After college, Michael Pines attended Hastings College of Law on a full scholarship and began his legal career working for major law firms that specialized in insurance defense. After growing up in the South (Kentucky, Tennessee and Louisiana), Mike moved to California when he was 15. After working his way through college — graduating in just three years — Michael attended the University of California, San Francisco, Hastings College of Law on a full scholarship.

Upon graduation, Michael began his legal career working for a major law firm that specialized in Insurance Defense, on behalf of several Fortune 500 companies. Michael changed sides to fight for consumers and now uses his wealth of experience against insurance companies.

I came here because I was a victim of a DUI+hit& run car accident. First time in an accident and did not know what to do. I was skeptical about seeking help from an attorney at first as I had not so good impressions about lawyers in general. But luckily I came to the right place.
Mr. Pines is very good at what he does, and I got this impression the first time I met him. He was brief and to-​the-​point. I signed after talking to him because he is very persuasive and confident. After a year, my case wrapped up and I met him the second time. He did a good job and I am very satisfied regarding to the result.

My boyfriend and I were in a traumatizing car accident, but Michael Pines and his staff made the aftermath as easy as it could possibly be. They dealt with insurance efficiently and regularly updated us to let us know what was going on in regards to negotiations, payments, etc. and explained everything clearly so we were never «in the dark» or unaware of anything going on with our case. I highly recommend this law firm if you find yourself in the predicament of a car accident, because unlike some money grubbing lawyers, Michael Pines and his associates have your best interest at heart and will work hard to get you the settlement you deserve. I had a great experience with Mr. Pines and everyone else in their office. It took about a year to settle with the insurance company that I was dealing with after my car accident, but the office kept in frequent contact with me by email and phone. The lawyers in the office never failed to respond promptly to my questions that I had throughout the year. Also, I found it very easy to talk and confide in them, as everyone in the office was friendly and trustworthy, which was great! They took care of all the confusing legal matter and represented me very well. On top of everything, they did not take «no» for an answer from the other insurance company and fought to give me a fair settlement! Great firm with great legal advice. I had called around to set a time to get legal advice on an accident that I was in, but there was only one firm that was quick to help me. I filled out the free accident reveiw form on their website at about 9pm which states that they will make contact within 1 hour during business hours. This is concerning a rear end collision where hubby was hit. About ½ hr later that night a call came in from an attorney from the law office. The next day another call. I checked their website and could not find the attorney’s name who called me. I checked her on linkedin and she was there but it did not mention that she was employed by this firm. A few days later I called for an appt never mentioning the calls we got from the other attorney. We went to the appt and Mr. Pines met with us. He said that they just realized that I had spoken to one of their attorneys. I told him about the late pm call and that we were leary if we were really contacted by someone from Pine’s office. He said that his website does not state they will call during business hrs and he continued to argue this point with us. At the end of our visit he said he would not take the case with no reason given. He did give us the names of doctors who are experienced in dealing with vehicle accident injuries, the best way to proceed and another attorney’s name. In the end the attorney he referred us to is who we went with. The drs Pines recommended were excellent as was his free advice and we’ll see how the attorney we went with works out. Pine’s arguing about the website really threw us off. I got the feeling that Pine’s didn’t take the case as the injuries were not severe enough.

I would highly recommend the Law Offices of Michael Pines. I was in a car accident in 2012 and suffered from neck and back pain. After brief treatment by conventional doctors I realized that I wasn’t feeling any better. Talking to my car insurance wasn’t helpful because they just wanted to hurry up and close the case along with giving me misinformation as to where I can go for treatment. That was when I began to do some research and found Michael Pines. His staff was friendly, respectful and always accurate.
