Dee’s Newbreak Coffee and Cafe

I love Dee’s Newbreak Coffee and Café! The Mykonos Bagel is absolutely amazing. This is a place that I bring all my guests for breakfast.

Really quaint café with delicious acai bowls– the acai and fruit was good quality with yummy crunchy granola!

I’m a breakfast lover and I’m always looking to try breakfast in new places. This place has a great menu and caters towards the health conscious and the athlete — of which I am both. I had the frittata which was delicious, came to my table quickly, and the coffee was delicious. The atmosphere is nice with good conversation from the locals and the staff is friendly.

We came in this morning and ordered 3 bagel sandwiches, a pancake burrito and the tropical delight acai bowl with a screamin banana frappé and 4 coffees. First off, the service was awesome all the way around. My daughter loved her pancake burrito. She was nice enough to give me one, count em one, bite and i can see why she was so stingy! The pancake with the syrup was amazing. All of my guys liked their sandwiches too. They actually toast their bagels unlike the donut shop next door who we have never received a toasted bun from even though we ask every time. My acai bowl was fantastic and huge! We will definitely be back for our regular Saturday morning staff meal. Thank you guys!

Im not sure why some local businesses advertise free wifi when it doesn’t even work. Whats the point of setting up wireless internet, if its of no use to anyone. They would be better off saving their customers the frustration, or paying a kid from the local high school 15 $ to fix it.

Every single time I’m in San Diego I stop here! BEST ACAI BOWL EVER!!! Literally so impressed every time. Monkey Bowl with extra granola you guys do it right! Thank you! They have amazing sandwiches and vegetarian options as well as protein pancakes :) try it out!!!

This place is delicious. The coffee, the open face bagels with cheese, eggs, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, more cheese, the acai bowls, and everything else is delicious. We came here every day for breakfast during our stay in San Diego.

At daybreak I stumbled upon Newbreak on my way to the beach. I actually went to the other location but just ordered a coffee… which tasted like burnt cardboard. And no, I’ve never eaten burnt cardboard, but if I had the taste would have been comparable. After enjoying the relatively desolate beach for a few hours, I fled the scene just in time to avoid hordes of people. Walking back to my car I stumbled upon Dee’s Newbreak, not even realizing it was basically the same restaurant I had ordered the coffee at earlier in the day.
This location was much more quaint and therefore less crowded. The lady who took my order was not the kindest, nor was she rude… just somewhat standoffish. I was excited to order a «healthy wrap» that comes with a side of fruit. Everyone knows that melons are the filler fruit of sides, and the side was small… and full of melon. The wrap seemed relatively healthy and was pretty tasty. I like the chipotle sauce because it was actually spicy; I love spicy and am 90% of the time disappointed by the hot factor of «spicy» food. At first the spinachness of the tortilla was reasonably tasty, but the more I ate the more unpleasant it was. I was being strategic in choosing to eat the half of the wrap on the bottom first. Of course after somewhat enjoying that half, I pick up the other that was more filled and I thought would be better, and the wrap literally did not have a bottom — so everything fell out. I do not know what mistreatment the tortilla received during the wrap’s assembly, but the abuser clearly placed the wrap in such a way to disguise his crime.
Despite that last ridiculous over exaggeration, the food was pretty good. I would not explicitly suggest the café to a friend or foe because I feel like there are better eateries around OB. Although I have yet to find amazing food at this beach… Anyways, the food was definitely… okay.

I love this cute little coffee and café. The food is great. Wonderful smoothies selections and coffee choices. Better than Starbucks. The staff is always friendly. Grab a table and get some work done, or take a drink to go and walk along the beach. People watching in OB is always fun.

Just moved to OB and am pleased to find this café with great breakfast, lunch, and amazing coffee. It’s both a good thing and bad thing that I live walking distance from this place. I’ve only brewed my own coffee twice this past week since moving here, and I think my coffee maker is going to retire. Move over Starbucks, there’s better coffee at Newbreak.

Best café in OB! Acai bowl for days and really good coffee. It’s got a hippy vibe and a handful of hardcore regulars. The perfect beach side café however it is smaller than the Abbot street location and a little grungy. But that makes it so cool. There is limited outdoor seating on the sidewalk and street parking

They have a huge yellow and red sign that says french toast and pancakes in the window. they also have a huge neon sign that says breakfast all day inside the restaurant and when I asked for french toast guess what happened?

Great location, nice atmosphere. Food is okay but beware they microwave in Tupperware and smoothies are softened in microwaved plastic bags. Update: received message from owner, Dee. She brought it to my attention that I was rolling her store and the Sunset Cliffs store into one. To clarify, I have personally seen the microwaved eggs and smoothies at Sunset a Cliffs. Dee states that although they do microwave some breakfast sandwiches, sometimes they don’t need to microwave the smoothies in plastic bags.

Weak coffee. Ordered their signature breakfast sandwich and it tasted bland and rubbery as if microwaved? And a bagel toasted with butter, and bagel was warm as if put in a toaster but not at all toasted — ie still white (If I put a steak on a grill for 30 seconds is it cooked?). Oh and when I got home and unwrapped the bagel a fly flew out of the wrapper.
I’m new to the neighborhood and have them 2 chances… Very friendly staff. It’s definitely their priority. I go to restaurants for good food as the priority, if friendly people that’s a nice bonus, but not going to bury the lack of care about the quality of the food…

I come here 2 – 3 times a week. Sunrise sandwich and Acai bowls are my fav! The customer service is very friendly too. And I love their Mexican mochas…

Worst customer service, cancelled my smoothie got my money back and got a yummy smoothie next door at Rancho’s instead. I will no longer give this place my business. Great job on losing a customer today. In fact you just lost 5 because my office orders breakfast and lunch from here and thanks to the crappy attitude from the girl working there today none of us will be spending our money here.
Sorry Dee! You might want to sit down with your staff and go over customer service.

Get the Newbreak Croissant for breakfast. It’s amazing. Coffee is great. Hubby’s sunrise sandwich is good too.

I really want to like this place I gave them a second chance I got the French toast it was awful :(so dry and hard I could barley eat it I also got a mocha which was so/​so ! Last time I got a rice and veggie bowl which was good but overall I’m disappointed.

Loved the Tropical Acai Bowl. Nice, quiet atmosphere and friendly service. I’ll be back to try more of those bowls!
