Horrible experience. Staff is very rude. Specially the person at the front desk. Save yourself the unpleasant experience and go somewhere else.

In San Diego on business, had a contact lens stuck in my eye, walked in without an appointment. Staff was extremely welcoming and nice, Dr. Sneag had me out in 10 minutes, thanks so much!

Dr. Gary Sneag is the best there is, period! Don’t bother going anywhere else, our whole family has been going here since the late 80’s and they are still the best, period. Best staff, best equipment, best Doctors. Done!

I was very pleasantly surprised. I discovered Family Vision Care on ZOCDOC, they took my insurance and had an appointment available in a few days. So I went.
The treatment was professional and friendly, I waited only a few minutes to start my appointment. Both the technician and Dr. Langford that saw me were friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. All of their testing equipment is modern and high tech.
I ordered new glasses and I was really surprised because the total cost was less that I spent back east at my previous eye care facility.
They even fixed my old glasses while awaiting my new ones. Satisfied customer that will certainly return.

This has been due for a while. I intended to write a review for Dr Sneag and his practice the first day I went there first after reading awesome reviews on Unilocal,however, I was giving it time, so that I can go through the entire experience and write a comprehensive one, since when I am looking for an optometrist or a doctor, I like to see the reviews on Unilocal myself.
This is going to be a rather longish one, so if you’re looking for a short summary, just know that you will not be disappointed, go for Dr Sneag. He is awesome in more ways than I can tell you. He knows his job, and strives to give the best solution.
Starting with my first call to Family Vision Care, I was greeted and the person on phone, Liz and later Rina, were patient with me, they gave me time and understood exactly why I want to visit — I have a special eye disease called Keratoconus. They checked with the doctor and confirmed that Dr Sneag treats Keratoconus, and went ahead and scheduled an appointment for me. I requested for the last appointment of the day since I had office till 5 and they agreed. So far so good.
Before going to see the doctor, I sent over my medical reports, eye examination results to Rina, who promptly forwarded it all to Dr Sneag for study.
The lobby is nice, the entire office has a lot of awesome pictures of animals. The lobby has some games to keep kids involved. Dr Sneag greeted me at the lobby, and escorted me to his office room. He patiently reviewed my history, did a couple of tests to check the thickness of cornea. He showed and explained me the results and did a thorough examination of my eyes. It was decided that I would need RGP lenses and it needed special fitting.
The first day Dr Sneag tried a few lenses, and we did get a good fit on the first day itself, however, he ordered a few more, and called me back in a few days. Each time he examined the fit very carefully, put in a dye, examine it under special lights. He has indeed put in a lot of effort in getting the perfect fit for me. He also suggested that we will go for «plasma» treatment of the lenses so that it is more comfortable. We did hit the jackpot on the second session itself, thanks to Dr Sneag!
The only trouble I had was with my insurance. These lenses were medically necessary and they denied it the first time the claim was sent. I had to follow up and push for approval of the claim, but I have to admit, Dr Sneag’s office has been very kind and patient throughout the process. They helped me in all ways possible. I work during the weekdays and at one appointment, Dr Sneag even stretched his office hours to accommodate me after 5pm.
The day I got my lenses, Rina trained me on how to wear the lenses, get them out of my eyes, and how to care for and clean the lenses. She and Dr Sneag did give me some sample lens solutions, cleaning starter kit. When I was making the payment I had to, Rina saw that I have my eye glasses without a box and very promptly gave me their cover and an excellent lens cleaning cloth, I was ready to pay for it, but being the awesome people they are, she said that I don’t need to. My job needs me to move frequently and I asked the office for my reports and medical history, and Dr Sneag said that he will have everything ready on my next visit. I am sure they will wow me with the thoroughness. I am scheduled to see Dr Sneag again for a follow up in the next few days. RGP lenses are not so comfortable in the beginning, and I had to email Dr Sneag about it. He replied promptly and suggested an eye drop I should be using. All in all, a 5 star experience!

I love this office. They saw my kids for years, and now my whole family goes. Dr Sneag is knowledgeable and friendly. What I love most is that he has the necessary equipment to photograph the inside of my eyes (rather than dilate and draw their findings in my records). I like data driven approaches, and having that photo makes it easier to see if there have been any changes at all since the last visit. Besides, who wants to deal with their eyes being dilated for the rest of the afternoon. I highly recommend this office.

Dr. Sneag’s vision screenings at my daughter’s school caught a vision problem. Her teachers did not notice anything, nor did I and she passed the vision test at the pediatrician also.
Dr. Sneag and Dr. Langford have seen my family and are great!
Having an optical department right there makes life easy. So are Saturday appointment times!

I’ve been coming to Family Vision Care for a few years now. Either for regular check-​ups or for an eye problem they have always gone out of their way to provide the best service possible. Liz on the front desk handles appointments and queries seamlessly. Dr Langford is always friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. All the staff here are super-​helpful and I can’t recommend them enough.

Dr. Sneag fixed my difficult vision problem which other doctors are unable to identify.
My vision always tests ok. However my eyes get tired easily and have trouble seeing clearly in low light. I have been going to other doctors for years and no one figured out what was the problem.
With the regular eye exam (which was paid in full by VSP), Dr. Sneag correctly identified my problem. He also told me how the new prescription was going to help me. When I got the glasses, everything exactly matches what he told me and I can see clearly without getting tired even after long time.

Dr. Sneag has been our optometrist for several years. I am always impressed by the entire staff. They are clearly well trained, compassionate and happy in their job and it shows.

I highly recommend Dr. Langford and the rest of the staff at Family Vision! Every year around Comic Con, I wait until the last minute before remembering I want to get theatrical contact lenses for my zombie costume at The Walking Dead Escape. This year, I remembered to place the order, but any reputable online distributor will require that you have a consultation/​fitting with an optometrist and send in a prescription (regardless of whether the lenses are plano or prescription strength). So, I called Family Vision on Thursday, July 2 to see if they could fit me in last minute on Friday, July 3 — which was practically a holiday this year with lots of businesses closing for the 4^th. Luck was on my side and they had a cancellation!
I came in a few minutes early for my appointment and after signing in, I spent less than 5 minutes in my seat before someone came out for me. Since I also decided to get night driving glasses, I was first taken to get an eye screening in the dark room, then Dr. Langford was ready for me. She was so friendly and had a great bedside manner that I really appreciated. After reviewing my screening results, she gave me a quick exam with some demo contacts in to check how they were fitting my eyes. Dr. Langford wrote my prescription and showed me back to Rina, in the dispensary. Rina was also very sweet! She helped me sort out my VSP coverage and said my glasses would be ready when I came back in with my theatrical contacts to get fitted.
Everything went great and the staff was interested in seeing my creepy lenses when I tried them on! :)

This place is awesome! They have convenient hours if you work full time during the day and have a hard time leaving early (I work in a primary care clinic so I can never leave early). The office is very high tech with different sorts of machines, excellent testing! I was able to see a photo of the inside of my eyeball, very cool!!! Dr. Sneag is very intelligent and was able to explain everything about my crazy vision problems that I have never had answered before until this appointment! I was born with Amblyopia of the left eye and have refraction and am far sited… Now I understand everything about my condition. AND they offer the Unity type lenses with one that protects against technology screens (computer screens, smart phone screens, tablet screens, etc) which is what I have been looking for, for a long time. SO happy to finally get that! And I was able to have my lenses shipped to the location so that I don’t have to go glasses-​less for 2 weeks (depending on your insurance… mine was able to do that). I highly recommend this place.

Everything was amazing at the office. I was treated by Dr. Langford, and I have never understood my eyes better. She was super cool and explained my complex conditions in a simple manner for an everyday person to understand. She made me feel happy about the experience. Rina helped me pick out frames. She let me pick out 10 or so and picked out some herself according to my wants and needs. She gave me honest opinions along with my boyfriend to help me find the perfect frames, and I’m kind of indecisive when it comes to stuff that effects how I look everyday. She understood this completely, helping me narrow down to final 6, 5, 4, 3 pairs (you get the rest) until I finally found my perfect pair. I was completely satisfied with my service and will recommend!

New to the area and I’ve found an even better optometrist than I had before! I was running late due to traffic and they were very understanding. Their staff is extremely nice and welcoming; a very rare thing these days ! Dr Tan helped me ! She explained every part of the process and she was very fun to be around. Hope people will try this place out.

A few months ago I was planning to have an eye exam. Since I am covered under the VA Healthcare System for «just eye exams» I had to find a contact lens doctor which the VA does not provide or cover.
Anyway, I called Dr. Sneag’s office and his staff recommended I acquire VSP Insurance prior to the appointment, which I did in March. The monthly premium is low at $ 24 per month, but the benefits are tremendous. New lenses at half the cost, in my case anyway, plus additional discounts on the exam fees.
Dr. Sneag explained every step of the exam and what I would need to get my vision at ²⁰⁄₂₀.. He checked for glaucoma and other potential issues. I was fortunate to still have healthy eyes at 64 years of age. I”m just a bit nearsighted that’s all. I will have once a year eye exams from here on out with Dr. Sneag. His office personnel are the best!

This Dr is amazing! He explains everything very clearly, has great equipment. did you know a certain eye exam can tell if your diabetic… This is a Première clinic for VSP carriers. I got new glasses and they have their own lab, so I left with them today!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking such good care of the vision needs for my entire family. I love the security of knowing that we are being treated by knowledgeable, caring staff with the very latest technology. Thx again!
Btw, traci t– the «racism» lady– you say you «tell it like it is». I’d say you tell it like you «think» it is, because I don’t think you know. The office is the UN of different races!

I had a great experience with Dr. Sneag and staff. I didn’t have to wait long and they were quick and efficient without making me feel rushed. They answered all of my questions and explained everything they were doing. My only complaint is that all of the eye glass cabinets were sort of latched/​locked shut so I wasn’t able to try glasses on as quick as I would have liked. I was a little indecisive when it came to picking so I felt all over the place when trying them on… My fault not the office. The staff that did help me never rushed me once or made me feel rushed. They were patient and let me take my time even though I went back and forth trying to make my selection. Thanks Dr. Sneag and staff!

Racism at its worst.
I called last week and spoke to one of the staff members about coming in to buy a pair of sunglasses for my boyfriend for Christmas. I had some flexible spending dollars left over that needed to be used by the end of the year and she told me to come down anytime and if I saw something I liked I could purchase and walk out the door with the glasses just in time for Christmas.
Today I walked into the office hoping to have a very simple transaction that went horribly wrong. I went towards the glasses area to look at their selection and was stopped by a woman who said in a rather rude tone, «Can I help you?»
How about, «Hello, welcome!» Or «Hi there! How can I assist you?» I expected more from someone who’s occupation is «Director of First Impressions»… More Director of First Discriminations!
So after she looked me up and down like the minority piece of crap I apparently am, she told me I need to sign in and someone would accompany me to look at the glasses. I said thanks, but no thanks, I know exactly what I’m looking for and if I decide to purchase something I will. She argued with me again and I just complied, sign my first name and sat down as it would «only be a few minutes.» The DoFD comes out to ask me if I have insurance… What does insurance have to do with me buying a pair of sunglasses especially since I already told her I would be purchasing them with flex dollars.
15 minutes goes by and no one is helping me just giving me dirty looks and I decide to get up because there is a room right next to where I am sitting with a female worker shuffling about pretending to be working. I explain to her the same thing I explain to the Dir. of 1^st Discriminations and she starts to tell me it shouldn’t be a problem but then of course as soon as the DoFD’s gets wind of this she immediately backpedals.
I then ask to speak to a supervisor because I’m getting annoyed that it’s taking me this long to be able to just look at their sunglasses selection. So the doctor comes out and I tell him my goal of buying a pair of sunglasses from him even after all the trouble his incompetent assistant has already caused me and he says to me «People like you don’t understand.» (People like me? Mexican? Spanish? Czech?!) «I’ve been robbed 4 times and you just don’t get to go back there» so I say to him, yes with my Dior eyeglasses, Leather Coach bag, iPhone and car parked out front with visible plates I’ve come to rob you! How about this, take my bag, my keys, cash, ID, debit and credit cards while I look around and when and if I decide to by something I will wait to have someone assist me. Either you want my business or not! He says to me that «you don’t want to be on the cameras if something happens» and tells me I can either wait or they cannot help me“
So I say yes, I do want to be on the cameras if something happens. What better way to prove that I am not here to rip you off unlike «people like (me)» at this point I said forget it. I’m not a color I’m a person here to buy a pair of sunglasses. Clearly I’m not good enough or the right color for you to complete my transaction so I’m leaving and taking my business elsewhere.
No apology. No remorse. Racism at its worst. Please share this story about this poor excuse of a human being and his practice. We’re all people, and this isn’t the 1960’s. I and anyone else regardless of race should be allowed to purchase from any store they wish.

This team is excellent and highly recommended if you’re looking for an optometrist! I’ve never enjoyed the experience of having my eyes tested, but I always feel comfortable with the doctors at Family Vision Care.
I’ve seen Dr. Langford (she’s currently on maternity leave) and most recently Dr. Tan, who was incredible! They really take the time to understand your needs.
They have a great selection of contact lenses (for trials) and frames. Additionally, you can get an appointment very easily and the staff is friendly and courteous. I have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen.
