Be sure to bring a team so you’ll have a better shot at winning; all of our venues offer house cash or door prizes for 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd places. We also partner with our venues to offer specials to our valued trivia players. So ask when you come in to PLAY, DRINK and WIN!

History

Established in 2008.

LPT brought the pub quizzing business to San Diego (you’re welcome! hehe). When we started back in ’08, there were very few bars who were willing to give us a shot. We will always be grateful to Kelly’s Public House in Rancho Bernardo, 55 Yardline in San Marocs, and Poway’s Irish Pub in Poway. They provided the springboard to become what we have today! Many have tried to duplicate what we do, but there’s nothing like the original! Thanks also to our many pub quiz goers who have been ever growing and supportive!

Hi yelpers! Laurel here. Just want to say thanks for stopping by to check us out on Yelp. I brought LPT with me from the East Coast in 2008. As a religious trivia player for years, I understood it’s value and wanted to share my love of the game with you west coasters. We had a tough start trying to convince bar owners to give us a go at first, but my belief in our product and love of the game shined through in the end. I’ve worked day and night to break ground for pub quizzing in SD and wouldn’t trade it for anything! Thanks again for stopping by! See you around the trivia table!

My group of friends and I go every night and we LOVE IT! Nicole (quiz master) is really sweet and is happy to re-​read questions or help clear things up for you. I highly recommend going with a group. You’ll have fun even if you don’t do really well.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Strategic Trivia? Cool! Live Prize Trivia provides a unique experience for those looking to flex their intellectual muscle with a healthy dose of laughter and good people.
THE GAME:
Unlike most bar trivia I’ve experienced, this one gives players the opportunity to add some strategy to their game by assigning different point values to questions they’re sure or uncertain they know the answer to. This makes the game much more of a player’s game where a team can lose just as easily from a bad decision as an incorrect answer. The questions vary in difficulty week to week and often make you rack your brain for minute details most people overlook. This makes sweet taste of victory when you get a question right so satisfying.
Hosts at Live Prize Trivia nights are always fun, quirky, and sometimes snarky trivia enthusiasts themselves and often play on other nights they don’t host. My Monday night host, Jeff, takes the teasing from his weekly teams in stride and fires back in kind as only he can (usually with raucous laughter).
THE VERDICT:
Get out there and play! — As with all social trivia events, the game is made or broken by the community of people that frequent the game. My favorite night has nearly all the same teams each week and this makes the night lots more fun. Get a few friends together and head out for a few weeks. Get to know your competitors and it’ll enrich your trivia game exponentially!

We attend trivia on various nights of the week. All venues are good. The hosts are super fun and it is a great night out for a group of friends. Even if you don’t win there is always beer, music and conversation. How can you lose? Check it out!

Started playing this past summer once a month up at Orfila Winery in Escondido. BEST IDEA EVER! I have friends come from all over San Diego to join in playing… all the way from La Mesa to La Jolla to Carlsbad! We all LOVE the Team Trivia night! Our team has only won the trophy once, but regardless of where we place, we all have a BLAST!
Liz and Lexi are GREAT hosts! And the gang at Orfila are great! What a great venue, especially in the summer! Being only once a month, it becomes a ‘special occasion’ that we all look forward to. They’re wonderful enough to let you bring in outside food, so long as you buy the wine & other beverages from the tasting room. So we all look forward to our ‘potlucks’. This next time we are going with a Chinese Food theme!
I’ve even considered hitting some of the other Live Prize Trivia nights at other venues… but my team and I just LOVE the monthly night out at Orfila! We get to play out in the tent they use on the patio for weddings and it’s all lite up beautifully at night!
I just hope this review doesn’t bring in too many more teams to have to beat!

I recently moved to San Diego and have been dying to explore the night life in Hillcrest. I finally made it to Urban Mo’s and it happened to be trivia night – their new Monday gig!
I got their around 7:30pm on Monday and it was relatively full. I was by myself and wanted to scope it out.
Jesus was the trivia host from Live Prize Trivia and explained it was their first night in a new installment of Monday night trivia at Urban Mo’s. Jesus was friendly, funny and approachable and I appreciate the fact that he even «invited» me to play trivia even though I was alone.
The questions weren’t extremely hard and I’m typically horrible at trivia. The DJ played 90s music which I loved and sang every lyric to! I ended up getting a friend to join me and we had a blast! The place started getting PACKED with all the diverse hotties of Hillcrest. Everyone was extremely friendly and genuinely having a good time. I loved the vibe and I’m glad they added Monday night trivia at Urban Mo’s.
We left around 10pm. On the bike ride home I noticed not very many establishments were as full as Urban Mo’s.
In the words of 311, «Don’t stay home this time!» and I’m glad I made it out. I will definitely be back and I will also check out the other Live Prize Trivia nights/​locations.
Be a good sport! Don’t cheat. They will call you bitches out!!!

«Your enthusiastic host will then ask the first question and play a song. Your team will have the length of the song to discuss, debate, and turn in your answer. After the song is over and the answers are in, the host will anounce the answer and then ask the next question as the game continues.»

I have been playing live prize trivia for over 2 years now. Come hell or high water, I am there every week to play. It is so much fun!!! Where else can you hang with your friends, learn something new, test your knowledge, and most importantly, drink beer all at the same time? What a great way to make a slow night busy and draw a new crowd into your establishment!!!
