Hertz Rent A Car

This location has a lot of potential. It’s In a great area and probably stays busy. The staff, however, was not very professional. Shortly after dropping off their vehicle, I noticed I had left my prescription glasses in the glove compartment. I called and had the displeasure of talking to Mitchell. When he answers the phone, he makes you feel like apologizing for calling. It sounded like he was in the middle of doing something much more important than taking my call. But that’s not the end of it. I told Mitchell about my issue and he immediately responded, «we didn’t find anything». Well did you even look? I manage a hotel, Mitchell, I know how this works. So I asked him if he could ask around and follow up with me. Of course, he didn’t follow up so I called again. The second conversation with Mitchell was more painful than the 1^st. All of his managers were out of the office so I couldn’t talk to anyone above him. So I thought I’d push my luck for my $ 700 pair of Gucci’s that I need to drive on a day to day basis. I asked him if it was possible to reach out to the driver who currently has the vehicle. He couldn’t give me a straight answer and just said he’d call me. Of course he didn’t call me. So I called a third time and Mitchell has the audacity to ask «so what did you want again?» I couldn’t believe my ears. You have a Unilocal page, Mitchell!!! Work on your customer service please. I got off the phone with him after his memory mysteriously came back. He, suddenly, remembered that he talked to everyone, and even the driver who currently has the car, but nothing was found. I think he’s lazy and didn’t want to deal with me so he just said nothing was found! I’m furious because it’s unlikely that someone would steal prescription glasses. What’s worse is feeling like my voice isn’t even heard. I asked for a manager but Mitchell is a good gatekeeper. I don’t believe I can get past him.

Bottom line the WORST customer service and very sneaky hidden fees. 1^st it’s $ 60+ to rent, then an underage driver fee $ 50+ then you must purchase they’re insure and Cannot use your own even if it covers rental cars that’s $ 157. Then there’s an additional fee for leaving a 50 mile radius, then there is an undisclosed holiday fee! That they won’t tell you about till you pick up the car! THEN they charge your card all of this money AND they with hold the amount as well, SO THEY CHARGE YOU TWICE until the car is returned. Also you must rent for a minimum of two days so you need to double what they already doubled because these prices are for one day only! ($ 680+) And to top it all you you can’t return the car before noon on the second day! My flight leaves at 10am. And they wouldn’t work with me at all.

I always rent from this Hertz express office on Sixth downtown. They are awesome. They always greet me like a good customer and I love the cars — and always with a full tank. The office can be busy, but they always take great care of me. Always courteous and very pleasant and professional. It is easy to get to and easy parking, despite being right downtown. In four years, I think I have needed to trade in a car once because it seems like it was shifting a little bit rough. I often get upgraded and can always get a ride home, if needed. Best place I have ever rented from. Cory and his team are the best. Love you guys.

I just rented a car from Hertz at their downtown San Diego location on 6^th and appreciated both the professionalism of the staff and the efficiency with which they got me into a car and on my way. Cory was great. It was obvious they were busy because of several other people in the lobby, but Cory together with his staff was able to facilitate and appease everyone even with his shortage of cars because of Spring Break. I guess people like to keep their cars longer when they’re having fun on vacation. Lucky devils!
I’ve rented from this spot before, and have always been treated well. I called the location in advance to confirm they had my car in and everything was confirmed. For those that make reservations with Hertz or any other company, I highly recommend you call the location in advance to make sure they have what you’re looking for just in case. I learned my lesson the hard way.
These guys were great, and I look forward to renting with them in the future… like for my upcoming Vegas trip!

This place is great! I was a bit worried when I read the reviews, but I’m glad I went with them anyway. Great customer service! If something goes wrong, they will make it right.
I had called and asked if they had a vehicle that I could pick up within a half hour. They did not have one at their location, but took the time to drive me to the Hertz near the harbor. They were ready for me there and got me set up and in a car right away. I will definitely use them for any future car rentals!

What an absolute joke. What’s the point of making a reservation if they aren’t going to hold a car fo you? Even calling to confirm the reservation, being assured that there will be a car available, and what a surprise, no car. They informed me that the pickup truck they picked me up in is the only available set of wheels and that I’ll have to call them to check if they have something later. I have to do the legwork for your agents? Fine. No options. They said they’d pull the truck around for me, but only after they use my rental to go pick up another customer first. In my rental. So now I get to sit and wait in this mediocre excuse for a rental car agency while they bring in another customer who they won’t have a car for. Pathetic.

What a total disaster of a Hertz location. My experience was bad enough that I am going to switch and try Enterprise now for myself and my employees.
I reserved a car for last weekend. What do you think «reserve» means??? Shouldn’t they have my car? That’s what I thought it meant, but they did not think that a reservation actually required having a car for me??? Holy crap. So I arrive there to get the car, a little tight on time and I am informed that they didn’t have one and that I was third in line if some showed up. Perhaps a few hours… really, they think that little of my time? Terrible experience.
Then they blamed me for the problem saying that they called earlier in the day and left me a voice mail, but I didn’t answer so they didn’t have a car. Since when is it my fault that they don’t know what a reservation means? They did leave a voicemail and I did call back and told them that yes I would be there and needed a car, so they had ample time to get one to fulfill … you know … my RESERVATION!
So then they said that they would get me a taxi to the airport and I could get a car there (cause why would they care about the 20 — 30 minutes of my time that this would waste). Taxi came, I ended up having to pay (I figured they have an account), then the folks at the airport let me know that they only reimburse $ 5, so I should be responsible for the other $ 10 in the $ 15 fare. WTF!!! They did end up reimbursing me the whole amount, but beware that they may stick you for this bill too.
So I then found out that they were going to raise my fare, since it was at the airport where the cars are more expensive. Unbelievable right? They did seem to honor the reservation when I said that I simply would not pay it, but I am not sure that is the case. I think that they still might try to charge me extra (not sure yet).
So avoid renting from this place, since they do not honor reservations, you will waste time and you will get stuck with higher costs, if you do not fight hard to keep your contract.

Booked a car online and got a really good deal. The office is in the downtown area but not in the area where there’s too many cars driving by.
The office is huge. I did not have any problem whatsoever getting the rental or anything. The two people working there were really helpful and accommodating.
The best thing was that the add on driver does not have to provide a credit card unlike other places. There aren’t any hidden add on fees either. Everything was straight forward.
When I returned the car on a Saturday there was a long line and only one person working. It seemed chaotic for the person working but i didn’t have to wait in line to drop off the keys.
I would definitely rent from this hertz in the future.

This is Hertz is really close to my house. I use Hertz when I need to travel out of town on business. Renting cars is actually cheaper than mileage. I also dont want the wear and tear on my car.
Cars are always clean and tanks are full. Much more convenient than the airport location plus I dont have to pay «airport convenience» fees.
