Thank you so much Teresa of Kwan Yin Holistic Center. I went to see you today for a cupping appointment. My chest was so congested and head was too! UG! After your treatment was half way done, I already felt a difference. A few hours later, I am also feeling better and it’s because of your awesome treatment! I swear by cupping and recommend you 100%!

For the past 4 months I have had increasing pain in my lower back. I mean some SERIOUS pain! Working from home without a proper office doesn’t help either. Well, that was until I had an appointment last week with Teresa Hall at Kwan Yin Holistic Center. For no good reason, I had been skeptical of getting acupuncture done even though I had heard it works wonders.
While I was getting poked with needles (I swear. it doesn’t hurt!) she mentioned that she works with a lot of women’s fertility issues with many of them getting pregnant. My response: «Great! But I DON’T want THOSE needles!!» LOL
It’s been a week since my session and OH MY GOD!!! Pain Free!

I’ve known Theresa for several years as a fellow acupuncturist and I occasionally call her to discuss professional matters. She has in depth knowledge and experience, I trust her to see my patients when I’ve been out of town or too busy to see them in my clinic. She sees them promptly and spends a lot of time on them in treatment. Her office is beautiful with wooden floors, natural light and air flow through the spacious treatment rooms. Her office has wonderful «feng shui». She’s an excellent practitioner who’s been in practice for over 17 years.

It was a tacky looking office there was a vacuum cleaner right by the table I got a massage there he made me wait about 45 minutes and then she cut this service off shore very unprofessional. The waiting area looks like a storage facility she should close this place up its not professional and it gives professionals in the field a bad look or bad reputation she doesn’t know what she’s doing this is not her field.

I have been treated by Ms Hall for 3 weeks now. When I came to her I had a badly injured left ankle, was run over years ago and it was 30% bigger than my right, with pitting edema. I asked her to work on my ankle for swelling and pain. She gave me an excellent accupunture treatment and by that evening the swelling was ALL GONE AND IT WAS THINNER AND NO LONGER STIFF. I was able to move it in directions it had not gone since 1985. My balance was much better also, and the pain in my left foot and ankle was gone. Theresa you are a gifted healer and acupuncturist.

My first experience with Teresa was eons ago… back in 2005. I was over-​stressed from a demanding job, and in need of some relief. I was urged by a friend to check out acupuncture, so I zeroed in on Kwan Yin and went to see Teresa because she’s in my neighborhood and I didn’t know one from the other. I had a couple of acupuncture treatments, and then (at Teresa’s recommendation) an emotional healing treatment. She was so effective, that she eliminated my need for return services for a while! Sorry, Teresa, but thank you!
It’s now 2013. In the eight years between my first appointment and the writing of this review, I’ve visited many other acupuncturists, massage therapists, even another psychic or two. The main reason I drifted away from Teresa for those in-​between years is that I was new to the holistic treatment experience, and wanted to see who/​what else was out there. I had nothing to compare her to.
Also, I had a close relative who was studying acupuncture at the local college, so I gave her my business for awhile. (Quick sidenote: try not to use a personal relative for treatment if you can. It’s just got a weirdness factor, like having your brother in law perform your pap smears)
Anyway, I came here to post a review for Teresa, and read through the other reviews first just for fun and curiosity. I was kind of suprised by the negative reviews at first, but now I understand them better. I’m sure, for those reviewers, it wasn’t what they were expecting.
Here’s the thing. Teresa is not a «day spa massage therapist.» She’s a healer. I’ve learned the difference over the years. If you’re looking for a place that will put cucumbers on your eyeballs, offer you a pedi, treat you like a snobby millionaire and wait on you hand and foot, this isn’t the place for you. For that, you’ll want to go to La Costa, or Massage Envy or one of those types of joints. That’s why all the negative reviewers are from eLiveLife. That website is a great resource for SPA services. Teresa is a holistic HEALER, and Kwan Yin NOT a day spa.
If you’re seeking TREATMENT from a holistic practitioner, Teresa is phenomenal and life-​changing. She’s not going to butter you up with a bunch of fluffy bullsh*t. She’s going to treat you like her equal, because she approaches her patients as fellow humans. She’s not the nurse, she’s the surgeon. Her job is to seek and identify your ailment and treat that. And, damn, she’s incredible at this.
I guess you can become an effective healer with enough schooling and experience, as it is certainly a practice that has been honed over thousands of years. However, in order to be truly brilliant at it, you need to have that natural talent of intuition, a gift for connecting with other people on a plane just above the one we experience with our five senses. Teresa has this gift. I’m glad she chose to pursue a life of serving others with this gift, because she has changed my life. I’m all done shopping around for other healers now. I know what’s out there. Kwan Yin is where genuine healing happens.

I have been seeing Teresa for over 10 years. I love her she is so sweet, honest, loving individual and great at what see does.
I have read some of the mean spirited Unilocal reviews and can’t believe them. Well, until I see most of them are coming from a cherry picking discount deal shoppers. Enough said there.
If you are looking for a great practitioner to help you with your health issues Teresa is your woman she is multi talented. She heals ;-)

Did I just have acupuncture or did I have a dream about how to waste my time?
I’ve been treated by a few acupuncturists in the past. This one is by far the worst. I gave it a try because I wanted to try a new acupuncturist and found what I thought was a good deal on living social.
First, it was difficult to get a hold of someone to make an appt. I think it’s a one-​person business. Teresa Hall is rude and doesn’t seem like she cares at all! I don’t understand it. Based on previous reviews, I thought I’d meet as nice woman. But even from trying to make an appt, I could tell by her tone that she wasn’t someone very friendly. If I hadn’t already purchased a living social deal, I would’ve gone with my instincts and not go to her.
When I showed up, she just assumed I was me because of the appt time. Didn’t even say hi. Just pointed me to sit. Oooook. When she took my medical history, she acted like she knew it all, but she couldn’t even spell half of my meds, let alone knowing what most of them were for. Look, woman, just let me write out my own meds instead of your scribble of nonsense!
When she took me to the room with the patient table, she said, «head here. feet here». Then left. Oooook. I lied down. She came back a minute later and put the needles in. Didn’t tell me where she was going to stick me. Fine. I’m not a newbie. I wasn’t freaking out or anything. But that just was not very respectful at all!
After putting in the needles, she left the room again. This was expected. What wasn’t expected was the condenser sounding noise that was constant and overcasting her supposedly soothing music. And then even louder was her making phone calls and paying for stuff over the phone. I was very tempted to memorize her credit card number just to mess with her later.
When she came back to remove the needles, again, didn’t really say anything. Really? That was all? No heat lamp. No other positions. It might as well have been a drive through.
I tried to keep an open mind and told myself that maybe I’d feel better later that day, or the next day, or later that week. Ummm. Never happened. It was a complete waste of time and money.

This is a review for a few visits (3 – 4) I had last year for acupuncture. I happened to have breakfast nearby and saw the acupuncture sign, I went in and spoke with Teresa, and I made an appointment.
When I had my appointment Teresa was very nice and took down all my info, it was my first time with acupuncture, and I felt very comfortable. The whole process was painless and very relaxing. In fact after each of my visits I felt very relaxed, and stress free.
The environment was nice, soothing music, and the majority of times I went in I was the only person.

I used an elivelife certificate as a good way to try various massage therapists. When I arrived she didn’t even have the sheets on the massage table ready. I had to watch as she put them on. The headrest was cover was worn and cracked so was uncomfortable without carefully adjusting to avoid laying my face on the broken part. Anyway, there is no excuse for a broken/​worn headrest.
The massage started 5 minutes into the hour and ended 10 minutes early, ie it was 45 minutes long. Not an hour.
The massage itself was mediocre. At least it covered the lesser parts well, ie the neck, face, feet, hands, and arms, but unfortunately all that did was take time from the main and larger body parts that genuinely needed longer and deeper massaging. What that short-​changed 15 minutes could’ve provided.
It seems odd how 3 elivelife reviewers have given a bad review. She certainly won’t get my repeat business.

My wife and I started with a Groupon deal three months ago and have been going back ever since. We found Teresa to be very knowledgeable in holistic health care. She spends a considerable amount of time discussing your health concerns and treatment options. We have had both acupuncture and massage treatments. Definitely feel it has reduced back pain, stress levels and increased overall circulation and health level.

I had never tried acupuncture in my life, being the skeptic that I am but I have heard some good things about it. However, I was making a crosscountry trip, from NY to California so I figured I would need it by the time I reached San Diego. I have had lower back trouble for years and even have been on some strong medication for it but this ride was a dream of mine for as long as I could remember. I looked up acupuncturists in that area and Teresa of the Kwan Yin Hollistic Center was the one I picked. She couldn’t have been more pleasant and explained everything, patiently, over the phone and I had a real sense of what an excellent choice I made to go with her.
5 days, 2980 miles later there I was on Grape Street. Teresa was even nicer in person, and after a little paperwork we were off. She was engaging, funny and explained everything as we were going along putting this novice very much at ease. She answered every question that I had, set the mood with a combination of treatments she was conducting on me. There I was, for the first time in my life, with pins sticking out of me. Terea was very attentive and checked on me, periodically, to make sure all was okay. She has such a great spirit about her and you can tell she loves what she does. After two treatments over a couple of days I was more surprised than anyone to feel the lower back pain I’ve had for years go from a 6 to a 2 – 3 in such a short time without meds. The knot in my neck must have shrunk from a grape to a pea. I will certainly continue acupuncture but my hat is off to Teresa, you are an excellent practitioner.

The therapist, Teresa, was skilled in many areas of the energy arts. The combination she used on me was fantastic, and the gong music in the background was a great touch. I have been to many massage therapists and energy healers over the past twenty years and Teresa was one of the Best. I will definitely be back. You are in for a treat!

I bought an Elivelife gift certificate for my mom (
) for Mother’s Day. It was a for 1 hour therapeutic massage with Teresa. On the gift certificate itself it states that Teresa can take away your stress with just 15 minutes of the massage. My mom has stiff shoulders from gardening and stress, so I thought it’d be really great! Also, at the time that I purchased the massage there were only 3 Unilocal reviews, but all 3 were 5 stars. I thought I was getting a great present for my mom! Maybe I took my mom on an off day, but I was disappointed.
Our appointment was for Friday at 2:30pm. We arrived approximately 10 minutes early simply because we found parking right away. We went inside and she acted socially akwkard/​unwelcoming upon seeing us. She kept repeating «I have a client still here» and then left her sentence trailing, as if we were supposed to suddenly understand that sentence to mean «…so please go outside until it’s 2:30pm» or «…so please have a seat on the sofa until it’s 2:30pm.» I had no idea what she was trying to get at. She has a sofa when you first walk in with a coffee table, so I had assumed we could sit there and wait the 10 minutes. But she acted so unwelcoming and so awkward, that it made me uncomfortable, so my mom and I went back outside and waited until 2:30pm.
My mom is not a massage guru, but she knows a bad massage from a good one. She said it was average at most. She said that Teresa didn’t get any tension out of her shoulders until the last 10 minutes of the massage. My mom had to actually tell her «are you going to work on my shoulders?» because Teresa just didn’t do anything to them despite her knowing that she had stiff shoulders. Teresa’s excuse was «oh wow! your tension is really deep in your shoulders!» and then she started to work on her shoulders. My mom said that the gift certificated assurance of «I can take away your stress in just 15 minutes!» was not true.
Maybe she’s excellent at acupuncture or some of the other services that she offers (i.e. the reviews that gave her 5 stars), but I would not recommend coming here for a massage. Not worth it even for $ 45 (which is the June special).

I hate to put a negative review out there but I was really disappointed with my experience at Kwan Yin. I had high expectations with the other great reviews. Maybe I just came on an off day or something but nonetheless, I won’t be back.
I purchased an
gift certificate for a 1 hour massage with Teresa. She was able to schedule me for a Saturday morning. I showed up right at 11am, my appointment time and had to wait a few minutes before we got going (nothing unreasonable). She got me all ready in the room and came in to start the massage. What was really strange to me (and is a big reason for my poor rating) is that about 10 min into my massage, she left to go help another client. At first I thought someone just needed to check out quickly and I was thinking maybe she would be gone for a quick minute. But she was gone for probably 8 – 10 minutes and the whole time, as I lay there on the massage table in my birthday suit, I could hear her and the other client talking. I thought that when Teresa came back, she would make up time on the back end but nope, I was all dressed and done by noon on the nose. So I definitely didn’t get my 1 hour of massage time.
As for the massage itself, it was pretty mediocre, to be honest.
If you’re just looking for a massage therapist, I would say go elsewhere. If you’re looking for a healthcare practitioner (which is how some of the others rated her), I would consider the other reviewers experiences — maybe that’s where she shines.

This is a very, very sincere endorsement from someone who has spent about over 30 years of her life beating up her body as a runner. Like most people *cough!* over a certain age who are athletic, who have run a sh*t ton of miles over the years, I have developed sciatica. My husband has his own back distresses which were not helped by years of volunteering at races and doing most of the heavy lifting. Teresa is really one of the best in the business. She really, really is very capable as a massage therapist and a healer in the area of Eastern medicine. After a recent event last year, my husband injured his back pretty seriously. Douglas Saboe my stylist recommended Teresa to us. Once she treated him, I saw my husband go from barerly being able to walk up a hill to being back to running in a matter of two weeks after Teresa worked with him using acupuncture. My husband’s insurance covered most of it, so check your plan. I am amazed at his continued progress.
I went to see Teresa today for the fourth time. I could hardly walk without intense pain in my sciatic area, I could not get up from a chair without pain radiating through my left leg… to now, two hours later being able to walk easily, get in and out of m y car and I now plan to do spin class tomorrow. Teresa used massage therapy but she employs pressure points and deep tissue.
I also look like I banged an octopus because she used «cupping» on my terribly painful lower back area and employed heat. Cupping is warm suction cups being applied to the muscles for a brief amount of time and it is a tremendously successful technique for knotted up muscles believe me!
Oh goodie! Tomorrow at the gym is gonna be fun! I have huge suction cup marks on my lower back and Ima gonna tell the girls that I made out with that octopussy who predicted that Spain would win the World Cup!!! I can’t help myself…
Anyhow, all redonkulousness on my part aside, give lovely Teresa a holla when you wreck your back on your fixie or pulling it out by puttin’ on your sister’s jeans… or from running like my husband and I.
