Our team also offers professional photography services with emphasis on commercial, real estate, and exterior architecture. Based in San Diego, JD Design has experience with projects nationwide and with our vast knowledge of regional landscape elements, we are able to provide an innovative and resourceful approach to our designs by using materials that compliment the intrinsic characteristics of the surrounding area.

Our goal is to provide practical and affordable solutions for homeowners, developers, and property owners while providing the highest quality of service and professionalism to every project.

Our company’s design philosophy is that every landscape is an extension of the home and each design should reflect not only the architectural integrity of the home, but also reflect the lifestyle of the homeowners.

Meet the Business Owner

Joe D.

Business Owner

Joe Dodd, principal and owner, is a graduate of Purdue University’s school of Landscape Architecture and now resides and practices in Southern California. In his professional career, he has been a part of several large projects including international resorts, multifamily and urban design projects, and served as project manager for a large master-​planned community while working at an award winning design firm in San Diego. Joe has practiced and studied in several locations within the U.S. including Boston, Indiana, Phoenix, and currently Southern California. As a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Joe is involved with the ASLA San Diego chapter, and is currently being accredited for licensure through the LARE process.

Joe has previous field experience within the landscape construction industry which provides him with a detailed knowledge of hardscapes, planting, irrigation, drainage, lighting, and custom-​built features.
