Rick Mueller is the attorney for the San Diego County DUI Law Center, a Professional Corporation, which focuses on California DUI and DMV law. He has been in practice since 1983 and received his Juris Doctor degree from Chicago Kent College of Law.

Rick taught at the Mexican American Bar Association’s annual DUI seminar at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

When I got a DUI, I did not think there was much I could do to fight it. After calling several attorneys, Rick seemed most knowledgeable. Based on my situation, he was actually very confident he could get my case dismissed.
I admit I was skeptical, but decided it hiring Rick was my best option as I knew the penalties can be excessive without an attorney.
From the beginning of the process, Rick was very honest. He earned my trust when he simply told me to give him a call when I received my court date and gave me some free advice, he did not pressure me at all to hire him.
Leading up to my court date, Rick had specific steps for me to take. After following through with these steps, Rick successfully got the DUI reduced to a very minor «dry and reckless» violation. I did not have my license suspended, expensive fines, community service, or (most importantly) no DUI, wet reckless, or any alcohol related charge on my driving record.
You may ask how this is possible? It seems to me that Rick is well connected in the Court system and has very good strategies for negotiating plea deals based on taking certain steps before the court date.
If you are looking for a DUI attorney, I could not imagine why you would want to work with anyone besides Rick.

This man was worth every penny! He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable and pragmatic about my situation and the results. He laid everything out that needed to be done in a very organized and easy to understand manner, and he always answered my phone calls and e-​mails. He was able to reduce my DUI to a Wet and Reckless, which leaves my record much better off! I would recommend Rick to anybody who is arrested for a DUI. He will fight hard for you!

When i was first charged with DUI, I was very stressed and scared, but Mr. Mueller stayed with me until my case came out better. My brother in law was pulled over while driving while intoxicated and I googled this attorney and I am glad I did. I don’t have much experience with hiring attorneys, or how the legal system in San Diego works but do know that Rick handled the case and even managed to defer the charge.
My brother was able to continue driving and not loose his license. I would recommend this attorney to anyone in San Diego that, well, makes an honest mistake!

So, I got my second DUI in ten years. I knew I was in a world of hurt. Rick comforted me by telling me, «his clients don’t go to jail.» Even though the sentencing judge wanted to sent me to jail, Rick got me public work service.
Rick answers e-​mails outside of regular business hours, which is great for a workaholic like me. I filled out the questionnaire on his website on a Saturday, and I got an e-​mail response form him the same day.
What I appreciate most about Rick is that he doesn’t sugar coat anything. He doesn’t give you false hope. When he told me he was «confident» that I would get public work service instead of jail, I knew that I would get it.
Rick also fought the DMV suspension. I had no idea how to do this myself. Rick’s knowledge of DUI laws allowed him to point out the numerous mistakes made by the CHP in my case. As a result, my license was not suspended by the DMV until I was convicted by the courts.
I definitely feel that I received value for the price I paid to retain Rick. I would definitely recommend Rick to a friend who needed representation for DUI.

Got your first DUI? The BAC is not too ridiculous? Save your money and get a cheaper lawyer. Or don’t get one at all. Just got to the court and plead guilty, because the outcome will be the same regardless if you get one or not. You will still get your license suspended, you still still have to go to a bunch of classes, you will still have to pay a ridiculous fine and you will still end up being treated like a criminal.
The only thing your lawyer will do for you is to write you a letter with a bunch of fluff words and lawyer speak, explaining how great of a deal he got you. The problem is that the «deal» you are getting is exactly the same as you would have gotten if you just went to the court and pleaded guilty. I shit you not.
Have to admit, Rick is always on top of his emails, and responds really fast, it’s just i think that i wasted my money on absolutely nothing. Not a single thing that would make me say «well, at least he got me blah blah». Nope. I do not see a single benefit of the thousands of dollars that i had to borrow to pay Rick.
Save your money for the fines, classes and transportation. You will need it.
