Just Smog

Poor customer service. Not very helpful explaining results.

I called ahead to make a lunchtime appointment at 12:15, they were ready, and the check took less then 20 minutes! I will be back in 2 years.

Highly recommended. I have gone here for over 20 years. 6 stars if it were possible. Excellent service at a reasonable price. Family operated, very polite, clear instructions, efficient, reassuring, gets it done! Today was pretty typical, getting there early, before 9am, one customer being worked and she was seated in the waiting area. The owner and tester saw my car pull up, meet me as I walked in. He does everything until 9am when his wife or daughter comes in to run the office and do the paper work. The whole family, all of them are great. Handing him the DMV letter and the car key, he said «20 minutes, pay later». I sat down, he came around front and drove my car into a service bay. Then he finished the car before me, took her payment, and started on my car during which he processed another two customers bringing in their cars. As I knew from past experience, in 20 minutes just as he promised, he brought my car around front, took my visa payment, $ 46, showed me how to renew online with the DMV and told me he had electronically sent the passing smog certificate to DMV. I when to the car and noticed one of the tires looked a little low on pressure. It’s my wife’s car so it would not be unexpected to need a little attention. As I walked around the car looking at each tire the owner came out, pointed at the check-​list he had provided when I paid. It listed the tire pressures. He said «no problem with tires» and smiled. Amazing. I thanked him again, got in a drove home. Highly recommended as one of the best service providers I have ever had the privilege to review.

Great smog place, honest, fast, explains process, very knowledgeable. I had gone to another smog place where the tech didn’t know how to test older cars, should of come here first!

They ripped me off for 41 dollars. They are sneaky and dishonest. If I was a con artist I would con them right back. I haven’t been so disappointed in any service ever. My advice would obviously be to use anyone but them.

I’ve been going here for years since I had my Honda Prelude. The thing is a polluter! What I like about this test only spot is they give you a free retest if you fail.
The spot is a little ghetto but pretty typical for the Vietnamese owned shop. The guy is really helpful. He even suggested what was wrong with my car last time! I almost went to quick smog because I didn’t think I could pass. They do no fee if you don’t pass but that place is wack! Never again will I cheat on this place!

To start off — I did not get my smog completed here. I had an appointment, showed up 10 minutes late and there were 3 or 4 cars lined up, people waiting, and I was told it would be an hour wait to be tested. I’m guessing if I showed up on-​time, or even early, I would’ve still been told there is a wait. Easy to find, limited parking, and quite busy. Seemed he had no desire to reschedule me, thus. I went somewhere else. See below.
Tip: You should go to DVM Smog Check Test Only at 6140 Mission Gorge Road (just a minute away). SUPER friendly, professional, and NO waiting! 10 – 15 minutes and $ 40 out the door. Boom!

Stay away from this place. The are over priced and are a rip off. Of the 6 other customers I encountered here everyone had failed and had to come back. And the had newer cars. No one had passed on their first time. Including mine. That just seems a bit fishy.

Great and simple service! I’d appreciate it even more if they had told me that the check engine light on was an automatic failure but aside from that, all good…

A no frills smog only shop with competitive pricing. Service has always been quick from 20 minutes to an hour. Has a very small waiting area and parking lot. This is a first come first serve shop so I’m sure it can get a little busy at times. I have had multiple cars smogged here and never any issues. Two mechanic shops that I respect and trust both referred me here. Done deal!
Everyone hates going to a smog shop right?! Thanks again for another great experience.

This was right down the street from the Auto Auction, so I took my new minivan there to get smogged, and it passed with flying colors.
I think this may be my new smog place.

Recommended by our Porsche mechanic. Quality work, good technician who knows what he’s doing — many places can’t or won’t do a Cayman or Boxter — and no frills place. Don’t let the appearance keep you away. They have the respect of local mechanics, which is much more important. They got us in and out in 15 – 20 minutes and charged us just like any car. Highly recommended.

Le sigh. There are a few chores that rival the joy of having to renew your vehicle registration, especially when they don’t mail the renewal to you in advance, and you’re forced to visit the DMV office… without an appointment! When they tell you it’s time to get a smog check, then you gotta go somewhere else and return after the deed is done.
I didn’t make time to shop around or try to find a coupon. This needed to be done so we could promptly return to the DMV and complete this mini-​mission. Is $ 43 too much for a smog test nowadays? Lemme know if I coulda got a better price nearby or if I lucked out on a deal.
Small place, friendly lady in the office, they were busy, but not swamped. I gave her the current registration, the DMV paper, and I filled out one form. Job done in about an hour as promised.
The best part is that the car passed the smog inspection.

Haven’t had a «smog only» for many years due to owning new cars, but when I did, this was the best smog business around. Go here for straight-​forward fast passing!

Ive been using the place since 2005, about 6 cars total, no problems, no upsells, passed every time. I did have a car with almost 300,000 miles, the nice guy told me to heat it up extra and to put some octane boost in first, the car passed the first time! thank you

My mechanic had me bring my car to just smog as it was conveniently located just down the street. The car failed inspection the first time, and as a result I had my catalytic converter replaced. My mechanic brought the car back to just smog after the new cat was in. I came by about half an hour later and waited another hour at which point the owners locked my keys in their office and left without smogging my car. Walked 45 minutes home and back in the morning and had to call a replacement for work since I didn’t have a car. Just smog did not run my car whatsoever after the new cat was in, and so the car failed smog a second time. When I came by to pick up my keys the rude owner threw them on the counter and barked at me. I brought the car back for a third inspection 4 days later, and it passed. No repairs were made in that time, I was simply warming the cat up. Still paid another $ 50 for the third inspection. All in all they locked my keys up and charged me $ 50 to rectify their mistake while smogging my car. Even after explaining the entire situation to the woman at the counter all she could respond with was «no refunds, we just smog.» This is the worst business of any kind I have ever been to.

*As an update I failed my smog and was given one free retest. I took my 3kgt to my usual shop in PB so they could diagnose the issue. They stated «there is nothing wrong…» I brought it back to Hai for my free retest. He brought me around and explained nothing was fixed (This I knew) and that it would still fail — I took the car back to my old tried and true shop Allied Gardens Automotive (off of Zion and Mission Gorge with the VW beetle on top) and they fixed it. Hai was cool enough to give me a retest at no charge and sent me on my way.

This is a test-​only station. Very nice staff, good prices, fast smog check.
