Hair Extensions By Franki

Let me start by saying that the staff is so friendly and inviting. At no time during my appointment were they rude or made me feel uncomfortable. But, on to the reason why I gave them 3 stars.
Initially, I wanted to try out some extensions and a blonde ombré. Had my consultation, everything seemed great. I was told most people get between 3 – 4 bundles and rarely get 5. 5 bundle is for «extremely thick hair». well, during my consultation, Franki told me I had really thick hair and we could do 5 bundles. I was shocked, but got 5 and anxiously awaited my appointment. After ordering my hair I completely forgot to ask how long the extensions were but felt confident that they were long enough for my liking. After asking, I was told that they were 20 inches. I normally get about 26 inches but thought it would be okay because I have had 20 inches before and it was still long. Come appointment time, we’re installing my hair and dying it. Whole process took around 4 hours.
Fast forward… my hair is now done and styled. It’s not ombréd, its highlights. It looks NOTHING like the picture I showed them. The hair is SHORT. Looking at it, it looks like the hair is anywhere between 16 – 18 inches which threw me for a loop because almost ALL of the pictures show girls with LONG hair. But mine was nowhere near that length (or thickness). BUT, the way it was styled made it look really pretty and so I decided to go with it because it looked really nice. So at this point. my hair actually looks really thin, and when I asked she said it was because my hair was really fine. Which made no sense because initially, I was told it was fairly thick. Either way, I said thank you and was happy because regardless, my hair looked really nice.
Fast forward 2 days later, I wash my hair and dry it. That’s when I notice. I absolutely HAVE to curl my hair for it to even look remotely realistic. There is a whole layer of my hair on top that does not blend into the extensions AT ALL. So I guess wearing my hair straight is out of the question now. As I’m looking at my hair, I notice that their way of «blending» my hair was to attempt to dye little parts of my natural hair a blonde. That would have looked better if it wasn’t a different blonde than the extensions. So at this point, I can’t wear my hair straight, it doesn’t blend and it looks noticeably fake.
Overall, I was happy when I initially left but I accredit that to the fact that they curled my hair to make it look nice. but after going home I was less than thrilled. This exact experience is why I wanted to start a career in cosmetology in the first place and also why I became a SS as well. The pictures and reviews are what drew me here initially but after my experience, I don’t think I’ll go back. Needless to say, I wish my results looked like those in the pictures. I don’t know if they half-​assed my hair or what, but I’m pretty disappointed.

It’s hard to think of something to say that hasn’t already been said in other reviews. Franki, Angelica and Jackie are superb at what they do. When Franki wasn’t available, Angelica was able to see me and was just as fantastic, if not even more gentle. I was extremely pleased with the results, it just took a few days to get used to them. Only my mom suspected I got extensions; everyone else thought my hair grew really long since the last time they saw me! That is quite a feat considering my baby fine, delicate hair.
The salon is clean and cute, and always has a great vibe. It’s the highlight of my day when I come here, and now that I live in Los Angeles, I «commute» here once a month! Also, I doubt you will find anyone this amazing at extensions for the price, which was a factor for me. While I haven’t tried any other salons or extension systems for comparison, from what I’ve read Dreamcatchers extensions are very high quality, and Franki is committed to providing the best value, service, and attitude in the business. She offers free consultations, so you have nothing to lose!

In my research to get hair extensions from a good place, I called her up. She said all questions could be answered on a consult, but as this was my first time getting extensions, and I got my hours cut at work the same time I moved into an apartment that is much more what I was paying before, and seeing as how I’m dipping into my savings for a post-​cancer vacation overseas!, I had a few questions.
I had looked on YouTube to see what length extension I wanted, I thought it was a certain size so I asked if she had that in stock. She told me nobody every ordered anything that long and then she quoted me a much smaller size than I thought I needed and said that would be the length to go with to get what I wanted. Because I was nervous and wanted to make sure I would be getting the right length, I said to her, «Oh, are you sure? Because I looked online and it seemed like I needed something longer.» She got really haughty with me and said, «I have been doing this for 20 years! I know what I’m talking about!» Is that how you are supposed to speak to a customer? I really liked the work I saw from her on Unilocal,but after the way she talked to me, I am going to pass on her.

I had tape extensions and a dye job done by another salon… HUGE MISTAKE! They were put in wrong and were ruining my hair, not to mention she dyed my hair black when I asked for chocolate brown. I was so unhappy with my hair. The extensions were falling out and the person that put them from the other salon went MIA when I tried to get them fixed.
I found Franki through Unilocal.All the reviews are true! Franki and her staff are absolutely AMAZING! ! I was just going to go for a consultation on Friday, but they ended up taking out my extensions without ruining my hair and doing a color correction all without an appt. because they saw how upset I was about my hair. They did a fantastic job and I am loving my new color! They didn’t push me to get new extensions, they just wanted to help. They truly care about their customers! Franki and Angelica are my angels! Thank you ladies sooo much! I highly recommend Franki and her staff to anyone that is looking for extensions or a color correction. They know exactly what they are doing. I will be back soon!

Another LONG overdue review. At first I thought Franki was great. I wanted extensions, but was worried my hair was too thick. She assured me she would not sell them to me or put them in if she thought they’d look bad.
First, she ordered one of the colors incorrectly. As a bright blonde, she ordered a low light tone with red in it. I had to return to the salon for low lights in my natural hair to match the tone. Franki did not do the low lights, she had another girl do it. This is common practice here, and during most of my visits another stylist or an assistant helped with my hair as Franki double and triple books.
Another issue I had was not feeing as though she was respectful of me as a client. When I would ask a question, or present a concern, she would tell me rudely to stop questioning her. Are you kidding me? I paid you a LOT of money on several occasions and I can’t ask questions?
The outcome of my hair was poor, even with curling the extensions they did not blend. I looked like I had a mullet. Not only that, she thinned the ends of my natural hair after I asked her not to. I took the extensions out elsewhere, and ordered a much better brand of tape ins. Babe and Hot Heads are much better for my hair and looked totally natural. I was counseled to extend my hair no more than 6 – 7 inches as opposed to the waist length Franki encouraged. (Franki did cut them to my mid back though she did not want to.) I do not currently have extensions in my hair, and my ends are frayed from the over texturizing. She used thinning shears and butchered the ends.
I would not give a 1 star review solely on my lack of satisfaction regarding my hair. The 1 star review is more importantly for the way I was treated and the her lack of professionalism.

I found Franki through Unilocal when looking to get extensions after a bad haircut. I text her and she responded within minutes and said she had an opening for a consultation that next day. I met with her, she looked at my hair and said that i was a perfect candidate and we picked the colors and she ordered the extensions and within the next couple days she had me booked for my install. I cannot begin to describe how amazing my hair looks. It feels amazing too and it only took her 1hr and 30 minutes. I would highly recommend Franki to anyone who is looking to get extensions. The quality of the extensions and her work really shows through in the before and after pictures. I will definitely be a customer for life.

My story: Prior to finding Franki and her staff, I had extensions for about a year and a half, and had the glued-​in kind. I payed a ton of money to have these glued in extensions. I mean 4 figures. They’d look gorgeous initially, but most if not all would fall out before my 6 week appointment, and I’d have to show up to this other, over priced salon with my hair in bag to have them put back in. That stylist, of course, said that’s to be expected… hmm…
Then, the worst thing happened: the stylist over processed my hair and my real hair broke off. Not little strands at the nape of the neck kind of breakage — full on chunks of hair framing my face broke so that they were about 2″ long. My own hair was fried and completely unruly. While the extension hair was soft, my own hair was dry, frizzy, broken and very thin. I could not blend the two at all. Not one for confrontation, I was so mortified, I finally confronted the stylist, who admitted that she never once trimmed my hair for the almost 2 years she had been my (only) stylist! She knew she messed up my hair, but not only no apology, she charged me $ 100 to try and cut the broken off pieces to blend into the rest of my hair (which was a fail). I had $ 1200 worth of hair on my head and was too embarrassed to be seen in public. Because of my super expensive hair! So ridiculous.
So, now I was in a difficult spot. I couldn’t just pull the extensions and get a cut. My hair was so thin! But I was worried that continuing to wear extensions would further damage my own hair. After a lot of research, I found Franki and went in for a consult. I was nervous because of my experience at the overpriced, uptight and unskilled salon, and Franki and her staff quickly alleviated my fears. She was as horrified as I was about the condition of my hair and the price I had been paying for the extensions I received at the other salon. She understood completely that I needed to get my own hair healthy again and use extensions that weren’t going to create further damage. I put my trust in her and she more than delivered on what I hoped she could do for my broken off, messed up, gluey head.
The extensions are so light, I barely know they are there. And she somehow managed to make my broken off pieces blend nicely. Styling my hair takes a fraction of the time it did with the glued in ones, and these actually stay in until my next visit, instead of sliding out as the last ones did! I’ve been seeing Franki for awhile now and those broken pieces are healthy and long again! YAY! I love my hair, too. We did a slightly different look last I was in, and my hubby says my hair is the best it’s ever looked! I agree! The price of the hair is a fraction of what I was paying at the other salon and the hair is a better quality, too.
As if this wasn’t enough awesomeness already, Franki is so fun and hysterical. I have such a good time going there and feel like I’m catching up with friends. Very kind and laid back atmosphere, and I’ve left the salon with my cheeks hurting from laughing so hard! My husband and son stopped by to meet me for dinner one time and both had their hair cut as well and loved their ‘dos! I will never go anywhere else and hope Franki never stops doing what she’s doing or moves away because I will have a total panic! Thanks so much to Franki and her staff. You guys are the best!!!

She really takes pride in her work and her passion for hair shines through her work. The quality of hair is amazing. I was a bleach blonde and wore hair extensions for many years and I have been wanting to gradually get back to my natural blonde hair color. Franki has done an amazing job with my color and the blending of my extensions. Franki and Jackie are amazing!!! I called last week for a consultation and they were able to get me in IMMEDIATELY! I was only expecting to go for a consultation and possibly make an appointment to get the extensions but that same day they were also able to color my hair and get it ready for the extensions! Just a few days later I was back for my appointment and I could not be more impressed! I just moved to San Diego almost a year ago and I’ve been trying different salons trying to find «the one» and this is by far the best place I have ever been! They are the sweetest girls and so fun and easy to talk to! My hair was extremely damaged from before and I have broken off uneven ends from where I had bleached it before. I was worried that it was beyond the point of repair but franki and Jackie completely transformed my hair!!! I am absolutely obsessed and the extensions didn’t take long at all to install!!! I feel like a completely different person and could never live without these again! They feel amazing and I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without them! Omg! Love my hair! !! Amazing transformation! ! This woman is the bomb… Came all the way from Dallas tx just to get my hair done … beautiful salon on the 2ed floor very elegant /​posh looking. her personality is 100% .the ambient.. omg im speechless. .im very content and will definitely come see her again … if you live in the San Diego area or are flying from onother state chances are you will make a new frind this woman is amazing at what she does! I can’t say enough about Franki and her amazing staff at Splash! I had recently moved from LA and have been wearing Keratin extensions for years. After spending $$ thousands of dollars multiple times a year, totally damaging me hair, driving myself crazy with having to have 2 hair stylists (1 for extensions, and 1 for cut and color) I was happy to have moved to SD and even happier when I first called Franki to set up my consultation.
First of all, it was Franki’s day off and she called me back within 3 minutes of me leaving my voicemail. She listened to my dilemma and got me into her crazy busy schedule as soon as she could, even offering to meet me later that same day (ON HER DAY OFF!!).
I met with her for my consultation the next day and she was so friendly and fun to chat with. She explained the process and let me see her work in action on some of the ladies in her salon and a few clients that were there that day for touch-​ups. Everyone looked amazing and had great things to say about Dreamcatchers!
After taking a peek at my hair, Franki took the time to educate me on the hair she would be using and why she was choosing her colors to order. We also talked about maintenance and what to expect in terms of after care and what future appointments would look like and how much I would be spending. I was blown away by the quality of hair and the quality of service I was getting for her price. Not to mention, the hair is reusable! SO AFFORDABLE & WORTH EVERY PENNY!
My schedule was crazy the next week and Franki was amazing and totally accommodated me on an evening that she normally didn’t work! Her assistant Jackie was also sweet enough to come in and like Franki; was also such a sweetheart! In 2 ½ hours Franki cut my natural hair, colored me, put in my extensions, cut them and styled me! I couldn’t believe it… With Keratin extensions I would have been in the chair for at least 4 hours alone and then would have had to wait 2 days before I could wash my hair or color it in order for the bonds to settle. So frustrating!
I left feeling like a supermodel with money still in the bank. I have to say, I am a Splash customer for life! Franki is a the best and her team totally follows suit! You will not be disappointed!

I would highly recommend Frankie for your hair extension needs, as she is by far THE BEST one out there! She is very sweet and personable and makes you feel at ease right away. She is very attentive, caring and a true professional at what she does. I always leave her looking and feeling like a million bucks. Frankie is a rare gem and i can guarantee once you have gotten your extensions done by her, you will become a loyal client of her’s forever as you will not find anybody as good as her out there!!!

I refuse to go anywhere! Absolutely LOVE Splash! Wonderful environment! Everyone is incredibly friendly and down to earth while maintaining a great level of professionalism.
I called last minute for a consult and they STILL accepted me to come in that day! Once I did, Franki and Shannon had hair that matched mine already there! I was sold! The quality of the hair they use for extensions is AAMMAAZZIINNGGG. I’ve always had all types of extensions, and by far these are the least damaging, the highest quality and the most natural looking. At first I thought it was pricy… but it’s actually an amazing deal. The ratchet extensions they sell at «high end» beauty supply stores last for maybe a week… and they cost anywhere from $ 175-​$ 250. Plus they are horrible for your hair… after buying multiple packs of that crap hair, you could’ve already paid for hair worth a damn like 7 times.
Splash uses hair that can last up to a year!!! They are very honest, and ensure you are completely ecstatic about your hair.
Shannon matched and colored my hair to perfection! Needless to say, I love Splash, and I will not be going anywhere else while living in San Diego!
AND, They have waxing available too! Nicki did my Brazilian AND brows in less than 20 minutes today. And everything looks clean and glorious.

I first called three salons to inquire about hair extenstions. Franki answered her phone live. Of the other two, only one returned a call a week later.
I met Franki at her new location in the Midway district. Super cute new salon. Franki is a fun, confident hair stylist. I immediately felt comfortable with her and her services. She said I was a perfect candidate for extensions and that I will «Rock» them! Boy was she right! Before I left her salon the day of my consultation, we ordered my new hair. I set up my highlight and extension «install» the following Friday.
I showed up for my appointment sooo excited to get my new hair and look! Frank did my highlights first and blew my hair dry. The color was perfect (much better than the prior stylist). Then she started installing my new hair. Total time was about 2 hours.
When I got home, my boyfriend noticed my new hair immediately and loves it! The next day, I met with girlfriends I had not seen in a while. They all fell in love with my new hair!
Day two — I washed my hair for the first time. My extension felt heavy but did not hurt or pull. Wahsed and used the new shampoo/​condinitioner. Brushed out my hair (bought a new extension brush) and then blew it dry. yes, it took longer than with my own hair…
On Monday — it’s time to go back to work. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair — it feels GREAT! ;)
Franki — thank you thank you for such OUTSTANDING work and the fun time I had in your chair on Friday. I’m looking forward to seeing you again in 6 weeks for my maintenance.

My job is in TV News and although I hate to admit it, my appearance is a huge part of my job… that’s why I am extremely particular when it comes to who takes care of my hair.
Franki is the best when it comes to hair extensions. She is skilled, and understands how to make your extensions look like they’re your own hair.
While she is an exceptional extension expert, THE BEST THERE IS… she is also skilled at other hair services, including cuts, color and highlights. She is amazing at what she does and I don’t trust anyone with my locks with the exception of Franki.
You will not regret going to her. She listens, and she is professional. Worth every cent. I recommend her highly…

While Franki is truly known for her outstanding extensions, her work is not limited to only extensions! I just received the BEST CUT AND PARTIAL HIGHLIGHT from her! My blond highlights are just what I wanted! She LISTENED and provided great recommendations. Then she PRODUCED exactly what we discussed. Perfection.
On top of her stellar work product, her prices are fair and she works quickly! Plus, she’s about the sweetest girl to sit an chat with. I can’t recommend Franki more!

Wow! What amazing service. I Text Franki on a Sunday morning when I was in the area on vacation. She text me back within 2 minutes and a couple of hours later I was sitting in her salon that she had opened especially for me. 1 hour later I had the hair of my dreams! I have worn extensions for 2 years (sewn in and micro locks) and this is definitely the best method by far — I can’t feel them in my head unlike when I had micro links and it hurt to put my head on the pillow and they are undetectable, also unlike my sew in as that always slipped within a few weeks.
Frankie’s service really is superb — and best thing I was in and out in an hour — no more 3 hours at the salon getting extensions! She is bubbly and friendly and the time flies by.
The only downside is that I wish I lived in San Diego instead of San Francisco so that so Frankie could be my regular stylist! Thanks so much!

I have been obsessed with my hair for as long as i can remember. The last time I had long hair was in middle school. I’ve always tried to let it grow just to discover that it’s a very slow process and it never looks the way I expect it to look.
I’ve tried different kinds of extensions over the last 7 years and have never been too happy with the results. I’ve had them glued in, sewn in, clipped in, you name it. They always felt bulky and didn’t really work well for my fine very straight hair. Not to mention that no matter how good the hair was it always got matted after a few washes/​wears.
I decided that I was sick of putting in my clip in extensions every day but wasn’t ready to give up the long hair that i had become so used to over the last 3 months. I started doing some research and thought that it was time to be a big girl and get good extensions. Internet searches on hair extensions is a difficult process, so many youtube videos on girls putting the in themselves, which was not something I was interested in doing.
To make a long story a little less long I did some searching on Unilocal and found the rave reviews for Franki and looked into the Dreamcatchers product in process a little before calling her to get an idea of pricing. I knew that this would be an investment (just too much money if you ask my husband and friends) but was surprised to find out that while the initial cost is more than I had been used to paying, the maintenance cost would be so much less because I can reuse the same hair for up to a year! I was sold and went in for my consultation and then a week or so later I was back to have them put in.
After an hour and a half or so I was ready to walk out with LONG beautiful hair. A week later it is still as soft and beautiful as they were the day they came out of the package. The time I spent in the chair went by in no time and conversation was easy and fun.
If anyone asks me who to see for extensions I will send them to Franki without hesitation.
