Our motto is «No Hack Jobs» because we believe that trees should be delicately manicured to aid in the utmost vibrancy of their lives. When we aren’t consulting and diagnosing we are removing trees and stumps, shaping, lacing, trimming, planting, cleaning and much more. History

Established in 1991.

Jose Bedoya started this company at a young age in 1991. He started out as tree pruning in his father’s company and quickly learned the proper care of trees after studying 10 plus years. His education consists of many hours in depth learning arborculture and tree biology. He has studied and now teaches at Cuyamaca College. There he received his Certified Arborist Certificate as well as tree climbers cert. Leaf It To Us has grown every year since it’s inception and continues to do so. The company with it’s integrity and neighborhood approach delivers the best quality tree service.

Jose came out to bid the job. I had several bids from other tree trimming company’s but after speaking to him I decided to schedule the job with leaf it to us. It was scheduled for the next week. Jose arrived befor the crew and went over the job again, and answered all of my questions. His crew arrived and Jose went over my concerns. He got on his way and they began working. These guys were professional, and worked well together. They trimmed and shaped my tree so beautifully. I would definetly call them back. Also would definetly recommend them to family, friends and anyone looking for a great tree service. When finished they left my front yard clean .Over the years I have had another company trim this same tree and this time I decided to get other bids and try someone else, and boy am I glad I did. They spent more time and did a way better job.

Jose and the Leaf it to Us Tree Service were amazing! Not only did they have the best price (we obtained 5 quotes total), but were very professional and knew their trade. They were even willing to add the removal of several trees and privacy bushes last minute. Cleaned up so well that we didn’t even know they were there. Only took them two days to remove 5 large trees, several smaller ones, and a whole lot of privacy fencing. Would hire them again in a second!

Great job! Knowledgable! Fast! Friendly! Helpful! Honest! Jose came out and bid on our job of 4 trees. He let us know that 3 of our trees were too young to trim and gave us helpful DIY tips to encourage growth. The one tree he pruned we were very happy with.

Jose came out, gave me a bid! Booked a day, professional friendly crew showed up on time. Got in and out, beautifully shaped my tree and cleaned up my palms! Left my place clean! Very easy to work with! Definitely my new go-​to tree guys! I’ve had lots of «tree guys» over the years and they did the best job shaping my tree by far!
By the way Jose was very reasonable in his pricing compared to my other bids! Also, he didn’t try to have me do more than I needed, actually discouraged me from doing too much! My kind of guy!

I am known as the Topiary living garden artist, a local tourist attraction, seen on HARPERS TOPIARY HILL San Diego. There are a couple of pine trees among the very fragile plant figurines. Once again Jose’s team laced one of the large pine trees without damaging the living Topiary statuettes. I would not trust anyone else to do this extremely delicate work!

Update: Turns out is was my error in that I gave them a telephone number that is rarely monitored. I’m changing the rating to a 3 for the time being with dependancy on further dealngs.
Well, they did not even have the courtesy to return my call for potential new business.
I called 2x within 3 days, left message on their vm about some tree work… no call backs. Hate to say it… typical vendor response:-(
Should be a «no star» score.

What an amazing family team! First impression was a plus… Each young man smiled and extended their hand for a friendly shake. So polite!!! They were hard working and considerate from start to finish. Jose said it might take two days, but it was done in one… Even with additional unplanned work (They took down my Pencil Tree… One of those sticky toxic beasts). Had four bids. All were good and this was not the least expensive, but there was just something that said for me to go with them. SO GLAD I DID!!!

This company came highly recommended from a friend and has terrific reviews on Unilocal,but I cannot get a hold of someone to even setup a estimate. The first time I left a message, I got a call back in a couple days but I could not answer. Since then (about 2 weeks now) I have left multiple messages and used their web form and still no returned call.
I hate going with companies with no referral, but eventually its just not worth the effort…

Part of this family has been taking care or our yard for 15+ years … little did we know that they also provide a great tree service. Sergio used to work in our yard all the time, but he now works with this part of his family’s company. When we needed tree cutting and canyon clearing in Kensington, Sergio and his crew including Rafa and Horatio worked very hard but efficiently to take care of a shared canyon we have with our neighbors. They went above and beyond and at a very reasonable price as well. Highly recommend this family business!

Great price, excellent service, right on time. You usually have to sacrifice one of those but Leaf It To Us quoted me the best price and showed up on time as agreed with a big crew that removed my huge dead pine tree faster than I expected.
I had asked them to take special care with my neighbor’s adjacent iceplant and they made sure it wasn’t even touched. The cleanup work was excellent too. I highly recommend them.

I had branches from my pepper tree overhanging a road that the city insisted I trim. Doing the work would require dropping some very large branches into the road, stopping cars, etc.
Contacted Leaf it to Us for an estimate. They came out promptly and provide a very competitive quote to my partner while I was out of town. We scheduled the work and Jose followed-​up with me by email to confirm. Then, a few days ahead of time, he contacted me again to confirm the exact time they would arrive.
On the appointed day, they showed up 20 minutes ahead of schedule. We reviewed what needed to get done. The crew used ropes and pulleys to climb the tree (about 100 feet high) and lower the branches as they were cut off. They stopped the cars only long enough to clear the road and then let them pass again. The crew worked well together and in a very efficient manner Afterward, they cleaned everything up, hauling all the branches away. Except for the missing branches, when they were done it looked like they hadn’t been there.
Needless to say, we are very satisfied with this company and the service they’ve provided us.

We had two tipu trees in our backyard that we were trying to do ourselves. Finally figured out that wasn’t going to work. Had them come out. They did a fantastic job. The trees look amazing and you couldn’t even tell they had been there, place was so clean. Would not hesitate to use them again.

I came home to make sure they cut enough of the trees back… they cut more than i expected but it looks nice… always a bit of a shock after 20 years of growth but I think the trees will look nice this time next year.
40 foot Magnolia cut to about 30 feet and 40 foot ficus cut to 20.

So impressed! I received estimates from several companies to have an unhealthy, quite massive Fish Tail Palm removed from our property. Leaf it to Us was by far the most affordable. Some of the other companies charged double or even more than double. We paid $ 250 to have the tree cut down. We didn’t want the stump removed (under the surface) because of our water line. The crew managed to make the stump level to the ground and quite smooth. Actually, they did such a good job, it really wasn’t a stump at all, as it wasn’t above-​ground! Jose, the owner, was a good communicator when I emailed various questions about the difference between having the tree removed and the stump ground down vs just having the tree removed, etc.
The crew of 4, I remember one was named «Rafa,» was pleasant, professional, and respectful. They also cleaned up so well that there wasn’t any evidence that a tree had just been cut down. Amazing!

Just moved into a new house that included some queen palms and a rather invasive ficus tree. With the summer months in full swing, it was very apparent that when many of our trees began producing flowers and seeds we would need to look for some trimming to be done.
I took to Unilocal and called both Higuera Tree Care and Leaf it to us. Higuera was able to come out and give us an estimate the next day that set the bar. Leaf it to us was booked 2 weeks out just for an estimate, but with their great reviews we decided to hold out. I’M GLAD WE DID!
Jose was able to give us a more than competitive quote, and Randy was able to schedule us in the books for the following week. She was very easy to communicate with, though you’re always leaving a message on their listed phone number.
They showed up on time and I was able to specify where the trees were and they got to work! They said about 2 – 3 hours for the 9 palm trees and cutting down the ficus tree to a stump, but it was just over an hour when they left.
1 star was removed due to the fact that they missed our 4 backyard palm trees! Left Randy a message, and she was able to have another crew back within 2 hours to finish the job. I guess my only suggestion may be to make a note of the number of trees on the estimate so the crew will be able to make sure all of them are attended to; good thing I was at the house to check their work :-)
