Mak Cleaners

I received horribly rude customer service from the lady (with a heavy European accent) behind the desk. Normally I’m willing to pay their high prices because of the location of this cleaner, but now I will never return simply to avoid her awful manners.

I feel compelled to defend these people! OK — expensive yes. I paid $ 29.75 to dry clean one shirt, fix a hem and dry clean one part of pants, and steam one shirt. Yes: I was charged full dry cleaning price for something I just needed steamed. But I was warned in advance. There are no on-​site facilities. I think it’s silly that they are a cleaner and don’t even have a steamer. Whatever. I got past it. The point is, they are very nice every time I go in. I even got a «sweetheart» this week. ;-) They have never lost anything. They have never damaged anything. I have visited on and off for 6 years. They are my back-​up, as we have 2 dry cleaning services that deliver to my building in the Marina. Just do me a favor and give these guys a chance. Or, if you’ve had a good experience, help me get their rating up a little. :-)

BEWARE. If you want a cleaner who is somewhat accountable for their actions, then AVOID this place. They will not accept responsibility for mistakes whatsoever. I don’t know about you, but for me that’s a deal breaker. If anything goes wrong with your clothes, your chances of getting a satisfactory resolution at this place are very low… especially if you’re dealing with the old woman who has a thick accent behind the counter. Her manners are so awful, I literally ask myself if I might be on a hidden camera tv prank show whenever I speak to her.
The customer service at this place is awful. Here’s the latest example (of many):
I brought in some shirts to have them dry cleaned. My work shirts are VERY expensive so I ALWAYS have them dry cleaned (in order to maintain their life).
When I picked up my shirts, I noticed the bill indicated that the shirts were not dry cleaned, but instead were simply washed.
The lady at the front desk had the AUDACITY to tell me it was my fault. For the last 3 years I’ve been coming to this place and every time I always ask for dry cleaning.
All this woman had to say was «sorry we must’ve made a mistake when we made the computer entry, or perhaps we misheard you when you submitted the shirts», and I would’ve dismissed it and remained a customer.
But wow, she said told me that I was the one who ordered the incorrect service. Can you imagine someone telling you that you did something when you’re 100% sure you didn’t do it?
Unbelievable.
I see from many other reviews that this lady has treated other the same way. What a rude woman.

Why am I not surprised to find such low ratings for this dry cleaner.
The customer service is not only horrific — it is downright threatening.
I brought a down comforter in for dry cleaning. I was quoted a price, and based upon that price, gave them my business. When it came time to pick up the comforter, I was handed a bill twice the price of what I was quoted (by the way — the person who quoted me the price was the same person who handed me the bill).
When I told her that she quoted me a different price — she fought me, called me a liar, and even had the audacity to ask me who gave me that price. She did! She finally honored the price.
But that wasn’t the end of it. I walk by this establishment on my way to work. This woman noticed me walking by, and waited to confront me on my way to work. She literally stepped in front of me as I was walking to work and started to argue with me about the pricing situation.
Here we are, a year later, and she still goes out of her way to place herself directly in my path to give me the stink eye as I walk to work.
Do yourself a favor — stay away from this place. Heaven forbid you have a disagreement with this mentally unstable employee. You will find yourself being confronted by her a year later.

Have to agree this place is pricey for Downtown. Only reason I went there was because it was next door. Person there was nice and professional. Not worth it though. Will be going to a different place.

I wish I could rate this place with 0 stars. They have misplaced and lost two of my orders and the owner never got back to me. I’ve told them they need to discount and/​or provide me with free cleaning for the two times they messed up my order and they never followed through. This is a terrible place, never take your cleaning here!!!

Outrageous prices for bad dry cleaning! Mak didn’t have my suits ready on time, overcharged me, and damaged two of my suits.
They post a price of $ 12 per suit and when I dropped my suits off, they told me it would be $ 24. They did not have the suits ready on the date on the ticket. The next day, I was able to pick up the suits, but they charged me $ 35. When I protested, the clerk said if the suit is lined, the list price doesn’t apply. Of course, the suit was lined when I dropped it off so you’d think they would’ve told me their outrageous price then, but instead, one employee told me one price at drop off, and another charged me $ 11 more at pickup. Not cool.
I was already displeased with them over the price, but the clothes looked clean, so I thought they had at least done a good job on them. Then the next time I wore each of the suits, I realized they broke a button on the cuff of a jacket to one suit and tore a seam on the skirt of the other.
