History

Established in 1973.

Michael is a former Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Bernardino from 1970 – 1973. He came to San Diego in 1973 and opened his law office. His son Ryan worked in his firm while attending law school and became a partner. Because of Michael’s experience he has handled many major criminal cases. He focuses his practice now on representing minors and their parents in school, law enforcement issues, beyond control behavior, and juvenile court. He represents parents who are contacted by CPS for child abuse/​neglect allegations. The firm has been recognized as a top firm in San Diego for Juvenile Delinquency and Dependency cases in San Diego County for the past three years. Michael is A-​V rated. He has a 10.0 AVVO rating.

Business Owner

I’m a 1966 graduate of Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, and the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1969. I was admitted to the California Bar January 1970, and worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Bernardino from January 1970 to mid-​1973, leaving San Bernardino to become a defense attorney in San Diego.

My wife Melinda and me have two children, Ryan who is my law partner, and Karen who is a teacher. Melinda McGlinn is our office administrator and paralegal.

In addition, I previously served as a Judge Pro-​Tem for the San Diego County Juvenile Court and was a Chairperson of the Juvenile Law Section and Criminal Law Sections of the San Diego County Bar. I was the Chairperson of the Mental Health Committee of the San Diego County Bar. I was the past President of the San Diego Criminal Defense Lawyers Club and was an Adjunct Professor of Juvenile Delinquency Law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
