Import Tire

Despite the fact that this shop is in Normal Heights, not downtown on 13^th and G Street as Unilocal advises, this is a stand-​up tire shop. I don’t know anything about cars and drive a very nondescript Honda Civic Hybrid but I was treated well and given solid advice. The staff is super friendly, they have a nice koi pond in the waiting area and I was in and out in an hour and for a great price.
I had priced new set of tires online at a national discount chain and this shop beat their price by $ 50. I also got the friends and family discount because I knew my VIN. Kidding. But I did get a discount by including alignment.
So, shop local and you won’t be disappointed!

Caution… they are no longer located on 13^th. Apparently they have combined with Tire Depot on Adams and are now doing business as American Tire Depot. Even with the confusion, driving downtown, and finally finding their location (could have mentioned that on the phone), I am having tires installed. I’ll update my rating if I am pleased, but a little baffled since Import Tire has always been a great place in the past. Just poor communication I guess.

I needed new tires, and went to my Acura dealer to find out that they wanted WAY too much money for the OEM tires. I said no thanks and took my money elsewhere. I found import tire a year or two ago, and the guys there set me up with a wonderful set of Sumitomo HTR ZII tires for my Acura RSX Type S. I got a great deal, and was impressed with how fast they got me in and out of there.
Now here’s the real reason they get 5 stars. A bit after I got my new tires installed, I took my motorcycle up for an overnight ride out of town. The next morning I came back, I found my car sitting in front of my house in cinder blocks. Someone had stolen my wheels (and tires too obviously.) I ordered new wheels online, and called Import Tire. I told them the situation, and had my new wheels shipped to them so they could mount another set of Sumitomo tires on them.
A few days later, when the wheels arrived, they called me to notify me that the tires were ready, and, (here is why I will always buy tires from them) he offered to drive up to north county where my car was, to put them on for me since I had no way of getting the new wheels/​tires home. He said it was no trouble, that it was on his way home.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL BUSINESS to support, and as you can see, they will treat you as a customer, a human, not just a number in their sales books. See if Express tire or Discount tire will offer to do that for you! These guys are genuinely good people, and I will continue to buy all of my tires from them for years to come.

I love these guys… they special ordered tires for my BMW… an old 507, very hard to find tires. They called me and we discovered the shipper sent the wrong ones… They convinced the shipper to special deliver the correct tires and they went out of their way to make me a happy driver.
I later used them for my truck tires. They’re great… I hope they never close.

The other day I had routine service completed on my 2003 BMW and I was informed that my front tires were showing some excessive wear and should be replaced and of course they are quick to quote their replacement cost which always is ridiculously overpriced.
After being insulted with their greedy pandering I deceided that not only was I NOT going to allow them to replace them but I would replace all four tires with some top-​of-​the-​line Japanese tires… I must have called ten different tire stores and just happened to come across Import Tire and not only did they have what I wanted– I got all four tires replaced and balanced for what BMW wanted to charge for two inferior tires (no charge for balancing here by the way).
When I got to the shop there were two people in front of me and within minutes customers were lining up around the block. Service was outstanding and quick– MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
