Ember and her team at Marilyn Monroe Spas are amazing! I have been going to Ember for a couple of years and her professionalism and expertise are unmatched. I trust her implicitly with any styling needs. This is the place to go if you are looking for exceptional hair extensions in quality and application. Ember will explain the entire process, how to care for the hair to make it last. Wonderful spa, comfortable, quaint, great service.

Mikey is AMAZING!!! I am traveling and feel like I lucked into the best hairstyle ever. Even though I live 2 hours away, I would strongly consider returning just to see him. Love, Love, Love my new do!!!

I recommend this spa. Great service with lots of options. People were nice and had many suggestions for first timers.

Had high expectations of this salon due to their advertised memberships — I should have known better that it wasn’t going to be what was stated in the membership benefits. Was there for almost 2 hours and had to leave mid manicure service because they made me late ! They book you for less than 30 minute for each service and take more than double and it’s not due to being pampered it’s due to their lack if efficiency ! Their gel manicure does not last longer than 7 days and they charged you extra when most salons do touch ups if they can clearly see the gel is pealing off and not chipping off. Ended up cancelling my memberships and paid just as much for the services the day of since their advertised prices are outrageous to begin with. If you are a guest to the hotel don’t give this salon your business out of convenience that’s how they are surviving as they clearly don’t even treat their local members well !

Go see Ember for your men’s haircut! She has amazing talent and is very knowledgeable when it comes to product and style. I’ve received many compliments on my hair since I started coming to this salon. Also be sure to check out their monthly membership plans. The plan I’m on allows me to get unlimited cuts & cleanups for only $ 45/​month. Such a great deal!

I won a gift card to the spa during a conference in the hotel. Gotta say, I’m not accustomed to expensive spas, so I was slightly nervous about snooty staff and feeling out of place. I needn’t have worried, as each of the staff members I dealt with were warm, friendly, and accommodating. The first staff person I dealt with kindly answered my questions as I tried to figure out what services to use my gift card on. I wound up with a mani/​pedi and some facial waxing. I enjoyed my services (well, as much as you can enjoy waxing anyway) and felt great. I made the most of it and spent some time in the relaxation room, the steam room, and the shower. I was relaxed and glad I had the experience!

Can you say highway robbery? This was the most expensive and most awful manicure I have ever experienced. I was in San Diego for work and had a break and needed a manicure. $ 100 later for a simple French gel manicure! There was NO massage, and NO lotion! In addition, one nail broke off and 2 others chipped in less than 24 hours. Now, granted, the charge was not $ 100 – it was $ 80, but I did my duty and tipped. I’m not sure why, because the experience was so mediocre. I have never been charged this much for a simple gel manicure, and I have never been this disappointed. I knew it was inside a resort, and expected an increased charge, but this was ridiculous. I will never, ever return (and I travel to San Diego monthly)!

Had a pedicure and mini manicure and was delighted with the service, the space and the staff. It was very relaxing. They were also able to fit me in for a blow out with Ember. She offered the scalp massage as an add on service and I highly recommend this. It smelled amazing and I nearly fell asleep during the massage and hot towel treatment. Because I had such a great experience, we called the next day to see if Ember could fit in a haircut of our 5 month old — he has a crazy amount of hair. Ember did an AWESOME job with his first ever haircut, was not at all bothered by all 4 of us watching the process and was skilled and calm with the baby. Overall, it was a great experience and I plan to visit again next time we’re in San Diego!

Very professional, friendly staff. Saraie was very pleasant and helpful. The place is very clean and peaceful. Service on time, the only thing its a bit pricey. but, to pamper myself, hey I say. Marilyn Spa is the way to go

Second time visiting this place and just as happy the second time! This time I forced my hubby to get a haircut and it turned out AMAZING!
I luckily got Mikey again for my wash and style and my husband lucked out and got him too. Mikey was able to make my hot mess of damaged red locks into something presentable (and the hubby loved it) he took the time to blow dry my very unblowdryable hair and even smoothed and curled it.
Then directly after my appointment my hubby got his haircut. He showed Mikey a picture of George Clooney– after asking for a «gentlemen’s haircut» lol. And Mikey seriously hooked him up. Even trimmed his beard and cleaned up his ridiculously crazy brows. In my husbands 40 years I guarantee this is the BEST his hair has EVER looked! His has some crazy thick, curly wild hair and it looks sooo good and soo George Cloonish!
Thanks again! We will be back next time we are in the area for sure!

Here in SD for a work conference and it was great to sneak away for a pedicure. The technician was amazing. Very clean, professional and I love my color that she helped customize with some sparkle! Staff and management very accommodating and professional — a great hidden gem in the Hyatt!

My hair had some very orange spots and Ember came to the rescue ! She fixed me and showed me great products that I bought ! I am very tempted to just fly out and see her for my hair needs ! She’s very nice and very knowledgeable.
Erma did my toes and wedding hair. She helped me with my bird cage veil which I was very clueless about ! She’s very fun to talk to as well ! My hair was wonderful for my wedding .
I also got eyelash Application done for my wedding day — I sincerely apologize but I forgot her name. She was very pleasant and they looked great !
I really enjoyed my time at this salon and all the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I love this place! I receive the best manicures and pedicures here! The girls are attentive and polite. I have gotten my hair done by Ember and Mikey many times and will not go anywhere else! This spa is beautiful and really makes you feel glamorous when you leave!

My husband setup a package it is call «a day with Marilyn Monroe «it includes massage, pedicure, manicure, facial, makeup, and hair done. It was my mother’s day present, it was about $ 600 dollars package and to be honest, for that price I was expecting a good service and good quality of products, but I was terrible. Massage was ok, but everything else was a waste of time and money. The girl how did my makeup she I think she was having a bad day she seemed annoyed she didn’t even asked what type of makeup I wanted, and what she put on me made me look like an old racoon, when she told me to look at the mirror what I sow was like Halloween makeup to me, but I asked her nicely cud you please make a natural makeup, she wasn’t happy but she cleaned my face and did it again, yes she did the same raccoon makeup style, my face was to irritated and red that I didn’t want her to redone my makeup any more, and when she did my hair same thing she didn’t asked what I wanted so she made terrible too, I didn’t say anything I was about to cry, so I when back to my hotel room and I redone my makeup and hair all over again, it was a big red carpet event that we had that night, and I was late because I had to redo my makeup and hair. Oh and they expected a 25% gratitude tips what a joke: (

DISAPPOINTED!!!
I was so excited to visit the Marilyn Monroe Spa. I set apptointments online and was celebrating my birthday, so this was to be the start to my birthday weekend.
However, after spending $ 300+ on a Gemstone massage and Man/​Pedi, I am seriously disappointed, and feel ripped off.
As a avid fan of Marilyn, I was expecting a bit more in terms of design. A series of three pictures in the locker room, was the only hint of her, combined with outdated, slippery floors. The door leading into the salon had an etching of her, but not much else.
There were empty water glasses everywhere, and no one coming by to clean them up. Just a bad start.
The massage was not as described, and I just got a weird vibe from my therapist. I could have received the same massage from my boyfriend at home and saved myself A LOT of money. The therapist finished, handed me my robe, and was like, I’ll wait outside. No advice on drinking water to flush the toxins, or any info. Just like, thanks.
The mani/​pedi was a joke. $ 105 from something I would pay $ 35 for at the salon near my home. My manicurist got polish everywhere and had to constantly clean the spots where she made errors and was beyond rough with the tools. I was expecting a really great massage given the cost and time (80 min) given to this treatment. The pedi was worse. They are performed in this little area, and with 4 people in there, it is beyond clausterphobic. Pedi massage was about 2 minutes, and that was it. Again, lots of correction and then stabbing with the pointy tool on the end of the brush to correct her mistakes. She finishes my toes, slips the foam flip flops on and disappears.
NEVER SAW HER AGAIN!
So I sit for a few, get up and look around for her. No where to be seen. The other spa employees don’t say anything either. So, I am like ok… this blows.
The whole experience leaves a really bad taste in my mouth, and I wouldn’t recommend spending the money. Sad, but true.

I go to ember for my hair services and my hair has never looked better. She is so thorough and precise. During my consultation she helped me establish realistic goals for my hair and continues to wow me every time. The salon is beautiful and clean, it’s the perfect place!

Ask for EMBER for all your hair care needs. She’s fantastic! Not only does she know how to take care of your hair, but she also takes the time to teach you how to do it from home.
I have been blonde most of my life, but made the mistake of ‘going dark’ and hated it. Ember has worked with me to progressively lighten my hair and to protect it in the process. She saved my hair. :)
I have been a loyal customer through the transition from Kin Spa to Marilyn Monroe and was a bit skeptical of the new product line that came with the franchise change, but have been pleasantly surprised by their effectiveness. Where the old Kin Spa felt dumpy and dated for such a nice hotel, the updates make the new MM salon feel classy and hip.
MIKEY did my makeup for family pictures and did an amazing job. LOVE him! He’s fun to talk to and skilled at his profession.

I love coming to this spa! All the staff is very personable and sweet. My boyfriend came here to have his haircut over two years ago and introduced me to his stylist, Ember. She makes you feel comfortable and talks you through the vision you have for your hair. I’ve gotten my hair done three times now by her and she’s become my personal hair stylist too! Every cut she’s given me has been a collaboration of ideas and has made me more confident on the inside and out! They play the best music at the spa two giving it an all around good vibe when you visit!

The Marilyn Monroe Spa is one of the most beautiful place and details with everything you need when it comes to get a Spa service. The staff have done an amazing job and treated us the best ! I can say the customer service is been a 5 starts, best of the best when it comes to take care theirs guests. We are looking forward to go back to San Diego and spend a whole day at The Marilyn Monroe Spa again !!! Thank you to everyone there !

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Hyatt used to have a beautiful, relaxing, true SPA. Enter Marilyn Monroe Spa. Looking to get your hair or makeup done? Think loud, obnoxious, pumping music. Not a «spa» atmosphere for sure. Think quality products? Think again! The former spa (KinSpa) used epicuren products… top of the line. Marilyn Monroe Spa has its own brand of cheap product that you would buy at your local Ulta store. And the spa treatments? Well unless you want to use the cheap Marilyn Monroe brand products, you are out of luck because that is, of course, all they have. I scheduled a massage and facial, then realized all they used was this garbage so I cancelled. My husband got a wax… and the joys of a subsequent staph infection. Did I get any follow up after my phone call to the spa manager? Take a guess…
Stay away. If you want a relaxing spa treatment, unfortunately, you will have to look elsewhere. Hyatt really screwed up on this one by allowing the switch to this cheap, loud, garbage franchise.
Oh…and expect a big push at the end of your treatment to join the equivalent of a spa «health savings plan». Push push push… gotta try and get people to commit to losing money out of their account every month. Yes, you get a discount on services, but since they are overpriced anyway you won’t end up ahead. And of course it means you would have to subject yourself to this place more than once.
My advice is stay away.
Let’s also not forget… Marilyn Monroe was beautiful, it’s true, but ultimately she killed herself. Nice marketing campaign to fall on! (Or maybe she just went to one of her namesake spas…)
