Found Daniel and his services on Unilocal,of course. Called and made an appointment. I wanted to go short with my hair. I had long hair down my mid-​back. He suggested I come in earlier for a consultation before I cut it. Done!
I made it to my appointment. Didn’t have to wait. He was ready to roll. We went through the motions of the consultation. I actually wanted a pixie type haircut but being that I’m a lazy person when it comes to styling my hair in the mornings, he suggested maybe keeping it a little longer than a pixie. That was fine with me cause I had some pictures I showed him that I liked if not a pixie cut. So he worked his magic and we talked about football and fantasy football. Then before I knew it, I came out with a magnificent A-​line bob cut. I loved it and I still love it!
The one major thing I was terrified about when wanting to get my hair short was finding a stylist who can actually cut it right and I can walk out happy. And I found that in Daniel. Unfortunately, he’s moving to LA very soon so I’m sad. If need be, I will make the trip to see him in LA for my haircuts. =)

AMAZING!
Moved to SD from Sweden in March and had a huge problem to find a good hairdresser here in SD since I am really picky about my hair. But my boyfriend (who is even more picky than me) found Daniel here on Unilocal and now we are both going to him.
He is super professional, affordable and always takes good care of your hair. My hair is everything to me and I am so glad I could find someone who I can trust and feel comfortable with. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Great haircut but pricey at $ 65.

This is the only cut I’ve ever had that is perfect. Daniel is a true artist and it showed. I had many compliments on my hair including my mom who almost never likes my haircut.
There was also no waiting and the staff was very helpful. Great job.

If you are looking for a good haircut, go to Daniel. He was amazing. I’ve been getting my haircut by the same lady in the bay area for years and hadn’t found someone I trusted enough in San Diego. I have super long hair and everytime i go to someone new, i’m left only slightly satisfied and half the time feel like they didn’t listen to me.
I’m super picky about my hair and had the best experience with Daniel. Not only did he listen to me, he made the best suggestions and made my hair look and feel better than I thought it even could. Definitely book your next appointment here!

Daniel has been cutting my curly hair and my sister’s extra curly hair for the past 4 – 5 years now. He is a perfectionist and has been trained by one of the best: (Mark Dearinger). I first met Daniel at Dearinger. Mark was unavailable and I told him that I really needed someone that knows how to cut curly hair. He recommended Daniel and my sister and I have been very happy with him ever since! It is hard to find someone that really knows how to cut curly hair and Daniel is definitely the man!

Daniel is the most amazing stylist! I really only trust Daniel to cut my hair. I have loved every single haircut that I have gotten from him and he has been cutting my hair since 2004!
Unfortunately, I don’t live in SD anymore but whenever I fly back, I always make sure to stop by to see Daniel to make my hair look good!

I’ve been a long time customer of Daniel’s for over six years now. He knows exactly how I like my hair cut and every time he talks to me in regards to if I would like to change it or keep it similar to the last time. I hate it when you go to a place and the staff just figures they know what you want and that you were 100% satisfied with the cut they previously gave you; Daniel isn’t one of those! Each and every time he listens and really thrives to give you the best hair cut in San Diego. His shampoos are amazing and he doesn’t try to sell you something at less he truly believes you need it. I am so happy and relieved that Daniel has moved back to San Diego. When he left for Boston, I was terrified the few times I forced myself to have my hair cut (and unhappy with the results whenever I did).
I made an appointment right away when I learned he was back in SD and at Cut Hairdressing in Bankers Hill. Daniel is a perfectionist and refuses to let me leave until both he and I are happy with the cut. There have been times that I thought he was finished, was ready to hop out of my seat, and he pulled his shears back out to cut that extra 1/​16″ of an inch he felt would make the cut perfect and precise.
If you want a professional stylist who listens to his clients, pays attention to your hair’s wants and needs, and takes his time to make your cut look absolutely amazing then Daniel is the one to see.
It feels great knowing that everytime I have my hair cut, whether it be a simple trim or a completely new style, I am going to walk away 100% satisfied.

Whoa!!! My favorite stylist has his own Unilocal page!!! Yay, I’m a fan! If theirs one thing I like about Daniel, it’s his take on haircuts. I’m a hair stylist at another hair salon in San Diego and I strictly come to him for haircuts. The girls at the hair salon I work at are the best, don’t get me wrong. It’s just I do this for a living so I need results and not another stylist practicing the latest trending haircuts on me.

Daniel’s been cutting my hair for awhile now. When he left for Boston last year my hair follicles were left distraught.
To their excitement, Daniel has made it back to San Diego and is now located at Cut Hairdressing! Needless to say, my hair is getting the men’s cut its in dire need of because the ever so attentive Daniel Ngo is the best hair dresser in San Diego.
Whether its a long hair cut, or a short hair cut, Daniel knows how to handle all situations. I can’t say I’ve had a hair coloring by Daniel, but I’ve seen the stuff he’s done to women’s hair and its top notch.
He used to work at Dearinger’s when he was in San Diego and I’d have to say we’re glad to have such a great hair stylist back. I’ll be booking again soon and often.

OK so I read all these great review about Daniel and thought I would try him. So I went to Phillipostyle and HE NO LONGER WORKS THERE! They wouldn’t tell me where he went. So I mad the mistake of just letting Phillipo do my color. HE WAS HORRIBLE. I knew exactly what I wanted and knew exactly how to explain it. And he was convinced that he knew what I wanted better than I did. I wanted my natural dirty brown color with some bright blond highlights. It ended up looking orange. WORST COLOR EVER. Then he said that he wanted to give me a «special style» because it was a Saturday night. At the end of that I looked like FRANKENSTEINS BRIDE! And to top it all off, when i when home and washed my hair myself I had CLUMPS OF HAIR FALLING OUT! He had literally put his bleach on the strands of my hair that were already bleached and they just melted off!!!
WORST COLOR OF MY LIFE.

Like I said in my quick tip, all my girls know this: Daniel is the best hair colorist! He’s fantastic with haircuts also and knows exactly what he is doing! He’s careful and does everything with a smile on his face. He is THAT «hair stylist» that I would recommend and call you back to tell you that «I TOLD YOU SO!»

Been too so many other hair salons and I always end up back with Daniel @ Phillpostyle Hair Salon. He cuts my hair monthly and I get my hair colored every other month. One of the top hair colorist in the city no doubt.

Allow me to preface this with stating that I hate wasting money on my hair. I really do… I’m what they call frugal and my friends are known to call me cheap. But some things are worth the price, and Daniel at Phillpostyle hair salon is unquestionably one of them. He’s extremely professional, hilarious, and you will leave feeling remarkable. His best attribute is hair color skills, his hair highlights look naturally sun bleached!

Not a regular at this hair salon, but when I have a «special occasion» that is important, this is my hair salon. Got a date? «Phillipostyle Hair Salon», A wedding to attend to? «Phillipostyle Hair Salon». A night out with the girls? «Phillipostyle Hair Salon».
Daniel has a knick knack with hair and its apparent once you take a seat in his chair. It’s always good to have a back up hair colorist that won’t let you down and that is what Daniel has been for me. I go to a hair extensions specialist that also cuts and color hair. I just use her for the hair extensions and go to Daniel for color and fabulous hair cuts. ;)

I woke up this morning with the need to try a new hairdresser. A quick search on Unilocal led me to Daniel. I figured that he was «Hot on Unilocal» so I wanted to give him a shot at earning my loyalty. Arriving at the salon during traffic hour isn’t the best time to go, this hair salon was extremely busy on a Friday.
The haircut was exactly how I wanted it to come out. What I liked best about my haircut was it looked like I didn’t spend anytime on it, but sexy at the same time.
I wish I could give him 5 stars because I just showered and it still looks great. I’ll update after my next visit with Daniel, I have a brazilian blowout booked with him in the upcoming week. Can’t wait! Have heard so many great things about the brazilian blowout.
Pros: Flawless haircut, classy facility, friendly hairstylists and terrific hair products that actually work. They make their own shampoo!
Cons: Parking and seems understaffed for a hair salon especially for Friday.

Daniel is my go to colorist at this hair salon. I’m a fan of his use of hair color and haircuts.
He’s the only hair colorist that never damaged my hair texture. «Hair color doesn’t have to damage your hair,» he says and he should know.
After using a few distinct colors on me, I was in in love with the color of my hair. All I wanted to do was go out with my girls and flaunt my gorgeous new color.
I know this type of attitude may be inappropriate, but I swear, try Daniel and you will feel compelled to do the exact same.

Daniel has now moved to Boston, you girls are so lucky to have him in Boston. I still get my haircuts from him when he comes down to San Diego to visit his family. Not as frequently as I would like, but it’s still better than nothing. You might think i’m a little crazy but once you get a haircut by Daniel you’ll know why I wait for him. I think i’m the lucky few in San Diego that still get their haircuts by him, besides a few of my girlfriends. Anyhow give me a call when your in town again Daniel.

So, my best test for a haircut (besides it looking outstanding) is that, when I get home. I don’t need to get out the scissors and finish the haircut myself.
I’m super OCD about my haircuts and, if it isn’t specifically how I want it, I will without a doubt chop away at it, typically leading to me going back to another hair salon and getting it fixed. It’s been a harsh, strenuous cycle which, has finally been shattered by the amazing Daniel.
Another test is obviously, is whether I can style my hair making it look as wonderful as when I left the hair salon. You know what? I can!
Daniel knew precisely how to cut my hair without me even actually having the ability to articulate the things I wanted. He also showed me how to style my unmanageable hair. Without a doubt I will be back.
