Nice family owned restaurant that serves Chinese and Japanese food. As long as you set the right expectations you will find this place to be ok, but if you come here and expect REAL sushi than this is NOT the place to come. You are better off at Kula.
Family of 4, We ordered Singapore Noodle, 2x Spider Roll, Eel Roll, Dragon Roll, Super Crunchy Roll and Squid Kaarage.
* Singapore Noodle to too bland, portion was enough for 2
* Spider Rolls were just ok, too much rice
* Eel Roll was too fishy
* Super Crunchy Roll was approved by the kids
* Dragon Roll, Nibans is better
* Squid Kaarage, you can do without
Nice to try something new. But it’s not worth the drive from 4S.

i usually get the salmon skin roll (think salmon bacon) and spanish roll (cali roll with salmon on top) that comes with a lemon-​y soy sauce and cilantro on top.
they also have a good sushi protein roll (lots of fish wrapped in cucumber and sauce).

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! It is so delicious and the employees. Or owners are super sweet and definitely take good care of you. The food comes in good portions for a great price. This will always be one of my favorite and go to spots. They also make your food pretty quick. I have zero co plates and will continue to be a regular here.

I came here and dined in on my lunch since I work in the area now. (And I’m socially awkward and try to avoid small talk in the breakroom.) The ladies were very sweet. I ordered the California hand roll ($ 3) and a beef teriyaki lunch bowl ($ 5.50). The roll was good, pretty basic. The beef bowl wasn’t my thing. I’m more of a savory person and the sauce was on the sweeter side. One thing I love is sauce from my entrée to be all over my steamed rice, but the sauce was just too sweet I couldn’t finish my rice and I looove rice. Which was a bummer. I will say that I will give this place another chance. I’ll try ordering something else though next time.

I really enjoy coming here to eat. Everyone is friendly and makes you feel welcome…

They’re always so friendly here and the food is great. They’re quick at getting orders out which is great for lunch hour and they have lunch specials 7 days a week.

I recently started working in this area and of course I needed to start scoping out some places for lunch. Of course I Unilocaled around and came across Domo.
Located in a really small and extremely tight strip mall, it’s one of the many places to eat in this corner lot. Parking here is insanity! You have to be fast to react, as there are pedestrians, cars in, out, and parked making maneuvering and dining here extremely difficult. I’ve only done Togo orders and driven through when there is absolutely no parking. If you can get here before noon, it’s highly recommended!
Domo has the lunch time rush as you can see from my picture, there are at least 5 of us, waiting to order or picking up food. The hostess/​owner is fast. Don’t be offended by her abrupt and harsh manner. (Typically how Chinese owners run a business… They don’t mess around! Reminiscent of my parents restaurant long ago… Lol) Anyways, don’t get butt hurt. She’s got orders to take and you know you don’t want to wait for your order either so have your order ready! Have cash handy for a small lunch order. She’ll only process credit card transactions over $ 10.
I’ve tried a few things here…
1. Mongolian chicken (white onion only) over rice… Not spicy, Amazing! Get it!
2. Pot stickers (pork)…Almost like my mom’s, needs more filing, but delicious!
3. Chicken karaage… Pass on these. Bland lil chicken tenders.
Overall great lunch place when you need something quick (minus the time to find parking). My favorite part… it’s Chinese and Japanese food in one place!

For a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall, it’s worth the visit! Being from the east coast we had been searching for some Chinese food and finally found what we were looking for here! Portions were generous, food was fresh, and nothing was too heavy. I think we got two more meals put of our leftovers. We had general tsao chicken, lo mein, and fried rice.

All of these restaurants are family owed and you are treated like family. When I get take out she gives me tea to wait. There’s not many places that you go these days where you feel so comfortable. The food is wonderful, and we love that you can get Chinese food AND sushi!

I went there on a lunch break and the server was friendly and helpful. She recommended the tiger role which I ended up ordering. It was very tasty however later on that day I ended up getting a huge headache and becoming very nauseous. I finished off my training for my new job feeling horrible. I rushed home and began throwing up for the rest of the night between the times I wasn’t sleeping. That was the first time I ever had food poisoning and it was not a great experience.

The food at Domo is incredible, but it is the staff here that really shines. Upon walking in, I was greeted by who I presume was the management/​owners (an elderly couple) who were so incredibly kind, that just for them alone I will return. I have been craving sushi for a few weeks now, and as is my usual thing walking into a new place, I asked them what their favorite dish was. They both instantly agreed on the sake roll.
While I waited they brought me a free appetizer of dumplings and tempura shrimp that were both positively outstanding. The sake roll was an incredible collision of flavors that I cannot recommend enough, and the Hamachi was fresh and firm.
This place shouldn’t be underestimated. Try it now!

All-​in-​all it was a good stop. A friend and I were craving some sushi in the area, and Domo popped up. We didn’t have much time, so we shared a Crunchy Roll… and I ordered two pieces of Maguro. It was satisfactory. I’ll be back to try more of the menu. Friendly service was a plus.

I had a wonderful experience at Domo tonight!
First off my boyfriend and I were warmly greeted by the owners. They were so kind and extremely inviting.
We ordered an eel handroll, dragon roll, veggie roll and Szechuan eggplant. It was nice having both sushi and Chinese food for when we would like something substantial and hot.
My boyfriend always judges a sushi joint by their eel handroll and he said it was on point. Lots of eel and very flavorful– same with the dragon roll.
I had the veggie roll, lots of crunch and it was wrapped in soy paper! I love soy paper! very tasty for a veggie roll. I like that there was an abundance of different veggies in it rather than just cucumber, or just avocado, and only $ 3.50!!! Awesome!
Our favorite of the night was surprisingly the eggplant dish! It was a large portion with lots of veggie mixed in! The eggplant was SUPER tender, extremely flavorful and had a nice punch of spicyness to it. We LOVED it! The rice soaked up all the yummy sauce and we were in heaven. The owner was so nice to add some rice with our left overs to make a lunch box for the next day. Such a kind gesture that was greatly appreciated! Service was Great! Food was on point! We will be back! Thank you Domo for exceeding our expectations as first timers!

This is a great restaurant to frequent if you’re in the area. 50% off cut rolls and 30% off special rolls during lunch. I was basic and got a California roll for $ 3. It was good and fresh. I also ordered the Kung Pao chicken. It wasn’t my favorite dish; the sauce was overwhelming, there weren’t enough peanuts, and it was greasy. I’ll come back to check out their other sushi rolls though!
The restaurant wasn’t busy on the Thursday I went, but parking was a little tough so beware.

Decent sushi. Service is friendly and fast. I did not realize this was my second visit here so my first trip was not bad but also not spectacular. The spicey rainbow is good. Sashimi is not bad also. Overall, it is your average sushi place also serving Chinese food.

I stopped by Domo Kitchen for dinner after visiting a local car dealer, and I ordered the Garlic Salt and Spicy Wings, a Tekka Maki, and a Salmon Cut Roll all to be washed down with some hot green tea.
First the wings, which were not particularly spicy, unless I piled on some of the chopped jalapenos and red pepper mixed that came a top the wings, but they were full of great flavor. They may of not had much heat, but they sure had a great spicy pepper, garlic, and salty flavor. The meat inside was piping hot, very moist, and tender. Simply put, they were very well prepared. 4 stars…
The Tekka Maki roll was good. It came with a generous amount of tuna, which tasted good, but the roll was haphazardly put together. I appreciated the high tuna ratio to rice in the roll. 3 stars.
The Salmon Cut Roll could of been better. Not only was it even more haphazardly put together then the tuna roll, but the salmon was not very flavorful. It did not provide that rich oily buttery texture and tasted flat. 2 stars.
The hot green tea was typical and good. Service was decent and friendly. Using the law of averages, I am going to settle for three even stars. Those wings were super and I recommend those.

Wow, I was so surprised to have been subject to such bad, inattentive, slow, an unapologetic service in a long time! First off, it took over 10 minutes before a server dropped off menus and asked if I wanted anything to drink, and if I would be ordering sushi, or just Chinese food.
Secondly, there were only 2 sushi chefs, 1 server, and 1 cashier working the dining room. I ordered (2) items, their Domo Pan Fried Noodles with beef, chicken, & shrimp, and an order of their Tiger Roll. Needless to say, one of the sushi chefs was the one to take my order and not the lone server.
It was over 20 minutes before I walked up to the sushi bar to ask how long before I received my Tiger Roll. That sushi chef said he’ll make it right then. Really? 20 minutes later and you’ve yet to start preparing it. I then asked our server where my Pan Fried Noodles were. She said they were cooking it! 30 minutes later. My food finally came but I was so upset, it really didn’t matter at that point. They have to know that during the lunch rush on a weekday, customers only have so long to grab a bite and get back to work.
I have to mention that I had to fetch my own chopsticks, napkins, small plate, to-​go containers, and fortune cookie. I don’t know what my tip left would’ve been for, the service was so bad.
I don’t know how the other reviews for this place could have been so high. It may have been a rare exception as to why it was so bad on the day I ate there. I can’t really say if I’d be brave enough to return to be honest with you…

I must say that I was surprised by the quality and portion size of this place. I didn’t have the highest expectations, but the Szechuan special with chicken, pork, shrimp and beef was really tasty. It wasn’t spicy, but had a lot of flavor. I’m proud to report that the sauce wasn’t overly cornstarchy either.
I also had the sweet and sour pork. Unlike other versions I’ve tried, it wasn’t tough or overcooked. There was also an ample amount of pineapple to go around.
I’ll add this to the mix of Clairemont/​Convoy/​Kearny Mesa restaurants to try again.

I tend to come for their great lunch specials (teriyaki chicken is soooo good). They have a variety of sushi as well, I am not a big sushi fan but i have ordered some from here and loved it!

For Americanized Chinese food, this was, surprisingly, quite a good eating experience. The quality was all the more surprising considering that the place seemingly panders to the sort of crowd who wouldn’t think twice about visiting a place that serves both lo mein and sushi. By that I mean, the whitest of white people.
The sauce on the Szechuan whatever-​it-​was was great although what it wasn’t was authentic. Likewise I have no complaints about the sweet and sour pork, which, as one might surmise, was both sweet *and* sour. Success.
Summary: Domo arigatou.
