Pete just left our house with a box full of Italian Honeybees! They were making a hive in our irrigation box, and I thought it was time to get a professional out to move them out! Pete is AMAZING with the bees… he is so calm and works very efficiently. Due to the fact that these were «friendly» bees, my sons and I were able to watch him work from the patio. As he pulled the large honeycomb pieces out, he broke off a small one, gently brushed the bees off into the box and brought it over for my boys to check out! It was so cool! There ended up being apprx. 20,000 bees in one irrigation box! Yowza! All have been transferred into their new mobilehome and are on their way with Pete, safe and sound. And he sealed up the hole in the irrigation box so no new bees try and make a home there in the future. Excellent service, very nice man who is willing to share fascinating bee facts! I highly recommend Honeybee Rescue!

Pete was able to respond within a few hours and relocate a colony of bees that had taken up residence in my ‘new to me’ grill. He told me to ditch the black cover and relocate the grill to an area that did not get morning sun. Lesson learned!

A few days ago, there were zillions of bees buzzing around in by back yard, and quite a few getting into the house. I called Honeybee Rescue. Pete asked me a lot of questions, and then said he would be there around 10:00 the next morning. He actually got there early. (He called me to let me know he would be early.)
There was a large glob of bees (maybe the size of a football) on a shrub. He got out a small box that was to be the new hive, put in some divider things the bees use, shook many of the bees into a new hive box, found the queen and put her in a little cage that clipped into the new hive, and the then smoked the remaining bees on the branch. He told me that they will follow the queen’s scent and go in a little hole in the hive. I must admit that I was skeptical. But in a little while there were 4 bees near the hole, then more and more to where they were just crawling on the new hive and going in the hole. Pretty soon he wrapped the new hive in two layers of canvas, and headed out to his truck. He said the would move the bees to a larger permanent hive. After he was gone there were maybe 10 bees left, and after a day just the few you would expect to find on flowers in the spring.
Pete really knows his bees, and he cares about bees. If you would rather have the bees live on, but just not in your yard, Pete is the man to call. Pete was not cheap, but neither was his price excessive. I felt happy about the experience. I’d say 2 or 3 $-signs.

I work in Retail Property Management. Every year we have pest control services come out to remove bee hives and every year it has bothered me. This year I was in the position to make a change. So far he has rescued over 20,000 or more bees from our properties and we will continue to call this expert in hive rescue. Prompt service, respect for the bees, calm and gentle removal with complete cleanup and he follows up with details and photos during the process! I love seeing how he has removed every trace of the bees and know he’s given them a good home. His pricing is very reasonable and honest. If you’re going to pay to have bees removed, isn’t it better to save them?

After coming home from running errands and deciding an hour of working in the backyard was in order, I opened the gate to see hundreds of bees flying around. I was a bit surprised but even more surprised to see that a swarm of bees had already started making threir home in my orange tree. There was a football size group of bees on one of the branches and hundreds still flying around. I immediately went back into my house, turned on the computer and logged into Unilocal.I was happy to see all of the positive reviews for Honeybee Rescue so I picked up the phone and called. Pete answered the phone right away. I told him what I just saw and he explained that I came in right at the end of their swarm. He explained his removal process and said he will take them home to his property. He said he would be here within 45 minutes but showed up quicker than that. He walked up to my door with a jar of beautiful honey and his business card. I showed him where the bees were. He then went to his truck to get his gear. He removed the hive as we watched from a bedroom window. He even showed my son and I a male bee and explained that they don’t have stingers. He was such a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him!

Thank you, Pete! I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Honeybee Rescue! He was friendly, early and extremely detailed (I received texts, pictures, emailed pictures of the whole service). For only $ 200 (only $ 100 more than exterminating this precious population), Pete was here for quite awhile rescuing the hive that was in our irrigation box. After the bees were loaded safely in his truck, he sealed the boxes so that bees couldn’t return and make a new hive. To top it off, he gave us a jar of honey! :)

My husband talked to several bee removal companies when we had a swarm take up residence in a citrus tree. Pete sounded the most informed and cared about saving the bees. During the removal, He explained the process to our young daughters and moved the hive without a single problem. Same day service. Excellent customer service. On a previous bee infestation, a Different company immediately identified the bees as «Africanized» and offered no options other than extermination. This time I think we made the best decision to hire Pete, a true beekeeper. He will be our #1 referral and our call if any bees ever return!

When I noticed a lot of bee activity around the foundation of a garden shed, I knew a hive was moving in. These days, the last thing I wanted to do was kill a healthy honeybee population, particularly since we’d gone to the effort of planting natives in place of lawn to attract these very critters. Still, I didn’t want them under my sideyard shed, since I have dogs that likely would come into contact with them. So, I looked up bee removal on Unilocal and found Pete. We talked a bit on the phone about my particular situation, and he agreed to come out.
Pete clearly loves his work, and his enthusiasm for honeybees is truly contagious. He had to cut through the floor of my shed after locating where the hive was located, but once he did, he was able to efficiently remove the entire lot with very minimal loss of bee life. The bees were all safely tucked into their new home and with the exception of a few stragglers that came back the next day, the entire hive was preserved safe and sound.
Don’t kill the honeybees! Call Pete and have them safely and humanely removed to a new home. His price was reasonable, his work was professional, and he’s just a darn nice guy!

The other reviews say it all! Seriously if youve got a ‘bee issue’ ya need to call the best! He will drop the most crazy knowledge on you about all things bees! Truly an expert in the field, and again, like some of the other reviews, i cant give enough praise to the guy! Hit him up!

I read the reviews and decided to call to see what my options are. Pete told me that around 6months worth of bees could be 10K-​15K bees, and that he would do a live removal. The furniture would have to go (due to wax build up) regardless of live removal or extermination.
I was quoted a price of $ 200 and approx.1 hour time for removal.
It did seem expensive, so i would need to think about it some more.

I do not have bee problems (knock on wood), I have paper wasp problems. But Pete was willing to remove the paper wasps for me. Last year he removed a huge hive of paper wasps and released them on his property where they could pollinate flowers for his bees. This year he returned and removed 9 hives of paper wasps. He also sends a newsletter to his customers with helpful information. What a great guy! I have a dog so I am glad he does not use any poison. Thank you Pete, and see you next year.

I really can’t say enough good things about Pete and Honeybee Rescue. I had been noticing a swarm of bee’s on my bosses property (I am a nanny) for the last couple of weeks. Come to realize that the bee’s were living in the ground in the water system box. Before the gardener killed them or one of the children got stung I searched Unilocal for «bee rescues» and called about 10 of them.
Pete was the first person I called and I should of gone with him right away, not only was he super friendly and reasonably priced he also came out right away and took care of the bees!

CRISIS AVERTED on a Saturday: After reaching 10+ answering machines and voicemails, I searched Unilocal and called Pete. He answered on the first ring, diagnosed my bee concern by phone (my self-​described hive was just a lovely, bunch of honeybumbles rummaging in my hedge and pollinating its flowers) and offered to come out for a more in-​depth evaluation if I was still worried (I’m allergic and have had two anaphylactic reactions). He was highly informative, took the time to ask several questions to help him assess the situation and within 5 minutes calmed my hive hysterics. I was truly thankful, beyond impressed with his knowledge of Hymenoptera (and his humane approach to management) and let him know he I would be keeping him on speed dial should I need to give him a buzzzzzzzzzz!

Pete is the best! We had a hive under the eaves of our roof, and I called multiple different companies. Pete was by far and away the most helpful, the most knowledgeable, and the most informative. He was also the most reasonable. And I liked the idea that the bees would be moved, not killed. I sent Pete a few photos of the hive, and he told me that they were just paper wasps, which do not need to be removed, and that I can just hit the hive with a hose in December. Sweet! He is even e-​mailing me information, even though he’s not being compensated for his time in any way. Super cool. Other companies were going to charge several hundred dollars even if it was a wasp hive. I’m so glad I came across Pete and Honeybee Rescue, and I’ll recommend him to everyone in the future. Pete was awesome. It was Easter Sunday and bees were moving in on our home. I called Pete thinking I would get an answering machine but I got Pete! He came right over and removed a large colonly of like 12 000 bees from our home. The bees were on a bush and were just about to move the queen into our game room and make it their permanent home. Had Pete not come when he did, it would have involved cutting into the game room to remove the bees. And he keeps the bees so they were not exterminated.

Pete helped my parents with a bee problem at their home in Escondido, CA. Pete was upfront and honest and gave them a quote and when charged they were even charged the lowest quote… what an honest man! Pete seems to really care about the bees ;0). We will use him again and recommend to anyone who has a bee problem… Pete is your guy!

OK I currently have a bee problem, freaked out and went straight to Unilocal!After reading the sincere reviews, I didn’t hesitate to call Pete… who as they said. answered right away. Pete talked to me for a good five minutes and unfortunately turned me away due to the problem that I explained. He did refer me to a very good credible bee pest control company who can help me and even said its a competitor of mine and the ONLY one I would refer you to and who I can trust not to rip me off. WOW… THANK YOU! Shows a great business person right there who takes pride in really helping someone. Gave me tons of tips on what to do after the pest control is completed. For not knowing his work, I will refer anyone who asks to Honeybee Rescue just for his customer service and HONESTY… Thanks Pete!

I’ve used Unilocal for years, but this is the first time I’ve been motivated to create an account and write a review.
I contacted Honeybee Rescue after finding them on Unilocal and reading the great reviews. My experience was also top-​notch and it’s clear that owner Pete Holzner loves his profession and I found him a pleasure to work with. I will gladly use him again — but hopefully all the tips he gave me to bee-​proof my property means I won’t have too!
I called on a weekend and he answered right away, no voicemail here. I described my bee situation and he described his process, gave me a very reasonable estimate range of what he thought the work would cost, and we set a date for him to come remove the hive.
Pete arrived promptly, we went to look at where my hive was, and then he walked me around my property and showed me all the small fixes I could make to bee-​proof my house. And since my hive was inside a fence that he had to remove a few slats off of, he also assured me he would send me instructions on what to buy and how to repair that since it is not part of his service (something he had also told me on the phone, so I was not caught off gaurd about having to self-​repair the fence which is a super easy job anyway).
Pete will ask you to stay inside once he beings working. Clearly he’s learned that everyone is fascinated with his profession because he took a video once he exposed the hive that had been built inside my fence and took a lot of excellent pictures throughout the process, all of which were promptly emailed to me that evening. He saw me watching from the window and brought over a section of the honeycomb for me to look at, and later brought me a clean section to keep for show and tell. There was also a large section of comb that had clean honey which I also got to keep and he gave me tips on how to extract/​use it.
The total fell within the estimate range I had been given on the phone. Follow up is amazing. As mentioned, I received photos, video, pdf instructions for bee-​proofing and for fixing my fence, a bee fun fact sheet and an invoice the same night. Two days later he returns to gather any remaining bees and sends more photos (I wasn’t home to see the work he did the second time).
I told Pete I felt like I had had my own personal Discovery Channel documentary — it was all very fascinating and educational and I enjoyed the entire experience and Pete is a delight. How often can you say that about having to spend money on problems at your house? I don’t feel like I just got a service, I got an experience and it was worth the money.

Got bees? Don’t kill them, call Pete at Honeybee Rescue. He’ll round up your bees and give them a great home where they can do their thing pollinating and making honey.
A swarm stopped into my compost bin just a day or so ago before I noticed. When I saw them, there were thousands of bees buzzing happily around. They didn’t bother me but my compost bin has other duties besides beeing a hive.
t didn’t want to kill them. Bees are having a hard time these days. So, I called Honeybee Rescue and within an hour Pete arrived to show me how it is done. If you ever have the opportunity to see someone move a hive, don’t miss it. The whole process was very educational and fascinating. Better yet, I didn’t even get stung when a bee decided to land on my hand to check out my camera. The best part was seeing how happy those bees were to move into their new home.
