My son and i played on the beach in the morning, he got tired and went to sleep and i wanted caffeine and some food to eat. If you just walk around you see a sad looking starbucks, I mean i really like starbucks but this one was really one with sad vibes. Thank got for Unilocal i got 3 suggestion, took the nearest one– mission beach coffee break and was blown away. A very simple breakfast of avacoda and white eggs with bagels. It had the most simple but amazing taste. the avacoda and egg white blended so well. And eventhough it was self service place, tiny but neat and clean she seeing me with a sleeping baby asked me to take a place and she served with hot coffee the very tasty breakfast. It was exactly what i wanted. As for the place we got the kayak table and chair and i sat there for almost an hr with people coming and going the server always friendly and smiling. It was what a coffee shop on a beach should be :)

A very cute shop with yummy coffee and scones which are massive! I loved walking down here each morning when I was staying on the beach in SD to get my coffee for a beach walk. The workers are super friendly, I loved hanging out there :)

I do not know what happened during my visit, but one thing for sure, I reserved a lot of patience. I stopped in to for a little breakfast and a cup of coffee. I ordered the Avocado, egg whites scramble, dill and feta on a whole wheat bagel sandwich, but I asked the girl out the counter not to use just egg white, but the whole egg with the yolk, and she said it was not a problem. Now I am a patience individual, so when the breakfast sandwich came made with egg white, I politely told them they made a mistake because there were no yolks in the sandwich. They(the cook) told me there was, and so looked at the whiteness of the egg, look at them, looked at the whites again, and pretty much told them, nope and that the eggs were white. You see, please, don’t play me as a fool. I know what well scrambled eggs look like and taste like. These were whites, because they look white and tasted like whites. In the end, I even pointed out a customer eating an egg sandwich with very yellow scrambled eggs, and I said, now those have yolks. Oh yes, they also forget to put the dill. After they insisted there were egg yolks in the sammi, I dared not to order another one, so I gave the original one back to them and asked for a simple toasted wheat bagel with avocado and feta cheese. Unfortunately, they got that wrong too. They did not put any feta on the bagel. Sometimes I just don’t know, whether they were having a bad day or was it I. I did not point it out, because I was afraid they were going argue with me on that too, so I just ate the bagel with the avocado, which was okay, except the bagel was a little dry and the avocado slightly under ripe. On a good note, the organic Mexican coffee was great and they offer free Wi-Fi, but I have to admit, when it comes to the eats, I have had much better execution and better eats. By the way, the young lady at the front was very nice. Oh yes, remember, pictures are worth a thousand words.

Did a great job foaming the milk for cappuccino, unfortunately they did have enough just milk to mix in to the espresso. The drink was a bit on the bitter side. Also it took a bit longer than usual to make a cappuccino, might be due to all the foam though.

Great little coffee shop, with a small food menu… But it was fantastic. The Acai Bowl was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth before 9am. In fact, I could wait to get back there the next morning to have another one. The staff was super nice and the coffee drinks spot on. The bagel sandwiches were very good, but overshadowed by everything else.

I was doing my daily walking/jogging at the beach boardwalk, when I decided to walk to the mission blvd and came across this coffee. It is ok, but I didn’t feel welcome, unless you are a regular or the employee knows you, you don’t get much reception from them. Coffee was ok, nothing special or to write home about. I also bought one of those nature bars was stale and i didn’t finish it.

Didn’t try food but worst coffee I’ve ever had and it was«fresh». Think they seriously need to do a cleanse on their equipment

Solid quick breakfast. Egg white, feta, and avocado bagel sandwich hit the spot. Gal behind the counter was super nice as well. Dog friendly which always helps. Good coffee too.

My wife loves to grab Acai bowls from here on the go. Its a chill spot, cool owner, there is only one rude worker there I’ve delt with. Good price for coffee too my only reason for 4 star is stupid I admit but its cause my coffee didnt stay hot and sometimes id go in the morning and they open a few minutes later then they’re supposed too. Other ways chill spot I recommend it.

Located in South Mission Beach(a few blocks south of the rollercoaster, across from Beachcomber), it’s on the quieter side. Seating available inside and out, but you might as well just take it to go and walk a few steps to the bay or ocean. They just have a view of the street. Love their acai bowl! Granted, I haven’t had that many acai bowls in my life(because I never thought they were that good), but this one stood out: perfectly thick and somewhat creamy texture; fruit on top is fresh and perfectly ripe; granola was crunchy and not overly sweet. I’m definitely a fan! Shout out to James V. for the recommendation. =)

Love this place! Coffee is great and fairly priced, always get the bacon egg breakfast sandwich and an acai bowl and my girlfriend and I split. It’s the perfect breakfast. Everybody that works there is great. Also they have cool local artists work up on the walls for sale. Take a seat on the surfboard sofa!

Nick and the ladies do an amazing job of making the Break feel like your front patio, for the size this place is big on hospitality and atmosphere.

Special friend and I are in town to visit for the week and our mission in mission beach was to catch our first real sun rise but the weather didn’t permit. Anyway, what made my morning was this coffee hut — the bacon bagel egg and cheese melt is simply perfect. The iced Americano is a good strong/sweet blend as I added half and half, honey, agave, and sugar. The acai bowl is an interesting mix of fresh & delicious acai, banana slices, black berries, granola, and strawberries. Succulents make great for décor, and a twist — staff member makes and sells adorable jewelry

Notably a hole in the wall in South Mission Beach this place is convenient and surprisingly delicious. Their menu is a little limited, but they are literally a small shop next to the launder-mat. Given the size of the kitchen their food is actually good! By far the best breakfast option in Mission Beach. You cannot go wrong with the Acai-bowl. I opt for no granola or agave nectar, but it also comes with a large portion of berries and banana on top. I think it’s the best acai bowl near mission beach. The bacon breakfast sandwich is my other go to — you can get it in a bowl too if that’s too much bread. Sandwich is huge! They have great coffee and latte options as well! I have never had the lunch items, but they look yummy, they are fairly new to the menu. Despite the lack of line(normally) the wait can be a little long, at least longer than you’d think. Proves to me that they are making my breakfast fresh! But if you’re in a hurry they have online and call ahead ordering! Super easy :) also, you’re in mission beach. Hopefully your enjoying San Diego and you can sit outside or have time to relax! Parking at the beach can always be tricky, it’s only street parking right here. There is short term(30 min I believe) directly out front but it is normally occupied. Great spot to walk to and locals are surely inside! Love coffee break!

Mission Beach Coffee Break definitely fills the need for a quick breakfast /brunch spot in South Mission. Even though the menu is quite limited, everything they make is fresh and delicious. I prefer to get either an Acai Bowl or the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich(usually served really hot so be careful!). They also have a nice variety of little scones and bakery items, and they sell a good brand of energy bars. All of the coffee drinks that I have tried are also much better than many of the other nearby breakfast spots in Mission Beach… I especially enjoy the Lattes, although the Iced Coffee is great, too. They are normally quite quick at preparing the food at Coffee Break, too, which is nice whether you are just insanely hungry or trying to grab something fast before school or work. Since it is a small establishment catering to a limited group of people, they definitely make an effort to get to know familiar faces which makes for an even more pleasant experience! All of the employees are so nice, and one even recommended a new taco place for me to try downtown(Barrio Star is soon to be reviewed :). The only thing I wish Coffee Break would do is add the option of getting Avocado on the breakfast sandwich… that is the only thing missing!

Great coffee and morning treats. I recently stayed in Mission beach for a few long vacation. Mission beach coffee break became a morning ritual. I had coffee there every morning and multiple times had food including their breakfast sandwich and the acai bowl. The acai bowl tastes too good to actually be healthy. Almost like a berry flavored frozen yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. The sandwich are pretty typical. Egg, cheese, and bacon on a bagel or croissant. Hihly recommend!
