Good service for a reasonable price

delivered linens and cutlery for party of 80 people on time and prices were affordable. communicated well with detailed emails and was flexible with last minute changes and add on s. I liked Emily and would use her again.

I always rent from K & J when I have a party in San Diego. My mother in law suggested K&J to me when i had my baby shower and i’ve been using them ever since. Prices are very reasonable (i mostly get table cloths and other small items) and the selection is good.
Emily is pleasure to work with.

At first, everything went great. I spoke with Emily who was fast and on top of things. She asked me to pay her $ 160.00 over the phone which was not a problem, but once payment was made, it was like she didn’t care for my business anymore. I requested the chairs be dropped off at 3pm since my ceremony was at 4pm. The day of my wedding, she text messages me telling me that I need to be waiting for her drivers and not them waiting for me. Not exact words, but I posted a photo of the text. 1^st of all, how rude is it for her to text her clients something like that? She then called me after sending me the text, telling me off about how I called her, asking her to deliver the chairs earlier than 3pm which was a lie. I tried to explain to her that I wasn’t aware that her drivers would be delivering the chairs early, but she just kept cutting me off. I then told her that I didn’t appreciate her sending me rude text messages which seemed to piss her off because she threatened to have her drivers pack up the chairs and arch that I paid for in advance, over the phone as requested. I continued to TRY AND EXPLAIN TO HER, but she just kept cutting me off and calling me a «mean woman» and kept threatening to take the chairs and ruin my wedding day. How professional, Emily! Eventually my brother in law was able to calm her down and we were able to keep the chairs.
When her sons came to get the chairs in less than an hour, our guests were still sitting in the chairs, but they didn’t care. One of her sons even sat in one of the chairs with the guests DURING THE END OF THE CEREMONY! Then they started to pack them up WITHOUT even saying anything to my husband and I. Guests were shocked and kept telling me that they were taking the chairs away, but what could I do? I just wanted them out of there. I guess Emily told them of our little falling out and she wasn’t satisfied, so she had them take the chairs out of spite! Even though they were still being used.
Very unprofessional! I do not recommend them to anyone. They seriously need customer service training!

After 8 attempts to email and call them to place an order for a wedding in June, I finally gave up. I did get through once and she told me to check my spam folder. NOTHING. However, after reading the Unilocal reviews of rusty junk in the yard, lack of communication & shady dealings, I’m glad I didn’t use them! Take your business elsewhere & THEY will appreciate your business!!!

Horrible service. The staff here is EXTREMELY difficult to get a hold of. Dropped off chairs for the wedding late, came back to pick them up late. Did not answer phones on the day of the wedding when they were called to find out where the delivery was. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.

K & J Party Rentals was an easy, efficient and cost effective way to host the holidays at my house! They delivered tables, chairs, table clothes & a heater for Christmas. I was impressed with the delivery process and the quality of the items. I will be calling them again for the next party we host!

Great prices, but I started to realize why when I called for a reservation. I thought maybe it was a scam to get my cc# as they didn’t seem to know what they were doing, but hey…
I was confused when the address led me to a house. No one was home. I really thought I was punked, except for the piles of rusty equipment i could see in the yard. So I called the cell, same lady answered, asking who I was, what I rented, if I’d paid, that she had no record of me. She said they would come home. They got home about 10 min later, so grateful for that. Both Emily & her husband were very nice.
The equipment needed scrubbing before I’d put it in my house. When the party was going one of the chairs collapsed w a guest on it. Turns out it was missing one of the screws holding the chair base. Thank gosh no one was injured.
When I returned the equipment I told them I put tape across a chair as it was broken and someone fell. They said «oh, don’t worry about it.» ???
Really, just spend a few bucks more to get what you need, when you need it, in good repair.
Update: unasked, they did refund my rental fee

Horrible! I hope this company is no longer in business. There is no location on Midway. This woman keeps her rusty supplies in a garage deep in a Chula Vista. We used her unprofessional party supply service once and were accused of missing a chair after her sons verified the order and confirmed all supplies were returned. Made the mistake of trying to place a second order with her … a seemingly simple process, right? WRONG! She was never available, could not return calls, and then when I did reach her there was a comprehension problem on her part. I just gave up and called Raphael’s.

I contracted these people to setup and deliver canopies, chairs, and tables for my sons first birthday party. My written quote states that the delivery and setup was to be between 10:30−11am (the party was from 12−4pm) They didn’t show up until 12:30, I received no phone call and no apology, in fact I had to call them 20 – 30 times before anyone even picked up the phone, and when they did they were rude and completely indifferent.
I was stupid in letting them charge me in advance, I asked them for a partial refund and they have refused, I am currently contesting the charges with my credit card company and contacting my attorney.
Simply stated DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! It would be impossible to find anyone who cares less about your event and who cares less about ruining it then these people.

K&J rentals were awesome! They have the best prices around and their service was excellent. I was a little leery of using them when I saw some of the bad Unilocal reviews but I decided to give them a shot since their prices were so great. Everything was delivered and picked up just when they said they would be. I could not of been more pleased.

Excellent service! I researched all the popular party rentals in San Diego and K & J Party Rentals was the cheapest. They also have great quality products. Emily answered all emails & phone calls quickly and efficiently! She was great and helped make sure everything went according planned. I will recommend to all my friends and family.

:PLEASE PLEASE: take your business elsewhere! You’ve worked hard for your money, and you definitely don’t want to give it to someone who doesn’t appreciate your business.
For several years, we used to rent our party necessities from K&J, including chairs, belly tables, rectangle tables, cotton candy machine, etc… In the past, I never had any major problems with them.
But, when it comes to LINENS, they’re a hot mess! Emily, the owner, recently opened her showroom in Point Loma. She’s in between locations and she never seems to know where all her linens are (didn’t learn this till it was too late).
We met with her at the Midway/​Pt Loma location to rent some linens for my son’s 1^st birthday party. When we met, I should’ve realized that she doesn’t care about her customers when she made a comment about only wanting to make a certain amount of sales each year. Anything after that is just extra. In other words, after she reaches her sales goal, she doesn’t care to have any other business (even if they are repeat customers).
Anyway, I told her I’d contact her later to put our order in. I’ll admit I got pretty busy, so I didn’t e-​mail her until a week prior to my event. But, she responded and provided me with an invoice with all the linens I requested. So, I thought we were good to go.
To make a long story short, Emily told me via e-​mail that I needed to pay in full before I picked up the linens. I called her to do that, but she said, «You can pay now or pick them up tomorrow ANYTIME and pay for them at pick up.» I told her I’d pay for them tomorrow (day before the event).
Her pick up location is extremely down south near the border to Mexico, so I planned my errands accordingly so that I could pick up the linens from her warehouse. I called her in the morning to let her know I’d be there in an hour. But, she said the linens weren’t ready! On top of that, she said she didn’t have one of the linens I requested!!! (Why would she send me an invoice as if she had all the linens, then tell me she doesn’t have all the linens the day before my event!!!). She should’ve checked her inventory before she sent me an invoice. :/​
Anyway, to make matters worse she never once apologized, or offered any discount for the major inconvenience. THIS GETS BETTER… She started to ignore my calls and my text asking her to please call me! She wouldn’t pick up my calls, so I called her from my house number and then … VIOLA, she only called my house number back because she didn’t know who it was!!! But, it was ME!
By the way, she also misquoted me in her invoice. Again, she never apologized or offered any courtesy discount! (See my pic)
So… HOW DID THIS ALL END??? She told me on the phone, «It’s up to you.» And HUNG UP on me!!!
I promise you, she does NOT care about her customers. Why else would she hang up on me and put me in a position with absolutely no linens at all??? We needed the linens the day before the party to set up the night before!
CALL Virginia with Deluxe Party Rentals instead! Her prices are comparable to K&J. I was about to rent from her, and she seemed very accommodating. She was even willing to meet me at 9pm to deliver the linens. But, we had to rent from someone else since 9pm was too late for us to set up all the tables and centerpieces.
Emily is a bad business woman to say the least. But, this experience made me much more appreciative of those who actually care about their customers!

ZERO STARS. There should be a zero star rating because this company deserves it. I wish I would have read reviews before I called this place, shame on me. First I left a few messages with no response. Finally 2 weeks later when I called back and told them I had left messages with no response a women called and I set up an appointment to go to showroom. The women seemed so annoyed to answer calls and treated me like a nuisance. (I should have never scheduled appointment but did because my sister in law said they where cheapest and had everything we needed for party) Emily booked a noon appointment. I arrived promptly and waited and left a message on recorder telling them gates where closed I couldn’t enter building. Emily called me back to inform me that she would be 10 to 15 min late, how unprofessional. The day I booked appointment she insisted I be there right at noon because she had a 12:30pm appointment. From reading other reviews she has a problem being punctual. I left and never waited for her because I do not want to do business with a company that is so unreliable. Sometimes saving money isn’t worth it and this company is a perfect example. Don’t know if Emily is an employee or owner but if she is an employee I hope the owner reads all the negative reviews that mostly pertain to her and hires someone new before his business collapses due to poor treatment of customers. If you want some aggravation in your life call them otherwise AVOID!!!

If it were legal to punch these fools repeatedly in the kidneys for three weeks straight, I would still not be satisfied. We booked chairs 7 months ahead for our wedding. When our venue required them to attend the walkthrough, or they would not be allowed on the property the day of the wedding, they REFUSED.
When asked why her company wouldn’t attend the walkthrough, the answer was, «We don’t do that.»
This company has been characterized as ‘unprofessional’ by our wedding planner, and ‘I’ve never had such an unpleasant experience from a vendor’ by the management at our wedding venue.
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I left 3 voicemails and no response. The owner either can not handle new customers or just does not care. On the 4^th try, she finally calls back and apologizes. When we asked her why she didn’t return our calls, she answers «Well I have a personal life too!». Like this is a valid answer to neglect your business?
I would NOT recommend these guys regardless if they were GIVING AWAY their rentals for free. They do not respond and do not care for your business. Look elsewhere!

K & J Party Rentals is the least expensive party rental company in San Diego county. That said, if I had all the money in the world, I would purchase my rentals elsewhere. I think this business is expanding more rapidly than the owner is able to handle, and my wedding was almost a victim. It was incredibly difficult to get in touch with the owner at times, and with all the other wedding stress, better communication could have turned this into a 5-​star review!
My husband and I were in San Diego and decided to call K&J. The phone just rang and rang, so we called and called until a family member answered and gave us the owner’s cell phone number. Still no answer. Eventually, she got back to us and scheduled us to meet her at her new showroom. We met her there (she was late), but the showroom was set up very nicely! For the price, I thought, this will have to do.
The owner was so gracious and kind and welcoming when we met her, and she told us we were the first visitors to the new showroom! She told us all about herself and her family and how she got involved in party rentals. She’s only recently started doing this full-​time. She has an incredible family and military background, so she’s obviously hard-​working. My only complaint is that there were a lot of sidebars and stories and we left without a quote. It was a little challenging to keep her focused on what we wanted — a price for the rentals. She did, however, counsel us as to what she would estimate we might need for our day.
During the course of wedding planning, there were several phone calls that went unanswered and unreturned. We had to stay on top of the owner to e-​mail us quotes and revised quotes. Leading up to the days before the wedding, our coordinators were not able to reach the owner at all. She did not show up to our vendor walk-​through. I was very very nervous that we would not have any rentals on the day of our wedding.
That said, after I emailed her and let her know I was really worried about her lack of communication, she finally got back to us and our coordinators. In the end, our rentals were beautiful and were there on time. If this company had a dedicated receptionist/​appointment-​maker, it would be unstoppable. I hope this company succeeds because the prices really leave all other rental companies in the dust. Did I mention the owner actually sows the linens herself? Impressive.

I was looking for chairs to rent for my wedding last year in April. I found out K & J rentals was a short distance from my home, so I decided to contact them. I sent them an email and was given a response within 24 hours.
Since I only ordered 50 chairs, I had to pick the chairs up myself since the minimum was a 100 chairs for delivery. It wasn’t a problem for me since the price was just right and we lived so close. When it was time to pick-​up the chairs, I was provided phone numbers to give them a call since it was my brother in law to pick up the chairs. I tried three different numbers, but no one answered. I did leave a message, but it made me panic a little thinking no one be available to answer him once he got there.
My brother in law told me it was a corner home and he had to doorbell to get their attention. Overall, the pick-​up was fine and successfully used the chairs the next day. We dropped them off the following day.
* I recently used K&J for tables last weekend. I had asked for four 6′ rectangular tables. I had emailed them last minute, but they responded very quickly. They were able to accommodate me, but had to pick them up myself once again.
I asked for an invoice, but they did not email back. This time it was my husband and I that picked up the tables ourselves. I tried calling to say that we were on the way, but no answer. Just like last time, we went to the house anyway. The owner was already outside, but we had to wait for a bit for the invoice to be printed. Since I requested the chairs on Saturday, but the party was not until Sunday, I asked to drop off the chairs on Monday. I was grateful that they were able to allow me to do so without charge.
All the equipment I received through borrowing from K&J were presentable and sturdy. I only gave FOUR stars as I think the communication through phone would be much better. There are three phone numbers, with no one to answer. It’s best to e-​mail them a few days or even a week earlier to see if what you need is available. But even then for future events, I will still rent from them.

After reviewing and contacting many rental companies, I was disappointed with the lack of customer service. However, when I stumbled across K & J Party Rentals, I immediately emailed requesting for a quote. Emily returned my email the next morning (the email stated at 3:24 am!) with a personalized quote. I needed to rent 3 tables, chairs, canopies and linens for my daughter’s birthday party.
I worked with Emily and she sent me an email 2 weeks before the wedding to confirm delivery & pickup time and also the color of my linens. Since they didn’t have samples online, I asked for a photo to pick out of their different shades of blue. She promptly took a photo and sent it to me and I emailed to confirm the color.
The day of the party, the delivery guys actually came earlier than scheduled. They were scheduled to arrive 10:00 — 10:15 a.m. but got to the park around 9:45 a.m. Although setup was not included for the canopies, the guys helped my dad and I get the canopies up.
The rentals were okay, a little outdated but it’s fine with me, just as long as they weren’t broken. Plus I had table covers to cover the tables so it didn’t really matter. The linens were thin but it served it’s purpose.
Emily has been great to work with from the beginning and I am very pleased with the service! Can’t beat the price and will definitely use them again for future party rental needs. :)
