Prosthodontics.. A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in implant, esthetic and reconstructive dentistry, treats complex cosmetic cases and full mouth reconstructions.

Prosthodontics is a recognized American Dental Association specialty of dentistry. Prosthodontists complete three years of additional formal training in an accredited residency training program after the required four years of dental school.

Prosthodontists can perform numerous procedures on patients, including but not limited to, general dentistry, dental implants, esthetic dentistry, reconstructive dentistry, full mouth reconstruction, restorative dentistry, crowns, bridges, dentures, partial dentures, inlays, onlays, and veneers.

Our history is short yet sweet. Knowing we wanted to provide the best dentistry available in a kind and caring environment, we set out to fullfill our dream. In 2005 we found the right location, the right team members and the right attitude to accomplish our goal.

Business Owner

Dr. Grillo obtained his dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. He then completed a one year general practice dental residency in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1994 to 1996, he trained at the specialty post graduate training program in Prosthodntics at UCLA School of Dentistry and in1997 he earned a certificate in the subspecialty of Maxillofacial Rehabilitation.

He had the privilege of working in a multi-​specialty dental group until 2005 when he founded his private specialty office.

Dr. Grillo spends his extracurricular time with his wife and children and when time allows snowboarding, mountain biking, and following automobile racing.

I am so, so relieved to have found Dr. Grillo and his team. I’ve had crowns on my front teeth since breaking them as a young teen. I went through 4 different, good dentists in the next twenty-​ish years who did their best to keep my smile looking good, but I had a chronic problem with crowns coming loose and (ick) leaking. Finally I found Dr. Grillo. He explained that my crowns were just a very tricky fit, but was confident that he could fix the problem.
From the very first exam, I noticed just how incredibly thorough and detail oriented Dr. Grillo is. He definitely takes his time and makes sure everything is exactly right – aesthetically as well as functionally. My crowns look amazing and the fit is PERFECT. I have had zero problems, and they look natural and beautiful. I now visit his office for regular cleanings, and his hygienist is the best I’ve ever had visits with. Everyone in the office is friendly and caring.
You do pay more for world-​class care, but it’s absolutely worth it to have it done right the first time. Thank you, Dr. Grillo!

Dr. Grillo and his staff are the friendliest, best serving staff I have ever been to as a customer. I had a severe implant injury and both my front teeth #8 and #9 needed replacement. I have a long history with procedures to these teeth and I have been to military dentists and dozens of civilian dentists for opinions. The receptionist at this office is amazing and as friendly as they get, and Dr. Grillo is highly professional, a perfectionist and a skilled prosthodontist. I was uninsured and the office went above and beyond their responsibilities by arguing and explaining my situation with a victims insurance fun to cut the cost of my 16,000 procedure down to about 7,500. My teeth look better than they ever have and after spending about 30 hours in the chair there I can honestly say this is your best option in San Diego County. If you want your work done right the first time, and a good experience in the office you should come here. If you like rework, mistakes and bad referrals, there are plenty of other offices you could try out.

Dr. Grillo has saved my husbands smile. After a botched job by a horrible dentist, my husband found Dr. Grillo and Thank God he did. He’s patient, he knows my husbands fear of the dentist due to his horrible experience and the staff knows how to deal with my husband. They are patient, yet stern when they need to be as my husband likes to cancel his appointments due to his fear of the dentist. They’ve transformed and continue to transform his smile. My husband highly recommends!

Dr Grillo and his staff provided the best care I have ever received! Dr. Grillo explains every step before hand on the procedure that is required. He explains other options that you may have. He takes his time and is meticulous, explains what he’s doing from beginning to end. The equipment is high tech advancement that gives him the ability to see beyond the surface. He leaves nothing to chance as to cause problems at a later date. The staff is warm and friendly and sets you at ease. Going to the dentist, for some is not easy. I’m no exception. No laughing gas needed… Dr. Grillo and his staff have a sense of humor, helping to reduce the anxiety some of us have sitting in the dentist chair… by the way which is quite comfortable, while you watch T.V. I was referred to Dr. Grillo due to some bridge work I had done by another dentist, twice because it kept cracking. The other dentist wanted to try it a 3rd time, saying it was my bite. by this time I was stressed and frustrated and needed a specialist to complete the work. Dr. Grillo did it once. I actually drive from Mission Beach to see Dr. Grillo. WHY? Because there are some people that are craftsmen/​women… artist in their profession, paying attention to detail and precision, Dr. Grillo is that rare breed. Plus the beautiful, serene décor makes me believe I just left the spa. I highly recommend Dr. Grillo. Easy to get too, plenty of parking. Plus Dr. Grillo does look a bit like Adam Levine from the Voice.

I actually did fall asleep during a crown! That’s because all my work has been painless. Dr. G and his staff are meticulous, everything fits well and looks great, and it’s a very comfortable environment.

Dr Grillo was recommended by a coworker so I went to them for a cleaning and consultation for large amount of restorative work I know I need. I’ve been dealing with teeth problems my whole life which come from my mom’s genes and an accident I had when I was young.
Anyway, the staff here is very friendly and I got a great cleaning. Then we did a comprehensive work up of what I need to have done and the cost. I knew I was going to a specialist for prosthodontics so it wouldn’t be cheap, but the cost was extremely high comparative to other estimates I have. The work he recommended was the same as what I had been consulted on by a prior specialist I was working with at one of the nation’s best practices located in Boston. But just before we were going to begin, I moved to San Diego for a new job. I trusted what Dr Grillo wanted to do was right and he was very detailed, but my previous dental practice worked with their patients much better financially. And so does the practice I’m at now. This practice requires you to front 100% of the cost at each visit, instead of you paying your portion and then they get the balance from your insurance carrier, like most others places. Their idea of working with you in terms of payment is to recommend CareCredit which carries interest rates higher than my credit cards. Dr Grillo probably delivers amazing results but he is not for the budget conscious.

Dr. Grillo was recommended by a friend. I was perfectly satisfied with my dentist, who I thought was «the best dentist in town.» I agreed to visit Dr. Grillo, once and to only receive a cleaning. By the time I left his office, I knew my previous dentist was history. The office is professional and extremely personal. I appreciate being able to get in and out on time, the complex provides plenty of parking. Dr. Grillo explains what and why he doing each procedure. He is meticulous, yet practical and innovative. His techniques are cutting edge and his equipment, state of the art. What I most enjoy is how he explains all the pros and cons so I can make an informed decision. Did I mention each exam room has cable TV, with your own remote? Initially, I thought the television was there to distract me from any procedures to be performed. His injections are painless. My visits are so relaxing, I fall asleep. Therefore, cable access is purely for my entertainment. I’ve been going to him for 2 years now. Dr. Miguel Grillo is my new «best dentist in town.» You won’t be disappointed. Tell him I sent you.
