Dylan Point Loma Apartments

Terrible follow up communication. Didn’t get the feeling that the leasing consultant was remotely interested in giving me a tour. I expected the wall paint, flooring, and fixtures in the townhome to be more high-​end for the price they command in rent. The community sticks out in what seems like a laid back neighborhood, and I thought it was strange that it backs up to a 7-​Eleven. Seemed like the manager was giving me the run around during the approval process, so I applied at another community and was approved on the spot. Overpriced and fake, in summary.

Yep, it’s only a matter of time before this place is just like one of the thousands — yes, thousands of apartments in this area — filled with tenants that come and go monthly and yearly, trashing the apartments and the owners will get tired of shoveling puke from the driveways from the college parties, replacing carpeting and paint from dogs locked indoors all day. I live a couple blocks away at a 540 unit complex. This place is surrounded by other dump complexes with no where for anyone to park if they visit, dozens of homeless looking over fences, in trash cans, sleeping in doorways and making your carport their toilet. Welcome to the neighborhood! Haha — and this place is asking apartment prices starting at over $ 2400/​month. Hilarious. Hey, but the upside is that your complex backs up to a great Mexican fast food place and also ⁷⁄₁₁ — plus there are the thousands of us other tenants living within range to ignore your car alarm when you get broken into or backed into, side swiped or hit dead-​on. PS: the photo is of shopping cart man’s stuff that has been there longer than construction took. Shopping cart man spends his day in Starbucks using the free wifi on his (stolen?) laptop and smartphone, but his cart lives at Dylan Apartments as you can see:). I think they’ll call the authorities on shopping cart man now that I posted this… But worry not for shopping cart man cause the homeless around here can be told to move along but they always come back for the fancy apartment living.

Way overpriced! I live nearby and my rent is $ 1300 for a nice place. More reason that San Diego needs rent control to avoid letting these greedy mega corporations from jacking up rents beyond what people can afford. I’m hoping these stay empty and they are forced to lower rents back to normal.
Average wage here is 55k so who can afford 3k for an apartment? I’d buy a home first.

I suffered a year listening to the noisy construction behind my place and then was amazed when the greedy developer wanted obnoxious way above market rates for an apartment! They want 2−3x what all the other apartment complexes in the area charge for rent! This gives reason why San Diego really needs a rent control in place right now! How can someone afford almost 3k for an apartment is beyond me? You can easily buy a much nicer condo or townhome for that these clowns charge in rent! Hope the units stay vacant and the greedy corporation lowers rents. As Gail P mentioned, it would have been better to have the money used for a nice park. The traffic is way bad already in the area and this will make it much worse. So if you want to pay 3k for an apartment and have homeless camping out front, go for it! I will save my cash and use the pool at my apartment and gym and pay ½ the rate.

Its crazy! Over 2,000 for 1 bdrm, Over 3,000 for 2bdrm and over 3500 for 3 bedroom, this is a perfect example have needing to have rent control in San Diego, I understand that this is first large new complex in Point loma but thats ridiculous pricing. I hope they either lower the rents after they sit open for first few months. Now don’t get me wrong I’m sure they will have great amenities and interiors but you gotta be real!
