Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina

When we got here our room had electrical problems. Our a.c. Did not work nor did the bathroom lights, that was acceptable at the sleazy in down the street, but not here, not for these prices. After about an hour of troubleshooting from the electrician we had to change rooms. They took care of use and gave us 2 complimentary breakfest buffet, and reimburse our parking pass. So thank you for your awesome service.

My gf had her wedding here and lucky for me I was so honored to be invited to be in her wedding entourage. I was also invited to stay overnight in a hotel suite. The grounds are beautiful. The hotel suites are not very far from where the wedding and reception was. The rooms had really nice views of the bay. The rooms were comfortable. The only issue I really had was the noise level. There were kids next door and you can hear them running the halls. I know in the bride’s room, there was a loud party across the hall. Quite annoying…
There was a tent set up for the lunch reception. It was actually pretty nicely set up. Wasn’t crowded and had lot of space. It was open on one side and the ocean breeze was coming right in. The only downfall was that there was a slide show, but it was too bright. We couldn’t even see the screen. Sad!!!
Nice venue for a wedding reception option in San Diego with onsite banquet and rooms available for guests.

My wife and I stayed here two nights for a little romantic getaway. A very friendly staff, and beautiful facility with many contemporary furnishings. We were even given a free upgrade to an ocean/​pool view room without requesting it. A huge thumbs up was the very comfortable bed and pillows; a must with my bad back. Those were the pluses.
Now the negatives:
Terrible TV reception
Extremely slow draining sink which called for maintenance
Stopped up toilet which also required a maintenance call the following morning; and after waiting some 45 minutes, a second call. This time with only a wait of 5 minutes
Paper thin walls. And with an adjacent room occupied by an extremely noisy family; adults and children, including a crying baby, a real killing point to true relaxation. This hotel even has a «quiet» policy after 9 PM; so why are your little ones still running back-​and-​forth onto the balcony and screaming well after midnight???
A beautiful and friendly hotel, but maybe not quite suited for a couples romantic getaway.

Had a pleasant stay for 2 nights during a business conference. The Hyatt was busy and the staff worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable. Service was great and the food catering also very good. This is a unique hotel with a beautiful interior courtyard /​garden and swimming pool that is popular with kids. Can be somewhat noisy as a result of the kids, but that didn’t bother me (nights were quiet.) Seems like an ideal place to take the family or hold a business convention.

The pictures of the room looked good online. These rooms are very outdated & old.
1^st night the heat didn’t work
2^nd night the heat still didn’t work, after complaining to fix it because the kids couldn’t sleep
2^nd night the elevator didn’t work to go up to the 2^nd floor
We ordered In-​Room services for food & next day when cleaning crew comes to clean the rooms they didn’t take the empty plates. When I called them to see why they left the empty plates. They stated that the food & delivery people must come back to pick it up. Never heard that the cleaning crew does not take out the empty plates.
2^nd & 3^rd night: elevator still didn’t work; heat issues after supposedly they fixed it. They had a large Christmas party or something & there was no room for guest staying at the hotel to park at all for 2 nights
4^th night: since we been here there are too many random people walking around on the grounds. fire alarm at 3am & disrupt everyone’s sleep, they blamed it on someone random when in fact it’s a bad system.
5^th Night: fire alarm decided to go on at 4am disrupt everyone’s sleep. This time I go to the management office & they said it’s a malfunction issue.
If you are looking for Hotel based on comfort this is Not your spot. Unless you want to sleep UNCOMFORTABLE
Hopefully everyone that works at this hotel get retrained & they have better controls in place.

Ok… we had a nice corner room in the tower with a pretty sick view. I had originally upgraded to a suite, but after seeing pics here and some reviews we opted out of that. We had a room because my wifes Christmas party is always held here. We arrived at 4:30 and we’re told our room on the 11^th floor wasn’t ready yet (UHG!) But they had one ready on the 6^th, so we took it. Room looked great at first, but then we noticed the gross stains on the chairs and dirty walls. The walls are THIN as we were woken up at 6AM by thunder from walking above us. And the corner rooms have two extra windows WITH MINIBLINDS! East facing walls so this is just terrible! That is that main reason for 3 stars… our room was nice and bright at 6:30 when the sun came up. Lucky for me i use an eye mask, but not the wifey! All in all, decent stay. 35 bux to self park is beyond a joke, maybe next year we’ll take an Über.

Came here for Daphne L.‘s wedding and the venue is very pretty. The tents were a bit confusing on entrance but at least it was one of the few events going on that day for us to figure it out.
I’ve had my girlfriends visiting from MA stay here years prior and always thought the room was a bit ordinary, but maybe it’s changed. I do remember that the service is great and the view from the room was pretty, but I remember not thinking it was worth the price considering the outdated parts of the room.
This time, I want to write a review in the sense that my daughter needed to use the restroom during the wedding and one of the staff members suggested I went to another part of the hotel since it was a family restroom and is more spacious with a baby changing station if i needed it. My daughter is potty trained but I thought the gesture was really nice.
Best of all, after the wedding, we went to Mission Bay to fly a kite since we were so close to the Marina.

I got to stay here this weekend for my friend’s wedding. This place is soooo beautiful. The rooms were very clean and nice! And the view outside is priceless! I loved looking out during the sunset and waking up to the morning sun with the ocean right by the hotel! The hotel was very helpful and had an amazing set up for the ceremony and reception. It is perfect for a classy beach wedding. The pool looked amazing at the hotel as well which I didn’t have time swim!
Overall I loved my stay:)

This place is awesome for out-​of-​town guests or locals wanting to have their own «staycation». The hotel is very cute and very «beachy.» Once you make it past the beautiful lobby, you head upstairs to your room which is sort of a hybrid. The ceiling is open so it has that outside motel feel, but in the day time, rich sunlight peaks in through the beams and warms you right up. The hotel is pretty old in comparison to the ritzy places, not on Hotel Circle, but closer to the downtown area. The room is very standard but clean. The best part of the hotel is truly the pool! The pool is modeled to look like a beach and they have water slides for kids.
For those who are proud business owners and can’t keep away from checking emails, I don’t recall being given a WiFi code, but there was a business center I visited quite often with comfy ergonomic chairs and fast internet.
BTW, if you’re valet type of person, this place isn’t bad. It’s only $ 10 if you don’t feel like searching for a spot on the street or the teeny-​tiny lots.

So disappointing! Do not let the pictures fool you! We booked this hotel because we love Hyatts and have always had nice stays at them — also because of the beautiful pictures on their site.
Marina was beautiful and so are the views of the ocean. Pool and landscaping was also beautiful however we never got to enjoy the pool. Don’t know what the problem was but it would be an absolutely beautiful day — 75 & sunny on the boardwalk, yet you go to the pool and it’s freezing and windy. Not sure if it’s always like this but it wasn’t even that cold on the beach.
There were 2 good things about our room: the large size (corner suite) and the view of the marina. Other than that the room was extremely disappointing. Stains on the carpet and couch. Looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a year (dust all over phone, nightstand, headboard, etc). The cable didn’t work for the first 24 hours we were there, and the water in the bathroom was scalding hot — the faucet, the toilet, everything! So bizarre.
When the room was booked it advertised a complimentary breakfast for gold passport members — we were told there was no such thing upon check-​in.
I would say the highlight of the stay was the complimentary bike passes and the nice gym. You could get bikes for free for 2hrs at a time and ride them down the mission beach Boardwalk– this was very enjoyable.

We mistakenly booked this hotel due to delegation gone wrong. We had 3 rooms there and it was great. The grounds have a great atmosphere from the restaurant on the pier, to the bar overlooking the pool. The gym overlooks the water and is right next to a small coffee store. While the included features are great, there is not much else near besides sea world which means a car is almost a must have for staying here.
The reasons they did not get a fifth star:
They charge 35 $ a night valet parking fee, or you can park yourself for $ 35.
Very limited non hyatt entertainment nearby
Very squeaky doors (my daughter couldn’t sleep through a single night here because anytime a neighbor came or went the squeak would wake her up)

Super friendly staff and great service. I wanted to hook my computer up to their TV to watch some stuff, which most hotels frown on and when engineering came to help I expected the typical what you are trying to do can’t be done, but instead they told me it wasn’t working because I would need an HDMI cable, and an RCA to HDMI adaptor. Well shit, I didn’t pack those things. Engineering brought me both the HDMI cable and the Adaptor free of charge still in original packaging. He then told me if it didn’t work to my satisfaction they would bring a 3^rd TV into my room (a newer one, for conferences and events) that would allow me use inputs better.
They were very accommodating for our child, at the restaurant and in our room. Providing both a pack and play as well as a crib.
Summary: If i’m going to sea world, or looking for a budget stay in San Diego again me and my family will for sure return. The suites were amazing views and great floor plans. We frequently had all 7 people over in my living room area and it never felt cramped. I felt very well taken care of and hope to see them again.

I give my two night stay a solid 3.5 stars. Granted I did have my room upgraded but I see why people are complaining.
I stayed during the week and there were no crowds but there are lots of kids. This place is very kid friendly but if you’re looking for a romantic quiet getaway this isn’t it. On a side note if and when I do have children this is where I’m coming. The water slide is pretty special.
We stayed in the tower and the rooms and view were amazing. We didn’t even watch the crummy satellite tv with fuzzy picture. We sat on the balcony and it was perfect.
I didn’t like that you are nickel and dimed for parking, drinks, including fountain sodas… the AC was moldy and dripping water, I assume from the constant heat outside and balcony being opened and closed. I did order room service since it was available and the dinner and dessert was much better than I expected. The concierge that brings up requests was very helpful and pleasant. I recommend packing your own drinks alcoholic or not. There was a fridge and safe available. The room was clean apart from the AC unit but from what I’ve read I would only stay in the upgraded rooms. I will be back but mostly for the location. Didn’t eat on site too many great places around town.

What a perfect place to stay at for weekend getaway! Really feeling much R&R. We have an awesome view of the Marina Bay. Room is very clean. Service is quick. All the staff are accommodating. If I could, I’d love to stay longer.

I remember this being a decent hotel a couple of years ago; however, this time around – while I’m getting a nice ocean/​bay view – I found silverfish in the bath and killed a bug in a bed that had someone else’s hair in it. That’s just gross. G-​r-​o-​s-​s.
I’m never the one to call for anything but room service, but I can’t sleep soundly in that room.
Would I return? No.

Its too bad. I tried for years to get my kids over to this hotel, but it was always booked on the weekends. I finally book it and my kids have totally outgrown it. So this was the first and probably last time I’ll stay here.
Pros:
–VIEW, VIEW, VIEW. Hubby and I watched the sunset & sunrise over Mission Bay from our balcony on the 17^th floor.
–Location. Great area to stroll and talk. Plus, you can watch the seals.
–Rooms are comfortable in the Tower.
–Service was good. Valets were friendly & servers at restaurant.
–Pool has waterslides (so a big hit with kids).
Cons:
–Crowds. This place was packed. 2 weddings were going on; thus, no chairs left at the pool. Plus, a kid had an «accident» in one of the pools and they had to close it. Yeah, I didn’t swim this weekend. There was always a line at the check-​in desk. Also, had to call the hotel operator several times and it would ring a minimum of 4x before someone answered. A couple times, no one answered and I just hung up.
–Regency Club Room tiny. I use to love getting access to Regency Club because the kids could get snacks. BUT, this one is tiny and packed. Hubby and I stopped by twice and grabbed a drink and left. No way were we sitting in there.
–Parking. $ 35. It looked like it was $ 35 whether you valet or self park. Yep, I valeted.
–Quality of restaurants within walking distance.

Their blueberry-​pecan yogurt smoothie is to die for!!! I had this every day for breakfast while I was staying there. Also the eggs Benedict! Yummm!!!

This hotel would benefit from an update.
Good things:
— The place and décor look beautiful at a glance.
— The landscaping is also beautiful.
— Responsive staff
Things to improve:
Cleanliness. I couldn’t sleep and was afraid to touch anything. For a 4 stars hotel, that is very bad.
I was looking forward to get a spa treatment, but now, I don’t think I will be comfortable to try.

I would like to let the entire Unilocal community know how much I love Hillary and Danny from the event department! They are so quick with their e-​mail correspondences and Hillary, especially, has been very patient with my many questions! As a very detail-​oriented, type A personality bride-​to-​be, I need every aspect of my wedding figured out even though there’s still many months ahead of me. Hillary is so sweet and has been more than willing to answer all my questions!
I feel super blessed that my fiancé and I found her and decided to go with the Hyatt because ever since we first met Hillary, she has been super friendly and has been able to work with us on on budget.
I highly recommend you check out the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay if you’re thinking about getting married at a beautiful location with a great staff! The venue is really beautiful and they offer many ceremony and reception locations in the resort! We decided to go with the tent because it is absolutely gorgeous and if it is a nice day, one of the walls can be rolled up so your guests can get an amazing view of the bay!
We have a lot of out-​of-​town guests coming and were pleasantly surprised with the amazing hotel block deal that they gave us!
I am true a believer in Unilocaling my wedding vendors so I felt the need to discuss this amazing venue before my wedding actually takes place.
I will update my review after my wedding.

Not a fan. Let me count the ways:
1. $ 35/​day valet; $ 25/​day self park
2. Rooms with a King bed are in the main & Bayview buildings and are very old and remodeled, yet the ceilings are old and are sunken in from water damage and gives it the feel of a very old apartment. Worse yet the smell of mildew is very strong, so much so, I went back to the front desk and complained just to be told others have complained, too. This was my first and second impression, as I was moved from one to the other. Third room was in the tower, and much better.
3. Every 30 seconds a plane overhead from San Diego International. It’s in the flight line.
4. Captive by the Red Marlin restaurant. The 4 restaurants nearby are heavily worn and in need of a facelift ( Unilocal, 2.0−3.0 star)
Pluses:
1. On the marina
2. Seals. They very often float around especially at the end of the fishermen’s day.
3. Red Marlin restaurant. Nice view, drinks, and food is pricy but very good.
4. The tower rooms were nicely decorated with balconies.
5. Pool. The pools, 2 with slides. Nice, but overrun by kids… if your looking for that, great.
It wasn’t originally a Hyatt, it was bought and re-​branded. In all, it’s a big disappointment of a hotel and not your typical Hyatt. The location on the marina and the tower rooms bring it up to a 2.0 star stay.

Visit 2÷12÷14. PASS!!! Checked in super late, like 11:30 p.m. I just got in and was just going to stay in a friends room but decided I wanted my own at the last minute. It was too late to find a good deal online so I just accepted the ridiculous ransom the room rate was at the time.
After finding out my friends got a better room for a third the price, I quickly got over the ‘blaaaah’ idea of sleeping on a roll out in someone elses suite for the rest of the weekend.
I went to check out the next day and was surprised by the amount of stupid additional fees. Mainly the ‘resort fee’ of $ 19. a day. I was seriously in my room for maybe 7 hours, tops and wasn’t made aware of this fee at the time of check in.
Honestly, this probably wouldn’t be that big of a deal if I hadn’t been bothered by security at 11:45 p.m. suggesting that my TV was quote ‘too loud’. I was in the room by myself and can promise, I was NOT blaring the lame TV channels.
There must have been some old couple sleeping next door. Whatever. Security actually used their key to ENTER MY ROOM unannounced.
I walked in from the balcony at the same time and almost lost it. If the old couple thought I was loud before, they certainly enjoyed my scream of ‘WTH!!!’ are you doing in my room?!?
They retreated with the proper amount of embarrassment. I snapped out of the shock and opened the door to stop them by the elevator. I wanted to find out if it was their procedure to enter guest rooms unannounced. I was so shaken that I resorted to business like interrogation which is way more familiar than random strangers entering my room in the middle of the night.
They explained that they have had people have heart attacks in their rooms and wanted to make sure I was OK. Well, on the surface that sounds cool. Looking out for the guests. Great! However, I don’t fit that stereotype in any possible way.
I’m bored talking about this already. Point is, don’t act like you are a high end resort and send thugs to unexpecting guest rooms with authority to open the door with no apology. If I wanted to be treated like shit, I’d go to the local Best Western. (is that bad enough to make my point?)
Overall unimpressive customer service. Kelly & Kristen at the front desk were especially unhelpful. Between the stupid resort fee, parking and ridiculously over priced drinks at the pool, I’ll stay elsewhere.
