The Nguyen Music Studio is a unique private studio specializing in music education taught with a holistic emphasis. We pride ourselves on providing a healthy and supportive learning environment for our students.

Our aim is to produce not only exceptional musicians, but more importantly, exceptional human beings. We embrace technology, psychology, ergonomics, visualization, and the development of essential life skills as resources in order to provide a comprehensive education in music and in life.

By providing a safe, gentle, and open environment which allows growth and change to happen naturally, we hope to improve each student’s quality of life, encourage them to experience who they are as unique, original, and unlimited beings, and invite them to become aware of their true potential.

History

Established in 2009.

Nguyen Music Studio was founded in San Diego in 2009 due to an increasing demand for music education taught with a holistic emphasis. Quyen Nguyen’s fresh take on music education stems from combining her twenty years of experience in the music industry with her love of holistic philosophy and psychology.

Drawing upon fourteen years of experience as an educator, Quyen Nguyen’s aim is to produce not only exceptional musicians, but more importantly, exceptional human beings. Her studio focuses on the development of necessary life skills such as efficient time management, project planning, constructive self-​criticism, good decision making, and healthy self-​analysis.

Originally offering private lessons in violin, viola, and cello, her practice has evolved to also include music appreciation, composing and arranging, Alexander Technique, teacher training, music therapy, and other holistic practices to help students open up to deeper expressions of who they are.

Business Owner

Quyen Nguyen has enjoyed a versatile and varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and music educator. She has concertized all over Europe and the United States, won numerous awards in local, state, and national competitions, and has had the honor of representing the US in international competitions.

A founding member of the Velvet String Quartet and the Goldberg Quartet, Ms. Nguyen has been described as a «gifted interpreter» as well as «a performer who commands the stage». As a solo recitalist, she has premiered several works written expressly for her. Additionally, she has taken posts as principal violist with nearly every orchestra she has worked with.

A devoted music educator, Ms. Nguyen has served on the faculties of the Seoul School of Music, Vibe Performing Arts Studios in Los Angeles, and the San Diego Institute of Music. She has also conducted clinics and masterclasses for the Kadima Conservatory Philharmonic and the Northridge Youth Philharmonic.
