FeeLit is primarily a record store. Featuring thousands of vinyl records & cd’s, locally designed apparel for men and women, original hand-​made jewelry, and accessories. FeeLit offers original art & prints from local San Diego artists, a selection of unique books, and collectible vinyl/​plush art toys. With artist supplies and DJ gear also available, there is truly something for everyone at FeeLit!

History

Established in 2008.

«My vision for FeeLit was to create a communal space where local musicians, artists, and designers can promote their music, art, designs, & services.

FeeLit is a unique boutique, that has built a strong community. Over the past eight years, many great friendships have been formed at artist’s exhibitions, receptions, in-​store performances, and off-​site FeeLit sponsored events.

FeeLit is a hub for networking, promoting music, sharing art, and exchanging information about upcoming events in San Diego.

Business Owner

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Markalan moved to Pacific Beach in 1994. During his first four years in San Diego, he worked as a photographer for the United States Navy. Over the past decade, he’s been behind the bar or turntables in many of San Diego’s nightclubs, and venues. He’s shared his musical selections with Southern & Baja California, and also the Mayan Riviera. During these years, he could be found exchanging his time for vinyl at Groove Music and Siesta Records. «Listening to my father’s albums is when it all began. Flipping through the stacks, cleaning off the LP, placing the needle on the record, reading the lyrics, studying the artwork, and enjoying the rich analog sound. Sure, there were occasional pops & you might have to clean the record. You actually have to flip the record at the end of the side. It’s not a playlist or program on shuffle. Best place for hip hop records I’ve been to in sd.
There prices are awesome, and there selection is great. Every time I go there I walk out with at least 12 records. Staff is super helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I will continue to drive from San Marcos to San Diego to buy from them.

I loved this record store, the owner was very kind. Their collection is huge, the records are nice and you can find a lot of good stuff, just look for what you like. They have good promotions as well. I would definitely recommend this place to the people I know, it is like a hidden spot in downtown. Really cool store, it’s worth the trip. The owner know a lot about different types of music and he’s willing to talk to you. Go to this store.

Great hidden gem of a record shop in an area that is lacking anywhere to purchase music. The owner is always very helpful and willing to take the time to help you find what you’re looking and maybe what you didn’t know you wanted. Great selection from hip hop to funk and soul, rock and even jazz. New releases and cared for used vinyl. Wide selection of 45s and even cassette tapes too!

I found super rad deals on old dancehall & Blues records. & the guest musician & DJ events are amazing! Sold stuff & got good value from Mark on the sales too. These are the places you really want to support & see stick around in your community!

I’m usually digging for electronic records and I’m glad I stopped by here! The owner had a great selection of house, techno, and even acid tunes (which I was primarily looking for). There’s also a ton of hip hop, rock, disco, soundtracks, and everything in between. Finding electronic/​dance records at most record shops is usually pretty tough, but I was really happy with what I found here! Will definitely stop by here whenever I come down to SD. This place rocks!

If you’ve ever been to a record store where the clerks are jerks, this is the opposite of that place. Super friendly helpful awesome gem of a shop! Great selection for such a small footprint. I will make sure to visit this shop every time I’m in SD and can’t wait to make it back hopefully soon. Top notch spot run by awesome people.

Walked in, records wall to wall and a very cool «FeeLiT» steel sign is hung on the back wall. I found pretty much everything I was looking for and found a couple of gems as well. The owner Mark, was very cool, very helpful. I think I found my favorite record store in San Diego. I’ll be back and I suggest any vinyl heads out there to check it out!

Fantastic vinyl shop in SanDiego. Nice selection of used records-​some esoteric jazz and blues priced fairly. Owner Mark Hamilton is delightful and knowledgeable, willing to help make selections even from back room stock not yet inventoried. Found a dozen rare jazz albums on favorite labels. He boxed them nicely for shipping home. Post office literally right across the street sent by media mail for under $ 5. Can’t beat this place. I will surely be back next time in town. Thank you. Nice folks, but the store is tiny. Records are really difficult to search through. They didn’t have the selections I was looking for. I thought it was really limited and a bit overpriced for what they had, but it is in downtown San Diego, so I’m sure their overhead might be expensive. Would I return? Probably not. I really didn’t enjoy trying to search through the records with how they have it set up.

Nice little dig spot. If you’re in the area, pop your head in for a peek.
Although the shop is pretty small (read: if you blink you’ll miss it), it still manages to pack a behemoth of jams into it’s tiny space.
FeelLit is mostly older stuff. You’ll come across some more popular older titles but a lot of titles that sound familiar but may not be on the top of your list. Still, there is some good digging to be had and a few selections that can be added to any vinyl enthusiast’s collection.
If you’re looking for new tunes, keep hiking. I spotted a few relatively new albums but only after my paws were pretty muddy.
Prices are honestly a bit steep for the quality and variety of albums the place has but nothing outrageous.
Also, this place is a bit stanky. I thought I skunk died in here but it turned out… Well. Yuck. I’ve already said what I needed to say. If you’re like me and that kind of thing bothers you… You’ve been warned.
The dude working here seems to have caught some of that stank because he wasn’t anywhere to be seen the entire time I was waddling around that place.
Parking is metered on the street. When I came later on a weekday afternoon I had some issues finding a spot.

Such a great local spot. The owner is a super rad guy, and if you’re lucky like I was he will sell you some albums from his personal collection! Super knowledgeable & easy to chat with. The selection is also great ranging from everything you don’t want to everything you need. You also get 10% off your first time. Couldn’t be better. Love.

FeeLit has a great selection of music, and I was super excited with my purchase of cassettes, but when I tried them out only 2 out of the 5 cassettes worked. The three that didn’t work were old cassettes, so it makes sense that they weren’t in the best condition. Overall, it was a good experience hitting up a local music shop.

San Diego’s hidden gem for records. On one hand, I’m glad that not everyone knows about it, but on the other, this is a shop that needs more recognition. Mark is one hell of a shop owner. He is also someone who deserves to run a record shop. It’s more personal in this place. Do yourself a favor and spend some of your cash here. You owe it to yourself.

This is a very special spot– It’s rare that you have a business that’s run as much out of the love for something as it is as a business. One of the best vinyl stores I’ve been to this side of the east coast (my personal bar being set by the legendary Skippy Whites in Cambridge, Mass)!Outstanding selection, low prices and an incredibly knowledgable owner, FeeLit is the kind of place you go into looking for a specific record and end up leaving with 10 more that you hadn’t remembered in years. Mark also has a great selection of cool, locally sourced apparel and neat used sound equipment. Take your time here; treasures lie both hidden and in plain view. Swing by and buy a record or two– Local, truly independent businesses like this are a rarity today, and this is a good place to start if you haven’t supported one yet. The décor is phenomenal as well– Album art abounds here, and it’s worth a trip just to have a look at the cool walls. HIGHLY recommended.

By far the best record store in San Diego. The owner and operator Mark was awesome and passionate about records and music in general. He gave great recommendations and talked about how the record industry is on the rise and was just very positive.
For the past few days I went to 4 other record shops in town and this one felt like home. I picked up some Kid Koala, Billy Joel, a Pavement 45, Talib Kweli, Mary Wells, and a few more. All easily filed away and conveniently found.
THIS is a what a record shop should be like. SHOP HERE, SHOP HERE, SHOP HERE! Thanks for keeping it alive San Diego!
