Horrible experience!!! I was looking forward to get my daughters ear pierce. When I went in I was told that they only work with appointments. The next appointment available was in 3 WEEKS. Ok I took the appointment. A day prior from my appointment, I got a call saying that they wanted me to go to the PB location. Why would I drive all the way to PB when I live 5 min from the Adams shop. I told them that didn’t work for me. So, I was told that someone else would take care of me. On my appointment date I went in and the guy told me that I need to choose the earnings. I told him I had my own. Well he said that they can’t use my 14k gold earings. First he showed me some $ 80 dlls ones, and I told I wanted the cheapest ones since I had mines already. The cheapest was $ 60 DLL!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Then how much would everything come out to??? $ 60 plus the service. Some crazy shit!

I’ve been here twice and I will definitely be coming back for any other future piercings. I was so scared to get my piercings, but they talked me through it and calmed me down and made sure I was comfortable. They take the time to make sure everything is clean and they explain the entire process to you. Even though they are a little pricey, the experience there definitely made it worth it. They are extremely helpful in explaining everything that you need to know and what to do to make sure that your piercing heals well. This is my favorite piercing shop and I recommend it to everyone who asks me where to get theirs done. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Didn’t buy the jewelry so I couldn’t tell you the quality but everything looked very well made. James was SUPPPPERRRRR helpful. He took the time to answer all of my questions. Even though I didn’t buy a thing he was kind. Very clean. Very small. Professional.

Just got my septum pierced. It was a great experience from start to finish. James helped me select my jewelry-​he was so knowledgeable and helpful! Jared, who is currently an apprentice, was awesome. Seriously, I was so impressed – I intend to request Jared for future jobs. This is a high quality shop with an amazing selection of jewelry. Best shop in San Diego.

Super friendly and patient staff. Great explanations of the step by step processes. Their selection of jewelry is extensive. On a very crowded saturday they worked through efficiently, professionally and with just the right amount of enthusiasm. Great job!

This place is beyond amazing!
Evan is the man. I recently moved to the San Diego area and decided to give this place a shot when I wanted my nose pierced. I have now been back several times for multiple jewelry changes. The really do have the best jewelry and will switch it out for you if you have any problems. Everyone there is super nice and very willing to help!

These guys are awesome! Super friendly for starters. I went in to get my nose ring removed because it had started heal over the seam and I couldn’t get it out. I was pretty scared to go because I thought it was going to be super painful. It wasn’t though! He got it removed with zero pain and putting in the new one was minimal pain! Highly recommend these guys. They use the best jewelry brands too!

I went in today right at opening to get my upper ear cartilage pierced. The place was clean and there was a lot of jewelry to look at. The person at the front was very nice and explained everything to my mom and me.
Evan pierced my ear and he explained the process in detail. He was very nice and the whole experience was comfortable.
First, he cleaned my ear and then made a mark where he thought the piecing would look good and asked me what I thought. I said it looked fine and he had me lie down. The actual piercing didn’t hurt at all for me, but I have a decently high pain tolerance.
Overall, my experience with Enigma was great. I would highly recommend anyone to this place!

This is my third time visiting Enigma!
My first experience was awesome! It was recommended by a friend for me to go here. Although it may seem pricey, about 50 – 60 for my cartilage earring, I see why. I can tell that they properly sterilize and clean down the whole room. All of the employees are very kind, accommodating, and professional. Best service ever!
My second time, I got a double cartilage. It was beautiful! Unfortunately the impact of two earrings right next to each other on my ear was too much for my little ear to handle so I went back to get the swollen bottom piercing checked out. They kindly took it out, adjusted to rod to a longer one for the other earring, and charged me nothing. I went back a couple months later and got it repierced for free as well! So kind, cleanly, and willing to help out with any complications that happen. It was also my fault for not sleeping on it correctly… Oops!
Thank enigma! Highly recommend and it’s worth the money.

Love this place! I’ve never had any piercings done, excluding my ears when I was a baby, and this was a great experience! It was all done spontaneously and the man at the front desk was very kind and patient with me because I was indecisive about whether to get my septum pierced or not. Anyways, I decided to and the wait time was good. 7 minutes to get everything cleaned and sterilized and Mark was the one who ended up being my piercer.
Mark was very friendly and professional; he walked me through everything he did and make the whole experience very calming since I was super nervous. The piercing itself was alright. The pain wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be but there was definitely some pain– like a very strong pinch. It was fast and easy! The pricing was great as well! $ 25 for the piercing plus it depends on what jewelry you get (starting at $ 20). The pricing was a lot better than other places I’ve been to where it would be $ 75+. I ended up paying $ 55 with $ 5 tip!
All in all, I would definitely recommend!

I’m about a month or so late on this review. But anyway…
Personally, This was my first experience ever getting an ear piercing, or just a piercing in general. I must say it was not as bad as I thought it would be. They walked me through the steps of what would happen and showed what after-​care I would have to do. All in all, it was a really pleasant.
I had to wait around 25 – 30 minutes before I was brought into the back to have my ear pierced. But after I was in the back it only took about 10 minutes altogether. He explained the process, showed me what he was going to use, and how it was going to be done. Inserted the piercings for me and was fun to chit-​chat with as we went through the whole process.
All in all, i’ll definitely be coming back to them and asking for the same person.
Other than that, I would say to come prepared to look for parking. That was probably the only hardest thing to find. hehehe…

I am so happy with my two new piercings!!! I got my girls pierced on Wednesday and I couldn’t be happier! Let me just say a few things
1. My friends and I Walked in and were helped immediately by a friendly guy who answered all my questions.
2. The place was super clean and had a very nice/​large display of jewelry.
3. I had wanted to see EVAN and only EVAN. He is great with his hands!!! My piercings are perfectly even and it didn’t even hurt. I am only on my second day and I’ve had no bleeding or anything and they don’t even hurt to the touch! Maybe I’m just tough? Lol
4. As far as price it was expensive but I’ve never been one to care about prices as long as I get an amazing service.
5. I will be back in 6 weeks for my check up/​down size and I can’t wait !!!

I had my nostril pierced elsewhere on the word of a friend that did not heal after a few months. I popped into Enigma on a Saturday afternoon and spoke with the man working behind the counter. He advised that we switch out the jewelry, showed me my options, and had me sit tight.
I was brought back about 20 minutes later and received the best customer service I could have hoped for. The man working that day was quick, talked me through the process, and let me be a baby. He gave me the greatest care instructions and sent me on my way. I spent about $ 45 for the jewelry and to have it replaced.
Within 24 hours the giant bump I had next to my piercing had practically disappeared. I should have followed my instinct and gone to Enigma for my piercing in the first place. Lesson learned!

Adam was my piercing professional.
I was very very nervous and he kept his cool every step of the way. I paid $ 45 for a septum pricing, $ 25 for the procedure and $ 20 for the retainer ring. My best friend and I both went and both got the same piercing. The shop was clean, welcoming and comfortable. No bad attitudes at this shop. The man behind the counter and Adam were both very knowledgable, honest and helpful. I don’t live in San Diego, I live 2 hours away, and I would drive the distance to be pierced here again. Adam walked me through the entire procedure, reminded me to breathe, and made sure I could take a selfie before he flipped the ring up.

It isn’t every day you come across a review with a solid 5-​star rating. You may be a bit skeptical as I was, but I must say, I completely agree with the many others here, and believe Enigma rightfully deserves those 5 stars.
Only 1 experience (heard about them through Avalon where my husband has had some great work done), and it was to piece my 5 m/​o daughter’s ears. Evan is the main (only?) man to do this, and he gets booked pretty far out (2 months for me)!
Yes, it does hurt (have you ever had your ears pierced?). No, I do not think it is cruel. Yes, I think it is a statement of beauty to be able to wear jewelry. Yes, I felt bad when she cried (cried, did not scream), but so glad when she calmed down quickly due to the professional job that Evan did.
Evan was wonderful with her, and is extremely particular in placement and hygienic practices. He marks the spot with ink, then waits for you to check the placement to proceed. He uses a needle (vs a gun, which I supported), and was very efficient. Evan, he has a good sole. He only does young infants once a week, because it is rather emotional event for everyone involved. He also understands and is very patient and accommodating on how you act/​treat you and your baby during the process. Ex: I asked if I could have a few minutes to nurse my daughter when he was finished to calm her down (this has worked after shots), and he completely understood, and there was no rush. That kindness made all the difference in our experience!
We are a week out, and her ears look great. No redness, definitely no bleeding, and they are healing beautifully. We purchased the sterile saline solution for $ 10 there, as it was convenient and it is a spray, so easy to use on a squirmy child.
I must be transparent and say that Enigma is at the top of the cost spectrum for piercing. Oddly, the service is a steal ($ 25!), but the jewerly is where they make their profit. Just FYI.

NOSE PIERCE BABY !!! (or maybe not?)
I’ve had this place bookmarked for quite some time. I’ve always wanted a nose pierce. Just a teenie tiny piercing (like Christina Aguilera in her prime). Hehe. Something subtle and I was on a mission to get it done. but I still had some doubts and fears.

Spontaneous Saturday afternoon and I was in the area. I finally stopped by here. Place looked sketchy, but aren’t most tattoo and piercing places like that ??? Besides, Unilocal named them the BEST in San Diego with so many RAVE reviews. How could I go wrong ?
Got a good parking spot right in front. Good sign #1.
I walked in and not busy at all. I was the only customer ! Good sign #2.
The actual owner was there and was very informative. He answered all my questions and concerns. Good sign #3.
You would think that I would FINALLY get a nose pierce, but you know that little voice inside your head ?? It’s the devil I tell you. Well, it said «DON’T DOOOO IIIIIT !!!»
Crap. So I opted for two piercings on my left helix and another one on my right lobe. I know I’m lame, but hey at least I got some piercings done. Not a waste of a trip !
Two assistants helped me pick the jewelry and it was top of the line. Super pricey though. I had to fill out a liability form and I was on my way.
Mark was great with the piercings. Totally made me feel comfortable and at ease. Like everyone said, it is very sanitary and they are strict about that. I was taken to a room where they had me sit down. Mark had gloves on, sanitized my ears, and made some markings on where I wanted the piercings to go. The whole process took less than 5 minutes ! I thought the helix piercing would hurt like a mug, but it was only a quick pinch. Not as bad as I thought !
Afterwards, he gave me some sea salt and cleaning care instructions. Overall, it was money well-​spent. I’d do it again !
Update: It’s been about a month since then and no bad news to report. It’s healing nicely and I’m ready to go back and change the jewelry piece ! Enigma did not disappoint and I highly recommend them for long-​time customers and noobs such as myself.

I went in yesterday to get my nose pierced. Not gonna lie, I was freaking out on the inside, but I tried to be cool about it. I am such a baby when it comes to pain, but I can honestly say it wasn’t too bad. On a scale of 1 – 10, 10 being the worst, I’d say it was a 3 – 4. Having your wisdoms pulled is MUCH worse!
When I walked in, there wasn’t anyone waiting, the two guys greeted me. I feel bad, I don’t remember the guy who rung me up, but my piercer’s name was Evan. I waited a little while for the tools and all that to get sanitized, then Evan called me into the back room. He wore gloves and a mask, and cleaned my nose with surgical soap. He placed the dot on asked me if I liked the placement, I did and he proceeded with the process.
He put a cloth over my eyes so I couldn’t see what was happening, which was great! It was way less pressure on me. Before he did it, he pressed the dull side of the needle inside my nose to show me what the pressure would feel like, then asked me to inhale through my nose and exhale through my mouth and before I knew it, it was over! I was surprised, Evan did an amazing job!
He went over aftercare and they gave me a free bag of salt for the nose soaking (cleaning method), I payed and I was on my merry way! Thanks Enigma! You guys do a great job! I will be back!

Clean with a lot of jewelry to choose from. I came here for my belly piercing for the 6^th time!
Unfortunately since my body rejects the ring — it was going to do the same the 6^th time around and he couldnt pierce it.
Its ok, hes not the first to tell me that.
He said he would pierce it if i really wanted to but its ok.
I always thought the reason for the rejection of the ring was because i have a big belly — i mean its not flat like other sexy chicks. Its just the body doesnt want a ring in it.
THe guys in the shop were nice and honest :)

I have stepped foot in plenty of tattoo and piercing shops since I myself am a former piercer, I know exactly what to expect.
Angie was my piercer for the night. She was nice and the wait was about 30 minutes long with one person ahead of me. The shop is clean and small. Angie did everything correct from set up procedure to glove disposal. I’m really anal about procedures when it comes to cross contamination. My piercing choice of the night. The septum.
I requested for a 16g but it wasn’t allowed so I just went ahead with the bigger 14g which means more pain for me.
Angie sat me up, cleaned my nostril and marked. Lay down on the table bed and onto the piercing! Fresh out the autoclave sterilized hallow needle. How exciting… Not. Deep breath in and then out. Needle goes in to the receiving tube but at the end I felt a huge tug from getting the needle off the jewelry it was connected to. Ouch but I can deal with pain so it wasn’t too bad. After about one minute it was over. Titanium internally threaded horse shoe in my nostril. Personally I think my septum piercing is too high and the jewelry is too small to be seen. But I guess I’ll just wait and see till I can change it out in a couple months.
When you leave make sure to take back your ID that they ask for it when you first come in. When you leave you will be handed an aftercare sheet and a prepackaged small baggy of sea salt.

UPDATE* has been two days since my piercing and the bar is so tight on my nostrils I can’t bare with the discomfort. The balls on my jewelry are pushed into the bottom of my nose and I have to tuck it just for it to not bother me. I will be coming back in a week to change it if it is still bothering me.
