Ray’s Rentals

My initial review of Rays Rental was a 1 star due to my experience during vacation in December. My initial post is below and I was surprised when Ray himself read and responded to it. He offered to make it right and refund my rental to reflect that the employee was following policy but not looking at the situation to do the right thing. I am changing my rating based on him taking the time to make his business better by reading feedback and taking action. Thanks Ray.
12÷24÷15 Rented a wetsuit and boogie board. Charged $ 25 for a day for the board that was a POS. It was delaminating and had a crease, broke in half while I was out using it. Thought I would be ethical and tell them it broke and Timmreck charged me $ 20 damage. Is it worth the negative review I’m giving for them here to charge for the bad rental.

Ray’s Rentals was quick, easy, and reasonable. It’s only a few blocks away from the boardwalk and we had plenty of places to ride. The bikes were in decent condition. The only thing I didn’t like was the coaster brakes.
I must give Ray’s Rentals 5 stars not only because it was a great experience and we had fun riding the bikes, but also because I met a fellow Boilermaker who worked there! Yay! That was cool!

Rented a bike to ride around Mission Beach. It was an easy process with a few selections. For a little extra, you can also rent a basket or lock (in case you plan on parking and going inside anywhere). Good idea for a day spent outside!

Great Service! Very personable employees… No fuss no muss. They have you in and out with what you need. We rented a Tandem for only $ 40 bucks. If your down in Mission Beach you have to cruise the beach on one of these. Park and soak up the sun and feel the breeze.

$ 10 all day rental? Sounds good to me! They have decent beach cruisers, you get either a free bottle of water or rental bike basket with Unilocal check in, and it’s in a perfect location to go cruising around along the beach or around Mission Bay. No worries about time limits, just hop on and enjoy the day! Staff are well organized, the bikes are nicely maintained, and if you can’t find street parking, it’s right by Belmont Park, so you can park over in the beach lot parking and walk a block over, easy peasy. We had a big group, and we misread that the $ 10/​day deal isn’t for weekends, but they were kind enough to give us the deal anyway. Great service, no hassle, and a fun way to spend a beautiful summer day in San Diego.

Initially I called them to check the prices on rental and i was told, it’s 10 $ per board per day. We were excited about the deal and drove for 30 mins to get to them. Upon arrival, when we were trying to rent the board, we were told it’s 30 $ per board per day. But I had to mention that I called earlier to get th deal.
Overall the experience was nice, but I recommend doing your own research and wished they didn’t give me different prices.

Found this place using Unilocal.It is a block from the boardwalk at mission beach. Pull up their website on your phone to get a coupon for $ 10 all day bike rentals. And check in on Unilocal for a free basket they will hook on the front of the bike.
Rental was quick and easy. It’s a tiny little place and it was super busy but the line went fast and they had plenty of bikes. My niece and I got matching pink bikes.
Mission beach and mission bay are the perfect place to go bicycle riding along the beach in San Diego. Except for this short block walk to the beach front, you have miles of off street biking. Of course on the weekends you have to constantly dodge pedestrians which can be quite the challenge especially on ocean side. Try the bay front walk way for a lot less crowds. We did both and after about 3 hours we were tuckered out.
Great experience, and would recommend, especially with the coupon discount! The only thing I was disappointed about was they didn’t offer or suggest bicycle helmets. I had a bad accident on a bicycle years ago up in Seattle and I am so glad I was wearing a helmet since it split down the middle when I went head over handlebars and landed on my head. Thankful the helmet split instead of my head. So… I am surprised they don’t recommend using helmets. Other than that, great experience!

I just got back from 3 days in San Diego. I saw they had $ 10 per day special. I told the guy at the shop that we had 10 people needing bikes. He said we could get the $ 10 per day rate. I paid for 3 bikes for my family for 2 days. The guy said if I wanted to extend another day to just call or stop by. I stopped by at the end day 2 to let them know we would keep them another day. I was then told it would be $ 60. I reminded him we had a group of 10 and were being charged $ 10 a day. He said that rate wasn’t available every weekend. I paid the extra $ 30. That extra $ 30 cost them a good review and earned them a bad one. I hope it was worth it for them. I call it price gauging.
I can understand a 1 day rental but we had 10 ppl for 3 days. The bikes were fine but I would go to the other places on Mission Blvd that are $ 10 all day, everyday. The bikes are the same black beach cruisers.

Good bikes at a relatively normal price. Service was good and easy to get the rentals. Another plus is they are open later than other rental shops in the area.

When it comes to rental places, as long as it’s quick and painless, I have no complaints; and that is just the case with Ray’s Rentals. It’s just over a block away from the beach so there’s easy access to biking on both the boardwalk by the beach and the bike paths along the bay. If you’re going to rent for a half-​day or a full-​day, you can go all the way up to Pacific Beach and all around Mission Beach/​Bay fairly easily (though you’ll have to avoid some foot traffic in the busier areas).
Though the rentals are relatively inexpensive as is ($ 18 for a half day and $ 20 for a full day), there’s a coupon online for $ 10 all-​day rentals! Just go to their site and click the «Discounts» button on the top of the homepage. And don’t forget to check in on Unilocal for a free water bottle or bike basket!

I rented a double row surrey with 3 of my friends and we had a great afternoon riding around pacific beach. We payed for 1 hour and even though we were 30+ minutes overtime, we didn’t have to pay more! The workers here are super chill and friendly, even though we accidentally crashed our surrey into a tree and dented the top, they weren’t mad and we only had to pay $ 100 for the damage. I would definitely recommend Ray’s Rentals to families or anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing day coasting along the Pacific Ocean.

Super easy rental!!! Super close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Mention the ad online and you get an all day beach cruiser rental for $ 10. Great deal! You can also rent a lock for $ 3 so you can park your bike with no worries. The employee was really friendly and easy to talk to. Don’t forget your Unilocal check in offer for a free basket or water bottle. We had a great time cruising the beach.

We rented 2 bikes here– one was $ 10 for the day, and the 2^nd had a child’s seat on the back and they rented that one for $ 25 for the day. We should have asked the price for that one when we called, as my husband assumed it was also going to be $ 10. The bike lock was an additional $ 3. The location is great, and I just love riding up and down from MB to PB. The cruisers worked out just fine for us, and we had a fun time for a couple of hours. We stopped by Draft on the boardwalk for a chill lunch.

No complaints here! Found this place on Unilocal prior to coming to Mission Beach because my boyfriend and I wanted to bike ride along the beach. We arrived and was helped immediately. We went with a tandem bike (bike for 2) for one hour ($ 20). We both checked in and received a free basket & water bottle! Basket came in very handy. The guy helping us out was helpful and really chill! Good customer service, cool check in offers & convenient location to the beach.
Check this place out if you plan on renting bikes nearby!
Ps. If you refer to their website, you get 50% off single bike rental which means 1 bike rental would be $ 10 ALL DAY! Pretty sweet deal in my opinion. (Might only be during the weekends but double check to be sure!)

Rays rentals is the place to go. It was amazing deal, 10 bucks per bike all day! My boyfriend and I cruised the boardwalk to go eat at Joe’s Crab Shack on pacific beach.
Ray is a super friendly, family oriented guy. His entire crew is awesome!
The basket was 3 bucks extra and was perfect for my purse. We also shared a lock for 3 bucks!
Seriously, check them out if you want to have a great day. You can’t go wrong with this place.

My bike rode great! They are one of the cheapest shops around with the $ 10 internet special. They adjusted my seat to fit me and we were off.
We kept wanting to extend our time on them because we biked everywhere. It was such great exercise. A quick call to the shop and it was done. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Having a basket was extremely helpful whenever we went shopping or needed to carry something. Also, get a bike lock. One lock is sufficient for two bikes. They adjusted my seat to fit me and we were off. I would rent from this place again.

We rented three bikes for the day and were given a discount at 10 $ each! We were able to get pink bikes too which was nice! The man who was working at the store was very friendly and helpful. The store was busy which shows that it’s a popular and reputable place to go to.

Awesome staff works here. Price is amazing, $ 10 for a bike (cruisers only) all day if you show them how you found their place (show their website). Great location as it’s within walking distance of the ample parking spots (if you come early) around the mission bay. It was my first time riding a bike around the whole Mission bay and it was amazing! I did it in slightly over 2 hours I believe. Great exercise and views. Definitely recommend renting a bike here! They gave a nice map on how to get around the area which was very useful. If you check-​in, you can get a much needed free water bottle or a basket.
Definitely will return here!

PARKING: Paid lot next to Rays. or find street parking.
SERVICE: Great! To those who were questioned for the $ 10 deal, I believe they have either fired that guy or embraced the price because I had no problems getting BOTH the Unilocal check in and the $ 10 all day cruiser rental. The guy at the front even SUGGESTED the $ 10 deal. Bikes were in a decent condition and very comfortable to ride.
I’d definitely be back with the great service I received. I asked for a second opinion of a nearby seafood joint, and he was eager to chime in and even suggest another place. Love it!

A simple beach cruiser is $ 10 for the entire day. Check in on Unilocal and you get a free basket! How cool is that!?!
Located in the heart of mission beach, this location has great customer service and is a block away from the boardwalk which is perfect for riding! They have many different bikes to choose from, including some funky tandem style bikes. I think they also have equipment for water sports available for rent.
You will need to find parking elsewhere and walk over to the shop.
