It was a one man show when we walked in, and I’ll admit we were a little hesitant to stay, thinking it would take awhile. Entirely wrong! Walking distance to all the local bars, this is a great place to start your night. Generous portions, for a very reasonable price. Cesar salad and $ 6 house Chianti far exceeded my expectations. Service was nothing short of perfect. Our server/bartender/chef was an absolute delight; a real pleasure to engage with. Looking forward to coming back and trying the pizza!

As others have said, these guys are kind of weird on prices. The $ 9.99 pizza, is always rounded up rather than charging the correct price. The pizza isn’t bad at all, and a 16″ for $ 9.99 is a good price, but the lack of consistency and inaccurate pricing is pretty frustrating. Simple fix though. They get that together and I’d have no complaints here.

They lie on price. They have a $ 9.99 pizza special which I’ve gotten for take out about 5 times. With sales tax this is $ 10.79. They ring it up as $ 11, and then either act surprised or defensive when I point out it should be $ 10.79 Every. Damn. Time. I mean, there’s a sign saying«one topping pizza $ 9.99» right by the door!!! It’s a decent pizza, and honestly it would be fine even if it WERE $ 11, but really guys, if you’re going to try to steal from your customers you could at least not use a big round price that’s easy to calculate tax on.

Doesn’t look like much on the outside with its neon lights but it’s actually quite cute on the inside– almost like a fancy liquor store in the front and cute little restaurant in the back area. Didn’t eat in the store though, called in for pick up– pizza was done in about 20 minutes from the call and since we live around the corner it was a super fast turnaround time which is awesome!!! :) Pizza was pretty good, it is on the pricier side but overall the amount of topping was really good, but unfortunately the bottom of the pizza was slightly burnt, luckily the toppings doused out the flavor lol.

Great service food was amazing and I have been here at least 5 times and it’s always great. They have a huge selection of beer and wine at great prices!

The best part of this place was the service. Our server was very friendly and attentive(a little forgetful, but still good) and the guys cooking were also greeting customers as they came in. The food… I ordered Bruschetta. sigh. It was simply a texas toast type thickness of bread with 2 – 3 thinly sliced tomatoes, basil and so much garlic(I love garlic, but too, too much). The bread had too much butter/oil so it was simply soggy and garlicky. My friend ordered pasta and I took a bite, it was okay, but nothing extraordinary. The table next to us ordered pizza and were devouring it. Should I be in the area again, I may try their pizza.

I’ve been here maybe a handful of times, and every time I do I get treated like family. It’s the best feeling! Such a sweet, attentive staff. Pizza is good, pastas have been good as well, but the calzone blew me away! It’s ginormous(like 3 days worth of leftovers), cheesy, and so satisfying. If you do decide to get one, I suggest calling it in first… it takes awhile to cook… being that it’s the size of my torso and all.

We just moved to South Park a few days ago, and decided to stop by Mazara for our first lunch in South Park. The ambience is very welcoming and the customer service was excellent! We were told we could sit anywhere we wanted, so we picked a nice spot in the right half of the restaurant, and Sam(one of the owners) turned the TV to the channel we requested. Then, we got to go pick out a beer from their HUGE selection. My boyfriend and I are craft beer connoisseurs, and we were in love with the options they had available. Any place with a vast selection of craft beer, and lots of TVs already scores points with us. But beyond the restaurant environment, the food was awesome. We were obsessed with the garlic bread. Slightly crispy on the edges but soft in the middle. SO good! We ordered lunch portions, but they were still large enough to fill us up so we didn’t need dinner. The lunch special ran us about $ 9, and the beers were CHEAP — $ 4 – 5 each! Overall it was a really good deal. We can’t wait to come back in for dinner — or better yet, order a large pizza for delivery! Sam really took care of us and made us feel welcomed to the neighborhood. We’ll be coming back soon.

Alright i don’t usually do this but this is messed up. Today day I got food poisoning for the second time after eating here. I’ve lived in San Diego almost 10 years now and have eaten at this place a few times since then,(not more then 10 times I bet). I’ve also had friends have similar experiences with this place and I’m writing it down now. This is fucked up guys, get your shit together. I hate being he guy that gives you a shit review but you need to check your fucking sandwich meat. I’m not eating here again. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to puke in my toilet.

Really low quality pizza. This place sucks for pizza quality. STAYAWAY if you would like good pizza. Great location but terrible pizza and unfriendly staff. I regret going here on Thursday for the $ 10 special which really is a rip off. They put almost no toppings on it, and the crust is plain white flour with no flavor. BADBADBADDDDD!!!

I picked up a pizza to go from this place for gaming day. They offer a great 16″ large one topping pizza to go special for $ 9.99. I asked for a meatball topping and for a little bit more, I asked them to add mushrooms. All together, the large pizza cost $ 11 and some change. The pizza was pretty good and they provided a very good amount of chopped meatballs and a good amount of sliced mushrooms. The meatballs were tasty and had a good amount of seasoning and herbs. The mushrooms were applied sparingly but good and the mozzarella was just grand. It was a good milky flavored mozzi and they put a good amount on the pizza. The sauce had a little sweet flavor and could of used a little seasoning. The crust was a medium thickness with that soft center and mild crustiness on the outside. It was baked to a medium light brown and had a very non descript flavor. The dough probably could of used a longer fermenting period a little more salt. Nevertheless, I really liked the pizza as whole. The gents running the eatery during the time of my visit were very friendly and in good spirits. Also, it was not a bad do for a large 16″ quality pizza.

I told you guys I wasn’t giving up on your guys and I meant it. I just ordered delivery for the calzone. I’m currently eating it and it is DEVINE! It’s so cheesy and gooey and let me tell you, this thing is an entire pizza folded in half. It’s HUGE and I’m excited I will have extra! Perfect flavor, I could use a little more garlic, but that’s just my preference. I’m still eating it and I’m loving every bite. Good job guys! :)

I love their pizza and salads. I recently ordered a proscuitto sandwich to be delivered and it was delicious! Chock full of fresh veggies, generous serving of proscuitto and delivered in 20 minutes. This place is run by a bunch of friendly people and their food Is fantastic.

I really want to like this place. We ordered a Caesar salad and was surprised that it included spring mix and the dressing was on the side. Three little containers and one of the dressings was a lot thicker than the others. It was like garlic butter. I guess I’m more of a traditionalist, I like romaine, fresh grated parmesan and already mixed dressing. The service was lacking too, we didn’t have utensils and when she brought it, she just laid it down in a pile and there wasn’t even enough for all of us. This was our 2nd time and we just remember it better the first time. Unfortunately, there are so many other restaurants in the area that we can try, that it will probably be the last time we come.

When it comes to pizza, everyone has their personal preference. Some other reviewers aren’t fond of the pies at Mazara, and that’s OK. But for my wife and I, it’s our favorite pizza in San Diego. Maybe it’s because we live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for several years, or the fact that Sam(the owner) is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Either way, we can’t stop! I admit, I’ve never ordered anything but pizza from here so I can’t vouch for the lasagna or anything else. But the pizza is just the way I like it: a little doughy in the middle but crispy in the crust, with enough sauce and cheese to hold it all together. Definitely order extra provolone, it makes a huge difference in the taste. The beer selection here is also great. They usually have some hard-to-find beers in stock, including stuff that sometimes has been off the shelves for a while(and I mean that in a good way).

This place is horrible. I don’t understand the positive reviews. Ordered take out and it arrived on time, but the dishes were gross. First of all the portions were just ridiculous; if you wanted to eat bad Italian food you could probably make 3 meals out of each one. If you judge a restaurant by the quantity of the food you get and don’t care if it’s good, then maybe this place is for you. My friend ordered the lasagna; he said even the cheese was bland. The sauce was watery and had no flavor. I ordered the chicken parm and the pasta was way overcooked with runny sauce; it tasted vaguely of spaghetti-Os. The chicken parm was just okay, mounded with crazy amounts of cheese(which probably helped it out to be honest). The garlic bread on the side was inedible. Soggy, flavorless, and oily. How can you screw up garlic bread?

I’ve ordered delivery from this place several times. Prices are reasonable and delivery is always fast and ahead of schedule and FREE! Here’s what I recommend: The pizza — I really enjoy their pizza. Is it the best pizza I’ve ever had? No, but it is good and satisfying. The greek salad — One of the best greek salads I have ever had. The salad is big, topped with lots of fresh bell peppers, olives, tomatoes, onions, pepperchines and feta, and the dressing it comes with is delicious and refreshing. Try it, seriously. Calzone — It’s good, but comes with way too much ricotta(and I like ricotta cheese). I recommend asking for light ricotta or no ricotta. Veggie Sandwich — Nothing special, skip it. Mozzarella Sticks — Not bad, but not the best either. Cannoli — Very good! Eventually would like to try one of their pasta dishes!

I wanted this to be my new pizza joint, I really did, but it was not to be. After reading fairly positive Unilocal reviews, I gave this place’s pizza a try via delivery. The result — meh. I ordered an artichoke pizza and pepperoni pizza, because the true test of a chef is their simplest dishes(it’s all about execution). The marinara was acceptable, albeit unmemorable. They did use real cheese and did not skimp, which is a plus. Topping quality was average minus. I do give bonus points for crust and day-after taste. I didn’t necessarily notice the crust either way when the pizza arrived, and I’m not usually one to eat leftover pizza; however, when I popped this pizza in the oven for a few minutes the next day, it came alive. It tasted much better the second day, and I noticed the crust was fairly thin, crispy, and buttery. Overall, the pizza was decent, but definitely nothing to write home about. And to those reviewers who said they thought this was the best pizza in San Diego, you need to get out more.

While walking around in South Park, dinner decisions were up in the air. I had just finished hot yoga, so I wasn’t feeling anything heavy or sit down(I was fairly sweaty and in workout clothes). Then a slice of pizza sounded awesome! Walking up to this place, it looks a corner liquor store immediately. But the smells coming from this place drew me in! When you walk in you see the old school order window right away, very basic front counter. The surrounding, lined up like a liquor store, walls of refrigerators of assorted drinks and alcohol, island of wine. Small dining tables covered with white linens and red wrapped tableware lined the red brick wall. I asked if I could order a slice, they said yes, and the slices are made to order… any toppings I wanted! I ordered my favorite toppings, peperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, black olives, and pineapple this time for fun. «Slices are huge, you should take a seat.» Ok, cool. I wanted to pay, but they waived me off and said, «after» with a smile. I grabbed a Snapple and took a seat. I don’t know why, but this place seemed very relaxed and comfortable, like I was at home. Pizza was served and it was the biggest single fully loaded individually made slice I have even seen! This slice was at least a foot long and the toppings beyond generous! I needed a knife and fork to eat this slice! The best part? I’m particular about my pizza crust, and it was thin and had a slight crisp throughout. I was shocked with all the toppings, the crust was not a soggy mess, and it was perfect! I wasn’t starving to begin with, and halfway through my slice, I was full. My leftovers had made an awesome cold pizza breakfast! Yummy! Price of the slice? $ 5.99! Awesome. They have pretty decent prices on full pizzas and delivery in the South park area.
