Great scooters, great service and great price. Had a great time riding these scooters around to Corando and back.

What a wonderful day, and Ross helped make it so! My wife and I rented beach cruisers (bikes) and had a blast!
We were celebrating our 35^th wedding anniversary, and I surprised Kathy with a day in Ocean Beach. I found O.B. Bikes here on Unilocal and called the day before, and Ross was very helpful in reserving our bikes. Prices were great and we rented for the day. We had coffee out front at Your Mama’s Mug (see separate review) and then stepped back to Ross’ place, and he was the same helpful dude. He gave us a couple of suggestions about where to ride and off we went.
We rode around Newport Ave and the beachfront a bit. Met some really nice locals who gave us the lowdown. We started south toward Sunset Cliffs, but changed our minds and headed north. After a brief cruise through neighborhoods we crossed the bridge over the channel and headed for Mission Beach. We cruised the boardwalk there, sat on a bench (the one marked «John’s Bench» — say «Hi» for me) and watched the world go by, and then headed back to OB. Had lunch at Mike’s Taco Clubh which is across Newport Ave. from O.B. Bikes. Awesome lunch (see separate review), beautiful day, and Kathy was truly surprised by it all. Came home for a swim and hot tub dip with my honey.

O.B.Ebikes is legit. My girlfriend and I spent the entire day touring San Diego from Coronado Island to the Gaslamp District, and went even all the way to La Jolla. I’m 214 lbs and it had plenty of zip and was an absolute blast. Prices are very reasonable and Ross will work with you! He’s Extremely helpful and will go WAY out of his way to hook you up for the perfect trip. I had my doubts about these scooters since they’re electric, but they couldn’t have been more fun. They’re perfect for the twisty streets of San Diego and exploring the coast. No joke I must have had at least 20 different people ask where we had picked up the electric bikes. Total blast. Thanks Ross!

I rented electric mopeds from O.B.Ebikes when my former college roommates came to San Diego for a visit. The electric mopeds are a GREAT way to take in the beach areas. even for active BABY BOOMERS :-) O.B. Bikes is conveniently located in a mini-​mall on the main shopping street of OB. You can’t miss them because their colorful display of mopeds and bikes is curbside. The actual rental center is located toward the rear of mall (just look for the hanging bikes and the neon sign). So nice that it’s location is close to the mall’s back entrance, because Ross conducts orientation and test riding in the service alley, giving you a chance to get used to the mopeds before venturing into the streets. Thank you Ross for your friendliness and professionalism!

On vacation from NorCal and we decided on touring San Diego on scooters.
All I can say is WE HAD A BLAST!!! We reserved 3 the day prior and arrived at 10:00. The shop attendant was great!!! Gave us good overview of use and then we headed to the back ally to get comfortable on them.
We spent the day touring the coast, local neighborhoods, Old Town, shops, Memorial Monument, etc.
The local drivers were surprisingly friendly and non aggressive.
$ 60 for a full day was a steal and the parking was amazing. We hopped on and off and were on our way!
Did I mention WE HAD A BLAST!!!

These guys are awesome. What a way to see the sights of the beach area than on an electric scooter. The rental process was easy. The scooter was easy and fun to ride. I can’t wait to go ask to OB so I can rent one again.

Support local, friendly, environmental, honest, reasonably priced people. Take a bike tour with your family to the cliffs & around OB. Best $ 16 I’ve spent. Debbie was the nicest person ever, awesome! They are the only bike rental on Newport & they even have electric scooters. Thank you!

Okay, here’s the deal with this place: Ross is the man and he’s there in a minute to keep his customers happy and taken care of. The bikes are older, for sure. They could use a little maintenance but again, Ross is right there to get you a replacement or fix her up for you. The average review would probably have OB bikes at a 3 or 4 if they were about the bikes alone, but it’s so much higher because of the stellar service and positive experience people have had. (My bike was older and the chain kept popping off. We stopped in the next morning before the shop even opened and Ross met us to hook me up with a new bike.) The shop is cool — you have to go looking for it down this little indoor alleyway that houses a bunch of little artisanal shops. And while OB bikes appears to be a small staff, Ross makes up for ten employees with his attentiveness, responsiveness, and consideration. It’s an OB gem, and if you’re staying in San Diego, there is no better way to show your appreciation for the beautiful city by giving your patronage to neighborhood shops like this one.

This place is amazing! The owner of this place works this little shop and he is one of the most friendliest owners I’ve met. I’m on vacation and taking the time to write a review about how much I liked my experience with this shop. I will def come back to rent another moped the next time I am in this area. Thanks for being nice and accommodating.

This place is hidden inside some dark hallway which is a bit scary to go alone as it’s gets darker and darker and quieter and quieter as you go deeper into it.
I saw high appraisals for this place but honestly I was expecting something mind blowing with this place but sadly it was rather disappointing. The place looked very beat down and the beach cruisers bikes they rent out are super old and rusting everywhere and it was a little odd as usually from past bike rental experiences they would rent out the same brand/​model beach cruiser bikes to everyone but this place doesn’t seem to have more than one of each beach cruiser bike brand/​model. Questionable about how they got their beach cruiser bikes. Rarely does a beach cruiser bike rental place work like this. Usually you’d get a bulk of the same beach cruiser bikes at a discount.
The beach cruiser bikes were also pretty old and beat up hence I almost backed out from renting at this place. I would gladly go somewhere else to rent a beach cruiser bike as I had issues with my beach cruiser bike rental experience here as the chains just randomly came off from a relatively small bump and it was such a mess to put the chains back on. No helmet was offered and the chains fell off the bike when I was on a decent downhill passing through multiple intersections and luckily I didn’t have to deal with any incoming traffic else it would have been a disaster.
For the price I paid here, I can get a much better beach cruiser bike to rent elsewhere. Unilocal has let me down on this one.

Debbie and Ross were great! We took the scooters out all day and got to really explore the San Diego neighborhoods like nothing else! The scooters were fun, easy and great! You got to check this place out! They were super flexible and met us at 7am so we could start our day bright and early!

OMG. This was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon! Ross was so nice and informative about the mopeds as we were all new to riding scooters. He checked us in and instructed us quickly and we were on our way! It was so fun zipping all around the California coastline. I was a little nervous about riding the scooter at first but in no time you get the hang of it. We are locals and definitely plan to go back. Thanks, Ross!

What fun! We were in Mission Beach eating breakfast and thought, we want scooters! Only Mission Beach only has bicycles, bummer! So we looked up this place and headed to Ocean Beach. We rented 5 scooters and it was a lot of fun. The owners were super nice and laid back. The bikes were all pretty much brand new. We cruised around for a little over 2 hours and had no issues with anything. I would recommend for anyone, just watch out for cars!

We were in San Diego for a little R&R and having rented bicycles on our last visit, we decided to rent E-​Mopeds :) What a great idea! The couple at OB Bikes were very friendly and helpful. they showed us our choices and explained how to work each one and they even told us about great paths and beaches to visit. We took the bikes out for a 2 hour ride and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! We rode and rode and enjoyed the sites more so than on a regular bike. The E-​Mopeds were well maintained and gave us absolutely no trouble. We even got a lock so we were able to stop where we wanted and lock them up — so great! This is definitely a must-​do and I recommend it to everyone :)

My daughter and I enjoyed a beautiful bike ride to Ocean Beach yesterday. After jumptng a curb her seat was out of allignment. We stopped in to O.B. Ebikes and Ross was all too pleased to make it right. He took the time to adjust the seat and we were back on the road within minutes. Great customer service! Thank you Ross!

Parking and driving on 4^th of July in San Diego is insane! So, I opted to rent a bike to get me to and around the Mission Bay area. I asked for a beach cruiser around noon, and Ross had it ready for me in about 30 minutes. Although the bike was definitely older, it worked perfectly. Ross also gave me a bike lock and map to use. He made himself available in case I needed anything, and even called me a week later to make sure I was happy with the whole bike rental experience. Thanks, Ross!

We spent a week in the Mission Bay /​Mission Beach area and rented bicycles from here. The company rents traditional bicycles as well as specializing in e-​bikes. We had just regular beach cruiser type bikes (non-​electric) and they were great. I called saying we wanted two bikes with baskets for three days and we wanted to put our own toddler wee ride Kangaroo seat onto one of them so we could make treks around to the various areas of interest with our two year old (who cannot ride a bike on her own yet) without having to go by car.
Not only did Ross (the owner) answer the phone himself, but he got what we were trying to do and was super helpful. Best of all — THEY DELIVER — which was great for us since we were not just going for an hour or two, and don’t have a bike rack to transport the bikes from the shop to our rental… plus we have a two year old which makes otherwise simple things like picking up a couple of bikes a bit of a production.
Ross was a «no problem» kind of guy. He showed up at our rental when he said he would be there, brought what we asked for (two standard beach cruiser bikes) and then said he had brought another option to show us just in case, because he thought it might be good for family stuff. The «just in case» option was an adult tricycle with big baskets on the front and rear. Of course as soon as we saw it, we knew this was perfect for us — we could fit the diaper bag, a cooler, the camera and some beach towels in the baskets no problem. So we got one adult trike and one regular 2-​wheeled cruiser and we spent a good part of each day we were there happily biking around the bay, and up and down the ocean strand.
We even extended from three days to 5 since it was working out so well. Ross was very flexible and worked out the timing and the price very agreeably. And when our rental was up, Ross showed up right when he said he would and picked the bikes back up.
No hassles, no problems, good prices, and they knew just what we needed, even if we didn’t. Highly recommended.

Ross is THE MAN! Seriously, not even kidding… the guy goes out of his way to make sure we’re taken care of — and for that, we love him!
I got my husband one of his electric bikes for Christmas and he’s been having SO much fun on it. I don’t even know how to ride a bike well and I got the hang of it!
Plus, his bikes look sleek and awesome, on top of the functionality. We had to share our prius before getting one of these… but now we’re fighting over who gets to ride the bike. ;)
