Fisherman’s Landing

Went in to buy some zoom fluke baits they did not have any in stock. I noticed they had had fish tank that was in really rough condition. Had cyano bacteria covering the Entire rock and sand, so I left a business card to let Them know I could help, even offered to drop by for free. The guy on the phone abruptly hung up on me as if I was a telemarketer so something. Regardless if I was trying to land your business I was still a customer there a little respect to hold off five seconds or say we are not interested would have been standard. You are still representing a business. Very rude and will not bring my businesses here. Ps if your paying someone for your tank maintenance your fish should not be swimming in their own crap.

Great crew aboard the Dolphin!!! Patrick and crew were the best! So helpful to me and my kids! So helpful in every way! Couldn’t of asked for a better fishing experience for my kids. My daughter (8 yrs old) had the best time and caught 3 fish with the help of the deckhands. Can’t wait to go back!

The landing is top notch. Prices are on the high side, but that’s what you’d expect from such a nice landing, I guess. I do my tackle shopping elsewhere anyways. As far as the customer service, professionalism, and efficiency… A+ all day.
As far as boats, the Pacific Queen is an amazing boat with great, and knowledgable deckhands. One of the best boats I’ve ever boarded. They also kill a lot of fish. They run a great operation on that boat. I’ll definitely be visiting the Pacific Queen a few times this year.

I travel to fish all over the country and have to say that I was very impressed with the Commander’s Captain «Ping». The guy fishes hard and makes you really feel like your fishing on your buddy’s boat.
Chef Jason put out some of the best food I have seen in a very long time. If he had a restaurant, I would go in a heartbeat.
One question though. DOES FISHERMAN’S LANDING DO BACKGROUND CHECKS?
As for the crew, I wouldn’t rank them as the best or the worst. More like a B– or C+. If you aren’t an avid fisherman, I would take that into consideration.
What I did notice is they had one guy who didn’t know how to hold a fish. What deckhand doesn’t know how to hold a fish?
What I found most annoying is that this particular guy took it upon himself to smash heads by stepping on them. If it was one stomp, I could kind of see that but I am talking about something you would see in a street fight when a dude is trying to kill someone. Get a punching bag dude. 11 kicks stomps on someone’s fish isn’t cool.
I don’t eat heads but prefer my fish not to look roadkill.
It’s just an honest review. Captain is a good leader who leads by example and has no problems jumping in the trenches with his troops.

I took my 8 year old son, who’d never been ocean fishing before, for a ½ day am trip. While the fishing that day was just ok, the experience with the crew and boat was great! I really appreciated the attention the crew gave to assisting my son, answering questions and making sure that the overall experience was fun. The crew was almost instantly available if there were issues such as tangles or snags and had them resolved quickly. Even though we didn’t fill our bag with fish we absolutely enjoyed our day on the boat. We’ll definitely use this company in the future.

I went on the Dolphin PM extended trip yesterday and it was the worse experience I have ever had on a fishing trip! The captain was a big a — — !!! He couldn’t find any tuna, & kept the boat out until 9:30 because some drunks didn’t pay their $ 87 tab! He insulted my friend because he asked him what was going on… Never again will I take a trip on The Dolphin!!!

Fisherman’s landing: Good service and pricing was better than turners or amazon … surprising. Would highly recommend.

If your planning a fishing excursion you MUST charter the Condor. Captain Scott will get you into fish and is a cool dude! Mike his right hand man is a stud and Bill in the kitchen is a top notch chef! All around insane experience two years in a row. If your going to book get on the Condor!

This was a EXCELLENT trip. When I called to book two spots, the man who answered the phone was super polite and helpful. When we arrived, I was impressed with the shop. They had a HUGE variety of everything you needed for fishing. We paid our fees and headed to the Dolphin and we were greeted right away. Dustin and Kerry were a big help during our outing. EVERYONE who worked on the boat was super helpful in teaching all of us the skills of fishing. My husband I caught a total of three fish while we were out. They filleted our catch and bagged it all up for us. I do recommed bring cash on the boat. They have food and beverage choices, filleting options, and tipping (optional) and it all requires cash. If your in San Diego, call them! Overall, we had an enjoyable experience.

We fished on he Condor for a day and a half trip. I brought my 2 teenagers along. My 19 yo son is a veteran of up to 8 day trips with me, but my 15 yo daughter had never been on a Sportfishing boat before.
The crew was superb. They were always on hand to assist anyone who needed it. They would even bait the hook and cast the bait out for my daughter if necessary. The crew always made sure that there was fresh bait in the hand well, and constantly hosed down the bloody decks.
The Condor is 90 long and has a bulbous bow, this means that it is a big, stable platform while underway and comfortable to fish on.
I have fished on most if the boats in the fleet over the last 40 years. And would definitely fish in the condor again

I’ve been fishing with the San Diego long-​range fleet for nearly 40 years. I’ve never felt compelled to write a review. It’s fishing; sometimes you do well, sometimes you don’t. But the experience at Fisherman’s has always been exceptional.
This time (on the recommendation of a friend) we decided to try the Condor. Since I was bringing along a large group (we were 7 total) I thought the bigger boat would give us a better opportunity for comfort, and I’m generally not opposed to trying new boats.
HUGE MISTAKE. I will never patronize this boat again! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! Other than the Captain, Scott (whom for the few moments he was in contact with his guests, seemed knowledgeable), and the apparent «low man on the totem pole» deck hand, the crew was unhelpful, uncourteous, and generally uninterested in helping anyone other than the pretty girl on the boat. Who seemingly had never touched a fishing pole, but caught a half-​a-​dozen fish; tied, baited, casted and hooked by the crew.
Normally, I would have no problem with this. But I had brought my sister on the boat as a Father’s Day gift for my Dad (also on the boat.) I don’t need help fishing, nor does my dad, nor did 3 of the other 5 folks I brought onto the boat. But my sister did, and my buddy who’s never fished on a commercial boat before, (and who never will again because of the obvious indifference of the Condor crew) did.
My sister and my newbie buddy, caught no fish, and received NO HELP from the crew. NONE.
It was a tough day of fishing to be sure. As the bite’s been pretty wide open lately, the boat total was very low. But as I said before, that’s fishing. My scathing review here has absolutely nothing to do with the fish count.
I will NEVER fish Fisherman’s again because of this. I am an exclusive H&M guy now. Thanks CONDOR, for NOTHING. I love being embarrassed in front of my family for such a horrible choice.

Good tackle supply for the cattle boats some of the longer range boats launch from here. I would recommend this place for more of a customer service style landing the operators aren’t as salty as say H&M but if you want clean boats honest service and top notch tackle come on in or jump on a charter.

The tackle shop has a huge variety and Pat behind the counter is extremely knowledgable. I’ve been out on the Dolphin a coupla times, and except for the filthy heads it’s a good trip. They will help you if you need it and leave you be if you don’t. And for some reason a grilled cheese is always better on the boat. They sell burgers and beer, reasonably priced. You can bring your own food but no coolers. It is a cattle boat, so your experience depends greatly upon the skill of your fellow anglers and that’s luck of the draw. Beware of sea lions (they are Not ‘adorable’, they’re thieving fish stealers)! The crew filets the fish on the way home and their shirtless tanned muscles are easy on the eyes. Is that sexist? Tip your crew!

After a change of plans for the day, we barley made it on time to board the boat. But they waited for us and were very accommodating. Expecting to only have the food we brought, I was surprised to see that they had a cook on board with cold beers, sodas and waters for sale. The crew was very helpful, the captain and cook were great. Mostly everyone on board caught a fish which was cool because you can never really call what type of day it’s going to be when it comes to fishing. We spent about 4 ½ hours on the water and had a great time. I would definitely do it again. You can bring snacks and drinks, just no alcohol. But they sell it on board. Also, at the end of the day they can filet your catch for you to take home for a small fee. Pretty cool…

Fisherman’s Landing is the cream of the crop!
Excellent tackle store with a wide variety of everything that is fishing for very reasonable prices. The guys in the shop are knowledgable and helpful and don’t make you feel silly for asking questions!
The boats out of Fisherman’s are all very unique making it a very convenient place to find any type of trip you desire! ½ day, private charters, overnights, you name it!
The store and grounds are taken care of and the facilities are always clean.
It’s fun to go down on a day when a boat is returning and see all of the anglers bring their catch up to the Fish Processors that are there!
Overall, great experience every time I’ve fished at Fisherman’s.

First time whale watching and it was a great experience! I went with my partner to their 9am whale watching aboard the Dolphin. There was about a dozen other people on board so plenty of space to move about. The Dolphin was very clean and well kept. They sell some snacks and drinks on board as well.
We headed out on time and it took about 40 – 50 mins before we saw the first whale. We spotted lots of whales, more than I expected! It was amazing watching the whales do their journey. The captain also provided some interesting facts along the way. We also got to see some seals and a pelican hitched a ride along the way.
Overall it was a fun experience. Only complaint was the paid parking. I wasn’t expecting the parking to be paid. Make sure to bring some cash (or a check) for parking. We went a little bit over 4hours in parking and paid $ 6.

Tip: if you call around lunch time and the line tells you to hold, do not. You will be holding for 10min before you get the answer machine.
Went out for the morning ½ day. Two people, no fish.

I went whale watching with my husband yesterday and it was so much fun! The weather was perfect and the crew was super cool and really friendly. The captain brought us right out to the whales (we saw seven gray whales!) but made sure to take his time as not to make the whales feel threatened. He shared some really good information along the way and when we finished a little early he took us over to see the sea lions in the bay.
The only negative thing I have to say is that one of the other passengers sucked, I mean he was a real big douchebag and shouldn’t be allowed in public without a muzzle. He was screaming and clapping (making a huge scene) at the sea lions who were sun bathing to wake up so he could get a better look, which then scared them all into the water and ruined any chance of the rest of the passengers getting to see them. Why would this idiot even try to disturb them? Not only was I annoyed for the sea lions, but we were also forced to listen to this man make a complete fool of himself, who obviously didn’t get the hint to shut his fat fucking face for a solid ten minutes. Maybe I’m not being fair, the guy himself was a huge fat lazy slob, maybe he was a sea lion in his past life and was just trying reconnect.
Anyways, the only thing that could have made this trip any better would have been throwing that old man overboard and leaving him to drown.

Fisherman’s Landing has been periodically running some pretty good Groupons for 50% off half-​day fishing trips, and my guy and I have scooped up a few of those deals. The Groupon is $ 32 per person, and if you don’t have a fishing license plan to drop an extra $ 14 the day of your excursion to register for a 1-​day license.
First, show up at least half an hour early for your fishing trip. You want to leave plenty of time to park, check in at the Fisherman’s Landing building, pick up your rod rental (if applicable; included in the price of the Groupon) at the building, pay for your license (if applicable) at the building, and then get to the boat to check in and claim a decent spot on the deck. They will leave you behind, so don’t be late.
Second, understand that the overall enjoyment of your trip will likely depend on (A) the crew working that day and (B) the fish you catch or neglect to catch. That’s my 2 cents, anyway. I suppose sea sickness and weather should also be factored in, so bring your meds if you get queasy and don’t forget layers and sunscreen.
For our second outing, on the morning of August 26^th, my guy and I enjoyed the services of a very friendly and helpful crew, and I reeled to the surface a 6-​foot dog shark or sand shark that drew gasps and oooohs and ahhhhs from my boatmates. Needless to say I loved that fishing trip. During that excursion Captain took the boat out into the ocean past Point Loma (water depths of ~200 feet) where lots of rockfish and other sizable fishies were brought onboard and heavier weights used. Awesome, right? Well, during our first fishing trip, on the morning of May 5^th, we fished at the bait barge for a while and then near the Coronado Bridge (depths of less than 100 feet) – OK, but a lot less exciting. Halibut was fish du jour then.
Third, speak up if you have any questions or need help. All crew members seemed so happy to assist, but some weren’t as forthcoming in offering their services as others. Is your line tangled? Did you lose your hook? How do you get your rod to stop making that annoying clicking sound? What’s the best way to bait that big mackerel? Should you use live bait or cut bait? Just ask someone.

Fantastic half day fishing trip with my wonderful girlfriend, bought from Groupon for only 32 bucks! It pays for everything except for the fishing license ($ 15) and food/​drinks. Make sure you bring cash though! They don’t take cards. That was my only mistake, besides catching a seagull who tried robbing my bait Overall it was a wondering trip from 6 am to about noon but they have afternoon trips if you’re not a morning person.
