This is a great place to live and raise a family. Davis the property manager is wonderful and will help you with any problems that may arise in your tenancy. I highly recommend this property to family’s. Great school system nice community great staff. Thank You Davis and scripps landing team!

I’ve lived here for 4 years after selling a home in Scripps Ranch. I thought it would be temporary but I’ve stayed this long because it’s almost like being on vacation, not having to maintain a roof, a yard, etc. The units are well designed and the neighbors are great. The exterior was painted last year and looks nice. In the past year or so, they’ve changed landscape maintenance contractors and the landscaping (which used to be of resort quality) has gone downhill in some places and there will be pieces of trash on the ground for a couple of days, which never would have happened before. The yearly $ 120+ rent increases have resulted in quite a few long time residents moving, which gives the place a more transient feel than in the past. They put in a dog park in the lower area which isn’t maintained at all and looks terrible. Two years ago I would have given 5 stars but they really need to get back to what made this location so great in the past.

We have had a wonderful living experience at Scripps Landing. Every aspect has been above expectations. The staff is amazing, every one we have been in contact with has been exceptional. The grounds are clean and kept up every day, parking is just fine with Newley widened spaces! If there is any suggestions the management takes them into account and usually does act on the things that are suggested. These staff members are so genuine and we are sad to leave. If we didn’t have to move a cross country for a job, we would be staying long term. Our check out was seem less just like our living experience. Thank you Scripps for a great apartment and we will really miss you.

Well everybody this place hands down is the best for the price. I have lived here for less than a year, but I will tell you this place has made me very happy. The interior sure are a little dated but the building is older! That being said the dedicated parking spaces are wide enough for my full sized 4 door pickup (a rarity within SD). The exteriors were recently painted and very good looking. The management is absolutely amazing! Need a service request they are there the next day! The grounds are jus pretty the landscaping is pretty generous considering the drought environment of Scripps Ranch. My neighbors are fantastic! This complex allows residents to have MOST dog breeds except for Pitbulls BOO! But that is pretty standard. All community issues are handled in a timely fashion by management. There are FULL size washers and dryers in the units! Also btw I forgot to say this WALK IN CLOSET! And oh by the way with the rent deal of course it will go up every year! SUPPLY AND DEMAND BASIC ECONOMICS! A But if you read nothing else from all this I love it here and have no plans on leaving!

It’s our first apartment so eh it’s okay but neighbors here are fairly awful. Our upstairs neighbor has made living here Hell. He watches me leave every day from his upstairs window and repeatedly bangs on our ceiling with what sounds like bricks. Also i don’t know if we just picked a bad time to move in or what but since we have lived here it seems they are always doing some kind of construction right outside our door. Today I woke up to find we had no water and did not receive anything telling me that that would happen prior to this morning. Rent is ridiculous here for the size of the apartment that is for sure. We don’t even have room for a table or a couch in the living room! We have had problems with ants since we moved in. I’ve had to attack our home with bug spray. There have been some problems with raccoons as well on our balcony and when we called the office they told us we would have to call animal control that would then charge us $ 100 to remove it! The staff is friendly but not especially helpful. Pet deposits are extremely high. We have $ 800 on them plus the $ 400 deposit on the home and I am not convinced we will be seeing our deposits again unless we get legal help which believe me we will over that. I’ve called maintenance about our dryer that has not worked since day one and they have come three times and never fixed it! Ventilation is also bad and so far we have had to take down our smoke alarm in the kitchen because it goes off every time we cook or turn the stove on! Overall I guess it isn’t the worse apartment in the world but it’s not worth renewing your lease over. I’m actually hoping we find a way to just terminate the lease early!

We have been living here for just over a year now, and mostly love it. The staff is really friendly and know us by name. The apartments are well taken care of, newly painted outside, and the landscaping looks great. We love the pool and BBQ area too! It’s pretty quiet, our neighbors are great, which makes a difference!
We have a 2 bedroom, and the bathrooms are way bigger than other apartments I’ve seen. We have a big walk-​in closet in the master and a very large bathroom. Also have a washer and dryer in the patio storage area, which is great!
The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it isn’t perfect. The kitchen cabinets definitely need to be updated, they’re scratched, worn, and have holes from previous tenants. Our lease just came up, and our rent went up by $ 145/​month. It wasn’t worth it to move and find a less expensive apartment, but it’s definitely a drawback of renewing a lease.
We have never had problems with parking, after we moved in, they repainted the parking spots and made it easier to park.
Overall, we love living here, and are happy to stay another year.

I lived in this community for two years, and finally moved out in mid July after learning of a second major rent increase and observing deteriorating management. I don’t usually give such bad reviews, but I would strongly recommend people to look elsewhere. This has been the worst rental experience I’ve ever had.
First, the rent dramatically increases every year, and it goes up by a lot ($ 120/​month the first year, $ 100/​month the second year). It’s owned by a big real estate company (H.G. Fenton), so it’s not a very humanistic management team. The staff is «fake» friendly… especially when you move in. When you’re moving out, not so much. So be prepared with legal resources if you want to get your deposit back.
The maintenance team was nice and responsive to minor requests and sprayed every year for black widows, but issues such as a broken heater took two weeks to fix. I know we live in San Diego, but it was COLD in there! Aesthetically, the complex needs some work, as well. It’s been half-​painted for about a year now and the management has said they’re still getting bids from painters, but in the meantime it looks like low-​income housing. (Embarrassing if you are having friends over.) Also, it’s right next to the highway, so be prepared for the noise. Some people don’t mind that, but it was annoying to me.
Finally, there’s very little attention paid to the apartments lower on the hill… my neighbor left his garbage outside of his door for days and I’ve requested that the apartment wash the shared landing area, and they never did so while I was living there. Oh, and guest parking is impossible at times because some renters have multiple cars or very large cars that take up more than one space.
When it comes time to renew your lease, the management team only gives you three days (that’s right THREE days) to review the new rent rate and decide whether you’re moving or not. Otherwise they will charge you for every day you are still contemplating your decision. I actually had negative days because I didn’t receive the letter until closer to mid-​month. This is when the big real estate company mentality is at its worst. There is no negotiation or friendliness… zero.
Overall, this place is more palatable when you are a brand new tenant… which is why you’ll notice that most of the positive reviews are coming from new tenants. Just keep in mind that rent will rise significantly and sooner or later you will be moving out. When you do, I can guarantee it will be costly and frustrating! In my opinion, there are so many better places and at much better prices to live in the Scripps Ranch/​Mira Mesa area! Look around before landing at Scripps Landing.

I moved here in early December. The staff has been absolutely wonderful, especially Andrea! I’ve had a few repair issues with my apartment, and everything has been promptly addressed. The grounds are always well kept. I live in the gated part of the community which is a bonus, but the only negative is that parking is hard to find for guests if you should ever have any. Otherwise, I love it here! :D

This place is horrible!!! All the bad reviews are true, I almost feel like they moved into my unit LOL. When I moved in, my place was a DISASTER!!! Literally — Spider webs, dog hairs, black mold like substances, broken towel racks. My pilot light was not on so I could not cook for days. The water was FREEZING as I lived on an end unit. True story — ran the bath on full hot water side. Went to get in and it was cold water. The water was running for 15 minutes and absolutely could not even take a warm bath! Same with showers in the morning — got freezing cold water. Monique in the office is lazy as can be and could CARE LESS! I hated this place. You also get freeway noise. Parking is a pain in the butt. Good luck inviting friends over. My unit also had a horrible musty, wet dirt smell to it (as I believe there was mold). Overall, I would give this dump negative stars if I could. Would highly advise against moving in here!!!

I do not understand these reviews! This place is amazing. My husband and I just moved in, so I will update this in a few months. But, so far, I am so impressed by the staff, amenities, and complex.

I have lived here for about four months now and I absolutely love it! The apartments are in a great location, far enough away from the freeway so that you don’t need to hear any of that extra noise, but close enough so that you can get to where you need to go quickly. The pool and the spa really caught out attention by how well maintained it remains at almost every hour of the day, always clean and at the perfect temperature to make everything very comfortable, I rarely see the pool crowed except for the really hot days. The front office staff is amazing and always helpful and energetic, willing to make sure that everyone’s home is just how they need it. Maintenance guys have arrived quickly and help fix the problem right away. We had a blown porch light and the maintenance guys needed a new bulb and we had one the next day which he installed.
I would say the some downfalls that we have encountered with is, that there could have been a little more insulation in the walls. Sometimes the house is colder with chilly days and vice versa with warm days. Along with the insulation it also makes it easier to hear the people that live above or below you. Its not a huge problem, just remember that if you have a big dog or know that you have heavy feet I would suggest a bottom floor apartment to make everyone happy.
The parking is tight and it does really depend on the time of day if you will get a spot close to your home or a little walk away. I would say if you arrive around rush hour it will be tough to find a spot or at least one that you can fit comfortably in.
The apartment complex has defiantly taken notice about the crime issue that people were reporting and hired a new security team which I have seen doing roves multiple times a night and almost every day of the week (that I have seen).
All in all, I love it here, the people are friendly even the other tenants. I couldn’t ask for a better place to stay in San Diego.

Upon moving in, the carpet was filthy with black dog hair everywhere! The bath tub was peeling. We submitted a request to have the carpet replaced before our furniture arrived. They replaced the carpet that should have been completed before we even moved in. Throughout living there the office staff is friendly. It is when you move out, they charge you for absolutely everything.
We are very clean people. We lived here for six months. For our move out, we are required to paint the walls. This includes where any scuff marks or nail holes in the wall.
After scrubbing the place from top to bottom, we were charged a fee of $ 65 for carpet cleaning, $ 30 for additional painting, which included scuff marks on some of the base boards, and a $ 100 dollar cleaning fee! Leaving us with next to nothing. Why did we even waste our time cleaning a single thing? We spent an entire day wiping baseboards and even cleaning out the cracks on the sliding glass door.
Additionally, the parking places are so small! The passenger had to hop out before parking. Otherwise, good luck getting out of your car!
The hot water takes about five minutes to get warm/​hot. We wasted so much water just waiting for it to heat up before taking a shower, washing dishes, or washing our hands with just warm water.
The new security they hired seems to not be good for anything. I came home to find someone’s belongings strewn around my designated parking place. I called the office and brought turned the belongings in. Why didn’t their security notice bags strewn around the parking lot as if someone was robbed.
They also do not monitor who parks their cars in the visitors places. While they give a parking pass to place in your window it is pointless. We had one truck that a lady rarely even started and was just left parked right outside our door. What is the point of the parking passes, that they will charge 50 dollars to replace, if parking is not regulated?
I do not recommend moving here. The girls in the office seem to just put on an act of friendliness and even asked us for a Unilocal review. I’m glad we are now home owners and will never have to look back at Scripps Landing.

I read some of the past reviews here, and must say that those reviews do not reflect the community that the place is now. The community did have its shortcomings. But it would seem that the management here keep up with the reviews, because most or maybe all of the complaints I read about here has actually been addressed.
1. Hot water is no longer shared and is readily available. This renovation was done right when I moved in. I guess I lucked out!
2. Yes, the parking can come at a premium especially when you have more than 1 car to your household. You get one designated covered parking and the other would be permitted parking on a first-​come first-​serve basis. The parking issue has been mostly resolved as the permitted parking is now actually enforced. The spaces can be bigger though…
3. Safety can vary of course. What I can say is, Scripps Ranch is generally considered a good neighborhood. I am glad they got rid of their previous security company «Carlson Security.» I stayed at two places that used this company, and they do nothing at all and is rarely if ever around! But yes, they do use a another security company now that has more of a presence.
As for the community, its location is quite good. It is close enough to the freeway and main road to be convenient, but quiet enough. The management and staff here are professional and always courteous. They are very attentive to tenants and shows that they take pride in what they do. And for some reason, the neighbors here are some of the nicest people I’ve met in San Diego! I think for what you get, the rent here is very reasonable. I definitely recommend this community for renters.

Pretty calm apartments, for some reason it seems everyone is mature here. Neighbors are all quiet, except around the pool, summer time. But that is pretty common. Parking is at a premium and the spots are tiny. If you come after 7pm, good luck finding one.
In a period of about 3 months someone tried to steal my motorcycle, only the dead battery saved it from being gone, they broke into my car (smashed window) The surveillance cameras are a joke. They couldn’t find any footage of the criminals.
There is convienece fee to pay utilities online.
Not a bad place to live if you can afford it. Only drawback for me is that I’m always worried about my cars at night. I’ve got two or three door dings on my new car and the theft thing.

Its been 3 years since we moved in to Scripps landing apts and are very happy with our stint so far.
What we love about this community:
* Professional and courteous staff /​management.
* Timely help from the maintenance staff.
* Prompt remodeling and repairs.
* No issues with rent/​lease. In fact over the years we have seen additions to this community like better water system, good paved roads and parking spots, improved pools amenities etc.
* The management organizes get-​to gathers regularly. Its an opportunity to meet other residents.
* Any time there has been large scale repairs in the community, the management has handled it very efficiently and systematically.
No apt community can be perfect, there will always be minor complaints. But what really matters is how the management treats its residents. Scripps landing has been among the best communities I have lived in.

So I’ve been living at Scripps Landing over 6 months now and I’ve been pleased with the service and the community. I’m pretty shocked to see such low ratings and I feel the place isn’t getting a fair shake based on these comments.
The maintenance staff has been helpful when needed and I did need them to fix a few things in my apartment nothing major though. They are pretty active with general maintenance to the complex too. Every few weeks for the past few months its new this and new that! The place never looks trashy aside from the slight mess maintenance in progress can make which is nothing to be upset about since its an improvement.
The hot water is kinda slow but the issue is being addressed as we speak. So thankfully I wont be wasting water for the shower to warm up.
The office staff is extremely courteous and they do go out of there way to make sure things are good. A co-​worker of mine also lives in the complex and is pretty happy with it.
At the least stop by the place to take a look for yourself and meet the nice staff the place sells itself.

I would not even rate this place. First off the apartments share hot water heaters, therefore it takes about 5 minutes for your shower water to get hot and you have to pay your own water so your paying for many gallons of water that are wasted because your waiting for it to get hot. Right when we moved in our problems started, our toilets would over flow and sometimes so bad it would soak the carpet because we would be at work and come home to a flood, we called and complained and they sent someone about 3 days after the call to fix it and it never helped. Our dishwasher disposal/​food disposal burst and made a water pipe burst. Neighbors complain about anything and everything and if your military and get a complaint the manager will write you a letter and threaten to call your command. A month after we moved in our motorcycle got stolen, two weeks later our brand new car got vandalized and parts were stolen. About seven months after living there someone tried to steal another motorcycle and management did not care at all and told us that nothing like this had ever happen, which was a lie because we talked to neighbors and they knew of 5 or 6 cars that had been either broken into or stolen and management knew about it. If you report something is broken or not working right the maintainence people won’t show up right away it will take them a few days and then they never show up at the time they call and say they will be there. They completely lost an order to fix/​replace our toilet. They had ordered the toilet and everything and did not bother to try and see who needed it it took me calling in to find out what was going on and the man admitted the paperwork was lost. When you sign the lease aggreement they make sure you know you have to get the carpets professionally cleaned but they don’t tell you that you also have to pay to get the apartment professionally cleaned, even if you clean everything top to bottom yourself the apartment people will still charge you. This place was a disaster and I would never live here again.

This place is a disaster. I would not stop the car — kind of like Texas chainsaw massacre. Do not get out of the car, keep driving. These people are ruthless and wicked. All they want is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. You have to pay ALL utilities. If something is wrong, don’t bother calling maintenance because they won’t fix it or do a thing. My unit was a disgusting mess when I moved in. Did they care??? NO! My apartment had a horrible odor of rotting eggs and dirt. The units are very small, there is no storage space and the layout is very hard to work with your furniture. I would not recommend this place to anyone, including Lucifer himself — he would literally kill me. Yes, it is that bad!
