Hillcrest Community Acupuncture

I went in with severe back pain and filled out all the forms. Then when the therapist was ready to take me in I asked him if I needed to change and he said no you will be sitting in a chair.
I wasn’t aware that I wouldn’t be lying down so I politely said sorry I wasn’t aware and that this wasn’t the acupuncture I wanted/​needed. I tried to leave and was immediately hounded by all three therapists. I tried to walk towards the door but the therapist wouldn’t move and was again hounded by all three therapists to stay and that their technique would work.
Well needless to say it didn’t work and my back is still in pain! Plus now $ 40 poorer and now have to schedule to go see a real acupuncturists! Not happy!
If a client wants to leave a business should never hound them into staying :{ Not good business!

Sacha was my tech. She was fast yet thorough when sticking me. I barely felt the needles as they went in. This place is super relaxing environment. She even let me stay a little longer as I was so relaxed i fell asleep. My pinched back nerve was improved, and I know I need to return for more treatments. I can actually afford it, very reasonable out of pocket cost. Was suprised so affordable. Thanks Hillcrest community acupuncture. I’ll be back.

This place is GREAT! I have been seeing Celeste for my chronic migraines and insomnia. She is awesome !! My symptoms improve with each treatment. Last week i came in with low back pain and hip/​sciatic pain and felt great after the treatment.
The atmosphere is so relaxing, and all the staff are very caring. I appreciate that i can come in regularly for the care i need because of the sliding scale. I always look forward to my treatments .

I am a healthier person today since going to Hillcrest Community Acupuncture! It is affordable on a sliding scale. I sometimes have insomnia and after a visit with Sacha I sleep soundly. Oscar is quite effective for treating my allergies. All of the acupuncturists
are attentive and help alleviate my headaches and body aches. There is relaxing music playing with pleasant smelling essential oils in the room. I sometimes fall into a blissful sleep or nap while reclining. It is relaxing place where I am taken away from all the aches of the day. I recommend Hillcrest Community Accupuncture.

I’m blessed to have found this place of healing. I’ve dealt with migraines and sleep issues for a lot of years. A friend told me to do acupuncture, so I decided to give it a try. I met with Celeste and she immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. Her gentle nature and compassion were truly genuine. She put the needles in and my migraine went away. Before I knew it I was deeply relax and even slept for awhile. I highly recommend this place to anyone who’s living with pain. You won’t have to any longer!

I found the group room to be a little stressful. The treatment itself felt rushed and impersonal. One of the points hurt intensely and I had to wave her down to take the needle out because I didn’t want to call out to her across a room full of people trying to relax. The treatment didn’t really make an impact in how I felt.

The owner called and was concerned and apologetic about my experience. (I left a two star review) I appreciate that she reached out and wanted to make things better. I’m sure since most of the reviews on here are so good that 99% of the time the treatments are great.

I was driving by just after receiving acupuncture down the street and saw their sign $ 20 to $ 40 visits. I called them on Sunday and they got me right in. They use a sliding scale to charge and I was a little skeptical. I was greeted with kindness and compassion and they took the time meet my needs. Oscar was amazing and I felt that they really cared about me. I went back today for another session with Sasha and was treated extremely well. The only bummer is that why didn’t I know about this place sooner. Acupuncture used to be a luxury for me but this place is so in-​tune and affordable, I can go as needed. 5 star service with 5 star results.

There are so many reasons I love HCA. First, acupuncture has literally saved me from hospitalization for severe all day nausea vomiting and food aversions during my first trimester of pregnancy. Not only do I feel less sick and able to eat, I am more relaxed, grounded, and my mood is lifted for days after each treatment. Second, HCA makes treatment affordable and accessible for me (a teacher) who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford acupuncture (trust me, I called a lot of places– I would have had to sell my unborn child). Third, I love the fact it is community style! I like feeling «not alone», as I relax and melt into the comfy recliner chair, with the diffusers and soft music going, around others on a mission for healing themselves. Last but not least, each doctor is warm, positive, and listens to what I’m saying. Acupuncture is not a overnight miracle, it can take a few treatments to notice results, but my body now craves treatments and I plan on coming throughout my pregnancy and beyond! THANK YOU HCA!

This is my favorite place to get acupuncture at in SD. Everyone that works here is friendly and professional, but Oscar and Sasha are my personal favorites. The room that you get your treatment in is kept at a cool temperature and is dark so it’s easy to unwind in so that you can fully receive the benefits of the session. Sasha even brings her sweet little dog Polly into the clinic with her. Today she crawled up on my lap and snuggled. It is truly a place for healing! And the pricing you cannot beat anywhere else! I love that this place makes acupuncture so affordable! Sometimes I go every week.

It is a really good place at an affordable price.
My injury is lasting for a long time now.

This guys are the best. Everytime I look for them I have the best service and the best results. I love them.
Last time I looked for it because of stress and I rested there with the acupuncture treatment for about 1 hour and 40 minutes. I really needed that time of relaxation.

I’ve been going to Sasha and Oscar for several years. I recommend Community Acupuncture to thrifty clients and friends who are too busy commit to full service acupuncture. I love I can walk in and be seen; I love on line scheduling; I love the relaxing atmosphere; love the low cost option for quality care. Most of all I enjoy how skilled and knowledgeable they are! I appreciate being able to come in a couple times a week if I need to when it’s convenient for me. This is a great, great place.

When I was looking for a place to begin acupuncture I researched more than a few places in San Diego, but I kept coming back to Hillcrest Community Acupuncture. I liked the idea of healing in a community space, but I was also a little leery of being immersed in that environment because I’m such a private person. But the minute I walked in the door I was impressed. Sacha is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met and she and her staff (Jason and Oscar) make you feel completely comfortable. The community space is warm and inviting and each time I go there I feel like I’ve made the best decision of my day. The cost is extremely affordable and there is no pressure to pay more than what you can. Herbs are offered but never pushed and it truly doesn’t matter which acupuncturist you see — all of the them are amazing. If I could give this place ten stars I would. I’m incredibly thankful!

I’m so grateful I found this place. I’ve seen Oscar, Jason and Sacha and I always leave feeling so much better! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to manage stress, anxiety, aches and pain and overall health at a affordable rate!

My wife and I recently decided to try acupuncture for the first time. After doing some research we knew we didn’t want to pay an enormous rate without trying it out. I didn’t really know what to expect at first but I’m glad we tried Hillcrest Community Acupuncture. Sasha made us feel welcome and explained the procedure to us. The environment is very relaxing. She even had her dog there with here:)

The short version: Great place! Highly recommended!
The long version: Went to this place a few times for lower back pain. It seemed to help a lot and I really enjoyed the chill environment during my treatment with Sacha. She mentioned all the things acupuncture can do and I was surprised to hear it is used for childbirth as an alternative to drugs. Fast-​foward a few months: my fiancé and I are in UCSD med center in hillcrest, trying to give birth the natural way (no drugs). My fiancé’s water broke and we were waiting to go into active labor but it just wasn’t happening. The nurses told us if it didn’t happen in 24 hours, we would no longer qualify for a natural birth at the birth center and would have to be moved down to the regular hospital delivery section with doctors and drugs. We tried hypnosis, castor oil, and everything possible to do it naturally when I remembered what Sacha had told me so I gave her a call. She got back to me quickly and even though it was her day off, she understood the seriousness of our situation and agreed to come to the birth center for a treatment! It helped relax my fiancé a lot and we believe it increased the frequency of her contractions but unfortunately we didn’t go into «active labor» in the 24-​hour period the hospital required. So we ended up getting 3ml of pitocin, a drug which induces labor. 3ml is a TINY amount compared to what people normally get. And the baby was born! We believe that the acupuncture combined with all the other things helped a lot. We really appreciated Sacha coming in on her day off and will definitely be using her in the future.

Please be sure to make an appointment before showing up. They may not have anything for several hours if you just walk in. Even after telling the staff I was going to come in the following day, no one suggested that I make an appointment. I came from Santee. So I couldn’t go to a fun event coming back 2 hours later.
They don’t say I’m sorry or anything. And if you mention something that went wrong like not getting a call back and getting called by them with a vmail that they’re trying to call someone else they don’t apologize either. They said it’s weird.

Affordable Miracle!!!
I have always been skeptical of accupuncture in general but when my Dr. recommended it as an alternative I thought what the heck I’ll give it a try. I’ve been treated for chronic migraines for 20 years and been on every prescription on the market. After just a couple weeks I noticed a MAJOR difference! Not only was it helping preventatively but also when one came I would go and get a treatment and it helped immensely! I love the relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. I call it my needle nap time! :)

How did I not know about community acupuncture before?! I absolutely love the idea of having treatments that are no frills, affordable and downright relaxing! I’ve had (personal) acupuncture in the past for a busted tailbone — loved it! With possible carpel/​cubital tunnel and unexplained numbness plaguing me, I decided to try acupuncture again, and I am so glad I found HCA. I’m already feeling the benefits after 3 treatments.
I love the energy in the room that I feel from not only the licensed acupuncturists but from the other clients (Oscar ROCKS, by the way). Kinda like Yoga class! Without the awkward Bird of Paradise. After experiencing HCA, I realized a one-​on-​one acupuncture treatment felt like going to the Doctor’s office. Blechk!
At HCA, you are in a room with a handful of other people (sometimes less, sometimes more), some relaxing music, and with your own reclining chair. Make sure your phone is on airplane mode, keep your voice to a whisper, add a few minutes as a human pin cushion (it’s not bad!) and then prepare to relax. You might doze off, you might attain a meditative state or you might sit with your eyes lightly open and day dream. When you are ready, key words here because there’s no time restraints, you just let them know you’re ready through body language and eye contact.
AMAZING! Needless to say, highly recommended.
