Mission Bay RV Resort

Best place we have ever stayed at! From the moment we arrived. The office staff had an awesome attitude. The park is clean and cozy, right on the bay you have great access to the bike path and nearby parks. There is also 24 hour security and they are on it. There’s not anyone that doesn’t stay here entering your stuff is totally safe! The prices are definitely reasonable for what you get. We extended are stay here and will definitely come back yearly!

We were looking forward to going the Mission Bay RV Park, and I had read all the rules and regulations prior to arrival. I had not made my reservation early because I was using Passport America that requires you to check in on arrival day. When I arrived in the first few days of January, they told me our RV was not welcome there because it was over 15 years old. We have a Lazy Daze RV, which is known as one of the best RV’s made, and they didn’t even want to look at it. Nope, we were not welcome because they had just changed their rules from 1995 RV’s and newer to nothing older than 15 years and proof of registration is required on check in. This is the first time this has ever happened to us. We get compliments on it all the time, and if there is such a rule, it is usually a management call, and we are always allowed because our rig is in great shape and most Lazy Daze still look the same over the years. I talked to the manager and she made a one time exception and seemed like she had no power on the upper management changes to this new year. So sad, how much business this park will no longer have.
It is as others have mentioned, a parking lot style RV park, but we would have gone back many more times because we have family in the area. It is surrounded by an old decaying mobile home park that is slowly being dismantled. When I was in the office, another woman was in there complaining about the laundry facilities not working well and being to small. This is a place where the sites are pavement, clean, and well patrolled. However, I wish their policy on age of Rv’s was flexible upon inspection of the unit. They are losing a lot of business by such a rigid policy.

I have NO idea how this place has 3 stars. I really would have liked to leave half a star but it’s not an option. This place is terrible. The bathrooms/​showers are disgusting. Very very dirty and stinky. Hair all over the shower floor. We actually opted to skip a shower the second day and wait until we reached our next destination. My son said the restrooms were worse than his college dorms. There is a park next door with a path for walking but it’s virtually impossible to reach the ocean on foot. Small beach on the inlet is accessible and we saw a few people paddle boarding which looked fun. No view from the RV park. Cramped sites. WiFi is awful. Practically non existent. If you need to get a little work done or want to watch Netflix at night forget about it. I have no idea why this place was so crowded with all the better choices out there. They should be ashamed of themselves and people should be more honest on their reviews so others (like us) will be fairly warned. There’s a huge parking lot right next door and we noticed several (6) RV’s parked there for FREE. Skip this place and do that.

While this park is in a great location, that’s really the only good thing going for it. Asphalt everywhere. The only little bits of grass are no where near the lots. They claim to be pet friendly but the «pet» area is an 8×8 fenced in dirt area with really no room to run or play. There are signs everywhere saying «not a pet area» or «no poop zone.» You have to walk quite a ways if your pooch wants/​needs grass to get down to business.
Make sure your water hose and cable line are longer, the hookups are at the back of each lot. Also there is an additional $ 20 fee if you want to actually attach your septic. They had wifi issues while we were there, so no internet. Each lot had trees at each corner, close enough that it was tough turning out, but doable.
We would definitely not stay here again if we’re ever in the area.

We’ve been here a few times and yes it’s a «parking lot» but it’s really close to the water and since we take paddle boards, it’s ideal for us. Very close to pacific beach, stores etc…
Staff is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely continue going here.
The one negative is the sewer hookups, the worst I’ve ever seen, they stick 10 – 12 inches out of the ground, As we know **** flows down hill, it’s hard to drain your grey and black with a 12 inch rise at the end, this needs to be addressed.

Have to agree w/​most the reviews. Wouldn’t really call it a «resort.» It has a great location, right on Mission Bay, surrounded w/​views of bay and walking paths around the bay. And does have a small, nice, nearly private beach on the bay. On the other hand, it is basically a big asphalt parking lot, w/​a few trees and bathrooms interspersed. They do have a snack bar, but it closes at 5 pm. Likewise, they rent ping pong, horseshoes, volleyball, etc., but that all closes at 5, too; bummer!
Personally, I prefer Campland «next door» — and all the amenities — pool, jacuzzi, snack bar, open into evenings, and activities (movies, basketball, horseshoes, water sports rentals, soccer, etc). But if you like the quiet, and don’t need all the amenities, Mission Bay RV is a fine choice, too.

We enjoyed our stay here. The sites were large and level. The park was clean. Unfortunately, there’s not much for kids to do other than plentiful bike rides. We did come across some grumpy people who don’t like the sounds or sight of kids but oh well. All you can do is smile and wave and ask your kids to stay away from them. They don’t have a pool so that kinda stinks but other than that, we’d definitely stay there again.

Wanted to give a few other RV parks a try before rating this one to see how this one mounted up to other. Overall I definitely recommend this RV park for short timers and full timers. We are full timing it found this one to be rather welcoming and good for our first place to stay.

The parks dog run is a joke and it smells so bad (tip*** there is a off leash area is you go up the creek area all the way to the bridge, but there is a lot of dog poop and its mostly dirt)

decent walking distance to anything other than the bay.
Overall its pretty good, could use a little updating and its mostly asphalt. They also only do 30 days, which im sure is good, but being a young full time I don’t want to have to move that often.

The location is fantastic and that’s really what your paying for. The place was well kept and the security was great. Internet SUCKED and I was there during the winter which is the low season. You basically can’t use the net at all. Probably why they say it’s free.
The park is almost 100% paved with a strip of grass extending across in 3 or 4 parts. I never had trouble taking the dogs to pee and there were plenty of spots to let them run off leash if you find them. The ocean beach dog beach was within 10 minutes which was the best treat.
The one lady in the office was not so friendly but the other one (think her name was Kat) was great and super accommodating any time I needed something.

We dragged our 5^th wheel over one thousand miles to visit San Diego for our kids spring break and chose Mission Bay RV Resort solely on internet searching. Needless to say, I was a little nervous. However, this park turned out to be a great home-​base for the week! It was clean, friendly and quiet at night.
I would gladly stay here again. Great job Mission Bay RV Resort!

The word «resort» needs to be removed from the name of this parking lot. Nothing resort-​like about it. We were packed in like sardines on an asphalt surface, huge lights blasting into our windows all night so that we had to hang towels and blankets over them. Paid extra for a «premium» spot… have no idea what that’s all about. Adore coming to this area but won’t be back to this expensive spot. Two stars are generous, but given because of the location.

We stayed here and enjoyed it. The location is great for this County owned and operated par, right in the Mission Bay Park. You have access to all sorts of recreational opportunities. The park itself is not the most attractive, just an asphalt parking lot with little landscaping. But it is clean and very well run. It makes a great place as a base of operations to see San Diego.

I enjoyed this spot and look forward to come back. It has its own little bay and a beach area. The bike path is nice and I appreciated the showers after kids played in the sand.

This «resort» is nothing more than a parking lot. If it weren’t for the great things around it it would hardly be worth $ 10 per night. In addition, they have an age restriction that does not allow any rig older then 1995. Our RV is from 1986 but in pristine condition, in fact we get compliments all the time and rubber-​neckers as they walk by wherever we are parked. After trying to make a reservation and not meeting their arbitrary requirement, they pointed us to Campland right next door that does not have such a restriction. Regretfully for us they were fully booked. Looks like their silly age requirement is not helping with the reservations. Read some reviews… just because the age requirement is 1995 doesn’t mean there aren’t some real junkers in this park

Great location however there is no reason to stay here. Camp land on the bay is right down the road and much more friendly. This place is rude, poorly maintained and expensive. Stay somewhere else unless you want to pay over 50 a night to deal with rude management. This place is typically at about 25 percent capacity and it’s easy to see why

Were camping here right now. I am looking out at the bay right now. Checked in yesterday and Luis was super helpful at the office. I needed our picnic table moved & called into the office & in 5 minutes it was moved to the perfect spot. The security staff is so nice. All the hook ups are perfect, lots of pleasant folks and well behaved dogs. We will be back.

Decided to head to San Diego for the weekend since my brother stays here for the entire month of July and have been going for over 5 years. They have groups of families come and go during the month as well. I was surprised at how nice the RV Resort was. There are a lot of kids running around but it was fine as no one was out of hand.
One thing that is nice is things have to quiet down at 10pm and the security guard walks around thru the night to make sure you are quiet so we got a very peaceful sleep both nights we were there.
One thing they also have are public showers/​bathrooms/​laundry. While we could have showerd in my brothers RV we decided to use the public showers as they have a bit more room. They are typical public showers so wear your flippy floppies and you will be fine. They are a tad rusted in the corners but hey… it is an RV Park and by the water!
We are already looking forward to joining them next year as well.

We stayed here with friends so I can’t comment on the office staff but know what you’re getting into here. the place wasn’t bad at all but it’s REALLY quiet at night and idle conversation outside was met by security on a couple occasions reminding us that it was past quiet time (10:00 I think). They were polite and professional for security people. There are a ton of kids all over the place so go easy driving through there, it’s pretty chaotic to navigate.
The bathrooms and showers are small and pretty rusty/​deteriorated but I expect that for a beach side public restroom facility. Wear your flip flops in there like and public shower and you’ll be fine. We were there with groups of people who return every year for very extended stays so they must have good things to say.

We book this place thinking it would be something special one of those elite RV parks I have heard of. They demand you have an rv 1995 or newer. We arrived and found the place is surrounded by dilapidated mobile home parks 1960s vintage. We checked in an found a staff that seemed to be there to just to collect a pay check. We got our site and set up. We had to sweep and clean before we could put any of are stuff out. I saw disappointment in my family’s eyes. They said they felt like they were in small parking lot that had a smell of sewage. The worst was yet to come. We were then harassed by a mullet haired mirror sun glass wearing security guard that said my dog was a Rottweiler. Buddy is a dachshund mix! I was told I had to leave. This dump was a complete nightmare! This story has a good ending. We left and did not waste another day of our vacation.

It’s a parking lot but we had a great time. Site 139 is great as it has some lawn attached to it. There are bathrooms right across so you will see some traffic. Didn’t bother us. Also the light there is pretty bright. Take the number off the pole and ask the office to shut it off from 8 – 12. Other lights can compensate. It’s very convenient and right on the bay. Pretty much a private beach and the snack shack is great for a quick bite. I went during July and it was packed. Enjoy!
