Nope. In my opinion, they’re rude and lazy. I’m taking my business for the apartment complex elsewhere.

Horrible experience. First visit for copying key. They said they can’t make copy because my key indicate that «do not duplicate». It was understandable. They said my landloard need approve to make copy so I contacted my landloard and got a letter saying I’m authorized to make copy. So when I went back with letter, they said they can’t make copy becuase they don’t have blank. Why did they make me go thru all the work if they can’t make copy anyway? Not professional at all.

Don’t hesitate to choose Grah. We had to replace two lock sets on our 45 year old front doors. The old ones left holes in odd places on the door. Moses gave us a quote after discussing all the pros and cons with us. We knew exactly what he could and couldn’t do and what condition our door would be in afterwards. He coordinated with our painter (Peek Brothers) and did exactly as promised. The price seemed high but we wanted it done right… and it was. Glad they were recommended to us!

Although we had some issues with the first instal, Grah made extra effort to make things right. The 2^nd tech (Josh) was courteous, knowledgeable and prompt. Overall, they really deliver!

I grabbed the wrong set of keys and realized this 1 second too late after the condo door shut, we were locked out. Grah was on the list of contact numbers for various services in the lobby of my building. I called around 830pm Friday night, quote was $ 280 to unlock the door, ridiculously high but he said he could do it for their normal weekday price of $ 180. I declined and we went and had dinner. I had a lot of work to finish that night though so I had to get back in that night rather than staying at a friend’s until my roommate would be back a day later. And because Grah was on the lobby list I figured they would be the best bet and that it would be too risky/​time consuming to research other options. That was my fault, as I should have.
I called Grah around 940pm to go ahead and open the door, and a rep arrived around 1020, reasonable. The guy was great and friendly, used a screwdriver type tool (maybe it was just a screwdriver) he hammered it into the lock, door was open and lock was fine, in and out within 5 minutes from lobby to my floor. So the service was fantastic and the timeliness was great for a Friday night. He also had another tool that would have done the job if the screwdriver tool didn’t, so he was well prepared.
The price I can’t decide, I’ve called around this morning and 3 other places are all quoting $ 80-​$ 110 for the same time of night on a weekend. But who knows if they’d actually open the lock without breaking it.
So whoever locks themselves out, do some quick research and call around, as $ 180 is definitely not a standard price even for after hours, especially not the $ 280.
Leaving 4 stars as I know quality service and experience costs money, but unsure if this service was actually higher quality than the other places that would have charged half the amount. First time I’ve ever locked myself out of something and hopefully the last.

$ 179 just to come down the street to the East Village tighten a deadbolt that they had previously installed. Ridiculous! My plumber didn’t even cost that much for labor, service fee and to fix a problem.

Grah, I will forever sing your praises! I live in a small condo complex. We have a locking dumpster and somehow over the years the numerous keys we once had had dwindled down to one last key. I tried many places including another locksmith but nobody could make me a copy. Grah did! Minimal charge ($ 5 ea)!

To Paul T. — I went to a home improvement store to get a key copied once. I had 10 copies of one key made and only half of them worked. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I needed a copy of a German key and was turned away by three locksmith shops who couldn’t do it. In fact, one of them even recommended Grah, which was able to make up a duplicate that worked. Friendly service, too.

Up front, I’ll state that I did not use Grah’s services. But I did get a quote from them to simply read re-​key my door at home. They quoted me $ 199 minimum charge for this routine, run-​of-​the-​mill, re-​keying of the door.
Frankly I couldn’t believe I was quoted this price. Instead I went with another licensed and bonded company that did it for $ 66.
I will say that the lady I spoke to on the phone was very courteous and he seem to be on top of things. It’s just unfortunate that they’re so expensive.

I needed my locks changed as soon as possible and they were able to come out the same day I called within a few hours. They are very professional and make you feel important and safe, Which is one of the main reasons of getting your locks changed, Right?! :D I would definately recommend using Grah for all your safe and lock needs and I will definately use them again and again.

Grah Safe and Lock has done several jobs for my condominium complex over the last several years. They are always prompt and very professional. We have had two emergency situations were we needed help immediately and they were able to respond very quickly. I have recommended them to our property manager for use at other complexs they manage.

They did show up on time, and had a courteous representative that set up the appointment. However, when the reps showed up, they balked at the older lock that needed to be replaced and took 2 – 3 minutes to complain about how difficult it would be to replace.
They said that the holes on the lock wouldn’t line up and that it would take a lot of work… and they quoted me over $ 300. They didn’t even bother to take the new lock out of the packaging to realize that the holes actually did generally line up.
Well, I had another appt about 20 minutes later with Busy Bee, and they quoted me under $ 100 and took care of it the same day.
I’m sure that Grah does good work, but they are apparently less friendly and very expensive.

Went in to get some keys made and possibly buy a safe for all of the love letters I never got to send to Bea Arthur, the cease and desist order I received from the band Mustache Sally and tickets to go see Christopher Cross live in concert New Years Eve 1999.
The people at Grah were extremely helpful, and I got my keys made super fast. Definitely would recommend.

I have some unusual high-​security locks on my house, and was only aware of one company in San Diego that could make keys for them. Unfortunately, their key machine broke and we were reduced to using the garage door opener to get into the house.
I was referred to Grah and called Dave Ferguson there. He said they didn’t make the keys, but asked me to send him a picture of the key and he would do some research.
I sent him the picture, but without much hope that I would ever hear from him again. After all, who is going to research the competition for someone who isn’t even a regular customer?
Well, Dave did — he tracked down a locksmith that can duplicate my keys. So while I can’t use Grah for this particular job, I will definitely use them whenever I can. Their customer service ethic is outstanding. Thanks Grah.

I got a key made here. They have a HUGE selection of safes. Definitely come here if you are looking for a safe.
No parking or maybe there are 2 – 3 spots on the side of the building.

I had a good experience with Grah Safe & Lock. The sales rep and installation technicians were helpful and very friendly. The work was performed quickly and professionally and I truly felt they had my best interests at heart.
The final price seemed a little steep, but then again I didn’t compare around much. Regardless, I’m satisfied with the outcome of their service and product.

I guess it’s unfair for the first review to be this bad, but based on my recent experience it’s well earned. Feel free to make your own judgment or go and have your own experience. This is the same review I put on Yahoo.
I recently bought a house and used Grah to put in new locks at the house. (A good idea for anyone once escrow closes). They came out, quoted me a price I agreed with and started to the work.
The work took a little longer than I thought it would, since the driver didn’t carry all the materials needed to install what he had offered. No worries. I have errands to run too. They called me and came back a few hours later.
The associate (whom I shall leave nameless) was nice enough. He was familiar with the company I work with, since we do some business with them (that is how I found them) and we know the same people at places I’ve Unilocaled about already.
8 days later, my house is broken into. The suspect cut through my outer steel security door and threw the deadbolt to get inside that door, then probably shouldered himself right into the house through the wooden front door.
When looking at the damage caused by the assailant and while repairs were being made (by another lock company) some things were brought to my attention. The screws used to put the plate for the deadbolt on the main wood door were only a half inch long. They were not screwed far enough into the frame. I had longer screws and a strike plate put in it’s place that grab into the house and not just some door shims. Additionally, the deadbolt on the steel door now requires a key on both sides. Both of these action make it significantly harder to break in through the front door.
At no time did the Grah associate offer, or ask, if I wanted a strike plate or something that would make the front door more secure. Since I had already agreed to the upgraded locks, I would think I would have been an easy mark to get sold on that additional material and labor. Additionally, he recommended a double acting lock on the back door but not for the front metal door. Of course, shame on me for not asking or thinking about it, but again, he’s the professional.
The day after the break-​in I went to their Hillcrest store. The associate that installed my locks was there and remembered me. He was still very friendly. I pulled out my camera and showed them all the damage and that I needed a double acting lock now for the metal door. After the initial ‘wow’s’ the associate noted, «I didn’t even think about putting a double acting lock there.»
The new lock cost twice as much as the old lock, since they told me that I could not just buy the half I needed. This was the only time I challenged the person at the counter, since the guy who installed my locks kept his distance once he knew the reason for my visit. I asked if there was any way to get half a lock or a break on the price, and he said no. It cost nealy $ 80 for the lock and another $ 20 to rekey the new lock to match the other locks they put in my house a week earlier.
I installed the lock my self. They charged me during the initial install nearly $ 100 an hour for labor and $ 50-​$ 60 just for showing up. Needless to say, I spent nearly $ 700 for 7 new locks/​doorknobs and that meant nothing and no discounts or apologies were offered when I visited their store needing a new lock.
Had the installer thought to put in longer screws on the main door or suggested a double acting lock for metal door, the break-​in could have been averted. Needless to say, I will never use Grah again for personal or professional reasons. I understand some of my disappointment is based on emotion, but a company that has no compassion for customers that have spent $ 1000s over the years is not a place for me to do business.
