I had to go pee so bad! (TMI) but this place has an outdoor potty that you can ask the gas attendant for.
The restroom was pretty clean for it being close to the airport.
I accidentally over fueled and the attendant refunded me the money really quick and he was super nice!

Rudest service I’ve ever experienced. If I could leave no stars I would. I can’t explain how shocked I was by the attitude the cashier gave me. My card was declined the first time I ran it so I asked the cashier if I can run it again. he said why, it’s just going to decline. That threw me off. I said let me run it again, maybe I punched in my pin wrong. He said well with that attitude whatever. I did not know what to say. Just took my card, turned around and left. I will never go there again.

If there is not other option and the car is asking for gas and you just happen to be there… otherwise you might want to go to an easier to use gas station less crowded and with better layout. Super crowded, it was a mess for the cars to get out. It seems smaller than the average stations, but that is maybe because is in the corner of the 5 exit towards the airport. It is convenient if you need to fill gas before returning the car to the rental office. Other than that, better to avoid. I like, though, the constant low flying of the airplanes. I feel like stopping the gas filling to take some pictures, you can see them really just above your head, so cool.

The good thing about this gas station is that it is close to the airport. The bad thing is that it’s so close on a Friday afternoon every rental car in the San Diego area stops here before getting back to the airport. The other bad thing is that the layout of the pumps and the entryways will have you doing 10 point turns to get out of the place. If you can fill up[ before you hit this point. When the traffic gets heavy and the pumps are all occupied your just as likely to wreck the rental as you are to complete your fill-​up.

There are too many gas stations around to give your business to this one. The man working was rude. He was talking on his cell phone. When I asked him where something was, he rolled his eyes and just pointed. Then, as I was pumping my gas, he walked outside right in front of the doorway and started smoking a cigarette only 20 feet from the pumps. Unbelievable.

Gas prices $.30/​gal more than elsewhere in San Diego. The management knows visitors returning rental cars at the airport are willing to pay for convenience, and they take full advantage of you here.

Half of the flights back east leave very early in the morning. Like «before dawn» early. Like «before most places are open» early. But not Bob Stivers Shell. We’re open when I’m headed to the airport and you sure as heck can’t best the location. It’s right between the airport exit on the Five (that’s what you locals call Interstate 5) and the airport, on the correct side of the road even. Perhaps not as many pumps as one might like during the busy hours, but the wait hasn’t been that long.
Best of all, the receipt printers work. Yay!
Easy in, the out can be easy if there’s no one behind you. Otherwise, you have to go down the block and make a u-​turn.

It’s is close to the rental car companies. I can’t really comment on the prices (I’ve stopped even looking — too scary) but if it’s near the airport/​car rental companies so I’m guessing it’s not pretty. It helps if you shop at Ralph’s because you can use your card to save $ 0.10 (or $ 0.20 right now as they are running a promotion) per gallon.

I live across the street from this place and would rather drive 5 miles just to get a candy bar rather than go to this place. The workers here are the dumbest individuals I have EVER met… since when does debit = credit (mind you this is 3x in a row) and the one time they do run it as debit, he accuses me of «taking the slow way» Does he not realize I am the customer? Any how… worst gas station ever, I don’t go to this place just because of the workers.
Oh, btw… the old dude that works here, smokes INSIDE the store at night… when I asked him about it, he simply said «yup! what are you gonna do about it?»

The only reason I come here is because it’s convenient for me. It’s a block from my office.

This place is next to several car rental lots, so it has many out of town customers who fill up their gas tanks before leaving San Diego. They have signs at the pumps that tell customers to bring their credit or debit cards inside if they want to pay. The surly dude inside takes your card and reviews your drivers license (which helps him to confirm you are from out of town). He then gives back your ID and holds on to your card while you pump gas. You get your card back after finishing pumping gas, but you may find an extra $ 5 separate charge from this Shell station just as I did. When I called him later about this, he said he runs a charge for $ 5 first «just to see if there is money in the account. It will come off later tonight.» To be fair, the charge did come off in 3 – 4 days, but the experience was unpleasant and unnecessary. I would go somewhere else next time.

It’s a Shell Gas Station, not a BP, which is why I decided to stop in here to gas up before returning the rental and heading to the airport. Gas is a bit more expensive than most places, but due to it’s proximity to the airport, that’s to be expected.
The lines here can be ridiculous, but you can also find it empty, so make sure you time it right. The service inside the tiny little convenience store is just about as bad as it can get. The store isn’t very well stocked, and doesn’t have much to offer. Overall, if you’re going to be downtown, gas up well before you get here. If you’re looking for snacks or refreshments, try to wait until you get out of the area. I can only recommend this place to people who need to gas ‘n go on the fly, and have nowhere else to go.
