Blue Planet Laundry

Someone stole my laundry basket :(More washing machines were out of service that what could be used. The aisle are TOO small. I ended up with a machine that didn’t actually work — no hot water. I appreciate the heck out of the Unilocal check-​in freebie of detergent but I would rather have my things not stolen.
I have a traditional style machine at home, came to the mat for a larger machine.

Heather is the best. Anytime you have any questions about the washers or even any tips on how to better wash your clothes, Heather is the best person to go to. She’s super kind and friendly and I wouldn’t wash my clothes any other place.

There is an Asian lady that works here who is extremely rude. I do not want To describe her as Asian in a negative or way however when asked her name she refused to tell me. This is often our go to laundry facility if we have large loads however every single encounter I’ve had with this woman has left a bad taste in my mouth. She is non savvy about the store and units themselves this blast time we mentioned to her that a machine was not working .she. replied that we overloaded it. Even though it was just a blanket and 6 sheets in a five load machine. We brought to her attention there was no suds as was seen on another machine and that the clothes might not be getting cleaned. She points to three other machines and walks off mumbling and says I don’t know. What kind of customer service is that. So we spend $ 30+ on laundry inlybto have an individual that doesn’t provide a solution to a problem. Clearly the machines were broke.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced ANYWHERE. Admittedly I came in 2 minutes after the last wash (9pm) which I didn’t know about at the time, so when I walked in the first thing I did was ask if it was okay that I came in since one of the signs still read «open» and the door was wide open as well. I got no answer from the employee there, she just glared at me & walked away. After I asked a second time thinking she possibly didn’t hear me the first time, I still got no answer. Instead, one of the other customers advised that I just go ahead & get started since technically I didn’t get a no. Any other day the employee’s reaction would’ve bothered me & I would’ve taken my business elsewhere, however I knew this particular night was my only free one that week and I just needed to get it done.
That however was not the only bad incident this night. After having brought in my laundry I did not stop getting yelled at by this lady. At first she wanted to force me to throw in all my laundry into one big washer so that I «finished faster» despite me stating I couldn’t do that because they were all different color & knits. I told her if me taking a while was a problem, I would opt out of folding my clothes there & just taking to home after it dried so I was not holding her up. After not abiding to her demand she threatened to call security on me because I was using an area that she had already cleaned & didn’t want to clean again before closing. I didn’t understand how as a customer that was any of my concern, being that not only did she have 1.5 hour longer to clean AND I promised to not make a mess AND even offered to clean up after myself in case I did.
Anyway, then, she went on to yell at me when I asked if I could get change. Instead of a simple no, she said she was not going to open up the cash drawer just for me so, so she wanted me to put in my $ 20 into the change dispenser & carry about $ 14 worth of quarters after my laundry was done. I decided not do so & got change from the pizza place next door & just went about my laundry.
To sum it up, I did not stop receiving glares or hearing her mumble under her breath when she passed by me each time, the whole time I was there. I really hope that this little Asian lady was just having a bad day & that no one else has gotten treated the way I did that night. I for one, acted as civil as possible when dealing with her rudeness but I know not all people are capable of doing that so in retrospect, good luck to her and good luck to all customers who choose to continue their business here! I hope you too are never forced to have to deal with an angry employee just because you’re in desperate need to get your laundry done! And if it weren’t obvious enough, I’m sticking with Wash n’ Go down the street.

This is one of my favorite laundromats in San Diego. I have been coming to this laundromat on and off over the last ten years (before it was Blue Planet). A few years ago when it changed to Blue Planet they bought all new machines and the place is great. I have never had any clothes ruined in the washers or driers. They added stools and tables to you can sit more comfortably while on your computer or tablet. There are also about 9 chairs on the front wall of the laundromat. There are a few old video games that are great for little kids. The workers here are all very nice and if you experience any problem they fix it immediately. If you run out of detergent there is a Vons within walking distance and there are also plenty of food choices in this shopping center adding to the list of pros for this laundromat.
There are only a couple issues I have. The biggest being the prices for drying tends to be higher than most other laundomats. I also wish they had air conditioning. This laundromat gets extremely hot in the summer and there is no cross breeze to cool it down.

I love coming here. This place is clean and decent for price. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful. I try to avoid coming here on Sundays & Mondays. It gets pretty hectic. I’ve had bad experience here with the washer. I hate how when it’s busy and the washers are either broken or used. Other than that, I try to come on Wednesdays. This is probably my go to laundry place and the best one around my area.

Very clean and a good variety of different sized dryers and washers to choose from. Prices vary on time of day and different days. They have complimentary wifi, as well as large folding sections on their table areas that are very convenient to fold your freshly dried clothes. There are also TVs to keep you entertained, as well a three fame arcade for the kids. The laundromat is located inside a plaza that has a tapex, Woodstocks, yogurtland, as well as a vons and Chipotle. So if you are hungry, there are food options around!

I like doing my laundry outside oppose to staying home because I can get a few loads in at the same time! SoOo with that being said! I LOVE doing my laundry here!
The gal that works at BPL named Heather is super sweet and helpful! The place is clean, there are plenty of washers all around, they sell little things you might have forgotten (laundry detergent, fabric softener – of course it’s not going to be cheap but hey who’s fault is it?!), laundry bags (plastic bags to-​go for like .25). You get it. There’s also free WiFi and a seating area to use your laptop and charge your phone. Anyway I really like this laundry mat compared to others I’ve been to! If I don’t do it at home I’ll come here!

Great place… nice and clean… staff super nice and the FluffnFold is great… you tell them how you like it and its done right… parking can be abit tricky so with that said park in the back!

Came in at 8:45 (they close at 10:30) and the Filipino lady stared at me in the meanest way, mind you I was not the only one in there. Once my load started, the lady started ranting about how she hates people who come in late at night. I wasn’t making loud noises, just simply washing 2 loads. I understand that having a job that deals with customers all day can be annoying, but if you want to be rude and constantly dawg me and rant to yourself, might as well say it to me and not indirectly because if it’s that big of a problem I’ll happily leave.

Not the worst but not the best.
Wifi password that is posted is incorrect.
Doors closed and last wash is before 9 pm.
Not a large variety of machine sizes.
Overpriced on washers and dryers.
Clean but still overpriced.
Friendly worker.

I’ve been coming here for a little over two years now and have never had a problem until recently. The place is usually extremely clean but as of lately, I’ve seen roaches every time I’ve come here! In the bathroom, on the floors in the main area, even IN THE MACHINES!!! WTF, SO GROSS. Instead of making all these new signs I’ve been seeing why don’t they invest in some bug bombs or have the place tented?!
I used to come in weekdays and the place was always spotless, now I’ve been coming on the weekend and the place is not the same. Will probably come in during the week again when I know the place is going to be cleaner and avoid the roaches. (Hopefully)

I just recently moved to this area. I needed to find a new place to do my laundry. me and my boyfriend found this place. It was nice and clean. There was a lady named Heather who was working inside the drop off your laundry area. She was extremely nice and explained everything to us when it comes to dropping off your laundry. It’s only 99 cents a pound and they will fold an iron etc. Every time I’ve been here I’ve had a great experience and I would definitely recommend to anybody looking to get laundry done whether it be drop off or do yourself.

Been coming here for years, old and remodeled, very nice and clean but need to do something about the music, something everybody likes.

Lowering my rating due to the following:
1.) There is a very rude Filipino lady that sometimes works here; I only know she’s Filipino because I AM Filipino and I can tell by her heavy accent. I came here to wash my clothes one evening and went to Jersey Mike’s to get a quick bite to eat. I still had some sandwich leftover; I didn’t eat my sandwich inside the place but I brought the bag with me. Realizing that my clothes were still spinning in the wash, I proceeded to use the restroom to wash my hands. She comes straight at me (noticing I had my Jersey Mike’s sandwich bag) and asks in a very hostile tone if I was washing my clothes and the restrooms aren’t open to the public. When I told her that I WAS waiting for my clothes to be cleaned, she lightened up and let me use the restroom. Granted, I know there are crazy vagrants and loiterers in this area, but come on, I wasn’t just going in there without using the machines.
***BTW, I noticed that one Unilocaler stated that the owner had reached out to her trying to excuse this lady for her attitude that particular night when this Unilocaler tried to do her laundry. No offense but this lady has ALWAYS BEEN RUDE every time I’ve seen her there! Let me tell you I’ve been to this laundromat enough where I’ve seen her be rude to every customer who’s interacted with her every season over the years I’ve lived in San Diego. I usually ignored it and only mentioned it this one time because she was being directly snippy with me. And as someone who is Filipino like she is, I’m really offended (and shall I say disgusted) with her attitude.
I understand we all have off-​days and I don’t know what this lady is going through for her to be acting so miserable, but my god, can you at least try to be happy for just a little bit?***
2.) I had a Unilocal check in coupon to get a free detergent. Lady at the counter (different person) told me I couldn’t use it (!). What’s the point of having the free check-​in deal then???
I personally went out of my way to come here and use the machines as I live in Normal Heights; I know this place is more expensive than the average laundromat, but I wanted to come because I liked this place and the machines.
I will not come here again!

Hands down the best laundry house in SD… it’s so clean and well maintained, even when it’s busy there are a lot of machines to go around. They sell Laundry soap, laundry bags, and have a fluff and fold services if you just want to drop off. I’ve been coming here for years and love it… when I go to other laundromat houses I always regret not coming here.

Very clean place and well maintained machines. I checked in and got the free soap offer but the lady didn’t have any idea what i was talking about and kept staring at everything i was doing as if i was doing something wrong. I’ll be there again but not bringing up any Unilocal deals or anything

Nicest & Coolest laundry mat I’ve ever been to. Lots of Machines. They sell laundry soap, dryer sheets and have a fluff & fold service too! It’s only 99¢ a lb to have them do it for you and it’s all nice and folded neatly with a $ 15 minimum. The place is clean, right next door to vons & a ton of other places & On top of it all they have wifi and outlets where there are tables and chairs you can sit at to kill some time while doing your laundry. Now who says doing laundry sucks? ^_^

For all the newbies:
–Bring your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets– if not they do have detergent $ 1/​load and dryer sheets $½ sheets.
–only use the big washer if you can’t fit it in the small one. Idea is the size I put my huge blanket it the 5 load washer and sleeping bag in a 2 load washer. They do have four huge industrial ones if you are planning to clean out your whole bedroom.
–save up those quarters! Prices for washer ranges from $ 2.75 to $ 7.50 for the huge one. The dryer is 25 cents per 5 minutes. (Try to use one that is still warm to save you some drying time ;D)

There are plenty of snack/​restaurants around if you get hungry-​they also have a vending machine if you don’t want to go far.
This place is clean and smells like fresh laundry :) They also have counter space with outlets available if you want to bring in hw or a laptop.

I must say, what I appreciated more than anything was the fact that the owner Chris made an attempt to contact me as soon as the issue was brought to his attention. I would say that my previously bad experience was an isolated case and that it is not in fact how they normally run their business at blue planet.
We had a conversation by phone and he explained to me while it is no excuse that the lady who was seemingly grumpy that night had been working there for many years prior to him even owning the place and that she was going through cancer treatment. This was in part the reason why she was acting erratic that night. Aside from helping me understand what was going on and apologizing on her behalf, he offered me as compensation a free wash + fluff & fold service.
I’m now giving a 5 star review because its been a few months since that conversation and I just recently brought a ton of clothes in to try out his offer. I must say I’m impressed, it’s not a bad deal considering the fact that I got my clothes back the same day, nothing shrunk (my biggest worry), everything was nicely bagged, and lastly the cost was only $ 11 for a huge amount of clothes (if I had to pay). That’s a ton of time and energy I saved not having lug a bunch of wet clothes back home and hang dry them which is what I normally do. All in all, I would definitely use this service again in the future when I’m in a bind or just exhausted. Had he not given me this opportunity to try this service, I would’ve never known it existed to be honest. Thanks a lot Chris for making everything gravy!
