At California Karate Academy we teach traditional Tang Soo Do & Krav Karate classes for the whole family, 3 years and older. Our students learn real world self defense while improving physical conditioning and reinforcing the character qualities key to becoming successful in every aspect of their lives.

History

Established in 2015.

Master Courage & Senior instructor Mikita created California Karate Academy as alternative to the martial arts programming found in most studios today. Instead of large classes of 20 – 30 students with multiple instructors, we wanted to offer a more traditional approach with limited class sizes and top quality instruction taught personally by the studio owners.

With over 25 years experience in the martial arts we recognized that bigger is not always better and that students excel faster in a family type atmosphere which provides greater consistency and personal attention.

At California Karate Academy you will find a clean, modern studio with a welcoming positive atmosphere where we encourage students to strive for Black Belt Excellence in all areas of their lives.

Meet the Business Owner

Mikita K.

Business Owner

Originally from Ireland, Master Karl Courage holds a 4^th degree black belt in the art of Tang Soo Do and received his instructor certification in 1996 from world renowned Grandmaster C.S. Kim, head of the International Tang Soo Do Federation.

During the past 25 years of training, he has also studied Kobudo (ancient weapons) and has completed the level one instructor training in Krav Maga, the self-​defense system created for the Israeli defense forces.

Over the years, he has participated in numerous advanced training seminars in subjects such as knife defense, gun defense, sword techniques and travelled to Korea and China in 2001 with Grandmaster Kim for special empty hand and weapons training.
