Bank of America

I tried to go to this branch today in the middle of 5:30 traffic and missed the 6 o’clock deadline by about two minutes. I needed to make a large deposit for a third-​party and was turned away because apparently the branch was slow today and everybody had already balanced. Every so often I have to encounter the substandard customer service and it reaffirms my decision to bank at a credit union. Had this been at San Diego County Credit Union, they would have gladly taken the deposit just as they have in the past whether or not somebody had already balanced. That’s because Customer Service isn’t based on what time a company time clock starts or stops — it is based on the impression it leaves on potential customers. If this is the type of customer service people receive in UTC, I can understand why they had a slow day. Thank you B of A for providing me an opportunity to feel grateful for banking at SDCCU! Another example of how big banks treat you as a number whereas Credit Unions treat you as a friend!

The service is horrible, I wish to inquire a credit card but the banker even refuse to share the benefits of this card with me because i do not have a checking account. Strange? The most acceptable is that the lady is rude and arrogant. Probably a racist.

Long lines and short staffed. Thinking having a bank on a busy shopping mall they would be fully staffed.
Crystal was pretty unprofessional, having to stand and wait for her to over ride an approval for 5 – 7 minutes. Instead of helping, she is on the opposite side and having conversations with customers.
Instead of doing that, get in the teller line and start helping customers. Having 1 teller, with a line of 7 people is pretty unacceptable.

As an international student, I’ve been living around for four years. I encountered many representatives but no one can even ever compared to Fernando! He is so chill! Knowing everything about what an international student needs and trying to help us as the best as he could. I just suggest every foreign student who holds a F1 visa should go to this place and has him as your banking advisor! He is so nice!

Great service at this branch today I had so many different transactions to do .I was directed to Angel Estrada my new personal banker. The bank was very crowded I walked in without an appointment but I was seen in a timely manner. Excellent customer service. I will call on him directly if I need assistance! Very nice man he will move up I am sure but While we have him I do recommend calling him if you need help with your accounts.

I went in today to perform a large cash transaction — i was selling my motorcycle. They were extremely helpful and comforting. They even let us use their desk. Thanks for helping me feel secure and welcome throughout the transaction!!!

Very friendly, very nice staff. They know my name as I walk in. Always professional. They could use more tellers when the line grows though. Thanks for the lollipops. My kids like them too.

Visiting the bank is never exciting. I compare it to having a dentist appointment: a necessary evil.
However, this bank goes above and beyond to torture its visitors. I have been here at least 10 times on different days and it is always the worst experience. The tellers always seem brand new and «training» which some how excuses them from the basic ability of being able to add, subtract, and count back change. They also like to make sure there is only 1 teller working at the busiest times of the day while the other desk bankers sit there and stare and us sheep waiting helplessly in line.
The animosity and resentment between all of the employees and managers is so thick that you could cut it with a knife. No bueno… my suggestion is find a different BoA to do your bidding.

I wish I can I can put no stars for this location. Went in to ask if they can maybe print a check or two for me out of my business account. I don’t order checks because I hardly use them and I usually pay with my debit card. But today I needed a check to pay a bill. The woman who was at one of the desk (I wish I remember her name) wasn’t helpful at all. A piece of paper with some text on it would only cost .50 to print at staples! And that’s in color! But bank of america wants to charge you $ 10 for a cashiers check. They have printed one for me before, I just don’t see the point of ordering checks when I don’t need it! And then the girl pointed out that I can walk over to CVS for a money order. What has happened to customer service??? I was really unhappy with the service. I wish they would have offered a one time free cashiers check but NO! They lost my business! I’ve always thought of this bank being classy, but now I think it’s nickel and diming!

Parking sucks here. ALWAYS. But the tellers are nice and the personal bankers are normally pretty helpful with the questions you have. At least they have drive thru banking!

The shopping mall that this bank is in is always packed. Dangerously packed. It’s hard to cross the parking lot just to get to the bank. Avoid this branch if possible. Avoid the ATM here if possible.

Worse bank I ever dealt with. Employees were great, it’s their supervisors who are not helpful and don’t care if they are or not. They have lost my business which was a six figure amount.

Dear Mario: Your automated ATMs are more useful than you… and they have a lot less attitude too.
Do I REALLY have to come here three times to get a debit card sent to the right address? Don’t you just enter my address as I say it to you into your computer and click on something that says «send»?
My home BoA NEVER fails to take care of me. Actually, no BoA has ever failed to take care of me, even when it comes to returning money to my account for their mistakes. You’d think that in a high class place like La Jolla, you could get a debit card sent to you without attitude on the side…
No… nothing is wrong with my debit card, and yes, I just want a new one, but is that a crime? Then why are you acting like it is? Why do you have to say, every other sentence, «Yeah we’re not doing anything wrong», «We’re not at fault here»… I came back three weeks after the first card never arrived, three weeks after the second card didn’t come, and now I’m waiting on another one with a little hole in my heart that used to hold out hope for BoA.
The best part: this guy, after throwing around attitude and repeating his mantra:“It’s not my fault”, has the audacity to say to me, «I noticed you have no credit. Have you thought about building your credit yet? You need to get started on that and build credit and open a credit card with us. I can definitely do that for you». At that point, it took all of my self-​control not to laugh in his face. You can’t even send me a piece of plastic after a month and a half of regular visits to ALL of your bankers, and you expect ME have YOU manage my credit card? He kept trying to push this one credit card on me, and I was just not having it, and he goes, «Well, you do whatever you want.» Well you’re right about something. I will do what I want… like write this review about your incompetence and call you out on the Internet!
I’ve ALWAYS defended the service at BoA. But the Chase in the very same plaza seemed like a haven for lost souls after I left that afternoon.

I must say the line moves so slow… there were only two teller. Yikes!

I wish I could put zero stars but I can’t. I normally don’t review general banks, markets, etc. I usually stick with restaurants. But I received such HORRIBLE service today that I HAD to put a note in my agenda as a reminder to do a review on this bank.
I basically got seated in front of the representative, Chelsea Y. (Yes, her service was that bad I just HAD to remember her name.) She was extremely unfriendly. I was trying to explain the situation of how I got charged an account fee TWICE when it wasn’t my fault. I never had this problem before. I had not made any changes to switch to a different account or anything. She basically cut me short and said that they could only waive one. I had called the customer service hotline prior to this and the lady on the phone said she would waive one for me over the phone and if I physically went to the bank, a representative could waive the second one. As a professional representative, Chelsea should have apologized for her bank’s mistake on their behalf for not being able to waive the second one. Instead, she flatly said no with no empathy whatsoever. Throughout our entire conversation, she spoke to me in a coy attitude. When she asked me to sign my form, she dropped the pen loudly right in my face and flung the paper at me. She kept sighing and looking annoyed at my questions…
Well…EXCUSE ME but forgive me for trying to ask for clarifications since YOU GUYS were the one that screwed me over with an extra service fee for no damn reason !!!
Isn’t BOA supposed to be known for their good service? Usually back at home, I get greeted as I walk in. This gives me a distorted representation of what BOA stands for.
This unpleasant service I received today made me almost want to CANCEL & close my bank account right then & there & march to CHASE bank (it’s located in the same plaza) and open up a new account. SERIOUSLY. I’m thinking about it right now as I write this review.

This is funny that I am reviewing a bank!
But I still want all the Unilocalers to know that the bankers here are very nice. They answer all my questions.
The banker told me and teach me how to save more and how to use credit card wisely (reward…) The service is great!

I told the teller the specific amount I wanted to withdraw. Guess what? She didn’t pay attention and processed an amount three dollars lower.
The branch manager would not be bothered with the additional $ 3. In fact, NOBODY could be bothered with the $ 3 more. They would not simply void out the transaction and re-​do it.
And don’t kid yourself about the «convenient location» either. Getting in and out of the parking lot here is NOT CONVENIENT. It gets PACKED at lunchtime AND after 5 o’clock. The traffic signal at the south entrance should be a BIG tip-​off.
Also – if you’re considering opening an account with B of A, keep in mind they handle a lot of government accounts so they are not very customer-​friendly. In fact, they don’t care about you at all because they’ve got bigger business in other respects. Also, if you even think of a home loan with them – keep in mind that they do their foreclosures in-​house as «ReConTrust» so you’re not likely to get fair treatment in your time of hardship.

What am I doing reviewing a bank?!
I know I know. It’s like «Who cares, everyone has to go to their local bank. A Unilocal review won’t keep people away from the bank.»
But I just wanted to say thank you to the tellers in this branch. At a particularly testing and stressful period of time (money seems to have a knack for causing these problems eh?), the staff was very friendly and fantastic at taking care of my banking efficiently and quickly. And any questions? Zap! Answered. And usually I hate small talk with strangers because it tends to get really awkward for me. But this time, I appreciated it and it made me hate going to the bank a little less.

Always busy but this is a convenient location in the same shopping center as CVS, Whole Foods, and Blockbuster. The staff is friendly and efficient. The drive through ATM is convenient.
Down sides:
1. Parking can sometimes be difficult to find.
2. No safety deposit boxes available.
