Christ the Cornerstone Academy

This excellent school goes from pre-​school to 5^th grade. The teachers provide a loving and structured atmosphere that encourage our kids to learn and respect each other as well as our country. I have two older sons 29 and 24 who went to school here. They both established a wonderful Christian foundation which I believe has helped them in their path on life. My granddaughter started pre-​school and is currently in first grade. She too is establishing a great foundation. She really enjoys going to the school. They teach everything-​reading, writing, math, social studies, computer, art, music and Christianity. The education quality is top notch and the administrative staff is wonderful! The class-​room sizes are small and provide more one on one time for the children with their teachers. They also have a wonderful summer program. I highly recommend this school!!!

My child attended CTC 3 year old preschool until Kindergarten and our family loved it. We could not find any daycare/​public school in 2013 that measured up to this school. We loved that it was academic and our daughter was challenged, which kept her from becoming bored like she was in daycare. We loved all of her preschool teachers, all of whom were attentive to her needs. The preschool director listened to my concerns and made adjustment to fit my child’s needs. Unfortunately, the school has lost many of the preschool teachers and the new ones do not seem to be as friendly and welcoming (in passing).
On the plus side, the school has opened a 2 year old program, but I was not a fan of it. The two year old teacher seemed distant and I noticed there was no interaction with my child on multiple occasions (at different times of the day). The toys also did not seem age appropriate from what I saw.
Lastly, kindergarten was awesome. My daughter loved it. Academically they are doing things that public kinder was not doing. The children are exposed to many countries, learn to read, spell, write stories, they started the day with bible study/​lesson (my child’s favorite), computers, art, and even did a little cooking with the teacher’s special guest. They also provide after school clubs for a small fee plus daycare charges. They have small classes. They plan several field trips throughout the year, which the kids loved. I loved that the parents and there for each other without hesitation.
Oh, for the new school year, they are looking for expand daycare and open at 6:30 am, which would really help some parents. Hopefully it happens.
We had to leave the school before the end of the school for a job opportunity, but once we get everything in order, we hope to return to San Diego and Return to CTC in the future.

CTCA helped a lot in helping our son adjust to USA. We had just moved here from India and it was such a big change for him. Our son really loved the school and is happy whenever he can visit CTCA. I really think that CTCA and its staff are the most loving and wonderful people that love to teach. The teachers and Principal are so dedicated and encouraging. Love the school

I knew that this was the right fit for my daughter. It is a great family that love what they are doing .they have small class sizes… at the end I highly recommend this great school

From the moment I step foot in this place, I knew CTCA was the right place for my son. From the school director to the secretary, everyone here has that genuine appreciation of caring for kids the way God intended. The teachers are very informative and have the goals for your child to succeed.
My son is 4 years old and enrolled in Pre-​K. After the first day of school, the director recommended that his current class was too big and would benefit more in a smaller class. We agreed and he was put into a class of 10 students. He has been excelling more and more each day. They really do care about his growth and development. I love the fact they will take the time to give you sort of a quick but detailed daily report of his progress and what we as parents can do to help further his learning development. His previous school did none of that. We are very happy and blessed to have our son here at CTCA!

LOVE this school!!! My daughter went to preschool and Kindergarden at CTCA. She will be starting first grade next year. She loves going to school each day and loved summer camp this summer (she has actually cried more than once when I’ve told her no school today).
The parents care at this school and most students do their homework, improving the overall level of education.
The school is small so all of the teachers know all of the students (and know them well), leading to more individualized education. After 20 students in a class, the class gets a full-​time aid. Next year my child will have 12 students in her class. And, the graduating class last year had 10 students! All 10 wrote and presented their graduation speech in front of the audience. Not many 5^th grade classes I know get that opportunity.
I love all of the after-​school activities right on campus geared toward different interests: martial arts, science club, homework club, art, music lessons. My daughter takes weekly piano lessons right on campus with the music teacher, so no extra driving! And next year I plan on signing her up for martial arts. And there are numerous optional shows and presentations, giving students the opportunity to present in front of large audiences.
Education is a priority at CTCA, but so is discipline and moral values. I truly feel the staff cares about my child and her lasting role in this world.
Very affordable: I never considered placing my child in a private school and assumed she would attend public. But after her incredible preschool experience, we felt it was a steal! We feel so lucky we found this gem of a school and plan on keeping our child there until 5^th grade graduation, putting off moving because we can’t imagine this level of education at this price anywhere else. We just wish they offered more grade levels beyond 5^th.

My son is in the first grade. He has attended Christ The Cornerstone Academy (CTCA) since he was 4 years old. We love the education he has received so far. My husband and I love the small classroom sizes. Our son is able to get the attention that he needs from being in a small classroom. The teachers and staff really care about the well being of their students. They take the time to get to know each and every students name and their family members name. Anytime I walk into the front office they know who I am and who my son is without me saying who I am. I love the Christian atmosphere. The school introduces Christianity to the students, I think this is important in the up bringing of our children. The school also has computer class, Music class and PE as part of their curriculum. How many public schools offer this??? They also have a after school daycare. There have been a few times we have needed the after school care and it come in handy. We cannot say enough about this school. It is definitely a hidden gem.

I could not think of a better school! Private education doesn’t need to cost a fortune so check it out, it is so worth it! My son is attending his second year, now in 1^st grade. Christian education and ABEKA curriculum really attracted me. The small class sizes really gives the caring teachers the time they need to give each student individual attention and they make sure no one falls behind. He is in a class of 13 students this year, compared to the sizes in public schools with more than 32+ students!!! The teachers even provide support after school if they notice that there are areas that your child needs extra attention. They have PE, Art, Music class and computer class weekly. My son has also had the pleasure to participate in after school activities such as Science club (weekly) and Holiday Art club (once a month). There are numerous other clubs available and even affordable martial arts classes. The school offers FREE before school care between 7.30−8. If you need earlier care or after school care you only pay for what you use… huge difference from the public school ESS where you currently have to pay about $ 3000 per school year. They even include a snack in the afternoon. One thing that I also like is that CTC has a 8am-​3pm schedule (a full day). Only once a month is there an early dismissal at noon. Compare that to public school that gets out around 2pm and a weekly early dismissal. Public school also close down here and there and add extra weeks off during the summer and Holidays just to save money in their budget. If you are a working parent that means you need to spend even more $$ on camps and childcare during those days when school is closed. This got long… but I just want to share with others how amazing CTC Academy really is!

My son is 5 years old and attends the pre-​school at CTC. My son can be a bit rambunctious and sometimes does not listen very well. The small classroom sizes and loving enviroment gives my son the attention that he needs. My son has learned and grown so much since he started. I love how everyone knows his name and my name. My son knows everyone’s name too! The school and the staff have become a bit of our second home. I’m a single mom who works full time. I love the after school Daycare that they offer at a very affordable price. I have peace of mind knowing that while I am at work my son it getting the right education in a loving and safe enviroment. I would recommend this school to anyone with children that are in preschool — 5^th grade.

Former student here, love the atmosphere, love the teachers, made a lot of friends, also made a lot of memories. I don’t know why people are saying that they «beat education to the kids», well in my opinion the teachers do teach and they’re really supportive and helpful to the students. I’m in college and I still use their techniques that they taught me. Sometimes the staff are strict, but only because they’re concerned about safety. Although, a majority of the time they are really understanding and caring. Great school :)

My twin boys love their preschool, which is very important to me. They love going to school here. They just completed their first year in the yellow duck and the blue whales class. They will be entering the 4 year old class this September. I can’t rave enough about this place and recommend it to those searching for a preschool for their kids. The teachers are great! (My boys are always saying how their teacher says this/​tells them that – they idolize their teachers!!) Very caring and loving environment to send your kiddos to. They will love it here. My boys have blossomed so much since I enrolled them in preschool here. Tuition is really affordable too. Believe me, I’ve researched preschools for a full year before enrolling my boys here. I wanted a preschool that was affordable yet high quality and I found both in this preschool. At only $ 670/​month for full time 7am-​5pm (for 2013 – 2014 school year), the price beats all the preschools in Mira Mesa plus I did not feel that I’ve sacrificed price for quality. The preschool hours are perfect for working parents (both hubby & I work full time). Christ the Cornerstone Academy does not have all the bells and whistles of other preschools, is an older preschool, love the small class size and the quality of education taught here. My boys do art projects, sing songs, learn Bible stories, Christian values, and know their abc’s and 123’s. Thank you CTCA!

We could go on and on about how much we love this school. The curriculum is challenging and both my wife and I like this. The kids are challenged and are taught christian values. we now have two children in the school. Recently I coached two of the students in a recreation soccer league and they were both so well behaved and respectful. You have to discount the comments below. They dont put kids alone in rooms, thats ludicrous. If you want your child to be super well adjusted and ahead of similar aged children for academics then this is your place. Also, they have a very low student to teacher ratio so your child gets lots of attention. Our 3 year old is in the preschool and LOVES her teacher. They do lots of great art projects, sing songs, learn the alphabet and she already knows how to write her name. Its overall a very loving environment.

This school is a hidden gem. (No, I was not paid to write this.)
It may look unappealing from the outside, but all the staff and students are lovely. The school is small enough so everyone knows everyone, and my child is very happy there. She has learned many important lessons in a caring, helpful environment. I cannot speak for the preschool as we have not had a need for those services, but I trust they are just as good as the dayschool.

My child has been here for close to 5 months and I think its great. The Teachers ARE attentive, they are friendly, and caring. My child had a mild fever, and they advised me of it and that my child slept longer during nap type.
The staff there is always friendly.
I am a very protective mother to my child, and education (even at 3.5) is HIGHLY important to me. My child is pretty advanced (at a kinder garden level), and this place keeps the momentum of learning going. Tracing letters, knowing what a number looks like, etc.
Not sure about the experience you are writing, as I see it far fetched, Ive sat there during play time, showed up out of the blue, and picked my child up after class (during day-​care hours) and always felt comfortable with what I saw.

My son attended this school for less than a year.
I would not recommend anyone subject their child to even that long. My son now nearly 5 tells me they put him in a room by himself. I checked with an ex aide there that my family knew and confirmed this horrifying fact!
In addition, there were several instances when i would go and watch the playground behavior. The adults on the play ground were not very attentive to what the children were doing and seemed to single out children.
For instance, I sat through a lunch where one child was standing on the lunch bench, throwing her food and not spoken to at all about this. While another child was chastised for scooting over too far towards the child beside them.
There were also other things that did not sit well with me. A teacher stated that she would rather be retired and spending time with her grand children. My thoughts are if you are a teacher in a private school, it should be because you want to for the children!
The school gives 3 year old children written behavioral notices that state things like «unchristian like behavior.» Anyone who has children knows that a 3 year old does not know what Christian like behavior is, that is what I am trying to teach my children and part of why I chose to send them to private school.
I moved my child to Mira Mesa Christian Preschool and am very satisfied.
