Extended Stay America – San Diego – Hotel Circle

I think 2 stars is fair when comparing it to most other hotels. When we arrived we had no trouble checking in/​getting our keys. The elevator sounded a little scary, but we were successful in making our way down the smoke scented halls to our room.
The room itself was decently clean (well used, but clean) and spacious considering they fit a full-​sized fridge, stove and micro with cabinetry. I was disappointed to see that there was no coffee maker inside the room though.
Your normal amenities at a hotel are lacking: shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, ice bucket, pool
To be clear: THERE IS NO BREAKFAST. There is a countertop with coffee, oranges, granola bars and small pre packaged muffins … It leaves a lot to be desired & prepared for.
To be honest. I was a little creeped out the first few nights. This place is not in the nicest area… I feel like a hotel next door is safer. There were only a few tenants and the halls are dark and lonely– I was afraid to leave my room alone.
By Saturday night more tenants arrived and it felt more like a hotel.
The service was fine. When we needed something we asked and got it. I didn’t like getting advertisements shoved under my door every night though! Oh! How could I forget… You can hear every neighbor’s door close LOUD AND CLEAR.

The hotel reeks of smoke. It made our stay here a lot less enjoyable. The staff was very unresponsive and seemed to be moody the whole time. They do offer breakfast but it’s just a couple of muffins and some granola bars. The plus side was that the room came with a decent kitchen including microwave, fridge and sink but no dish washer. They have spacious closets but didn’t have any hangers. The wifi was free but pretty slow. In terms of size of the room I would rate it about 3 stars but the customer service and the smell of the whole place makes it a 2.

Checked in on the 13^th of February, after coming from a 6 hour drive we entered the hotel to find a very nice hotel staff worker that helped us get checked in, the hotel guests were VERY loud and VERY obnoxious. We made our way to the floor our room was on the find the entire floor wreaked of Marijuana. We walked towards our room with people chugging bottles of alcohol right next to our room in the hall way. Also Our room was smelt like cigarettes when it was a none smoking room. Our bathroom had cigarette burns on the counter tops. Needless to say, I was not going to stay at this hotel. I checked out after 45 minutes of being there and being able to thankfully find another hotel. I have never experienced an extended stay hotel like This. The guy that checked us out at the front desk was very nice and apologetic. We ended up going to the Marriott Marquis right on the bay. What a significant difference!!!

I have stayed at many ESA hotels and never been so very disappointed. I arrived at the Hotel at 05:30 am to find out my room was not available, when I finally got my room 2:30 pm the entire second floor reeked of pot. A lot of the residents were very loud at night and the night staff did not care to help. The only good points were Lucy the girl at the front desk (daytime) and when I checked out.

I gave them a 1 due to the free coffee and muffins in lobby. This place was very dissapointing. We made reservations months in advance for a NON smoking room. Upon arrival, which was only 2 hours after check in time, we were told there were no non smoking rooms. Kidding me… what a joke. After receiving the smoking room we went upstairs to the room and were over whelmed with the stench of cigarette Oder on the floor. Carpet was disgusting, didnt have any more coffee makers for guests. The whole stay was forgettable. We have stayed at other extended stay locations with much better results. Would not recommend this place.

This is a horrible place. With in 20 minutes of getting in to my room I was visited by a cockroach wanting to use the phone.

This hotel is not a two star and barely a one star. Beware of a deal too good to be true on Priceline people. First, the hotel is in hotel circle next door to a dilapidated building. Two, they gave us a room that stank of cigarettes even though I told the desk clerk I didn’t ask for a smoking room but I guess In this tawdry Twilight Zone world you need to request non-​smoking.
Three, the hotel’s guests seemed more like prison inmates then vacationers as I could smell marijuana in the hallway. Four, the breakfast isn’t a breakfast. It is a coffee station with granola bars. So all in all the worst stay in a long time. I will not be booking with Priceline after this or staying at Extended Stay Americas.

Not worth the cost AT ALL. out dated. No coffee pots in room. Service not that great. Carpets were terrible. Breakfast cost was astronomical and not even that good …

this hotel is by the far the most difficult place to book a room at. it took just over 14 min on the phone to reserve the room and then another 5 min online to confirm the reservation. calling the front desk is no help, and they can’t guarantee anything.
standard check in time is 3pm. do i look like a vampire?
i’ll be staying somewhere else and telling people to avoid this one like the ebola virus.

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE — There are SO many choices of hotels at Hotel Circle. This should be avoided. The property could/​should be great — but the management has turned it into a long term welfare hotel. The long term residents camp out in the lobby and can’t be avoided during your stay. Management ignores this. Cars were vandalized in the parking lot overnight. Lots of traffic all night long at this property. Doors propped open to allow «friends» to stop by and hang. I generally enjoy the extended stay america properties — this particular property has just been over-​run by a seedy element. There are so many other choices /​same price in this area of San Diego — I would suggest looking elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs and it was pretty decent. If there were a few things that could be improved, it would be the amount of grass areas available for dogs, maybe a pool and extended breakfast hours. It was a little weird that when you need kitchen items, you have to phone it in since we’ve stayed at other places that have kitchenettes and they were readily available in your cabinets. It was pretty quiet for us and even though there were other dogs staying at the hotel as well, we couldn’t hear them. There was free parking and wi-​fi but my husband said the wi-​fi was a bit slow (IDK, I don’t really care about wi-​fi). All in all, we would stay here again.

I give this place a 5 star for the customer service frond desk friendly when ever I needed them for anything towels, dishes etc. they were at the door in minutes also print out documents several times no problem! I can’t give the hotel a five dirty air filter in bathroom it’s humid in the room and bathroom not enough ventilation very stuffy! It’s extremely pet friendly but I wonder if the floors are clean???

My wife and I stayed here for a few days due to our house being flooded. The few days that we were here was a positive one. The room was very clean and the staff were helpful. I wish we stayed here after Comic-​Con but ended up at the one in Fashion Valley. Please read our review for that one.

The hallways smelled horrible, a mix of all the cooking smells. The fridge had no door handle, it had been broken off I guess. Staff was friendly but didn’t always answer the desk phone and took foreverrrrrrr to bring anything up to the room. The fan in the bathroom was so loud it was soooo annoying and you can’t turn it off– connected to the light. So while we would be getting ready, my husband and I couldn’t say one word to each other without coming all the way out to talk. Location was decent but overall it’s worth it to pay $ 10-​$ 20 more and go elsewhere.

Worth every penny. Not as upscale as nearby hotels, but not as over-​priced either. If you are like us and don’t plan to spend your time in San Diego in your room, but really as a place to rest at night, this motel is perfect. Free parking (if the lot isn’t full on weekend nights) is a huge bonus. Parking in the area is either non-​extent in the area or costly. Only problem we had was a balky A/​C unit. They responded to my notification almost immediately and now it seems to working. Contrary to some reviews train noise was not a problem, nor were thin walls or bugs. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. No coffee makers nor hair dryers as amenities at this low end of the price spectrum, though asking got us a hair dryer. Didn’t as about coffee makers. Would definitely stay here again.

Location is quite good, having a kitchenette helps, ample and free parking, well lighted area and feels safe. Wifi is slow unless you upgrade. Housekeeping happens only once per week unless you pay extra. Beds are okay and the front desk folks are very helpful.
Now the negatives — breakfast is a joke. most you can get is free coffee. Rooms on second and third floor are not maintained properly. Do not expect to be using the kitchenette. .hardly anything that you can use for cooking… some of the rooms smell of cigarette smoke. Expensive if you look at the ameneties provided.

The good: Free, ample parking. Decent Feather pillows. Kitchenettes available in some units. Coin operated Laundry on-​site. Somewhat updated décor.
The bad: Towels that literally feel as rough as sandpaper, giant cockroaches in the room!!, a stinky A/​C that leaves a mildew smell, and the ventilation systems must be connected because we could smell pot smoke in our bathroom on more than a few occasions.
