We are a private charter catamaran that specializes in parties and special events whether it be for a corporate team building experience or dinner or even a meeting onboard the boat, or perhaps a holiday party or birthday party, as well as Weddings. We have many options available for you and your clients/​guests and look forward to sailing with you soon. Aloha!

History

Established in 2002.

The Aolani Catamaran had it’s first official charter in January of 2003 when Super Bowl XXXVII was held in San Diego. We have been sailing private charters ever since. We are a local San Diego family owned and operated business.

Bruno S.

Business Owner

Bruno Schwarz, originally from Germany, moved to California at the age of 25 where his love for boating and the ocean continued to grow. After traveling to Hawaii with his family and setting sail on local catamaran businesses there, he decided to start up his own business back home in San Diego. The Aolani Catamaran was purchased in 2001, and had its first official charter in January of 2003. Bruno and his wife Cindy own the catamaran, and run the business. Their daughter, Lindsay, also oversees Marketing & Sales for the business, and is also a crew member on board the boat. The Aolani Catamaran is usually sailed by Captain Stephen Mann.

We had the best time ever on your beautiful Catamaran, with the great crew and Bruno the owner. Everything was almost to unbelievably perfect. You made all of us feel very comfortable and we enjoyed every minute of the cruse. Words can’t express how truly fantastic the cruse was as you must try it yourself to actually live and feel the time aboard the fine Aolani. Bruno and crew made all of us feel relaxed and were able to just have fun with the fine food, good drinks with complete comfort while enjoying ever minute of the cruse. We will never forget this truly fun experience on the Aolani. The only complaint was the time went by way too fast.

The Aolani and its crew are amazing! My husband rented the catamaran for a sunset cruise to celebrate my 40th birthday and we had a blast! Easy sailing and gorgeous scenery. It easily fit the 40 passengers we had on board and we had generous hosts and a bartender to keep the drinks flowing. Couldn’t have imagined a better birthday idea! We were looking for a place to have a small wedding and knowing very little about boats we stumbled upon the aolani. Compared to the rest of what is available the Aolani shone. When we went down to physically look at the boat Bruno (the owner) was on the boat and a very nice guy. We were immediately impressed with his demeanor and his truly apparent love for the boat. We put a deposit down on the spot for our wedding in 8 months. We went down one more time to look at the available space for food and met Stephen the Captain. Once again very very nice guy who truly loves what he does. Him and his now wife were getting married on the Aolani that weekend. When it came time for our big day everything went off amazingly. The boat was there and ready to go exactly on time, Captain Stephen, Bruno and crew were ready to go! Day was perfect and I wouldn’t hesitate from recommending it to anyone. We also had one guest miss the boat but he found a skiff to run him out.

Wow. What a beautiful boat, great itinerary, and the staff was really great too. It was neat going on a catamaran trip where the family who owns it is local from Coronado, knows San Diego like the back of their hand and makes it personal. I would recommend this company to anyone. Local or visitor… you don’t feel like you are taking a paid catamaran trip. You just feel like you are hanging out with good friends, enjoying San Diego.

Last weekend my daughter graduated from USD and we wanted to do something special with her friends and our family, so we booked a cruise with Aolani. It was absolutely wonderful. The weather was not particularly wonderful, but everything else was perfect. The guys working on the boat were very helpful and friendly. That set all the food up for us and had plenty for our guests to drink. They visited with us during the cruise and pointed out all kinds of interesting sights along the San Diego harbor. Every person on the boat was sad when the cruise was over and I wish I had booked it for longer. I highly recommend this company.

This boat is well appointed with a very professional crew ~ on Nov 16th our family took a four hour cruise off the coast of San Diego for a memorial service for my mother. We couldn’t have been more impressed with everything and the name AOLANI (cloud from heaven) couldn’t have been more fitting. Highly recommend this service/​craft if you have an event to match.

We took our company out for a social event on Aolani and it was amazing! We had about 40 people on the boat and there was plenty of room for everyone to socialize and move around.
The boat owner and also the captain were on board and could not have been any more friendly and helpful. They helped us with any questions or needs that we had, but also were in the background enough that it almost felt like it was our boat. Perfect combination.
I would highly recommend Aolani if you are looking for a social event for the office, large party or wedding events. Parking is convenient and you get a discount once you get the validation. Can’t wait to go back!

Went on an Aolani cruise this week and it was terrific! We were on a company trip without about 30 people. The boat felt spacious and not crowded at all.
The crew was prepared for everything. A few people didn’t realize how much cooler it could be on the water and didn’t bring jackets. It was a nice surprise to see that the crew had a stack of blankets and jackets (even visors and sunscreen) for just such an occasion. Really nice!
The crew was informative about the history of the harbor without boring you or droning on too long about it. We cruised up close to see submarines, colonies of seals and many other points of interest.
I’ve done many other «harbor cruises» in the past and this was by far my favorite. Great memories that will stay with me for a long time.

We had the pleasure of sharing a team building event yesterday on the Aolani Catamaran near downtown San Diego. What an amazing boat, ship or whatever. There were about 50 of us and we were very comfortable. The crew was amazing and I could not think of a better way to enjoy seeing San Diego from the water. Cruising by the largest battle ship in the world, the USS Ronald Reagan was a special treat too. I definitely recommend doing this if you are in SD. It is one of those, «I cannot believe I live here and have never done this.» So if you are visiting, make it a point to do this.

This past weekend my wife and I had the pleasure of joining a group of about 40 or so people on a private chartered half-​day catamaran cruise aboard the Aolani Catamaran.
Convenient parking is provided for the half-​day catamaran cruise at the Sheraton Harbor Island across from the airport ($ 8.00 with validated discount). We boarded the catamaran at 1:30 pm and joined a great group of people for a half-​day harbor and ocean cruise (thanks go out to everyone, including Bill & Patti who invited us).
Plenty of food & drinks were available, and some tropical island music enhanced the experience. We enjoyed the beautiful San Diego Skyline, gorgeous weather and enjoyable conversations. What we did not anticipate was seeing a cabin cruiser sinking off Point Loma.
Fortunately, no one was on board and we got there in time for the captain to radio the harbor police who responded quickly. From what we gathered, someone decided to abandon ship!
As we made our way back from the half-​day catamaran cruise, we enjoyed passing by the naval ships and aircraft carriers located near the Coronado Bridge. As the sun was setting, the air grew cooler but the wonderful crew was prepared with blankets so we could enjoy the topside. We docked at 8:00 pm & departed back to our normal lives. I highly recommend this cruise to anyone looking for an entertaining time. Travel times vary as do routes.

One of the vendors I work with chartered the Aolani for a celebration. The sail around the bay was perfect. The captain was very relaxed, fun, and informative. The staff serving the food and drinks were also very kind and were on top of things. The food was good and they had a nice assortment of liquor, beer, and wine.
There were plenty of seats around the Aolani and when the sun was setting and it got cooler, we were offered blankets and jackets. The crew made the sail very enjoyable and a lot of fun. I’m not sure of the cost, but I don’t think that it was unreasonable. If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate something, consider a sail around the bay on the Aolani!

Gorgeous day of sailing through San Diego bay, basking in the constant sunlight with views of the Downtown skyline and Coronado, what more do you need?
The highlight of the trip was anchoring at random beaches and going swimming. View of the million dollar scenery, awesome weather, great company, delicious lunch — a perfect way to top off our Memorial Day weekend.

This is a perfect little getaway from the real world and is so convenient. Wonderful add on to a corporate event and a way to really enjoy San Diego.
Bruno and staff are very accommodating and flexible — they make sure its a good time. The only problem is that we didn’t allow enough time to eat all the great food, drink all the beer and wine and take naps!
It was fun and mellow at the same time.

Do you know how babies are made or how people decide to make babies in the first place?
Whatever you guessed, well, you’re wrong, it has nothing to do with storks, tadpoles, chickens, or any other foul delivery service. The decision to make Babies happens when people realize that they need to make clones of themselves in order to experience the same profound moments that they have had. No babies are scheduled to be made after clipping toe nails too short or falling off the toilet while clipping toe nails too short as I did last night.
A day on the Aolani has been keeping San Diegans fertile since 2003. With the amazing hospitality, stupendous ship comfort, and overwhelming sites and sounds of the swelling Pacific you bet-​your-​sweet-​ass that you will experience something in even a short excursion that you will remember until the end of days in 2012.
You will make or adopt children just to take them with you on the Aolani for a second time, that’s how rad it is.
