Made In the Shade

Second time I have used Made in the Shade and Don. He is straight forward and explains everything. He will back up his work and def knows what he is doing. I highly recommend him, his tint is not the cheap stuff that will leave you feeling you regretted your decision.

Don tinted my home with all kinds of custom frosting mixed in. Don did prep work, took his time and did a great job. Everything came out better than expected and we are all super stoked about it. I only wish I had called Don sooner! Thanks

So I went down the list of tinting places on Unilocal,called about 15 places. Don wasn’t the cheapest (almost), but told me about the radio friendly tint, etc but wasn’t annoying with the sell. Took about 1.5 hour and car looks great!
2016 BMW 328i for all 7 windows $ 250. Highly recommended!

I’ve had 2 cars done by Don in the last 6 months the quality, the service and speed was great. He shows up on time, tells you exactly what, how and when he’s going to do it and keeps his promises. And he’s a really nice guy which makes working with him easy.

We were putting our older home, that we inherited, up for sale and I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get the windows cleaned until I accidentally scraped a window. It turns out that the windows were tinted and the film had deteriorated over the many years. I tried to get the film off myself, but it was beyond my abilities. I called Don, he came out the next day and did an awesome job of removing the old film at a reasonable price. I never thought to tint windows on a house, but what a great idea! I recommend Don for all your window tinting needs, including your home.

This is my 2^nd review for Don and Made in the Shade… Don tinted all the windows in my 2015 Sentra… and his price was competitive with others and he educated me regarding my options. So… I had Don come tint all the windows in my new home in Murrieta (and a few more windows in my truck). Just as Don said (and showed examples) my home windows with tint are not only MUCH cooler in the house, they provide better clarity and eliminated the glare. Now, instead of having to keep my blinds closed all the time due to glare or heat, I can enjoy my views, still watch my TV, and save money on my air conditioning bill! Don is very professional, timely, and does a great job. You can’t see any gaps or lines on my home or car windows to even know they weren’t done at the factory. I HIGHLY recommend Don and Made in the Shade!

This guy is AWESOME! Showed up within 24 hours of the call –priced the job three different options. Returned on time, ready to work –great quality workmanship. Cleaned up the job afterword and it looks fantastic. Really solved the torn tint by t he window washers but also solved the heat, glare and UV problem. I will definitely do business with him again.

Tinted over a dozen windows in my house. Professional and courteous and I am quite satisfied with the results. Would recommend. :)

***Extremely Rude and Unprofessional***
I called Made in the Shade at noon and asked if he was available to come to my house the following day and we made an appointment for 3. The next day at 3:30 I texted to see if he would make it. He told me he had no record of the appointment so I tried to call him to talk about it. Mistakes happen no big deal, we could have rescheduled. He picked up the phone and hung up on me. He then texted me saying that he checked his phone and he had no record of the call. I then texted him a picture of my phone log saying I had spoken with him for 8 minutes. He then changed his story to say that he picked up the phone and I didn’t say anything and he hung up. Furthermore, he said he wasn’t the only «Made in the Shade», so I was mistaken about who I called. It sure would be coincidental to have another business with your same name AND same phone number. Do NOT use this guy, he clearly doesn’t care about his customers. I will never know what quality work he does but having that interaction with him makes me want to warn those looking into him that they probably don’t want this person in their homes.

I contacted Don for my car tinting needs and Don was professional and on time. My car looks awesome with the tint. I recommend Don to my friends and family.

Initial Review 10÷14÷14, 1 day after getting my black 14 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid tinted with 20Rear/​50Front, Johnson Window Film.
Great overall service and early take is a very high quality job. The film is still curing so I’ll update again after the standard 4 day period. Don was great to work with and we did a Q&A exchange via email last week, then scheduled my tint job this past Monday. I work via email heavily so this was convenient to me. We met at a carwash I frequent where he has a presence and he walked me through everything in person, spending about 25 minutes with me when we met. Very detailed and assuring. Picked up the car 2 hours later after he gave it a courtesy carwash and it looked great! See pictures. Don spent another 15 minutes walking me through the care and warranty process should anything happen and personally guaranteed he’d fix anything if it came up. It’s been about a day and a half and it is curing quite nicely.
I picked Don due to two things, 1) the Unilocal reviews and 2) location convenience. 1) He has a ton of good reviews and comparatively, the only outliers are truly that — they clearly standout as wacky or anomalies and every other review was consistent on how great a job he does and how fair/​trustworthy he is. I wished the other reviews had more photos for cars stating the tint %, so I’ll post mine here. I got 20% in the back and 50% in the front. It came out very clean and sophisticated. 2) Don’s business is mobile meaning he can work in a convenient location to me and I could do something instead of wait around for two hours at some location 30 minutes away from where I need to be.
Thanks again Don! I highly recommend using him and avoiding any Groupons that sell you cheap film. I evaluated a ton of places and didn’t want to spend $ 500+ since my car isn’t that nice (although I think Don also offers the higher quality tint) but also didn’t want to get hustled by a $ 130 offer that just looks like crap. I got my high quality job with reliable tint with no hassle from a licensed contractor. Overall solid!
UPDATE 10÷23÷14 — Still looking good! Did not take any new photos, but the tint looks great, no bubbling as it has fully cured. The dot-​matrix looks good too! I highly recommend using this company and his products.

Incredibly professional, timely, affordable. He tinted my husband’s truck a few years back and just finished tinting our living room windows. He was several hundred dollars cheaper than other quotes we got and much more enjoyable to work with.
I would refer him to anyone and everyone. I wish I had more things for him to tint!

I have to say best customer service and tint job. I called about 15 places to tint my car and Don was the only one to explain to me the reason why I should get the tint I got for my euro car. Other places had no clue about my cars needs, most places were rude or short with me on the phone. Don is a man with patiences and went the extra mile, I was treated like a princess. Made in the Shade is the first tint place you should call, it’s worth the money and time spent. I’m extremely happy with my tint!!;)

All 3 tinting jobs have turned out perfect & he’s great when discussing the different tints that are available before doing the job. Very convenient mobile service, a good guy, reliable and does excellent work.

After reading all the reviews, and getting a couple competitive quotes, I chose to have my new truck tinted by Made in the Shade.
I chose to go with a rather light 50% tint, because in California, dark tint on your front windows will get you pulled over in a hurry. I didn’t want tint film on my back three windows because I felt the factory rear tint was dark enough. My main concern I brought to Made in the Shade was matching the color hue of the windows front to rear. The conflict here is that the rear tint is manufactured in the glass and makes it have more of a brown/​black hue, whereas the front UV treated windows are basically green in hue, so unless you go really dark on the front, it’s going to look green and clash with the rear tint.
At the advice of Don at Made in the Shade, we chose to go with a non-​metallic /​non-​ceramic film. He really impressed me with the time he took on the phone, and then again during our appointment to review with me and give his professional opinion on the different types of tint material he had available, and which one would work best for what I was trying to accomplish. In short, the tint films infused metallic/​ceramic material absorb solar energy a bit better, but produce a more reflective /​holographic effect on the windows, which can magnify the green hue of the front windows. He shared all the material samples and specifications with me, and even put samples of different types of tint on my front window for comparison before the final job was started. That is taking the time to go above and beyond what is required for such a competitive price!
In the end, it is impossible to perfectly color match windows unless they are all tinted with the same type of material, but Made in the Shade was spot on with their advice, and I truly feel we got it as close as possible considering the many variables. I am much happier with this tint job than I was the front window tinting done on my last truck.
Made in the Shade is mobile, but they also work with a local detailing shop to perform installs at their garage. Since it was only a few blocks from my office, I opted to meet Don there for the install on my way to work this morning. He arrived early and was prepared to get started right when I parked my vehicle. He had a bit of extra time before his next appointment so we ended up talking shop for a while, and he even hooked me up with some tinted vinyl and other tools to use on another part of my vehicle at no charge. Again, above and beyond what is required or expected!
I am very thankful for the experience I had today, and plan to take my wife’s car to Made in the Shade for a five window tint job asap. I posted a picture of the work performed on my vehicle today to the Made in the Shade company profile on Unilocal,and am very happy with the results.

This should be my second review of Made in the Shade because I have dealt with Don twice already. I have had 5 vehicles worked on and all have turned out immaculate. Don is a true professional and has delivered on every transaction.
He will come to your location (given you have a garage or an enclosed area) at a time convenient for both parties and had always been on time. He has an array of films; you just have to coordinate with him to see if they are available.
If there were six stars, he would have them. I highly recommend him for any vehicle tint work. I believe he does commercial and residential tinting as well, but I have not worked with him in that area (although I’m sure it is top-​notch as well).

Just had my camry tinted, don came out two days after i called him, showed up early and got the job done within 2 hours.
Very professional, we went over which color would best suite my car, now the car looks GREAT and feels alot cooler, my son is loving it.

Office window tint was crucial !!!
Done just saved my life !!! OK, maybe a little exaggeration, but it was so hot in my office that I could not work comfortably any more. He did a great job of installing the film, and he put calking around the edge, so it would not peel off. Don has tinted 3 of my cars in the past, and they have never had a problem. i always get a nice warranty folder from him, but I never end up using them. My office is way cooler now, and the tint does not block the view too much. I may do the glass doors on the first floor next…
