Dr. Payman Khalighi is a native of San Diego, and has been providing excellent care to his patients throughout his years of practice. The office is conveniently located in the Clairemont Mesa area. The Optometry office offers basic and comprehensive eye exams including diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease and injury. Complete contact lens services include standard, toric, multi-​focal, and RGP contact lens fitting. The Optometry office also offers a variety of glasses and prescription sunglasses at affordable prices. In addition, Dr. Khalighi welcomes patients for LASIK consultations. Limited time offer – basic eye exams: $ 59 (includes eye glass prescription and eye health screening); contact lens evaluation starts at $ 129 (includes glasses prescription, contact lens prescription, a free contact lens trial and 2 free follow-​up visits. Such a friendly staff! They are all so personable. Dr. K personally greeted me when I walked into the doors. He also discovered why I fall asleep so easily when I read and that it had to do with my eyes and we were able to find a solution! This is something two of my past optometrists have failed to ever recognize! I am so thankful and impressed that he was able to discover the problem with my eyes because I’ve been struggling with feeling fatigued when I read. Thanks for a great experience to everyone that works here!

I have been a patient of Dr Khalighi for more than 7 years now. When I went to him for the first time to check my eyes, I used to have really bad headaches during my classes and I have been going to different doctors to seek help, only with his prescription I was able to get away from those headaches. His care and attendance goes beyond just your vision. He always ask about my work habits and tries to help me with my day to dari routines to ensure my eyes health. I’ve found his eye exercises essential for my daily energy.

The service and attention here is excellent. My contact lense exam was very detailed and the Dr. took his time and patience with me to figure out my fatigue and vision problems I had. Also great because I got a bunch of samples when ordering my contacts!

Dr, Khalighi is very nice, and extremely helpful. He worked with me so that I could stay within my budget, and still receive good quality glasses/​frames, and contacts. I’ve always had perfect vision, so I was very nervous about getting an eye exam, and putting the contacts in my eyes. With his very clear directions, I was able to put them in without any problems at all. I’m very happy with my care, and the service that was provided to me. Highly recommend!!!

I recently needed an eye exam, and new glasses. I wanted bi-​focals but didn’t want the little lines to show. Dr. Gold was patient, presented the options, and educated me on what to expect. I’m happy with my purchase /​experience and will use Dr. Gold in the future!

My family and I went to see Dr. Gold recently and was very happy with the eye exams we went through. At first I was not sure because the place was small compared to other eye care places like Lens Crafters, Costco, etc. Right away we were nicely greeted by Dr. Gold at his reception desk. He professionally explained the discounts and coverages of my insurance before the appointment. Referred by my insurance, office location is off to the side, I would have not noticed there was an Optometry in the shopping center. My husband and son received a great price for their glasses after their eye exams, as well as I did for my box supplies of Acuvue contacts. Glad there was also a follow up appt. to make sure my sample contacts were a perfect fit before he goes ahead and order my contact supply.
Compared to other big eye care places that would have not taken my insurance and charged me triple for my family’s eye wear. My kids, husband and I happily recommend Dr. Gold Mesa Optometry.

This guy was listed as a provider on my insurance. He kept my daughter in his office for 30 mins. while he was on the phone with my insurance company who kept telling him that he indeed WAS a provider (they were on speaker phone) but he would not believe them. My daughter walked out. Whatta putz!

My families visit at Dr. Golds office was a sheer delight! We loved his prices and the careful, patience he took with our children, and my daughter was very satisfied with her new contacts therefore, I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality care.

Came to Dr. Gold for an eye exam hoping to get a Rx for glasses and contacts. I wanted to order colored contacts as well as clear contacts and Dr. Gold said I will need a contact lens fitting. He failed to communicate that only a portion of the contact lens fitting was covered by insurance. He does not carry Acuvue contact lenses. I have been wearing Acuvue for 10 years now, for as long as I have been wearing contacts, and here he is saying he can not prescribe these contacts to me because he doesn’t know if they are appropriate for my eyes. Fine, I can live with paying for the contact fitting and without Acuvue.
So I get fitted for Freshlook contacts, which is a brand that carries both colored and clear contacts. When it comes time to write a prescription, I ask him to write both prescriptions — clear and colored — so I can purchase my contacts from Costco at a lower cost in the future. He then refuses to write the prescriptions and insists that I order my contacts through his office. I keep insisting that I wanted to have a prescription for each type of contacts, and finally he agrees and writes me 2 contact prescriptions.
6 months later, I am out of contacts and need to order more. I go to Costco with my prescriptions and realize he wrote me 2 identical prescriptions — both for colored contacts. Now I need to go back to this shady *washmymouthwithsoap* to get clear contacts.
I guess I can live with fake eyes till 2012…

I went here about a year ago and plan to find another optometrist in the area. Here are my complaints, when I first went in for my first appointment, Dr. Gold had me wait while he talked to someone about ordering new frames. I’m a new patient and he didn’t even say «i’ll be with you in one second». When he was finally done ordering frames, he placed me into a room to check my eyes. He placed a tissue on the phoropter and had me place my chin on the tissue. How is this sanitary?
After he checked my eyes, we started talking about contact lenses. When I said I wanted to look around and compare prices on what he was charging me for the lens, he seemed to take it offensively and told me I had to pay him for the contact lens exam. This is fine, I planned on paying him for the eye exam but my issue was how he asked me for the money.
Needless to say my experience with Dr. Gold was far from perfect.
