Green Field Paper Company® is one of the largest handmade paper companies in North America operating since 1992. Our signature papers are Grow A Note®, 100% recycled handmade seed embedded plantable paper, PaperEvolution®, handmade paper infused with recycled ingredients such as junk mail, garlic skins, coffee chaff, hemp clothing scraps or denim and our Hemp Heritage® machine made paper 25% hemp 75% postconsumer.

All of our papers are «tree free» in that no virgin tree pulp is used in the manufacturing. At our San Diego facility, we manufacture all of our handmade paper in an enviromentally friendly manner, reclaiming the water used in production and purchasing wind credit to offset our energy usage.

All of our papers are used in promotional pieces, invitations, announcements, greeting and note cards, hang tags etc. In addition, our Hemp Heritage® paper is also used for stationery, journals, drawing books and fine art papers.

History

Established in 1992.

Green Field Paper Company®, was originally named «Found Stuff Paper Works» as the founder, Jeff Lindenthal, would «find stuff» to make or infuse into paper. His passion was paper and recycling and was far ahead of his time manuffacturing and carrying only recycled papers including an organic cotton, a denim and Hemp Heritage® as well as the Grow A Note® and PaperEvolution® papers. He nows manages the recycling operation for Monterey county.

Acquired in 2005, the present owners streamlined manufacturing operations, added new products and designs and brought about a worldwide presence. Green Field Paper Company® products can be found at retail stores around the world.

I cannot begin to explain my awe and appreciation for Green Field Paper Company.
I took my first grade class here on a field trip today and from beginning to end, they were so welcoming to us. All of us marched into the back where we were greeted by the paper makers, who gave us an explanation of how paper is made in their facility. Then, they actually let my students poke, prod, and experience the gooey pre-​paper material in the large bin. Not only that, but they also let each student make their own paper!
We left so excited and giddy about our experience here.

This is the best local paper company in San Diego! Their products are super earth friendly and cute. I used them for my wedding invites and had a great experience! They were responsive, had great customer service, and their prices were reasonable for being located in SD and hand-​making their paper. The invites turned out so beautiful and unique!
This year for Christmas, I pulled a «Jasmine» and used their website to find Christmas cards I liked and went to the store to pick them up and save on shipping. They lady there pulled out a bunch of extra cards for me that weren’t on their site and I ended up going with one of those on their wildflower paper. Class-​act all the way around. People love the cards and I feel good that it was earth-​friendly and supports local businesses!

Coolest paper store ever. I’d say their signature items are the grow-​a-​note cards. They’re handmade right heeeer in San Diego and they have wildflower seeds in the card, so you can plant the paper and water it and sha-​bam flowers will grow! I just planted a sample paper a couple days ago and I’m excited to see it grow soon! At their store, they have a pretty wide selection of cards and other items, but their online store has even MORE cool cards, journals, paper and other goodies. If you are in the San Diego area here’s what I did, I went online and found some Christmas cards that I liked that they didn’t have in display at their store and I called them to see if they had it in the backroom and they did! So they had it waiting for me to pick up right away. Saved like $ 5 of shipping! The staff at the store are super friendly and helpful. One of the employees was the one to suggest going to their online store and then picking up there. And all I ordered was a 10-​pack of cards and they gave me an awesome bag made out of old newspapers to put it in.
Alsooo, they do custom orders for companies. I think I remember a coffee sleeve with mint seeds in it for some company. So they could plant the coffee cup holder and then eat the mint leaves that grow! So if you place a big enough order, they can make different items with your choice of seeds!
Christmas is coming up and this is a great place to get some cool cards while also being green!

AMAZING!!! My fiancé and I really wanted eco-​friendly paper (and not a lot of it) for our wedding invitations. We found Green Field through a Google search and are so happy we did! We were interested in their «all-​in-​one» invites and asked for a sample. It literally arrived the next day. That was just the first example of how quick they were to respond to our requests and inquiries. Every e-​mail we sent was returned immediately. The proofing process only took about two days and then they were off to the printer. Our invitations turned out perfectly and were well within our somewhat modest budget– we could not be happier! We highly recommend this company for anyone looking for «green» options and/​or great customer service!
