Jose D.
Manager
Chef Jose Duran, Executive Chef at Casa Guadalajara in Old Town, has been the mastermind behind Casa Guadalajara’s menu for over 10 years, pairing fresh seafood with authentic Mexican cuisine for a winning combination.
The recipient of «Chef of the Year» by the Chefs de Cuisine Association of San Diego in 2007, Duran began his culinary career in Mexico City in the early 1970’s. Later, with only a dream and $ 40 in his pocket, he packed up his family and headed for the United States where his passion for cooking helped him land jobs at popular restaurants such as Mr. A’s and Casa de Bandini, and ultimately led him to becoming the executive chef at Casa Guadalajara.
His creations have repeatedly received top honors at the International Seafood Cooking Competition in Ensenada, Mexico where he has earned medals for seven consecutive years (2000 — 2007) for his scrumptious seafood recipes.
