Optometry Cabana

Dr. Stevens and her staff are great. Not only did they see me the same day I set my appointment, their prices are very reasonable. I love the ambiance of the shop as well, high class and fun. Super cute. I’ve found my forever eye doctor.
Update: I was suffering from constant headaches so Dr. Stevens adjusted my glasses. My headaches are GONE!!! Thank you so much Dr. Stevens! I’ll see you tomorrow to place my order!

Great doctor and amazing service ! I have been pleasantly surprised by the courteous staff and the wonderful optometrist. She checked my daughter eyes the same day we called. We were even able to get a great pair of sport eye glasses to protect her eyes.
Will definitely come back for all our eyeglasses need!

So from the start I will ask that if you have a groupon please don’t waste your time and go to Optometry Cabana. I bought a $ 59 groupon that stated in title «$ 59 for a comprehensive eye exam and $ 150 toward complete frame and prescription lenses ($ 300 value)». When I called today to confirm I spoke with a lady and she then told me that lenses were not included it was either frames or lenses… I asked how much for a pair of basic frames. She replied $ 140. So I asked how much the lenses were and she spit out a number that I didn’t pay too much attention to because I can have lenses made from Costco for $ 70. I drive all the way to Carmel Valley with my wife, 2 kids and little baby nephew which is not an easy task in itself. We are greeted by a very nice lady with blonde hair (not the optometrist), she helps my daughter and we find something she likes. The whole time my daughter is getting her exam this other sales lady with brown hair is arguing with me about «what the groupon says» VS «what the groupon really means». When she was done with her exam I had a couple options picked out, one of which the optometrist magically up’d the price $ 36?, so I decided it was financially easier to use my groupon to pay for the eye exam and the frames (no lenses) because I could not afford the $ 150 they charge for lenses. I figured I would take the eye prescription and frames to Costco and have them do it for $ 80 cheaper. I was told by the optometrist herself that I had to purchase their lenses or I couldn’t use the groupon??? And she was super rude!
So now I’m frustrated and being told to wait and all of a sudden security comes… Then the «manager» shows up (looking like he’s ready to chew someone out) and basically tells me «I talked to groupon and they know what we mean, call them if you want a refund». He then tells me I have to pay more if I want the prescription to take my business elsewhere when I paid groupon for an eye exam and $ 150 towards frames and lenses… The fine print read, «Must use promotional value of glasses exam and credit towards frames in 1 visit».
I proceeded to tell the «manager» outside in a calm tone how I felt about him and his shady business practices…
By the way, «under federal regulations optometrists and ophthalmologist must give each patient a copy of his or her prescription immediately after an eye exam or completion of a contact lens fitting process». -

The bummer is I felt that if I hadn’t been in my construction work clothes I might have been treated with a little more respect.

I came here with a Groupon and no insurance. I was not expecting a hook up. I was expecting help and professionalism. In the beginning I was happy. I felt like I got hustled now that this has happen again. To a friend recently who is like me. A go with the flow kind of person. Got hustled, they do not want to complain but I will bcuz I have had a bad experience here. They claimed to have a warranty on glasses. When I called I got the run around. When I told them my glasses were bubbling up on the outside and making it hard to see. They informed me that this should not have happen unless Im «rubbing acetone» on them. WTF!!! I used the spray bottle they gave me and the cloths. So I asked what I should do bcuz I live and work in south county, they hung up on me. Foreal?!? I called again on multiple days trying to resolve the issue. No luck. All I could get was for me to send the glasses in the mail and to include money for the shipping and repairs… Repairs? WTF is the Warranty BS for than? I paid extra for the Transitions and Crizol lenses. Crizol is not suppose to scratch or chip. But my lenses scratched and chipped than started flaking. Thanx for the waste of money and added stress to our lives… KARMA appreciates you Unhelpful Schmucks

Great service and friendly staff. Came to get an eye exam to get fitted for new contacts and got assisted right away. The front desk staff were very kind and welcoming, as well as the optometrist. I didn’t have any issues with my exam, and I loved that they could provide contacts directly without going through a third party provider. The actual office is clean, right in front of the Del Mer Highlands fountain, and unless you come during a very busy hour, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding parking. I was in and out in a flash.

Optometry Cabana is amazing! The staff is so helpful, very friendly, and and just a joy to work with. The optometrist, Dr. Stevens, is extremely knowledgable and kind. I’ll be sure to go back when I need a new pair glasses.

Okay let the suspicions end here. Along with my OTHER review, I can do nothing but commend the staff and doctor of Optometry Cabana. I can say honestly that whenever I go in I am treated with the utmost respect. Bought my first pair of glasses with transition lenses here, and they are wonderful. Scratched lens sent in to Oakley by the office and repaired at no charge to me. For my backup pair of sunglasses I bought a pair of Oakleys online, and not from Optometry Cabana. The frames were found to be defective by Dr Srevens. They would not properly hold the lenses in place. She successfully sent the pair back to Oakley and I got a brand new frame and all at no cost to me. Now that’s service!!!

I’ve called around a few places because I am on the hunt for some Dita glasses. The woman who answered the phone at this establishment was extremely rude!
I asked very specific questions about products that they had in stock. The woman was going around my questions and was even hesitant to tell me the store hours! I felt like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman when she goes in to the clothing boutique looking for a dress and the sales lady is so rude to her. I have never been treated like this in my life!

Great experience! The doctor was extremely informative about the process and answered all of my questions. The staff was very helpful and they have a great selection of eyewear

I thank you for responding, Doctor Stevens. The quality of my lenses is excellent but I had to have the frames adjusted somewhere else because every time I went to your shop you weren’t there and your assistants were totally overwhelmed because there were too many customers. I think you are a fantastic dr. of optometry but you may need a management class because even though I worked in retail in college and know what that’s like, I have this freakishly sympathetic face and I DO NOT want to hear employees making excuses for why the boss is not there in addition to complaining about working for you! To others: She is a fantastic clinician.

DON’T GO HERE. I bought a Groupon for an eye exam and when I went in Dr. Stevens attempted to charge me 150% over what I had already paid for the contact portion of the exam! She tried to say that I was already getting a deal and refused to come to any sort of agreement or work with me in any way. When I asked how much the regular eye exam was and how I was «already getting a deal» she said the exam is normally over $ 220!!! That’s almost 300% more than the national average and more that 175% over the local average for her area!!! I asked if she did any form of price matching and she said no. And then gave more attention to the UPS delivery man than me, the customer standing if front of her who had already paid for her service.
I also think its funny/​interesting that eye exams are required once a year by federal law for operating any vehicle or machinery and Optometrists can deny you this REQUIRED medical treatment solely on a financial basis. Even private Emergency Care or Urgent Care Centers CANNOT deny treatment. I know that is a bit of an extreme example, but that doesn’t mean I am wrong.

I needed to use my insurance benefits so I stopped in late in the day on a Saturday and they were most gracious and accomodating to see me that day. I felt the exam by Dr. Stevens was one of the most thorough I have experienced. To top it off they have one of the best selections of frames I have seen. I also had an exam for new contact lenses which was fabulous. Dr. Stevens found the right prescirption so that I can see near and far, which I had never been able to do. Great staff and products!

Excellent service and knowledge. They diagnosed an eye condition in my husband that was missed by ophthalmologists for years.

The exam was quick, and the doctor was sweet enough to help me pick out frames — I’m super indecisive. Everything about my visit was easy and professional, and I really liked their frame selection. I would recommend to a friend :-)

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. What a beautiful facility, what a great selection and most of all what great people. They treat you like family. Debbie wouldn’t stop smiling, Dr Stevens is a real pro and even her husband Igor was there and he was really a cool guy. Anyone who would not give them 5 stars must be having a bad day!

Nice selection of glasses but it ends there. Came in a while ago staff was rude, there was an older man who helped me and he just seemed so pushy and rude, I was going to buy a pair of sunglasses but was thrown off by the service. I don’t suggest this place they just seem like their a money hungry business. Also it is suspicious that all their reviewers have only 1 review…

Went to Optometry Cabana to find some sunglasses, and found that they carry a lot of different brands then the norm. The staff was very helpful and made me feel like they cared. The store is really clean and very cute. I would highly recommend going here!
