Consignment Classics

For Starters, they are rude. Secondly, they’re overpriced. Yesterday, we located a dresser at Consignment Classics on Kurtz (the business that Frank is the owner of) that we wanted to purchase. There was no «hold» or «sold» tag on the piece. We approached Tuan asking, «How much is the dresser?» Tuan said, «I will find out.» Juan then walked to another gentleman and spoke. The other gentleman then got on the phone. Shortly after, I approach Tuan again and said, «How much is the dresser? We want to purchase it regardless of price.» Tuan disregarded our question and continued helping others. The man Tuan had spoken with (Joey) return and informed us that «another man has already spoken for that item but you’re more than glad to leave your name and number and we’ll give you a call if he doesn’t take it.» We asked, Why wasn’t there a «hold» tag filled out as we always do when buying at this location. «The seller consigning the piece was unreachable and once she confirms the price we will sell it.» Joey replied. Obviously Consignment Classics had an agreement with this other guy to give him first option at their best MCM pieces.
Long story short, Andre (Part-​Owner) of Klassik was «the other guy» that Consignment Classics sold the dresser to today. Andre purchased a $ 10,000 RARE Paul McCobb Planner Group 20 Drawer Dresser in Natural for $ 375!!! He then had the nerve to offer it to us for $ 4,500 today! Don’t do business with Klassik or Consignment Classics! They’re both dirty Dogs and they took advantage of me because I’m young and they have no sense of ethics!!! Obviously they are greasing each others palms, and I hope the seller of that dresser sees this demanding her compensation/​split of the resale these guys take from it’s new owners.
Frank the owner of Consignment Classics simply called us, «sore losers,» and our conversation initiated by ourselves mind you, «Went just as expected.»
It’s sad to see that these types of businesses remain open in California of all places! I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, and NEVER have I been so taken advantage of! Consignment Classics will receive no more MCM client or other suggests from us in the future, and I hope this helps sway all you youngsters away. If you like MCM, don’t stop here unless you want the items that Andre at Klassik has passed on.

I recently decided to help my friend find some tea cups for a bridal shower and was lucky to stumble to this great spot. It was hard to just stay focus on just tea party items because there was so much stuff to look at. I found several items that I would have loved to purchase but I couldn’t fit everything in my car. I definitely will be back soon.

Many interesting finds. Have a good hour to look around. Downstairs is the bedroom furniture.

They have a lot of different things and you will always find things to buy at all of their locations. The prices are reasonable and affordable. The customer service from some of the staff is rude and almost them acting like they don’t want to be there but they also have some really helpful and kind staff members! I haven’t brought anything to sell but if I do I will review on that experience.

I found this store to be more over priced than most of its competitors in the area. The store is massive and contains a large selection of furniture, antiques, decorations, frames and outdoor patio furniture, but some of the prices were close to what one would pay for similar pieces new. Of course, like any consignment shop, it really depends on what’s available that day and your personal taste. If you’re looking for a unique, funky piece for your home (like a green couch, some lawn gnomes or a silver tea pot) this is a great place to come!

Some odd reviews here, for sure, lol. One griped about «old dead people’s stuff.» I guess he’s too dumb to know that’s part of what sells at consignment stores– estate furniture or «dead people’s» stuff. I guess he plans on never ageing or dying, remaining a snarky clueless millennial forever. That said, he looks fat in his picture and will probably not make it to 40.
CC has a nice mix of «gently used «older furniture and newer furniture, the more modern stuff being the bulk of their inventory. Literally new stuff everyday. My favorite is the patio furniture outdoors and the knick knack racks full of haunted stuff from the estates of «dead people.» Most of the staff is very helpful. One of the owners, Marty, sadly passed away recently causing some upheaval in the place. That seems to have settled down now and the store is back to its former coolness, packed full of «dead people» swag. The basement is mostly big furniture and bedroom sets and is, according to several employees, haunted (no joke).
After 30 days items are discounted 20%, 50% after 60 days and up to 80% after 90 days. You can get great deals if you arrive at the right time. You can save thousands here in furnishing your home over buying new stuff at full retail.

I usually find something I can use. Pricing for the most part is fair. they do reduce things after 30 days and some people know how to read the codes so you can watch pricing. If you bring it to the desk, they will tell you when it will be reduced. Not all price reductions are marked. They do get one of a kind stuff which makes even wandering through there a fun experience.

Fantastic deals, great selection, courteous and knowledgable staff; what’s not to like! After my last two apartment moves, I made countless visits here to search for that special needed piece that was floating around in my mind’s eye. It was always fun to shop here, even on those few occasions when I did not find what I was looking for. And, if you go on the weekend, it’s right across the street from Kobey’s swap meet!

Went there a few days ago just to see what they had in the store. Not impressed, the place smells, the floor is dirty and the furniture is just so so. They have stands of old costume jewelry that should just be tossed in the dump. There are racks of odds and ends, found a shelf but the price was way too much. If what they have on the floor is considered classic then perhaps they should look up the word «classic» in the dictionary.

I needed to get several bedrooms in my house furnished. First thought I had was hey when I go to my neighborhood consignment shop. These guys are the best! I don’t want in there with her specific budget in mind and came out with enough money left over for a very good dinner. I was able to get everything I needed for most of the rooms they had in mind although I will be back do some further shopping in the future!

This place is cool!!! So glad my friend told me about this. I came looking for a computer desk. We went to 2 locations but none of them had what i was looking for.
I didnt buy anything, but i give 5 stars because they have nice furniture and great deals!
i definitly recommend donating, selling or buying your stuff here if you decide to move in or move out :)

OK, so we are still looking for a bedroom set and a couch. WOW, three weeks ago and I though this place had gone downhill. However I was surprised at the transformation. Did not find a couch, but we did find a very cool bedroom set and would have bought another one if we had the room. The clothes were in a separate area. DO NOT miss the downstairs area. Also, this is one of those store that you have to keep checking back regularly.

As consignment stores go, this one is also hit or miss — but man, there are some fantastic finds here! I’m really looking forward to browsing when I have a little more time. I found an armoire, Japanese style that is gorgeous and plenty of other items caught my eye as well.
They don’t have delivery, so prepare to bring a large vehicle for transporting all of the awesome things you buy.

I am basing our experience with this location solely on customer service, and if I were able to, I’d give it 0 stars. Hubby and I have been in this store twice and both times have received no customer service at all. The same lady has been behind the counter both times and has felt the need to ignore us. She is not a nice person whatsoever. And this is the reason why although we’ve found some good pieces, we would never buy them. Due to their extremely high pricing and lack of customer service, it’s not worth it to us to give them any of our hard-​earned money.
To tell you the truth, we don’t even know how this location manages to stay in business for this long… every time we go in, we’re always the only ones in there.

It always seems like they are selling old dead people’s stuff. My friend said the smell bothered him the moment he entered the store. I personally didnt smell anything, but he said it wouldnt leave hiim after we left. But anyway, I digress.
I felt for the prices they charged we could find something better new. A lot of low quality or just ugly pieces. It seems they are trying to go for an antique vibe. I remember a few years ago being able to see very high end pieces, and while they still have some nice pieces, there is a lot of junk or very outdated pieces mixed in.
Just okay for me. I did not find anything I wanted, mainly due to the high prices for obviously used furniture. I felt the line between consignment and used was a little blurry in this case. Perhaps I am looking for more contemporary pieces. There was a large store selection, though!

It’s been a year since I was at this store. It’s gone downhill.
They have upped the amount of poorly done in house attempts at «shabby shic.» These horrors can be found against the far south wall, where it reeks of spray paint and varnish.
The basement is still a disaster area of beat up bed frames and cockroaches. I found one piece of quality oak furniture, but the price was so ridiculous it made me wonder what type of imbeciles keep them in business.

Mother of god– how incorrect I was to judge this place. We bought a brand new amazing entry way table that is beautiful and only $ 189– similar ones were at least $ 450 and not as high of quality. Go here with time and enjoy the scenery, it’s amazing.

I really want to like Consignment Classics, its a huge store with a variety of indoor/​outdoor furniture and household items. However, as this is a consignment and not vintage store A LOT of the items are from the 80s/​90s and so don’t seem thrifted chic quite yet but just tacky. I also tend to think they are higher priced than any other used furniture store in San Diego.
However, I do try to go about once every month or two just to look and so far have made two great purchases, an antique (yes, actually antique!) distressed yellow dresser and a trundle bed for my kids (which was newer).
They do not deliver under any circumstance so factor in paying for delivery into your cost. The delivery men they recommend are terrible, unreliable people. I would independently try to find your own.

If you fancy yourself a decorator and love to find a great deal, you may have just found your favorite new place. This is not designer furniture, or ultra high end stuff but if you are eclectic and love one of a kind pieces you just may find what you are looking for.
This is a consignment store so everyday is a different inventory list. You can not be sure what you will or won’t find. What is sure though, the prices won’t be beat. There is a combination of brand new items and slightly used items. So some items can be ordered in other fabrics and colors.
The store is really large, so make sure you go downstairs too. In the back on your way to the outside area you will find a framing store, a glass shop and other helpful people who can help you design the PERFECT accent for your home.
I have pieces from this store that really stand out in our home and our guests always comment on.
In the last few months they have added a section of knick knacks up front, don’t let this in any way dissuade you from entering. Times are tough, they have to make money too, just walk past this and take your time.
Oh and the most important fact, they are dog friendly!!! I mean really friendly! Even our 200lb one is welcomed here with smiles and big hugs.

1895 Hancock Street was always an interesting building to me… I see some cool things outside the back patio, but just assumed it was like a Goodwill store inside…
Boy, was I fooled.
I needed to get glass cut and the edges smoothed to protect an antique buffet table top I inherited from my mother. I was told to go to 1895 Hancock Street.
Upon entering I wasn’t sure I was in the right place, what with all the funky furniture from all over the world… I asked, and the front desk guy sent me to the back of the warehouse…
OMG. this is HUGE (I vaguely remember saying this alot. hmm?)
HUGE is right… The warehouse went further back and then some.
What was in the back you ask? Not only a place to get custom cut glass, but a place to get custom framing for paintings, pictures and mirrors…
Let me tell you about the deal I got on my custom cut glass: I had a previous business quote me at $ 80 — $ 90… I kid you not. I opted to go to someplace closer to where I live (cut to) …1895 Hancock Street.
I had my glass cut while I browsed and paid only $ 18.95. YES. $ 18.95!!! WTF?
I’ll bet in comparison, custom framing is much more competitive in price here also. They’ve got tons of frames to choose… from Italian hand made wood up to $ 1000 in price to somewhat more commercially mass produced frames…
You’ll find GEMS in here. GEMS I say… amongst some ODDS and ends. It’s a creative designers treasure chest.
THIS is the place I’d shop for UNIQUE, CONTEMPORARY, AND NOT SO CONTEMPORARY finds… Don’t get me wrong it’s not all cheap, and its not poorly made furniture either. You’ll definitely not find anything in here you’ll like, if your the IKEA shopper. :-(
