Legacy Apartments

I honestly don’t understand how this place can get such low reviews. I guess everyone has their own problems. I love living here! I live in the main area that it is kept up very well. I love living right next door to the stores, restaurants, and even a movie theatre. Since I am a Miramar College student that also works on campus, I rarely have to drive on the weekdays which is another plus. The gym is adequate for most, the pools and the pool areas are kept up well, the staff are very nice, and the tenants are very quiet. My only complaint is the rent is somewhat high, but that is common for the area.

This place has horrible communication between their staff and in general. I was approved for an apartment with a move in date of ¹⁄₂₉ (Friday). Three days later I received a phone call from the office saying the apartment would not be ready until ²⁄₂ (Tuesday). I requested a ²⁄₅ move in date because I have to work during the week. They said if I did that, the rent would increase $ 27/​month. I asked why I have to pay rent for 3 extra days rent when it was their mistake? I was told that’s just how it is and I could either take it or pay higher rent. I requested that they make an exception because it was their mistake. I was told they would look into it and I would be called the next day. I never received a call back. I ended up finding another place. When I called to cancel, I was told they were going to keep my deposit. It sucks losing $ 400 but it seems like a small price to pay to live someplace where you are actually valued as a tenant. The single worst experience I have had with a rental. I should have read some of these reviews on Unilocal before I put down my deposit.

They’ve had multiple managers, it shows. Granddaughter an I walked in from the rear side of the property (the pedestrian gate was open) We saw rusty air conditioners, rusty rails on balconies, buildings of need of fresh paint, storage/​junk filled patios, mushrooms through out the landscape, by the pool area the umbrellas open and laying on ground, music playing and three males jumping into the pool. For the price you’d expect well groomed and maintained buildings. The leasing agent was very pleasant, informative.

Ok so plummer unclogged drains sept 25^th put call in to management to clean black wet carpet and never got a call back my daughter myself and my husband and the nanny can not believe the smell in her apt, she is moving out and it has not even been a full month, she pays good rent and this is not acceptable that managemant fails to respond, they are not doing their job for which they are paid for. I do not want my daughter and grandchildren living in such a horrid complex

My friend made an appointment to view the apartments the day before. When we came in, they made us wait over 20 minutes before someone finally came to help us. Then they told us that the information was in the system for my friend, but an appointment wasn’t made. They also forgot to give me back my driver’s license after the tour. I definitely wouldn’t recommend, they’re very unorganized and don’t seem to care.

I honestly do not think it’s that bad. My boyfriend and I have lived here for one year with our dog and just renewed our lease today. The parking situation sucked when we moved in but now that they’re done building the express ramp there’s usually more parking. Especially with the ride and share 3 minute walk away. My neighbors are mostly military folks and for the most part everyones been super cool.
We have a garage with a tandem space that’s pretty close to our apartment and we pay an extra $ 150 a month. We technically have four spots with the garage (blank space, reserved numbered space, garage space, tandem space). We’ve never got charged for backing into a space or parking too close or anything like that. Sometimes we park our car near our apt then bring groceries up but we don’t leave it there overnight as the curb is marked red FIRE LANE.
We’ve had no issues with the Legacy staff everyone has been very accommodating. The first month we moved in my boyfriend accidentally wrote the wrong routing number to pay for rent and when we explained the situation the management staff took the late charge off. No biggie.
The apartments are under new management so I don’t know if the previous staff is what everyone is complaining about. Henry was probably the best. Chung is the manager now and she is very level headed and understanding.
We’ve called a couple times about our air conditioner not working in the living room and they came in the next day and fixed it.
The only think that sucked is that they raised our rent $ 106 but when we tried looking around in the area, everywhere else charged way more for less than Legacy offered (pool, gym, gated, pet friendly, Washer/​dryer in unit, close to everything) I just wish there were elevators :(but it’s better for exercise :{ I guess.
Yes. people have had bad experiences here but there are like a gazillion units here. So not everyone’s experience will be up to their standards. If it were that bad these units wouldn’t be as full as they are. When we went in to sign today it was busy with people trying to get apartments. Every place has its negative and its positive this place will give you the most bang for your buck.

Some of these reviews are kinda unfair. My husband and I lived at Legacy for 2 years. While I wouldn’t consider it to be a luxurious place, it certainly could be worse. It’s difficult to find apartments that have a garage and an in-​unit washer/​dryer at an okay price. It really is a great central location too. Yes, parking sucks, but if you follow the rules, you won’t be towed. Security and maintenance are pretty much a joke. And yes they will absolutely positively raise your rent (significantly imho) each year. Overall our experience wasn’t terrible. The office staff is okay. Neighbors are usually quiet. Can’t beat the low security deposit, but don’t expect to get much of it back.

Update: My husband is now home from deployment and he just went to the office to schedule to have our carpet shampooed since we NEVER received our courtesy shampoo after renewing our lease. He was told we can not have our carpet shampooed because we were to schedule it 30 days after we signed the new lease. I called the office and spoke with someone (the same woman I spoke to previously who I do not even care to remember her name). I asked her if this 30 day policy was in writing and she stated NO!!! Now please tell me how they expect you to know this pertinent information if 1. they do not tell you and 2. it is not in writing. I again advised her of our major dog hair problem when we moved in and that my toddler is allergic to it, but she did not care. This apartment complex is a major joke. We pay our rent on time every month and can not even get a courtesy shampoo on our carpet, which is the least they can do for us after lying to us and telling us the carpet was new. If you are looking to move to a nice complex were they actually respect their tenants, this place is not it. As for the follow up comment they posted for my previous review, so much for trying to rectify the situation. They can care less, but if I pay my rent $ 1 short then they will hound me by putting notices on my door. DISGUSTING!!!

I live in legacy one year! That’s so terrible! The manager of the the apartment is so ridiculous! When no one at home, we always revived the phone call to complain is too noise at home! What the hell?! Do you have some experience like this? Hahaha… By the way, is so expensive of the rent! It didn’t worth the price! Finally, I can move out! Thanks god! F**king legacy!

Where to start, firstly, the front office is a joke!!! They take forever to get ahold of and once you’re moved in, they won’t even fix all the broken things in the apartment. Ice machine broken, the carpet was never replaced, bathroom lights don’t work, and the front door has a missing seal… You call them and they say they can’t fix it. BULLSHIT!
Secondly, their so called «security» is by NPR. They are actually a SCAM parking company that will give a ticket for your car being too close to another car or sticking out or within the lines but not evenly spaced left to right. And then they want you to pay to a PO box or over the phone. Sorry, not happening!
Ps: the parking spaces can barely fit a small compact car, let alone a full size sedan.
ALSO! It’s by the highway, good luck getting sleep at night listening to the freeway, and don’t try closing the windows cause the A/​C doesn’t work, but jacks up ur electric bill

I am a current tenant here and I, too, am counting down until I can get out of here! This is by the far the worst apartment that I’ve ever lived in. Do not let their «luxury» claim fool you. This is nowhere near luxury.
My first complaint is I that feel like every imaginable thing has gone wrong. Our apartment has never felt «clean» to me since we moved in. The details in their repairs is horrendous. Everything’s always broken. For example, our cabinet doorknob handle broke and they replaced it with a totally different doorknob! Our AC is currently broken. Our bathroom light switch is broken. In fact, they already fixed it twice and it broke again! Our HVAC filter is disgustingly DIRTY! It looks like they haven’t ever changed it! Don’t they have a checklist of what to look for before tenants move in?!
We live on the first floor and we recently had a flood that leaked through our walls from the laundry machine on the second floor. As a result, our carpet got damaged. They gave us these two huge fans and told us to leave them on for three days straight! Those things were so hot and loud, it felt as if an airplane was taking off! Nevermind being a safety hazard to our children. We were also required to replace a section of the carpet. I have two young children who take naps in the day time. So when they asked us if they could replace it the next day, my husband asked them if they could schedule it on the weekend instead which was more convenient for us and they gave him a big attitude about it! As if that wasn’t bad enough, two weeks later, we had another flood that came from the THIRD floor this time and our carpet got damaged again! They probably had to replace the carpet from the second floor twice as well! OMG, how dumb could they be?! Why didn’t they do a thorough check on all the floors in the beginning?! They gave us another fan and made us keep it on ²⁴⁄₇ for four more days straight! It was so inconvenient, annoying, and unsafe! We could hardly watch TV or sleep! Ugh!
Yes, it’s true, parking is a nightmare here, and YOU WILL GET TOWED OR FINED if you don’t have a permit. I saw people get fined for everything like parking over the line or backing your car in. The staff here is the grumpiest and rudest bunch of people you’d ever meet. Whenever we’d complain about something, they would always say that they would speak to their manager and I really think that they use that as an excuse for everything because nothing would ever come out of it! When we were still moving in, we were unloading our u-​haul throughout the night. My husband wanted to take a break and resume with unloading in the early morning. Well, that was a bad mistake because we got slapped with a $ 150 fine! The apartment and tow company staff were really unsympathetic with our case too. The only visitor parking they have are the ones near the leasing office. They also suggest to park at the movie theaters. If you’ve visited the complexes before, they are poorly developed because one side of the complex was built alongside to the freeway and the other complex was built on the opposite side. So most of the complexes are not near the leasing office! You still have to drive to pick up your guests. I never had a guest who was able to locate our apartment on their own without giving them specific detailed directions. The way they built the complexes are very confusing and I feel that they built the apartments after the freeway was built.
I guess people don’t sleep around here too because you can hear your neighbors doing all sorts of things at wee hours of the day. Yes, you can hear them shower, turn on the faucet, opening/​closing their garage or even shutting their doors. Living next to the freeway doesn’t help with the constant noise as well.
The only reason why we moved into this apartment complex is because we’re in the middle of moving into our new home and we needed a garage to store all of our belongings. We also liked how it’s close to as well as walking distance to some restaurants and grocery stores.
If you can, look for an apartment elsewhere! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

After completing a 12month lease I have to say overall the experience was not great. Upon move out I ace dealt with paper thin walls and floors. The neighbor above walking would literally shake my entire apartment awaking me from sleep at midnight and even 0200 in the morning. Flea infestation from the neighbors unclean dogs and mice from the neighbor hoarding and collecting trash in front of their door. There were random people running up and down the stairs at all hours slamming of doors and missing packages from front doors. parking is horrific. The management claims there is no way around assigned parking spaces for apartment when the numbers have no correlation to the apartment and could easily be reassigned or moved when someone drives a large truck and is wedged between two people who cannot for the life of them park within their lines — practically diagonal. I cannot even count the number of ding dong ditches and when calls are made to the «night security» they ask which apartment property you are at because they are not even present!!! There was a change in management /​employees and there was a clear decline in service and care. The worst is the discrepancy on move out refund. Upon move in if your apartment is not cleaned and they promise to notate and not penalize you; make sure it is in writing and you have a copy! My apartment was not cleaned due to «time limit» and told it would be noted… It was even noted on the move in check list but some how it was misplaced and the note is «missing». The noise from the freeway is ²⁴⁄₈ and the gates are left open all night causing randoms free access. I can’t count the amount of times I came home to find cars waiting at the gate to slip in with who ever opens the gate rendering the «gated private community» pointless and the side gates wide open anyway so anyone can walk right in to steal packages and vandalize vehicles. management claims to be there to mediate issues between tenants but clearly not the case with feels infestation, vandalism, pranks, and noise issues with night security on complete different properties which makes it impossible to mitigate the issue at hand. the prices are much too elevated for washer and dryer that do not work– you need to dry loads 3−4x for complete dry and a dish washer that does not clean plates even if you pre wash. The truth should be put out there when unknowing future tenants have no idea what they are walking into. The location may be key but take note the freeway is constantly loud and the structural build of the apartments are poor therefore everything is felt and heard. The cons very much outweigh the pros so beware.

First let me say I do not write negative reviews before I try and solve an issue directly with the person or company involved. In this case I have tried to resolve the issue to no avail…
In mid November 2014 my wife and I decided to give Legacy Apartments a try as were looking at Westview Village and Compass Pointe to live for the next 1 – 2 years. The Unilocal reviews were low but, figured we see the property for ourselves. We were looking for the 3 BR that was available January 14^th 2015 with a garage and an assigned parking spot on their website. Upon entering the office, we received no greeting as the lady and guy to the right were busy talking to the maintenance crew about a unit that needed some work. After waiting a long time/​walking by the office multiple times to get her attention, she said she be with us shortly and after about 5 minutes of waiting she yelled out she can help us now so we came in her office. We told her we were interested in the 3 BR and she said Henry will help us. We told him we saw a 3 BR coming available for January 14^th, 2015. He said he didn’t see it in his system, only a December 9^th availability. He then looked at another place and found it. They did not have a 3 BR to see so we looked at a model 2 BR. It looked fairly dated but we weren’t worried as we’d only be there for a short period of time. He said to apply we’d have to go online and submit our information which we did after some thought over the next week. He said a $ 400 refundable deposit would apply. This was fine with us. We submitted the info and were approved for the unit. In early December we decided it’d be best to stay where we were and made do with the 2 BR we were in to avoid a move and cost associated with it. We called Henry and he told us that the deposit was only refundable for 72 hours and said he told us that and that when we submitted our info online it said the same. I didn’t see it nor did he tell us this. I asked to speak to his manager (the lady) and she said she told us the same. This was untrue because she never did. I then asked to speak to her manager and she gave me the number to the corporate office. I left a message for the manager there and got a call back from Maria. Maria said she was going to forward the request to her manager and I got a call back from a lady. She left me a message and I called her back and have yet to hear back from her. On December 12^th, we decided to go look at the December 9 availability to get a gauge of what it looked like in case we were going to have to take the unit on Jan 14. She still hadn’t rented it at that time and said that «DUE TO RESIDENTIAL LAWS SHE WAS SORRY FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO REFUND OUR MONEY» This then upset me even more BECAUSE IT DIDN’T EVEN SOUND TRUE, in addition to seeing the unit and how run down it was. The appliances were way out dated, flooring baseboards swollen, painted over countertops and the passageway to the garage looked like a horror movie (best way to describe the flooring condition, holes in the wall and black hand prints streaked on the wall). My wife will be submitting a review of the inoperable amenities that the apartments have as she critiqued those the most. Good Luck to anyone who looks to rent here. The reduced rent is not worth the experience and headache to put your family through. It certainly wasn’t for me. I will keep you posted on any updates. We have now decided to move as we originally planned, I will let you know which of the two nearby communities we chose to move.

Where do I start I’m a military guy been living here for four months and I HATE IT major parking issues they towed my car and didn’t give a crap that it was mine charged me $ 300.00 dollars. Trouble calls are horrible my fridge won’t close sink leeks and ac doesn’t work. Management are rood horrible unethical people that don’t care about anything. I have a family with two kids registered sex offenders all over the place. Building is unsafe there are signs everywhere stating the building is built with asbestos and they are not responsible for anything because it’s posted. High school thugs hang out smoking drugs in the hallway s and there is no security. Amenities are always secured with problems. Constantly there is vandalism with no support. Hookers constantly hangout by the highway right near. The gates that are supposed to be shut closed don’t work. STAY AWAY me and neighbors are breaking our lease because it’s that horrible. I am really not a person who takes time to right a review but I’m living in hell here I hate every second of it. Don’t let me forget it’s pet friendly there is dog poop everywhere you can’t step anywhere without getting it all over your shoes. Don’t move here it’s worse than a rundown hotel. Stay away!!! Oh yea almost forgot when talking to management today he laughed at my concerns pretty much told me corporate doesn’t care about my concerns as long as rent is paid. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT REVIEWS OR MY BUSINESS! They stated clearly I want to write so much more but I am stressing myself out thinking about it. STAY AWAY if you read reviews they are only response is to potential residents. I hate this place with a passion. I want to stand in front of the complex with a sign don’t move here they do not need to be in business. I am so ready to meet corporate in person I will take vacation and pay for the flight that’s how upset I am.

Where do I begin!
The ad online said $ 1870/​month for a 2 BD. The lady with whom I booked the appointment said their pet policy had no restrictions for Huskies. Go to the place the next day and meet this guy at the front desk. He says the rent is some $ 2000 odd for the 2BD. When I mention the ad, he says their rates change everyday like a plane ticket!!! WTF!
And guess what, he says they don’t allow huskies, so me and my partner taking time off from work and driving all the way there was for nothing! If this is how they manage, I don’t want to even consider living there!

Potential Resident Review
My husband and I were so excited to see these apartments but when we arrived the greeting we received was just awful. When we walked into the leasing office we were greeted with a «What do you need?» in a rude tone of voice buy a lady. I figured since she was pregnant that she was just hormonal and forgave that first rude comment but later found after walking a sister property that she’s basically hated by most employees of the company. She continued to give us attitude and she gave us a bad taste about this place. As far as the units go, we loved them. They were spacious, beautiful and the grounds were nice. The parking situation seemed a little messy and we weren’t told anything about the freeway construction above the buildings until reading reviews so we were very annoyed by that. I am very big on reviews and we decided to move to another location because of our experience. I don’t want to deal with people in the leasing office who are just rude. I can’t speak for all of the employees but I know the one we encountered wasn’t pleasant. This company needs to make sure it’s employees are kind hearted people who do well in customer service because they are losing business from it.

I currently live here, just moved in a little less than a month ago and we’re counting down the days until our lease expires.
Although the apartments themselves look incredible and the location is very convenient, looks are definitely deceiving when it comes to this complex. My best friend and I originally lived in a studio (we’re college students so it was like living in a dorm to save money) and when we took a tour, they told us that electricity, water, garbage, and every single utility was included. Also, we have three cars and they had informed us that we would be able to park on the property.
The day we finally sign the lease and get the keys, they told us that nothing was included and there were only two cars allowed on the property. Funny, we moved in with my best friends parents so we could SAVE MONEY because we’re broke college students who can barely afford education as it is and they want everything paid separate! Exact words I was told when signing the lease were «you can either park in a neighborhood blocks away or risk getting towed by the movie theater.»
Much to their dismay, I got a parking citation yesterday for parking overnight in the theater lot.
I can’t enjoy living here without worrying about my car and the first night we moved in, my roommate got her car towed after she registered her vehicle with the office and everything.
I’m surprised this place hasn’t gone out of business just yet. It feels like we’ve been scammed and we’re stuck here for another 12 months. Kudos, Legacy. Thank you for lying to my roommate, misinforming her parents, and not being able to enjoy living in a «luxury» rental, as your front lawn sign says.

I am gonna hit on some key points.
Pros
The location is amazing. Not only is it close to the freeway but also the giant shopping center. Not just close, I mean it has direct access to the movie theater and restaurants.
The model we toured was the 2 bedroom, with attached garage and even had tandom parking behind the garage. It seemed to be well built inside and out with plenty of storage.
The grounds were well maintained and the community pool was packed full of people all seeming to get along. Huge plus friendly neighbors.
Cons
Parking seemed to be a headache from the get go for guests. Since we have friends and family over all the time it seemed to be a headache to park at in the shopping center and make them walk over to us.
Also they are doing the freeway construction going through the community and the «planned» target date for completion was not too promising. We had just been through something like that last time.
Animals, we don’t have a dog but were looking to get one in the future, and since they can not say no pets they have designed buildings that only allow pets. So you limited to where you can have animals. So they stick you in the apartments located in the back of the community so the dogs and keep to messing up only the back property. That was what we told.
The gym was ok, nothing to fancy, lots of space but I was expecting something a little nicer to go with the rest of the community.
Same goes for the inside movie theater. They are planning to update, but when we visited the location it was old and out of date. My tv is definitely better then the one in the theater room.
This place seemed to be an okay place to live mainly for the outside conveniences and not so much the community features.
It did not have the boom wow factor when we walked in or away from the location and therefore continued our search.

Like all the other reviews the one star is because it wont let me give a –500.
THIS PLACE SUCKS… the management is the rudest I have faced till date and I have lived in communities with bad management but this is the worst…
The guys in the office dont care when someone is standing there waiting for them. they keep staring at the computer and you have to ask them multiple times before you get service.
Move into these apartments if you live like a hermit frog and dont intend to have friends… cos if you have friends over they cannot park inside the community… you have to make them park in the theatre complex or somewhere else and them give them a ride to your house and back…
If you have visitors from out of town you are screwed… let them not rent a vehicle cos you dont have parkig for that and it will get TOWED…
Even if you are a resident if you get a rental car and park it inside IT WILL GET TOWED. and the community staff will not help you what so ever cos thats the rule «NO VISITOR PARKING».
You need to register your car and buy a parking decal even those decals have rules. you can only park here with this colored decal. your car will get towed/​ticketed otherwise…
Thats about the parking situation. now coming to the biggest problem… You love right ON I-15…so dont expect to sleep during busy weekends… to add to the woes… we now have construction going on which make the entrace to the community only one car wide. so if someone is exiting the complex u gotto wait outside till everyone leaves.
The construction is to provide a access ramp to I-​15 from Hillery Dr, so you have a HIGHWAY ACCESS RAMP THAT RUNS THROUGH YOUR APARTMENT COMPLEX… if you are fine with that. move in and dont complain about the traffic noise later…
With all these delightful features these apartments are priced above many other complexes in the area…$ 1450 for a single bedroom…
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMMUNITY…

All I have to say is what a horrible place. Do not move here. I have countless stories of what a crap apartment complex this is.
First of all, there is a freeway ramp now being built in the middle of the complex. So if you love hearing the freeway all day & night, then you’ll love it. The apartments are totally overpriced for what it is. It’s not updated and nothing has been replaced. There was tape holding up the microwave vent. Then the washing machine broke and we got water damage on the carpet and some of our furniture. The only thing they did right was fix it right away and told us they wouldn’t charge us for the ruined carpet since it wasn’t our fault. BUT we recently moved out and they said they couldn’t promise anything. UHH it’s not our fault the crap you put in broke.
Prob the worst part is the parking. There is none. But they force everyone to buy a pass. BUT THERE AREN’T ENOUGH PARKING SPOTS.
If you move here, I’m sorry. Try and make it through then move out when your contract is up.
