They do great work here. I got my shoe tongue sewed back in and he even secured the other tongue, just in case. They give a 10% discount for new customers and Jason is very nice. They also have clothing repair, but I have not used that service yet. It is a convenient, central location for downtown San Diego residents and their prices are reasonable, unlike a certain other repair shop downtown, that shall remain nameless.

Have been going here for a few years and always makes my shoes brand new! Also love the seamstress. She’s a lifesaver and has such a fast turn around at amazing prices! Definitely check this place out

I am thrilled to have found Jason and his amazing shop. My sister recommended him to me after I moaned and groaned to her about my most treasured pair of wooden-​heeled wedges that are dying a slow death due to wear and tear. Jason asked me if I wanted a normal tune-​up that would get me through another season or the works that might carry me through a few. I told him to do whatever it takes to bring my shoes back to life!
I had planned on making a second stop up the road to have a fancy, new dress tailored, but saw the sign in Jason’s window and decided to give them a try with tailoring, too. As long as I was there, I might as well leave my dry cleaning, which I had planned a third stop around. Jason’s delightful seamstress showed me to a spacious, comfortable, private changing area and, once I was dressed, came in and offered the most helpful suggestions for how to make my dress I was so excited about (but devastated it did not fit correctly) make me look like a million bucks. I picked up my things tonight and let me tell you, look like a million bucks I do thanks to the lovely woman’s expert tailoring. I’ll never take my things anywhere else!
Jason said the only thing they send out is dry cleaning, so I expected a big bill, but found it to be very reasonable. Five stars all the way around.

Had a good experience with the owner Jason, who was very professional and a fun guy to talk to. Went in to replace a zipper, heel and clean up a pair of boots from years of New York City walking. They ask you pay up front, and received a phone call the minute the boots were finished. They looked brand spanking new! While the price was a bit steep, I think the quality of results and customer service is a fair price to pay.

I came in on Monday right before closing and dropped off some suede shoes I needed by Wednesday. I received a text the next morning saying they were ready. The owners were very friendly and the price was cheap. Bring your business here before you try anything else!

This place is amazing. They have friendly customer service, great craftsmanship, and pretty fair prices. I live over by little Italy and there are so many other shoe repair/​tailoring shops a stone’s throw from my place. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this store while taking a walk around. The owner was so nice, I decided to give this place a try. I dropped off 3 pairs of shoes that cost about $ 120 to fix. my old shoe guy would have probably charged me about $ 160 for the all the repairs I had done. One of the boots had a ton of work– a new sole on both shoes, cleaning, re-​dying the leather, and stitching. I also had a pair of suede boots that needed a complete cleaning and some heels that need needed to be taken in (he had to detach the sole from the suede upper). I saw a few reviews complaining about pricing but I think what I paid is awesome compared to the amount of work he had to do. I don’t think some people know exactly how much work goes into fixing shoes– it can be pretty laborious and time consuming. He had all of my shoes done within a few days and did quality work. I have a ton of pretty expensive shoes that have taken a beating over the years, and I completely trust that this place will take good care of them. I haven’t tried their tailoring services but I will be sure to give it try while I’m getting my shoes repaired.

Hello Everyone! I am writing this review to share my experience at shoebiz-​shoe repair shop in downtown San Diego. It is pretty simple-​the service is exactly what you looking for when leave your precious footwear & accessories there: professional, neat, High quality and what most important is the fact that they take responsibility for the job they are doing. I brought a pair of high fashion: Tabitha Simmons for adding rubber sole. The trick is that the shoes have a leather lace style cut outs and during the process the leather broke. Although shoe biz could find million excuses, they did not! I received a call, stating that they will be replacing my (500.00) shoes at their expense due to the un repairable damage. They purchased a new pair, applied new rubber sole. I stopped by and picked my shoes up in a week. No hassle, just great service and dedicated individual approach to every customer.
It took me quite a long time to find a place where my shoes & handbags will receive the best treatment and I am very happy that I found shoe biz

So grateful to have found Downtown Shoe Biz and Repairs, I have had a pair of cheaply made boots for 5 years now that are very sentimental to me, they’ve been through so many big parts and changes of my life! Unfortunately the sole wore down while I was wearing them and there was literally a big hole. I took it to a few places and they said they were beyond repair and weren’t worth trying to fix, as the material was also flaking off and worn down. I searched for boots for a good month and was so sad to not be able to have these boots back, so when I brought them here and they were happy to repair the soles, heels, and polish them for me, I was so happy. I picked them up today and seriously couldn’t believe my eyes. I highly recommend Shoe Biz, I have already told a few people and wanted to leave them a review to pass along how awesome they are. It’s hard to find a great shoe repair place, and they are extremely friendly and affordable. Oh and… they repaired everything in less than a day! So many other places have a week turn around. Thanks Shoe Biz!

Emma is great at what she does. She is careful and precise. I highly recommend her tailoring!

I’ve gone through enough tailors and have accepted that shoe repair has good and bad days. But none of the tailors I have ever used come and pick up shoes in our office and then later deliver them (usually after 2 – 4 days). I can also get dry cleaning done as long as it’s not a rush. Overall I’m happy after 3 years.

They promised they could fix my heels and all the did was Polish and clean them. 7 pairs cost me about $ 75. I was not satisfied with their work.

Geez… I really can’t stand when these owners reply and just try to cover their mistakes instead of trying to make things right.
First of all, you gave me 10% off because I had a Unilocal coupon… Not because you were trying to compensate for your mistake.
Second, I understand that you can’t charge based off how much I paid for my shoes. However, if you read carefully, you would see that the reason I said how much I got the shoes for, is because if I knew your repair would be so expensive, I would have thought twice about making the repair.
Third, you did an unauthorized repair on my shoes. I never said that you could fix them. I was waiting for a quote. You can’t just do whatever you want with people’s property and then charge them whatever you want later. I took in ONE shoe to be repaired. If you thought that the other one needed repair, you call the customer, tell them what needs to be done, and tell them the price. Then get CONSENT.
I don’t see what the «miscommunication» was here. You simply did an unauthorized repair on my shoes, and charged me a price that I did not agree to. The only reason that I paid, is because I didn’t want to create a stir over $ 18. Too late for that now though I guess…
Bad customer service… Will not be returning!

I took my sandals into this shop a few weeks ago, after one of the straps had broken off. They were an older pair that I have been wearing for years, and they are pretty beat up, but since I wear them often, I thought I would bite the bullet and repair them.
I take them into the shop, but I guess the guy who does the repairs wasn’t in, so the girl told me to just leave them, and he would call me back with a quote. Although only one strap was broke, I left both sandals.
Instead of getting a call for a quote, I get a text saying that my shoes are ready for pick up. The cost was $ 18, and I was informed that both soles were re-​glued to the shoe, even though only one was broken.
To be honest, I don’t even think I paid $ 18 for these sandals. I remember getting them on a great sale, and I purchased them probably 5 – 7 years ago. If I would’ve known the cost, I would’ve thought twice about the repair.
I can’t really speak to the quality of the repair since I haven’t worn them yet. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews, and thought I found a good repair shop that was just a block away from my house. I wanted to bring in some of my louboutins to put on red soles, but now I’m very hesitant to come back.
The only reason that I am giving two stars instead of one is that the woman I dealt with was very nice and even when I got a text about the pick up, the guy apologized for the confusion. While I can appreciate that, I still think that he likely did some unnecessary repairs, and charged me a ridiculous price to fix a flip flop after the repair was already completed. Sigh!

I came here to have about 10 garments repaired and a few more altered. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a good tailor when you wear a suit every day to work. I am absolutely blown away by how quickly, efficiently, and beautifully this tailor was. I turned in that many garments on Tuesday evening and they were ready by Friday. I didn’t even ask for them to be done quickly, I said «whenever you have time.»
That kind of turn around with high quality work AND great prices can’t be beat. Absolutely deserved a 5 star review.

I’ve been coming to Downtown Shoe Biz for a few years now. Jason is fantastic and honest. He’ll tell you if something isn’t worth fixing or if it can’t be fixed.
Most recently I brought in a pair of boots that my son inherited from his grandfather; the sole had worn through. Jason is going to resole and revitalize the boots. I had him look at the elastic that holds the buckle and Jason felt it had some more life in it and it wasn’t worth replacing. Dropped them off on Saturday and today’s Monday [!] and they are ready.
I referred a friend to Jason for a quick turn-​around luggage repair and she was thrilled at the results.

I got burned going to another shoe repair place, where 2 of the 5 pairs I brought over were permanently ruined (they applied polish to suede leather…).
Or so I thought. Downtown answered my email inquiry promptly, and miraculously saved the pairs. They are certainly not cheap, but if quality comes first for you then I wouldn’t waste time elsewhere. They do amazing repair work on women’s shoes in particular. I couldn’t recognize a pair of my fiancés that I brought over.

I brought a favorite pair of boots here, based on the Unilocal reviews. I had used a different shoe repair business in the past, but I wanted something a bit closer to home, if I could find it.
I’m glad I did the research! This place is awesome, and convenient for me. I swung by one day after work, and asked if they could help me by making my left boot stop squeaking. It was pretty distressing — every time I took a step, the boot would go «squee-​squeak!» I became very self-​conscious because of the noise — it sounded very loud in the office, and it made it hard for me to sneak up on people!
At any rate, I dropped my boots off, told him about the squeaking, demonstrated it on the offending boot, and then asked him to also check the right one, because it had been known to squeak — albeit softer — at times.
He took my boots, told me it shouldn’t be a problem, and gave me a ticket for pick-​up in two days’ time.
I went back in three days later, and he remembered me the second I walked in. He went to the back, brought my beautiful boots out, and showed me that the squeak had been eliminated. Not only had it been eliminated, he told me that, should the squeak return, I could bring the boots back and they’d fix them for me again, no charge!
Super happy with the fix, and the service — and the price is phenomenal. I didn’t pay more than $ 10 for them to heal my heel. (See what I did there?)
