Cheryl was an amazing teacher & the new manager. She provide tons of adjustment & lots of personal attention.

This is the only place where I can find a Pilates mat class!
I love the classic mat work & Missy makes sure you are working every muscle to its full potential! She has an amazing eye for body positioning & helps with little adjustments here & there to ensure you’re at optimal performance.
I give Chakra Pikates 4.5 stars for the mat class — it would be 5 stars if they offered an Intermediate mat class. But Missy does give challenge options.
I give Charka Pilates 3 stars for the Pilates reformer class. I was a beginner & new to the reformer machine, I told the instructor that I had never used the reformer but she didn’t give me any instructions. There were only 2 of us in the class, she could have easily helped me out a bit. When I went to Pilates Plus in Pacific Beach they made sure to go over the machine, how it works, and why we position our bodies in specific ways on the machine. I’ve been to several classes at Pilates Plus & the instructor explains it every time there is a new student!

Since this review, Chakra in Point Loma has discontinued it’s yoga program. Very disappointed but I understand that the demand for pilates was greater.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this studio. So glad I did the Groupon — Now I’m addicted! I started going after having my twins a year ago and I’m beyond amazed at my transformation. This studio offers a wide range of classes and times. The instructors are incredible and well trained with many years of experience.

I really love this place. Great teachers in a comfortable atmosphere. The only negative is the price. I can only afford this place when they offer deals.

Today was my first class at Chakra at the UTC location with Kate. She is a great teacher! I’ve taken many classes at 4 different Pilates Studios. Her class was by far the best and most productive class I’ve had in Pilates Reformer. Her little tweaks here and there made a tremendous difference in effectiveness of the exercise.
I highly recommend giving Chakra a try! You’ll be glad you did.

All the classes offer something different and all are equally awesome. The instructors are passionate, helpful and inspiring. I’ve spoken to Mariel, the owner and she is simply beautiful in every way; she truly care about her clients having a positive experience.
Chakra Pilates is good for all levels of fitness and offers a wide range of class times.

I ride my bike from PB to Point Loma for Chakra Pilates. I started there becase I heard great things about the reformer workout and they had a Living Social deal so it seemed like a great way to test it out. I never knew I could actually enjoy working out (I am more of a happy hour kinda gal) but now I love pilates too.
When my sessions ran out I tried 2 other studios that are far more convienant and their «reformer classes». Don’t be fooled by the fakes folks! I have since renewed at Chakra and my man can’t keep his hands off my behind. «Pain in the butt» really pays off!
Great instructors, clean envirnment, tons of class times and genuinely enjoyable experience.

I got the Living Social plan for Chakra Pilates, and it turned out to be such a great decision. The pilates reformer classes are amazing, but really, I stay for the Vinyasa Yoga. The instructors are amazing, and I really just love being able to come to the studio and have a great yoga practice.
I have been suffering from lower back pain for a couple years now and had to give up running for a while because of it. Thanks to Chakra Pilates, I have really strengthened my core and especially my lower back, so running is no longer an issue for me. Not only that, I am doing yoga poses that I have never been able to hold before!

I LOVE this studio! All the instructors are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The studio is always clean and they have so many classes to choose from. AND… If you find a class you would like to take one but it doens’t fit into your schedule, just let the owner know and she will add one that will fit to your schedule!

By far my favorite yoga studio and pilates studio! I have been going since April and fell in love with this place! I started with a Living Social ad that allowed me a LOT of reformer classes for super cheap and I loved it. The instructors are very friendly and personable and focus on each individual person. I love the Yoga– Carla is an amazing instructor! Such positive energy, not too crowded like other studios!
I love this place and highly recommend to anyone looking to take yoga (at any level) or Pilates!

I took a chance on a Living Social offer and man am I glad that I did! Love this place! They have tons of classes to fit just about any schedule and their instructors are creative and passionate about what they do! They offer several varieties of classes. Each time I tried a new style, I took from instructor Mariel… she’s the owner and is great about correcting form. I love that she loves what she does, it really shows in the quality of the studio! I also loved Cris’s class on Monday mornings, she’s full of energy and will burn up your core!
Pilates really works. I’ve worked out, ran, done aerobics. the whole thing. Pilates gave me the best results in the quickest time. It may be a little expensive, but SO WORTH IT! I’ve tried another studio and Chakra was definitely superior.

Still loving it at Chakra. Instructors are very nice and I love that even though the business has grown so much in the last few years each class still provides the personal attention to good form every move you make.
Since I have gone back regularly after graduating in may, I have lost 9 lbs. The hour goes by so fast because you are told what to do and just let someone else guide you. No need to think what am I going to do next like at the gym.

I have only gone to a few classes but Mariel is amazing!
I have attended a few group reformer classes and being new to Pilates I was initially intimidated but it was fun. I appreciated the personal attention that I got during a group class. Mariel had her eyes on my posture to make corrections and give me instruction when needed.
I really had a great experience :)

so, have been attending group reformer classes and a few mat classes for about six weeks now and can really see a difference in my posture and tone. I have dropped one full pants size!
Really appreciate the good work and care from this studio. They are really making a difference for me!!!

Love this place!
I really like that they have different rooms and offer a great variety of classes. I’ve been to other Pilates studios that offer the reformer and that’s about it. I love that they offer everything from mat to springboard. I’ve tried the reformer, which I enjoyed and found it to be a pretty good workout.
Springboard is my favorite. I felt that this one is more of an overall body conditioning. Jumpboard is their reformer/​cardio class which is great to get your heart rate up. And finally, I tried the apparatus class which is probably the one I didn’t care much for. There was only one instructor and 6 students but everyone is doing something different and I thought there was a lot of wasted time while each one got instructed especially if someone needed a little more help with an exercise.
All the instructors are really nice and encouraging. I’ve had Lauren a few times and I really like her style. She not only talks you through the exercise but the breathing too which is easy to forget to do while focusing on the movement.
The place is very clean and I never found parking to be an issue. They have a small lot in back, which was never full and there is plenty of street parking.
My only complain is that on more than one occasion they canceled my class the day before because I had been the only one to sign up. It wasn’t the end of the world and they did try and be accommodating but I usually plan my workouts for the week so it threw me off a bit.
Overall, I def recommend this place! It has something for everyone!

This place is a gem.
Instructors — Friendly, caring, and professional, i.e. no mindless chatter and no snobby attitude (both of which I’ve come across at other places). They really want you to get the best out of your time there. I haven’t met an instructor I didn’t like. Extra props to Lauren and Katie for always pushing us to work harder.
Class variety — Huge! Aside from plain old reformer, you can try the springboard, jumpboard, lots of other apparatuses, mat pilates, circuit classes, «yogalates»… For the springboard and jumpboard, there are intro classes for you to get your feet wet. Also, I love that there are yoga classes here. Somehow, taking pilates and yoga classes back-​to-​back just feels so good. (endorphins + stretching + comfortably heated room?)
Class size — The intro/​beginner classes are capped at 4 students, and the group classes are capped at 6. The studio also offers a few coveted «semi-​private» classes (2 students) that cost the same as the regular ones. In any case, you get a lot of individual attention, which is especially important for learning proper form.
Class schedule — There is basically a class every hour starting from 6am to 8:30pm (with a gap from 1 – 3:30pm).
Parking — A cinch! The lot is adjacent to the building and almost always has room. I didn’t really appreciate this until I found myself circling downtown La Jolla looking for a spot before one of my other classes.
Downsides? None, really. Well, Rosecrans drives me crazy, but Chakra is worth it.

I had a one-​month unlimited membership from Livingsocial last November to try out this place. I ended up waking up every morning just to attend one of the yoga classes. Although it was so hard for me to wake up 6:30am every morning, it was worth it, every class! The morning instructor, Erica was excellent. I felt so refreshed and always ready to start my day. Besides, my husband actually said I seemed less stressed.
I liked the morning classes better than the evening because they were usually very small, from 2 to 3 people. I like that I got personal attention from the instructor, especially when they adjusted my stretches deeper.
The evening classes are usually over-​packed with people. This also creates a problem with parking because they do not have a lot space.
Another down side was that the studio is located near a bar/​pub.
Sometimes I was worried about my car being broken into, especially during the evening.
Otherwise, I enjoyed this place. I almost signed up for a three-​month membership – that is how much I liked.

Mariel, the owner of this pilates studio, is awesome. I was looking for a pilates studio awhile back and a friend of mine said that Mariel’s place is really the best. I live in North County so for me, even though the drive to Pt Loma can be crazy (especially w/​traffic), this studio still makes it worth it.
They have 5 reformer machines and the group classes are just great. If you’ve never done Pilates on a reformer before, it’s a big tough but you really do see yourself improving w/​each session.
Over time, you begin to get to know your fellow ‘classmates’. People are really encouraging, friendly, and laid back here.
